  • What does this IIS error log mean?

    - by Victor Rodrigues
    I'm using Debug Diagnostic Tool, trying to understand why around 5% of the requests that are sent to my webservice just crash, without necessarily throw any error inside my application. One of the errors this tool took is below. Can anyone here understand exactly what could be happening? Thanks! • "Could not establish secure channel for SSL/TLS" in .NET CF application on smart phone

    - by Stefan Mohr
    I have a stubborn communications issue with an application running on the .NET Compact Framework 3.5 on Windows Mobile smartphones. I am constructing a web request using this code: UTF8Encoding encoding = new System.Text.UTF8Encoding(); byte[] Data = encoding.GetBytes(HttpUtility.ConstructQueryString(parameters)); httpRequest = WebRequest.Create((domain)) as HttpWebRequest; httpRequest.Timeout = 10000000; httpRequest.ReadWriteTimeout = 10000000; httpRequest.Credentials = CredentialCache.DefaultCredentials; httpRequest.Method = "POST"; httpRequest.ContentType = "application/x-www-form-urlencoded"; httpRequest.ContentLength = Data.Length; Stream SendReq = httpRequest.GetRequestStream(); SendReq.Write(Data, 0, Data.Length); SendReq.Close(); HttpWebResponse httpResponse = (HttpWebResponse)httpRequest.GetResponse(); return httpResponse.GetResponseStream(); The web service functions by receiving a JSON-encoded document as part of the URL (eg. https://site.com/ws/sync??document={"version":"1.0.0","items":[{"item_1":"item1"}]}&user=usr&password=pw), and as a response receives another JSON document as response data. This code runs fine on all emulators and PDAs running WM 5 and 6. We have seen an issue with a couple of customers running Treo smartphones (and only on the Sprint network). We have tested the code on an identical device on the AT&T network (via DeviceAnywhere) and once again the code worked as we expected. This has to be some sort of security policy on the phone, but we've been unable to determine a workaround or diagnose it thoroughly as we cannot reproduce it in house and have had to resort to getting users to assist with running test drivers for us. When this code executes, the user's device throws the following exception: System.Net.WebException Could not establish secure channel for SSL/TLS Stack trace: at System.Net.HttpWebRequest.finishGetRequestStream() at System.Net.HttpWebRequest.GetRequestStream() at OurApp.GetResponseStream(String domain, Hashtable parameters) inner exception: System.IO.IOException Authentication failed because the remote party has closed the transport stream. Stack trace: at System.Net.SslConnectionState.ClientSideHandshake() at System.Net.SslConnectionState.PerformClientHandShake() at System.Net.Connection.connect(Object ignored) at System.Threading.ThreadPool.WorkItem.doWork(Object o) at System.Threading.Timer.ring() Examining the server Apache logs shows no hits from the user's IP - I don't think the device is even attempting to send a packet before failing. If relevant, the server is running Apache on Linux and is written using the TurboGears Python framework. The server certificate is issued by a CA and is still valid. The test driver where this error was copied from was not code signed, however the same error (without the error messages) is signed with a GeoTrust certificate so we don't believe this is a code signing issue. The application installs and launches without issue on all phones - it's just establishing this SSL connection that is breaking for these users. One significant issue in troubleshooting is that there is a substantial inconvenience each time we try out a solution (need to find a "volunteer" customer), so we're really looking for a silver bullet or a better understanding of the handshaking process so we can be reasonably confident we only need to ask the user to test it one or two more times. One final mention: we have tried the sync both over ActiveSync and also over GPRS with identical results. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

  • Facebook Invalid OAuth access token signature trying to post an attachment to group wall from PHP

    - by Volodymyr B
    I am an administrator (manager role) of a Facebook Group. I created an app, and stored its id and secret. I want my app to be able to post something on the Facebook group's feed. But when I attempt to post, I get the error 190 Invalid OAuth access token signature, even though I able to successfully obtain the access_token with publish_stream and offline_access scopes. It has the form of NNNNNNNNNNNNNNN|XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX, where N is a number (15) and X is a letter or a number (27). What should I do more to get this accomplished? Here is the code I am using: public static function postToFB($message, $image, $link) { //Get App Token $token = self::getFacebookToken(); // Create FB Object Instance $facebook = new Facebook(array( 'appId' => self::fb_appid, 'secret' => self::fb_secret, 'cookie' => true )); //$token = $facebook->getAccessToken(); //Try to Publish on wall or catch the Facebook exception try { $attachment = array('access_token' => $token, 'message' => $message, 'picture' => $image, 'link' => $link, //'name' => '', //'caption' => '', 'description' => 'More...', //'actions' => array(array('name' => 'Action Text', 'link' => 'http://apps.facebook.com/xxxxxx/')) ); $result = $facebook->api('/'.self::fb_groupid.'/feed/', 'post', $attachment); } catch (FacebookApiException $e) { //If the post is not published, print error details echo '<pre>'; print_r($e); echo '</pre>'; } } Code which returns the token //Function to Get Access Token public static function getFacebookToken($appid = self::fb_appid, $appsecret = self::fb_secret) { $args = array( 'grant_type' => 'client_credentials', 'client_id' => $appid, 'client_secret' => $appsecret, 'redirect_uri' => 'https://www.facebook.com/connect/login_success.html', 'scope' => 'publish_stream,offline_access' ); $ch = curl_init(); $url = 'https://graph.facebook.com/oauth/access_token'; curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_URL, $url); curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_HEADER, false); curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_RETURNTRANSFER, true); curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_POST, true); curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_POSTFIELDS, $args); try { $data = curl_exec($ch); } catch (Exception $exc) { error_log($exc->getMessage()); } return json_encode($data); } If I uncomment $token = $facebook->getAccessToken(); in the posting code, it gives me yet another error (#200) The user hasn't authorized the application to perform this action. The token I get using developers.facebook.com/tools/explorer/ is of another form, much longer and with it I am able to post to the group page feed. How do I do it without copy/paste from Graph API Explorer and how do I post as a group instead of posting as a user? Thanks.

