• Continuously checking database from a Windows service

  I am making a Windows service which needs to continuously check for database entries that can be added at any time to tell it to execute some code. It is looking to see if it's status is set to pending, and it's execute time entry is than the current time. Is the only way to do this to just run select statements over and over? It might need to execute the code every minute which means I need to run the select statement every minute looking for entries in the database. I'm trying to avoid unneccesary cpu time because I'm probably going to end up paying for cpu cycles on the hosting provider

• My object becomes NSCFArray when running on iPhone

  I'm really scratching my head on this one: I have an object (MyObject) which I instantiate, and this object has an NSArray member variable. The following simple code working in the sim: MyObject *myObj = [[MyObject alloc] init]; NSArray *arr = [myObj myMemberArray]; When I hover over myObj in XCode the tooltip reads "MyObject". Good! But when I debug it on the device (OS 3.1.3) I get: "[NSCFArray myMemberArray]: unrecognized selector sent to instance ... " When I hover over myObj, sure enough it reads "NSCFArray". Can anyone give me some pointers on where to go next with this? Thanks.

• Ways to access a JavaScript Object's Property in IE6

  I have a JavaScript object with some properties. Lets say: var haystack = { foo: {value: "fooooo"}, bar: {value: "baaaaa"} }; Now, I want to access one of those properties, but I don't know which one. Luckily, this variable does: var needle = "foo"; In modern browsers I seem to be able to do the following and it works: haystack[needle].value; # returns "fooooo" But in IE6 it throws a wobbly, haystack[...] is null or not an object. Is there a way to achieve what I'm trying to achieve in IE6? If so, how so?

• PHP object parent/child recursion

  I've got a parent-child OO relationship. Parent obejcts has many child objects and every child object knows about it's parent by reference. The parent can be a child too (basically its a tree). When i do a var_dump() on the root object it says ["parent"]=RECURSION many times and the generated description will be really long. I'm wondering if i do something wrong. If yes, i'm interested in the "best practice". Thanks for the help!

  We are developing a project that has 3 enviroments (development, test, production) So there are 3 databases (actually more than 3, because we have 5 customers so we have more than 10 databases) and they must be synchronised. There are 30 coders working for this project. Everone adds, deletes, and changes procedures, table columns etc. We need a program to store our database scripts like visual studio's team foundation server. See the change history of script file. Everyone must access that program and be able to put their scripts. Recover previous versions of script file. Execute these scripts over a selected database. Compare databases by procedures (not only by name, by content of procedure), functions, table columns, packages etc. I am searching a program like that. Which one do you suggest me?

• Many to Many DataSet Insert to Database using Stored Procedures

  I'm trying to do a many-to-many bulk insert to the database using a list of three different types of models. The only tools I can use are stored procedures and datasets. (But I can't use DataSet fills or DataAdapters, just plain ol' Stored Procedures). Is there an easy way to pass multiple values, let alone, pass three different lists and bulk insert them to a table in the database using stored procedures? (As specified in the title, the three tables are actually two tables and a third table to establish the many-to-many relationship between the two.)

• Database caching on a shared host

  Anyone have any ideas how to increase MySQL performance on a shared host? My question has less to do with overall database performance and more to do with simply retrieving user-submitted data. Currently my database will create caches at timed intervals, and then the PHP will selectively access the static files it needs. This has given me a noticeable performance boost, but I am worried about a time in which I have so much data that having to read in big files in PHP will actually be slower. I am just looking for ideas for shared hosting solutions; I am not going to get my own server anytime soon. Thanks!

  I'm trying to check if json[0]['DATA']['name'][0]['DATA']['first_0'] exists or not when in some instances json[0]['DATA']['name'] contains nothing. I can check json[0]['DATA']['name'] using if (json[0]['DATA']['name'] == '') { // DOES NOT EXIST } however if (json[0]['DATA']['name'][0]['DATA']['first_0'] == '' || json[0]['DATA']['name'][0]['DATA']['first_0'] == 'undefined') { // DOES NOT EXIST } returns json[0]['DATA']['name'][0]['DATA'] is null or not an object. I understand this is because the array 'name' doesn't contain anything in this case, but in other cases first_0 does exist and json[0]['DATA']['name'] does return a value. Is there a way that I can check json[0]['DATA']['name'][0]['DATA']['first_0'] directly without having to do the following? if (json[0]['DATA']['name'] == '') { if (json[0]['DATA']['name'][0]['DATA']['first_0'] != 'undefined') { // OBJECT EXISTS } }

  Hi, I'm using the cookielib module to handle HTTP cookies when using the urllib2 module in Python 2.6 in a way similar to this snippet: import cookielib, urllib2 cj = cookielib.CookieJar() opener = urllib2.build_opener(urllib2.HTTPCookieProcessor(cj)) r = opener.open("http://example.com/") I'd like to store the cookies in a database. I don't know whats better - serialize the CookieJar object and store it or extract the cookies from the CookieJar and store that. I don't know which one's better or how to implement either of them. I should be also be able to recreate the CookieJar object. Could someone help me out with the above? Thanks in advance.

  Hi, I'm trying to produce a master/detail datagrid view. I'm using object data providers. Now I have seen many examples when the argument of a method for returning the records for the detail view is a string, like in this example: <!-- the orders datasource --> <ObjectDataProvider x:Key="OrdersDataProvider" ObjectType="{x:Type local:OrdersDataProvider}"/> <ObjectDataProvider x:Key="Orders" MethodName="GetOrdersByCustomer" ObjectInstance="{StaticResource OrdersDataProvider}" > <ObjectDataProvider.MethodParameters> <x:Static Member="system:String.Empty"/> </ObjectDataProvider.MethodParameters> </ObjectDataProvider> But in my case, the argument that I want to pass is the int ID not the string. Can I still somehow use the object data provider to return all the records from the database for the detail view if the argument passed to a method has to be an int? • UITableView setting standalone delegate object?

