Longer execution through Java shell than console?

I have a script in Python which do some computations. When I run this script in console it takes about 7 minutes to complete but when I run it thought Java shell it takes three times longer. I use following code to execute the script in Java: this.p = Runtime.getRuntime().exec("script.py --batch", envp); this.input = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(p.getInputStream())); this.output = new BufferedWriter(new OutputStreamWriter(p.getOutputStream())); this.error = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(p.getErrorStream())); Do you have any suggestion why the Python script runs three time longer in Java than in a console? update The computation goes as follow: Java sends data to the Python. Python reads the data. Python generates a decision tree --- this is a long operation. Python sends a confirmation that the tree is ready. Java receives the confirmation. Later there is a series of communications between Java and Python but it takes only several second.

jQuery .load from another page that contains Javascript

I've been using jQuery .load() to load content into a div. The content being .loaded occasionally has a document.ready() function which is called, and works, correctly (i.e. the ready() function is called). However, when I use an element ID in the .load(), such as: .load ("test.php #content"), the Javascript is no longer executed even if I put the script tag inside of the element that is being loaded. Does anyone have a solution to this other than to not use the element ID in the .load()? Thanks in advance. jQuery: how to handle empty return from getJSON

Alright so I have a php script which gets results from a DB, and to get those results I'm using a jQuery script to pull the results via getJSON. It works perfectly but now I want to do something if the php script returns no results (empty). I tried: $.getJSON('path/to/script'), {parameter:parameter}, function(data){ if (data) { alert('Result'); } else { alert('Empty); } }); But it's no good. I've tried different things like if (data.length) but still nothing. I've noticed that if there is no returned data the callback will never fire at all. So if that's the case, how do I handle a empty return?

hey guys I searched for a while on how to find a benchmarking software that can simulate crowd website with more than 1000 users online to find out leaks in my php/mysql script . as long as i ran my script for a huge community and it wasn't successful enough and lots of RAM usage happened , now I need a way to simulate that much usage to benchmark my script and optimize it . exit /B 0 does not work

I have the following problem: I have created a batch script which calls itself in there (for being able to write a log in parallel). In the script I start another process (like start startServer.bat) which starts up a java process and keeps opened up all the time. In my original script I wait 30 seconds, check if the process is running and do an: exit /B 0 Unfortunately that does not work, the window shows that the exit /B 0 is being evaluated, but the window still keeps open. When I close the window with the other process (meaning the "child" processes started up in my .bat) my script continues its run. So: scriptA.bat -> in there I call: start startServer.bat -> wait 30 seconds -> check is server is started -> exit /B 0 Process hangs up! What's very odd, if I wrap another script around, like: scriptB.bat -> call scriptA.bat -----> in there I call: start startServer.bat -----> wait 30 seconds -----> check if server is started -----> exit /B 0 -> scriptA.bat continues without any hangup! I also tried the same with exit 0 (without /B) also, same result! In the first case it hangs up, in the second case my window closes as expected... Has anyone of you ever had such a problem before and knows what's wrong here? Process hangs up!

Multiple Scripts With the Same MySQL Query Running At Once => Will There Be Interference?

I want to have multiple scripts running from cron at the same time. They will all update, say, 500 rows with a unique status ID for that particular script to use. If each script grabs the same type of rows to update, and the scripts run at once, will there be interference between the queries run at the same time? For example, using this query: UPDATE table SET status = <unique script ID> WHERE status = 0 LIMIT 500 Will I get the same rows updating more than once? I'm trying to get each script to get unique rows. I was thinking of using sleep() to make the queries run at different times, but I'm not sure if that's necessary. Thanks.

I know there is a solution to this, I just don't know what.

Use deployJava.js to check for/automatically install latest JRE version for web applet

I'd like to use the deployJava.js tool to have Java automatically detect the currently installed JRE and install an updated version if necessary. My initial impression when reading about deployJava.js was that it would do this out of the box when you simply set a version number as a function parameter for the "runApplet" function. But this has never seemed to work. Is it even possible to do this, and if so, how? MooTools request fails

Hi everyone, I am trying to achieve this task using MooTools. Description: I have three buttons. Two buttons outside myDiv and one button inside myDiv. A click on any of these buttons initiates an AJAX request (passing button variable to "button.php") and updates myDiv content based on the response text. So, after update, myDiv shows Button3 link + a message showing which button has been clicked. The problem: Everything seems to work fine but after several clicks, it happens that myDiv shows loader.gif image and stops. After this, if I wait a few moments, the browser sometimes stops working (gets blocked). I noticed this problem with IE6. Why does the web page I fetch with Perl look odd?

I have a Perl script to open this page http://svejo.net/popular/all/new/ and filter the names of the posts but except headers everything seems encrypted. Nothing can be read. When I open the same page in a browser everything looks fine including the source code. How is it possible to encrypt a page for a script and not for a browser? My Perl script sends the same headers as my browser (Google Chrome).

Why is FF on OS X loosing jQuery-UI in click event handler?

In a web page using jQUery 1.7.1 and jQUery-UI 1.8.18, if I output $.ui in an alert box when the document is ready, I get [object Object]. However when using Firefox, if I output $.ui in a click event handler, I get 'undefined' as result. With other browsers (latest versions of IE, Chrome and Safari), the result is still [object Object] when clicking on the link. The script is iterating through a list trying to calc a running total of the values of all objects in the list. Some or all of these objects' values may be null. Active Index is not being persisted in jQuery accordion change event

I have an asp.net aspx page and on that page I have a hidden input field with and id of paneIndex. However, when I load the page, the alert shows index 1 which is correct on the first load, but if I open up pane 3 for example, the alert shows 1 still. Am I doing something wrong? Can you modify SQL DB schema in a transaction to know if all changes were applied?

As part of my (new) database version control methodology, I'm writing a "change script" and want the change script to insert a new row into the SchemaChangeLog table if the script is executed successfully, or to reverse changes if any single change in the script fails. Is it possible to do schema changes in a transaction and only if it gets committed to then do the INSERT? For example (psuedo-code, I'm not too good with SQL): SET XACT_ABORT ON BEGIN TRANSACTION PRINT 'Add Col2 to Table1' IF NOT EXIST (SELECT * FROM sys.columns WHERE NAME='Col2' AND object_id=OBJECT_ID('Table1')) BEGIN ALTER TABLE [dbo].[Table1] ADD Col2 int NULL END -- maybe COMMIT here? Passing a Smarty variable into Javascript link "src" attribute

Issue with blocking the UI during a onchange request - prevents other event from firing.

I am having issues with jQuery blockUI plugins and firing two events that are (I think, unless I am loosing it) unrelated. Basically I have textboxes with onchange events bound to them. The event is responsible for blocking the UI, doing the ajax call and on success unblocking the UI. The ajax is saving the text in memory. The other control is a button with on onclick event which also block the UI, fire an ajax request saving what's in memory to the database and on success unblock the UI. Both of these work fine separately. The issue arise when I trigger the onchange by clicking on the button. Then only the onchange is fired and the onclick is ignored. I can change the text in the checkbox, click on the link and IF jQuery.blockUI() is present the onchange alone is fired and the save is never called. If I remove the blockUI both function are called. Here's a fully working example where you can see the issue.