  • c# send recive object over network?

    - by Data-Base
    Hello, I'm working on a server/client project the client will be asking the server for info and the server will send them back to the client the info may be string,number, array, list, arraylist or any other object I found allot of examples but I faced issues!!!! the solution I found so far is to serialize the object (data) and send it then de-serialize it to process here is the server code public void RunServer(string SrvIP,int SrvPort) { try { var ipAd = IPAddress.Parse(SrvIP); /* Initializes the Listener */ if (ipAd != null) { var myList = new TcpListener(ipAd, SrvPort); /* Start Listeneting at the specified port */ myList.Start(); Console.WriteLine("The server is running at port "+SrvPort+"..."); Console.WriteLine("The local End point is :" + myList.LocalEndpoint); Console.WriteLine("Waiting for a connection....."); while (true) { Socket s = myList.AcceptSocket(); Console.WriteLine("Connection accepted from " + s.RemoteEndPoint); var b = new byte[100]; int k = s.Receive(b); Console.WriteLine("Recieved..."); for (int i = 0; i < k; i++) Console.Write(Convert.ToChar(b[i])); string cmd = Encoding.ASCII.GetString(b); if (cmd.Contains("CLOSE-CONNECTION")) break; var asen = new ASCIIEncoding(); // sending text s.Send(asen.GetBytes("The string was received by the server.")); // the line bove to be modified to send serialized object? Console.WriteLine("\nSent Acknowledgement"); s.Close(); Console.ReadLine(); } /* clean up */ myList.Stop(); } } catch (Exception e) { Console.WriteLine("Error..... " + e.StackTrace); } } here is the client code that should return an object public object runClient(string SrvIP, int SrvPort) { object obj = null; try { var tcpclnt = new TcpClient(); Console.WriteLine("Connecting....."); tcpclnt.Connect(SrvIP, SrvPort); // use the ipaddress as in the server program Console.WriteLine("Connected"); Console.Write("Enter the string to be transmitted : "); var str = Console.ReadLine(); Stream stm = tcpclnt.GetStream(); var asen = new ASCIIEncoding(); if (str != null) { var ba = asen.GetBytes(str); Console.WriteLine("Transmitting....."); stm.Write(ba, 0, ba.Length); } var bb = new byte[2000]; var k = stm.Read(bb, 0, bb.Length); string data = null; for (var i = 0; i < k; i++) Console.Write(Convert.ToChar(bb[i])); //convert to object code ?????? Console.ReadLine(); tcpclnt.Close(); } catch (Exception e) { Console.WriteLine("Error..... " + e.StackTrace); } return obj; } I need to know a good serialize/serialize and how to integrate it into the solution above :-( I would be really thankful for any help cheers