  Hi have setup a sample application using a UITableView. Initially I did this by conforming my controller to and , added a tableView in IB and connected "datasource" & "delegate" to Files Owner. It all works so thats good. What I have been trying out is creating my own class for the delegate. I created a new class and added and , but quickly found I could not connect the tableViewdataSource / delegate. To solve this I added an "Object" (NSObject) in IB and set it to my new class. I then connected the dataSource and delegate outlets to this object. It sort of works, the app runs and displays the tableView, but when I try and scroll the table the app crashes. Can I ask if I am going about this the right way? gary

• How to retrieve a bigint from a database and place it into an Int64 in SSIS

  I ran into this problem a couple years back and am hoping there has been a fix and I just don't know about it. I am using an 'Execute SQL Task' in the Control Flow of an SSIS package to retrieve a 'bigint' ID value. The task is supposed to place this in an Int64 SSIS variable but I getting the error: "The type of the value being assigned to variable "User::AuditID" differs from the current variable type. Variables may not change type during execution. Variable types are strict, except for variables of type Object." When I brought this to MS' attention a couple years back they stated that I had to 'work around' this by placing the bigint into an SSIS object variable and then converting the value to Int64 as needed. • aspnet_regsql not working at all

  I would like to create the ASP.NET User database template on a database of my own, because I'd like to fully untegrate the user system with the rest of my DB. As I've read, i needed to use the aspnet_regsql tool. I put all the options (because my database is running on SQLEXPRESS and is in an mdf file in my project's folder). the program starts and seemingly runs without any errors, however, when I open the database after that, not tables or stored procedures have been added. One more thing: I did one more test. I intentionally gave the -d option a wrong mdf file address, and surprisingly, the program "finished" correctly, yet no file was crated or modified whatsoever.

• How to Practically Split Values from CSV File into MySQL Database

  Let's suppose I have the following line in a CSV file (I removed the header row in this example): "500,000",2,50,2,90000 I have a PHP script read the CSV file, break the file into individual lines, and store each line in an array called $linearray. Then, I use a foreach loop to look at each line individually. Within the foreach loop, I break the line into separate variables using the following function: $line = str_replace("'","\'",$line); From here, I insert the values into separate columns within a MySQL database. The script works. The values are inserted into a database, but I run into a problem. I want: "500,000" | 2 | 50 | 2 | 90000 But I get this: "500 | 000" | 2 | 50 | 2 | 90000 The script isn't smart enough to understand it should skip commas within quotation marks. Do you know how I can alter my script to make sure I get the output I'm looking for? Thanks.

• Problem while adding new Object to CoreData App

  Hi Another Day, another CoreData problem,...but hopefully the last one now. Ok here is a copy of what I have : I have a List of Hotel Guests that stay in one Room and have Preferences. Once ready the user should select a guest and see the data and should also be able to add new guest, select the room (maintained also by application) and select their preferences (where the user can also add new preferences). The guest can have no or many preferences. So here is what I have so far. I created 3 Entities : - Rooms with roomnumber - Preferences with name - GuestInfo with name - with these Relationships room (Destination Rooms) and prefs (Destination Preferences with "To-Many Relationship") The prefs is a NSSet when you create a Managed Object Class. Now I created a UITableViewController to display all the data. I also have an edit and add mode. When I add a new Guest and just fill out the name, everything works fine. But when I want to add the prefs or the room number I get this error : Illegal attempt to establish a relationship 'room' between objects in different contexts Now, what confuses me is that when I add a guest and enter just the name, save it, go back and edit it and select the prefs and room number it works ? I have this line in both ViewControllers to select the room or prefs : [editedObject setValue:selectedRoom forKey:editedFieldKey]; with this .h : NSManagedObject *editedObject; NSString *editedFieldKey; NSString *editedFieldName; Again, it works on the editing mode but not when I want to add a fresh object. • Wordpress: Sort posts by meta value after AFTER querying from database

  Hello, I am pulling posts from my database by using Wordpress' WP_Query object like so: $shows_query = new WP_Query("category_name=shows&meta_key=band&meta_value=$artist_id"); I have another meta value I would like to sort the posts by, however. The meta key is 'date'. The WP_Query object can no work with multiple meta_keys, so this does not work: $shows_query = new WP_Query("category_name=shows&meta_key=band&meta_value=$artist_id&meta_key=date&orderby=meta_value&order=DESC"); So now I have to figure out a way to sort the posts in $shows_query['posts'] by one of their meta_values, which are not even IN their array. Any other, more sensible approach would also be appreciated.

• Return database messages on successful SQL execution when using ADO

  I'm working on a legacy VB6 app here at work, and it has been a long time since I've looked at VB6 or ADO. One thing the app does is to executes SQL Tasks and then to output the success/failure into an XML file. If there is an error it inserts the text the task node. What I have been asked to do is try and do the same with the other mundane messages that result from succesfully executed tasks, like (323 row(s) affected). There is no command object being used, it's just an ADODB.Connection object. Here is the gist of the code: Dim sqlStatement As String Set sqlStatement = /* sql for task */ Dim sqlConn As ADODB.Connection Set sqlConn = /* connection magic */ sqlConn.Execute sqlStatement, , adExecuteNoRecords What is the best way for me to capture the non-error messages so I can output them?