  • Windows Form hangs when running threads

    - by Benjamin Ortuzar
    JI have written a .NET C# Windows Form app in Visual Studio 2008 that uses a Semaphore to run multiple jobs as threads when the Start button is pressed. It’s experiencing an issue where the Form goes into a comma after being run for 40 minutes or more. The log files indicate that the current jobs complete, it picks a new job from the list, and there it hangs. I have noticed that the Windows Form becomes unresponsive when this happens. The form is running in its own thread. This is a sample of the code I am using: protected void ProcessJobsWithStatus (Status status) { int maxJobThreads = Convert.ToInt32(ConfigurationManager.AppSettings["MaxJobThreads"]); Semaphore semaphore = new Semaphore(maxJobThreads, maxJobThreads); // Available=3; Capacity=3 int threadTimeOut = Convert.ToInt32(ConfigurationManager.AppSettings["ThreadSemaphoreWait"]);//in Seconds //gets a list of jobs from a DB Query. List<Job> jobList = jobQueue.GetJobsWithStatus(status); //we need to create a list of threads to check if they all have stopped. List<Thread> threadList = new List<Thread>(); if (jobList.Count > 0) { foreach (Job job in jobList) { logger.DebugFormat("Waiting green light for JobId: [{0}]", job.JobId.ToString()); if (!semaphore.WaitOne(threadTimeOut * 1000)) { logger.ErrorFormat("Semaphore Timeout. A thread did NOT complete in time[{0} seconds]. JobId: [{1}] will start", threadTimeOut, job.JobId.ToString()); } logger.DebugFormat("Acquired green light for JobId: [{0}]", job.JobId.ToString()); // Only N threads can get here at once job.semaphore = semaphore; ThreadStart threadStart = new ThreadStart(job.Process); Thread thread = new Thread(threadStart); thread.Name = job.JobId.ToString(); threadList.Add(thread); thread.Start(); } logger.Info("Waiting for all threads to complete"); //check that all threads have completed. foreach (Thread thread in threadList) { logger.DebugFormat("About to join thread(jobId): {0}", thread.Name); if (!thread.Join(threadTimeOut * 1000)) { logger.ErrorFormat("Thread did NOT complete in time[{0} seconds]. JobId: [{1}]", threadTimeOut, thread.Name); } else { logger.DebugFormat("Thread did complete in time. JobId: [{0}]", thread.Name); } } } logger.InfoFormat("Finished Processing Jobs in Queue with status [{0}]...", status); } //form methods private void button1_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { buttonStop.Enabled = true; buttonStart.Enabled = false; ThreadStart threadStart = new ThreadStart(DoWork); workerThread = new Thread(threadStart); serviceStarted = true; workerThread.Start(); } private void DoWork() { EmailAlert emailAlert = new EmailAlert (); // start an endless loop; loop will abort only when "serviceStarted" flag = false while (serviceStarted) { emailAlert.ProcessJobsWithStatus(0); // yield if (serviceStarted) { Thread.Sleep(new TimeSpan(0, 0, 1)); } } // time to end the thread Thread.CurrentThread.Abort(); } //job.process() public void Process() { try { //sets the status, DateTimeStarted, and the processId this.UpdateStatus(Status.InProgress); //do something logger.Debug("Updating Status to [Completed]"); //hits, status,DateFinished this.UpdateStatus(Status.Completed); } catch (Exception e) { logger.Error("Exception: " + e.Message); this.UpdateStatus(Status.Error); } finally { logger.Debug("Relasing semaphore"); semaphore.Release(); } I have tried to log what I can into a file to detect where the problem is happening, but so far I haven't been able to identify where this happens. Losing control of the Windows Form makes me think that this has nothing to do with processing the jobs. Any ideas?

  • No value given for one or more required parameters in connection initialisation

    I have an C# form application that use an access database. This application works perfectly in debug and release. It works on all version of Windows. But it crash on one computer with Windows 7. The message I got is: System.Data.OleDb.OleDbException: No value given for one or more required parameters. EDIT, after some debugging with messagebox on the computer that have the problem, here is the code that bug.The error is catched on the cmd.ExecuteReader(). The messagebox juste before is shown and the next one is the one in the catch with the exception below. Any ideas? public List<CoeffItem> GetModeleCoeff() { List<CoeffItem> list = new List<CoeffItem>(); try { OleDbDataReader dr; OleDbCommand cmd = new OleDbCommand("SELECT nIDModelAquacad, nIDModeleBorne, fCoefficient FROM tbl_ModelBorne ORDER BY nIDModelAquacad", m_conn); MessageBox.Show("Commande SQL créée avec succès"); dr = cmd.ExecuteReader(); MessageBox.Show("Exécution du reader sans problème!"); while (dr.Read()) { list.Add(new CoeffItem(Convert.ToInt32(dr["nIDModelAquacad"].ToString()), Convert.ToInt32(dr["nIDModeleBorne"].ToString()), Convert.ToDouble(dr["fCoefficient"].ToString()))); } MessageBox.Show("Lecture du reader"); dr.Close(); MessageBox.Show("Fermeture du reader"); } catch (OleDbException err) { MessageBox.Show("Erreur dans la lecture des modèles/coefficient: " + err.ToString()); } return list; } I think it's something related to the connection string but why only on that computer. • reloading page while an ajax request in progress gives empty response and status as zero

    - by Jayapal Chandran
    Hi, Browser is firefox 3.0.10 I am requesting a page using ajax. The response is in progress may be in readyState less than 4. In this mean time i am trying to reload the page. What happens is the request ends giving an empty response. I used alert to find what string has been given as response text. I assume that by this time the ready state 4 is reached. why it is empty string. when i alert the xmlhttpobject.status it displayed 0. when i alert the xmlhttpobject.statusText an exception occurs stating that NOT AVAILABLE. when i read in the document http://www.devx.com/webdev/Article/33024/0/page/2 it said for 3 and 4 status and statusText are available but when i tested only status is available but not satausText Here is a sample code. consider that i have requested a page and my callback function is as follows function cb(rt) { if(rt.readyState==4) { alert(rt.status); alert(rt.statusText); // which throws an exception } } and my server side script is as follows sleep(30); //flushing little drop down code besides these i noticed the following... assume again i am requesting the above script using ajax. now there will be an idle time till 30 seconds is over before that 30 seconds i press refresh. i got xmlhttpobject.status as 0 but still the browser did not reload the page untill that 30 seconds. WHY? so what is happening when i refresh a page before an ajax request is complete is the status value is set to zero and the ready state is set to 4 but the page still waits for the response from the server to end... what is happening... THE REASON FOR ME TO FACE SOME THING LIKE THIS IS AS FOLLOWS. when ever i do an ajax request ... if the process succeeded like inserting some thing or deleting something i popup a div stating that updated successfully and i will reload the page. but if there is any error then i do not reload the page instead i just alert that unable to process this request. what happens if the user reloads the page before any of this request is complete is i get an empty response which in my calculation is there is a server error. so i was debugging the ajax response to filter out that the connection has been interrupted because the user had pressed reload. so in this time i don't want to display unable to process this request when the user reloads the page before the request has been complete. oh... a long story. IT IS A LONG DESCRIPTION SO THAT I CAN MAKE EXPERTS UNDERSTAND MY DOUBT. so what i want form the above. any type of answer would clear my mind. or i would like to say all type of answers. EDIT: 19 dec. If i did not get any correct answer then i would delete this question and will rewrite with examples. else i will accept after experimenting.

  • NullPointerException using EndlessAdapter with SimpleAdapter

    - by android_dev
    Hello, I am using EndlessAdapter from commonsguy with a SimpleAdapter. I can load data when I make a scroll down without problems, but I have a NullPointerException when I make a scroll up. The problem is in the method @Override public View getView(int position, View convertView,ViewGroup parent) { return wrapped.getView(position, convertView, parent); } from the class AdapterWrapper. The call to wrapped.getView(position, convertView,parent) raises the exception and I don´t know why. This is my implementation of EndlessAdapter: //Inner class in SearchTextActivity class DemoAdapter extends EndlessAdapter { private RotateAnimation rotate = null; DemoAdapter(ArrayList<HashMap<String, String>> result) { super(new SimpleAdapter(SearchTracksActivity.this, result, R.layout.textlist_item, PROJECTION_COLUMNS, VIEW_MAPPINGS)); rotate = new RotateAnimation( 0f, 360f, Animation.RELATIVE_TO_SELF, 0.5f, Animation.RELATIVE_TO_SELF, 0.5f); rotate.setDuration(600); rotate.setRepeatMode(Animation.RESTART); rotate.setRepeatCount(Animation.INFINITE); } @Override protected View getPendingView(ViewGroup parent) { View row=getLayoutInflater().inflate(R.layout.textlist_item, null); View child=row.findViewById(R.id.title); child.setVisibility(View.GONE); child=row.findViewById(R.id.username); child.setVisibility(View.GONE); child=row.findViewById(R.id.throbber); child.setVisibility(View.VISIBLE); child.startAnimation(rotate); return row; } @Override @SuppressWarnings("unchecked") protected void rebindPendingView(int position, View row) { HashMap<String, String> res = (HashMap<String, String>)getWrappedAdapter().getItem(position); View child=row.findViewById(R.id.title); ((TextView)child).setText(res.get("title")); child.setVisibility(View.VISIBLE); child=row.findViewById(R.id.username); ((TextView)child).setText(res.get("username")); child.setVisibility(View.VISIBLE); ImageView throbber=(ImageView)row.findViewById(R.id.throbber); throbber.setVisibility(View.GONE); throbber.clearAnimation(); } boolean mFinal = true; @Override protected boolean cacheInBackground() { EditText searchText = (EditText)findViewById(R.id.searchText); String textToSearch = searchText.getText().toString(); Util.getSc().searchText(textToSearch , offset, limit, new ResultListener<ArrayList<Text>>() { @Override public void onError(Exception e) { e.toString(); mFinal = false; } @Override public void onSuccess(ArrayList<Text> result) { if(result.size() == 0){ mFinal = false; }else{ texts.addAll(result); offset++; } } }); return mFinal; } @Override protected void appendCachedData() { for(Text text : texts){ result.add(text.getMapValues()); } texts.clear(); } } And I use it this way: public class SearchTextActivity extends AbstractListActivity { private static final String[] PROJECTION_COLUMNS = new String[] { TextStore.Text.TITLE, TextStore.Text.USER_NAME}; private static final int[] VIEW_MAPPINGS = new int[] { R.id.Text_title, R.id.Text_username}; ArrayList<HashMap<String, String>> result; static ArrayList<Text> texts; static int offset = 0; static int limit = 1; @Override void onAbstractCreate(Bundle savedInstance) { setContentView(R.layout.search_tracks); setupViews(); } private void setupViews() { ImageButton searchButton = (ImageButton)findViewById(R.id.searchButton); updateView(); } SimpleAdapter adapter; void updateView(){ if(result == null) { result = new ArrayList<HashMap<String, String>>(); } if(tracks == null) { texts = new ArrayList<Text>(); } } public void sendQuery(View v){ offset = 0; texts.clear(); result.clear(); setListAdapter(new DemoAdapter(result)); } } Does anybody knows what could be the problem? Thank you in advance

  • How to play audio in Java Application

    - by user577829
    I'm making a java application and I need to play audio. I'm playing mainly small sound files of my cannon firing (its a cannon shooting game) and the projectiles exploding, though I plan on having looping background music. I have found two different methods to accomplish this, but both don't work how I want. The first method is literally a method: public void playSoundFile(File file) {//http://java.ittoolbox.com/groups/technical-functional/java-l/sound-in-an-application-90681 try { //get an AudioInputStream AudioInputStream ais = AudioSystem.getAudioInputStream(file); //get the AudioFormat for the AudioInputStream AudioFormat audioformat = ais.getFormat(); System.out.println("Format: " + audioformat.toString()); System.out.println("Encoding: " + audioformat.getEncoding()); System.out.println("SampleRate:" + audioformat.getSampleRate()); System.out.println("SampleSizeInBits: " + audioformat.getSampleSizeInBits()); System.out.println("Channels: " + audioformat.getChannels()); System.out.println("FrameSize: " + audioformat.getFrameSize()); System.out.println("FrameRate: " + audioformat.getFrameRate()); System.out.println("BigEndian: " + audioformat.isBigEndian()); //ULAW format to PCM format conversion if ((audioformat.getEncoding() == AudioFormat.Encoding.ULAW) || (audioformat.getEncoding() == AudioFormat.Encoding.ALAW)) { AudioFormat newformat = new AudioFormat(AudioFormat.Encoding.PCM_SIGNED, audioformat.getSampleRate(), audioformat.getSampleSizeInBits() * 2, audioformat.getChannels(), audioformat.getFrameSize() * 2, audioformat.getFrameRate(), true); ais = AudioSystem.getAudioInputStream(newformat, ais); audioformat = newformat; } //checking for a supported output line DataLine.Info datalineinfo = new DataLine.Info(SourceDataLine.class, audioformat); if (!AudioSystem.isLineSupported(datalineinfo)) { //System.out.println("Line matching " + datalineinfo + " is not supported."); } else { //System.out.println("Line matching " + datalineinfo + " is supported."); //opening the sound output line SourceDataLine sourcedataline = (SourceDataLine) AudioSystem.getLine(datalineinfo); sourcedataline.open(audioformat); sourcedataline.start(); //Copy data from the input stream to the output data line int framesizeinbytes = audioformat.getFrameSize(); int bufferlengthinframes = sourcedataline.getBufferSize() / 8; int bufferlengthinbytes = bufferlengthinframes * framesizeinbytes; byte[] sounddata = new byte[bufferlengthinbytes]; int numberofbytesread = 0; while ((numberofbytesread = ais.read(sounddata)) != -1) { int numberofbytesremaining = numberofbytesread; sourcedataline.write(sounddata, 0, numberofbytesread); } } } catch (Exception e) { e.printStackTrace(); } } The problem with this is that my entire program stops until the sound file is finished, or at least nearly finished. The second method is this: File file = new File("Launch1.wav"); AudioClip clip; try { clip = JApplet.newAudioClip(file.toURL()); clip.play(); } catch (Exception e) { e.getMessage(); } The problem I have here is that every time the sound file ends early or doesn't play at all depending on where I place the code. Is their any way to play sound without the above mentioned problems? Am I doing something wrong? Any help is greatly appreciated.

  • Improve heavy work in a loop in multithreading

    I have a little problem with my data processing. public void ParseDetails() { for (int i = 0; i < mListAppInfo.Count; ++i) { ParseOneDetail(i); } } For 300 records, it usually takes around 13-15 minutes.     So it is my first real Android program (!hello world), but i do have java experience.The program compiles fine, but on running it crashes as soon as it opens (tried debugging, but it crashes before it hits my breakpoint). Was looking for any advice from anyone who is more experienced with android. package org.me.tipcalculator; import android.app.Activity; import android.os.Bundle; import android.widget.TextView; import android.view.View; import android.widget.Button; import android.widget.EditText; import java.text.NumberFormat; import android.util.Log; public class TipCalculator extends Activity { public static final String tag = "TipCalculator"; /** Called when the activity is first created. */ @Override public void onCreate(Bundle icicle) { super.onCreate(icicle); setContentView(R.layout.main); final EditText mealpricefield = (EditText) findViewById(R.id.mealprice); final TextView answerfield = (TextView) findViewById(R.id.answer); final Button button = (Button) findViewById(R.id.calculate); button.setOnClickListener(new Button.OnClickListener() { public void onClick(View v) { try { Log.i(tag, "onClick invoked."); String mealprice = mealpricefield.getText().toString(); Log.i(tag, "mealprice is [" + mealprice + "]"); String answer = ""; if (mealprice.indexOf("$") == -1) { mealprice = "$" + mealprice; } float fmp = 0.0F; NumberFormat nf = java.text.NumberFormat.getCurrencyInstance(); fmp = nf.parse(mealprice).floatValue(); fmp *= 1.2; Log.i(tag, "Total Meal Price (unformatted) is [" + fmp + "]"); answer = "Full Price, including 20% Tip: " + nf.format(fmp); answerfield.setText(answer); Log.i(tag, "onClick Complete"); } catch(java.text.ParseException pe){ Log.i (tag ,"Parse exception caught"); answerfield.setText("Failed to parse amount?"); } catch(Exception e){ Log.e (tag ,"Failed to Calculate Tip:" + e.getMessage()); e.printStackTrace(); answerfield.setText(e.getMessage()); } } } ); } Just in case it helps heres the xml <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:orientation="vertical" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent"> <TextView android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:text="Android Tip Calculator"/> <EditText android:id="@+id/mealprice" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:autoText="true"/> <Button android:id="@+id/calculate" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:text="Calculate Tip"/> <TextView android:id= "@+id/answer" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:text=""/> </LinearLayout>

  • Android inserting into SQLite JSON object

    - by Nizmon
    I'm trying to insert the below json response from a server into my sqlite DB and then read from the DB. The problem I am getting is that when I run my code it compiles fine and runs with no errors. But when trying to read from the DB I just get back what seems like an empty string so I know that the table is being created. I have the correct permissions within the manifest. I have also reference all my classes within there. {"locations": [{"locations":"Newcastle","location_id":"1"},{"locations":"London","location_id":"2"},{"locations":"Sunderland","location_id":"3"}]} Below where I use: Log.v("one", one); Log.v("two", two); below It only prints out the first set within the JSON object so Newcastle and 1. I don't get any errors at all which is stumping me. When I call the method getName within the Location class I just seem to get a blank string back! // This class creates the table as well as inserts and returns data from the sqlite DB public class Location { private DatabaseHelper mDbHelper; private SQLiteDatabase mDb; private final Context mCtx; private static final String vd_location = ("CREATE TABLE " + TABLE_VD_LOCATION + " (" + LOCATION + " TEXT," + LOCATION_ID + " TEXT " +");"); private static class DatabaseHelper extends SQLiteOpenHelper { DatabaseHelper(Context context) { super(context, DATABASE_NAME, null, DATABASE_VERSION); } @Override public void onCreate(SQLiteDatabase db) { db.execSQL(vd_location); } @Override public void onUpgrade(SQLiteDatabase db, int oldVersion, int newVersion) { } } public Location(Context ctx) { this.mCtx = ctx; } public Location open() throws SQLException { this.mDbHelper = new DatabaseHelper(this.mCtx); this.mDb = this.mDbHelper.getWritableDatabase(); return this; } public void close() { this.mDbHelper.close(); } public void addOffer (JSONObject json){ try{ JSONArray earthquakes = json.getJSONArray("offers"); for(int i=0;i<earthquakes.length();i++){ open(); JSONObject e = earthquakes.getJSONObject(i); String one = e.getString("locations"); String two = e.getString("location_id"); Log.v("one", one); Log.v("two", two); mDb.execSQL("INSERT INTO " + TABLE_VD_LOCATION + " ( locations, location_id ) " + "VALUES (?, ?)", new Object [] { e.getString("locations"), e.getString("location_id")}); close(); } }catch(Exception e){ }finally{ close(); } } public String getName(long l) throws SQLException{ String[] columns = new String[]{ LOCATION, LOCATION_ID}; Cursor c = mDb.query(TABLE_VD_LOCATION, columns, null, null, null, null, null); String result = ""; int iRow = c.getColumnIndex(LOCATION); int iName = c.getColumnIndex(LOCATION_ID); for (c.moveToFirst(); !c.isAfterLast(); c.moveToNext()){ result = result + c.getString(iRow) + " " + c.getString(iName) + " " + "\n"; } return result; } } // This code reads from the DB, this is just some very hacked together code so excuse it, it also works when used on other tables public void getData(){ boolean didItWork = true; try { Location loc = new Location(this); loc.open(); String data = loc.getName(0); loc.close(); Dialog t = new Dialog(this); t.setTitle("get" + data); t.show(); } catch (Exception e) { didItWork = false; String error = e.toString(); Dialog d = new Dialog(this); d.setTitle("Dang it!"); TextView tv = new TextView(this); tv.setText(error); d.setContentView(tv); d.show(); } finally { if (didItWork) { Dialog d = new Dialog(this); d.setTitle("Heck Yea!"); TextView tv = new TextView(this); tv.setText("Success"); d.setContentView(tv); d.show(); //entry.close(); } } }

  • NullPointerException in generated JSP code calling setJspId()

    - by Dobbo
    I am trying to deploy the Duke's Bank example form the J2EE 5 tutorial on JBoss 7.1.1. I have only used (unaltered) the source, and the standard XML configuration files for deployment, part of the exercise here is to see how I might structure a JSP based project of my own. The exception I get is as follows: ERROR [[jsp]] Servlet.service() for servlet jsp threw exception: java.lang.NullPointerException at javax.faces.webapp.UIComponentClassicTagBase.setJspId(UIComponentClassicTagBase.java:1858) [jboss-jsf-api_2.1_spec-2.0.1.Final.jar:2.0.1.Final] at org.apache.jsp.main_jsp._jspx_meth_f_005fview_005f0(main_jsp.java:99) at org.apache.jsp.main_jsp._jspService(main_jsp.java:76) at org.apache.jasper.runtime.HttpJspBase.service(HttpJspBase.java:70) [jbossweb-7.0.13.Final.jar:] at javax.servlet.http.HttpServlet.service(HttpServlet.java:847) [jboss-servlet-api_3.0_spec-1.0.0.Final.jar:1.0.0.Final] at org.apache.jasper.servlet.JspServletWrapper.service(JspServletWrapper.java:369) [jbossweb-7.0.13.Final.jar:] at org.apache.jasper.servlet.JspServlet.serviceJspFile(JspServlet.java:326) [jbossweb-7.0.13.Final.jar:] at org.apache.jasper.servlet.JspServlet.service(JspServlet.java:253) [jbossweb-7.0.13.Final.jar:] at javax.servlet.http.HttpServlet.service(HttpServlet.java:847) [jboss-servlet-api_3.0_spec-1.0.0.Final.jar:1.0.0.Final] at org.apache.catalina.core.ApplicationFilterChain.internalDoFilter(ApplicationFilterChain.java:329) [jbossweb-7.0.13.Final.jar:] at org.apache.catalina.core.ApplicationFilterChain.doFilter(ApplicationFilterChain.java:248) [jbossweb-7.0.13.Final.jar:] at org.apache.catalina.core.StandardWrapperValve.invoke(StandardWrapperValve.java:275) [jbossweb-7.0.13.Final.jar:] at org.apache.catalina.core.StandardContextValve.invoke(StandardContextValve.java:161) [jbossweb-7.0.13.Final.jar:] at org.apache.catalina.authenticator.AuthenticatorBase.invoke(AuthenticatorBase.java:397) [jbossweb-7.0.13.Final.jar:] at org.jboss.as.jpa.interceptor.WebNonTxEmCloserValve.invoke(WebNonTxEmCloserValve.java:50) [jboss-as-jpa-7.1.1.Final.jar:7.1.1.Final] at org.jboss.as.web.security.SecurityContextAssociationValve.invoke(SecurityContextAssociationValve.java:153) [jboss-as-web-7.1.1.Final.jar:7.1.1.Final] at org.apache.catalina.core.StandardHostValve.invoke(StandardHostValve.java:155) [jbossweb-7.0.13.Final.jar:] at org.apache.catalina.valves.ErrorReportValve.invoke(ErrorReportValve.java:102) [jbossweb-7.0.13.Final.jar:] at org.apache.catalina.core.StandardEngineValve.invoke(StandardEngineValve.java:109) [jbossweb-7.0.13.Final.jar:] at org.apache.catalina.connector.CoyoteAdapter.service(CoyoteAdapter.java:368) [jbossweb-7.0.13.Final.jar:] at org.apache.coyote.http11.Http11Processor.process(Http11Processor.java:877) [jbossweb-7.0.13.Final.jar:] at org.apache.coyote.http11.Http11Protocol$Http11ConnectionHandler.process(Http11Protocol.java:671) [jbossweb-7.0.13.Final.jar:] at org.apache.tomcat.util.net.JIoEndpoint$Worker.run(JIoEndpoint.java:930) [jbossweb-7.0.13.Final.jar:] at java.lang.Thread.run(Thread.java:636) [rt.jar:1.6.0_18] I have not given any JBoss configuration files, the WAR's WEB-INF part looks like this: $ jar tvf build/lib/dukebank-web.war 0 Sat Dec 15 22:00:12 GMT 2012 META-INF/ 123 Sat Dec 15 22:00:10 GMT 2012 META-INF/MANIFEST.MF 0 Sat Dec 15 22:00:12 GMT 2012 WEB-INF/ 2514 Fri Dec 14 14:29:20 GMT 2012 WEB-INF/web.xml 1348 Sat Dec 15 08:19:46 GMT 2012 WEB-INF/dukesBank.tld 7245 Sat Dec 15 08:19:46 GMT 2012 WEB-INF/faces-config.xml 2153 Sat Dec 15 08:19:46 GMT 2012 WEB-INF/tutorial-template.tld 0 Sat Dec 15 22:00:12 GMT 2012 WEB-INF/classes/...   • Object validator - is this good design?

    - by neo2862
    I'm working on a project where the API methods I write have to return different "views" of domain objects, like this: namespace View.Product { public class SearchResult : View { public string Name { get; set; } public decimal Price { get; set; } } public class Profile : View { public string Name { get; set; } public decimal Price { get; set; } [UseValidationRuleset("FreeText")] public string Description { get; set; } [SuppressValidation] public string Comment { get; set; } } } These are also the arguments of setter methods in the API which have to be validated before storing them in the DB. I wrote an object validator that lets the user define validation rulesets in an XML file and checks if an object conforms to those rules: [Validatable] public class View { [SuppressValidation] public ValidationError[] ValidationErrors { get { return Validator.Validate(this); } } } public static class Validator { private static Dictionary<string, Ruleset> Rulesets; static Validator() { // read rulesets from xml } public static ValidationError[] Validate(object obj) { // check if obj is decorated with ValidatableAttribute // if not, return an empty array (successful validation) // iterate over the properties of obj // - if the property is decorated with SuppressValidationAttribute, // continue // - if it is decorated with UseValidationRulesetAttribute, // use the ruleset specified to call // Validate(object value, string rulesetName, string FieldName) // - otherwise, get the name of the property using reflection and // use that as the ruleset name } private static List<ValidationError> Validate(object obj, string fieldName, string rulesetName) { // check if the ruleset exists, if not, throw exception // call the ruleset's Validate method and return the results } } public class Ruleset { public Type Type { get; set; } public Rule[] Rules { get; set; } public List<ValidationError> Validate(object property, string propertyName) { // check if property is of type Type // if not, throw exception // iterate over the Rules and call their Validate methods // return a list of their return values } } public abstract class Rule { public Type Type { get; protected set; } public abstract ValidationError Validate(object value, string propertyName); } public class StringRegexRule : Rule { public string Regex { get; set; } public StringRegexRule() { Type = typeof(string); } public override ValidationError Validate(object value, string propertyName) { // see if Regex matches value and return // null or a ValidationError } } Phew... Thanks for reading all of this. I've already implemented it and it works nicely, and I'm planning to extend it to validate the contents of IEnumerable fields and other fields that are Validatable. What I'm particularly concerned about is that if no ruleset is specified, the validator tries to use the name of the property as the ruleset name. (If you don't want that behavior, you can use [SuppressValidation].) This makes the code much less cluttered (no need to use [UseValidationRuleset("something")] on every single property) but it somehow doesn't feel right. I can't decide if it's awful or awesome. What do you think? Any suggestions on the other parts of this design are welcome too. I'm not very experienced and I'm grateful for any help. Also, is "Validatable" a good name? To me, it sounds pretty weird but I'm not a native English speaker.

  • "didChangeSection:" NSfetchedResultsController delegate method not being called

    - by robenk
    I have a standard split view controller, with a detail view and a table view. Pressing a button in the detail view can cause the an object to change its placement in the table view's ordering. This works fine, as long as the resulting ordering change doesn't result in a section being added or removed. I.e. an object can change it's ordering in a section or switch from one section to another. Those ordering changes work correctly without problems. But, if the object tries to move to a section that doesn't exist yet, or is the last object to leave a section (therefore requiring the section its leaving to be removed), then the application crashes. NSFetchedResultsControllerDelegate has methods to handle sections being added and removed that should be called in those cases. But those delegate methods aren't being called for some reason. The code in question, is boilerplate: - (void)controllerWillChangeContent:(NSFetchedResultsController *)controller { NSLog(@"willChangeContent"); [self.tableView beginUpdates]; } - (void)controller:(NSFetchedResultsController *)controller didChangeSection:(id <NSFetchedResultsSectionInfo>)sectionInfo atIndex:(NSUInteger)sectionIndex forChangeType:(NSFetchedResultsChangeType)type { NSLog(@"didChangeSection"); switch(type) { case NSFetchedResultsChangeInsert: [self.tableView insertSections:[NSIndexSet indexSetWithIndex:sectionIndex] withRowAnimation:UITableViewRowAnimationFade]; break; case NSFetchedResultsChangeDelete: [self.tableView deleteSections:[NSIndexSet indexSetWithIndex:sectionIndex] withRowAnimation:UITableViewRowAnimationFade]; break; } } - (void)controller:(NSFetchedResultsController *)controller didChangeObject:(id)anObject atIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath forChangeType:(NSFetchedResultsChangeType)type newIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)newIndexPath { NSLog(@"didChangeObject"); UITableView *tableView = self.tableView; switch(type) { case NSFetchedResultsChangeInsert: [tableView insertRowsAtIndexPaths:[NSArray arrayWithObject:newIndexPath] withRowAnimation:UITableViewRowAnimationFade]; break; case NSFetchedResultsChangeDelete: [tableView deleteRowsAtIndexPaths:[NSArray arrayWithObject:indexPath] withRowAnimation:UITableViewRowAnimationFade]; break; case NSFetchedResultsChangeUpdate: [self configureCell:[tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:indexPath] atIndexPath:indexPath]; break; case NSFetchedResultsChangeMove: [tableView deleteRowsAtIndexPaths:[NSArray arrayWithObject:indexPath] withRowAnimation:UITableViewRowAnimationFade]; [tableView insertRowsAtIndexPaths:[NSArray arrayWithObject:newIndexPath]withRowAnimation:UITableViewRowAnimationFade]; break; } } - (void)controllerDidChangeContent:(NSFetchedResultsController *)controller { NSLog(@"didChangeContent"); [self.tableView endUpdates]; [detailViewController.reminderView update]; } Starting the application, and then causing the last object to leave a section results in the following output: 2011-01-08 23:40:18.910 Reminders[54647:207] willChangeContent 2011-01-08 23:40:18.912 Reminders[54647:207] didChangeObject 2011-01-08 23:40:18.914 Reminders[54647:207] didChangeContent 2011-01-08 23:40:18.915 Reminders[54647:207] *** Assertion failure in -[UITableView _endCellAnimationsWithContext:], /SourceCache/UIKit_Sim/UIKit-1145.66/UITableView.m:825 2011-01-08 23:40:18.917 Reminders[54647:207] Serious application error. Exception was caught during Core Data change processing: Invalid update: invalid number of sections. The number of sections contained in the table view after the update (5) must be equal to the number of sections contained in the table view before the update (6), plus or minus the number of sections inserted or deleted (0 inserted, 0 deleted). with userInfo (null) As you can see, "willChangeContent", "didChangeObject" (moving the object in question), and "didChangeContent" were all called properly. Based on the Apple's NSFetchedResultsControllerDelegate documentation "didChangeSection" should have been called before "didChangeObject", which would have prevented the exception causing the crash. So I guess the question is how do I assure that didChangeSection gets called? Thanks in advance for any help!
