From what I've read the Redirect Host response has something to do with the fact that the two hosts are in the same network and there being a shorter route (or so I understood). They are in fact in the same physical network, but why would there be a better route if they are not on the same subnet (they can't see each other)? What am I missing? • Android ADT Eclipse plugin, parseSDKContent failed

  I've just set up my first Android development environment consisting of Eclipse 3.5 Mac OSX 10.5 Android SDK for x86 macs ADT Eclipse plugin 0.9.6 I've set set $PATH to my SDK/tools directory (which shouldn't matter if I only use Eclipse right?) and started Eclipse, but when I try to set the path to the SDK in Eclipse, i get the error "parseSdkContent failed".   Basically, I'm trying to grab an EXE from CNet's Download.com So i created web parser and so far all is going well. • AWS Amazon EC2 - password-less SSH login for non-root users using PEM keypairs

  We've got a couple of clusters running on AWS (HAProxy/Solr, PGPool/PostgreSQL) and we've setup scripts to allow new slave instances to be auto-included into the clusters by updating their IPs to config files held on S3, then SSHing to the master instance to kick them to download the revised config and restart the service. It's all working nicely, but in testing we're using our master pem for SSH which means it needs to be stored on an instance. Not good. I want a non-root user that can use an AWS keypair who will have sudo access to run the download-config-and-restart scripts, but nothing else. rbash seems to be the way to go, but I understand this can be insecure unless setup correctly. So what security holes are there in this approach: New AWS keypair created for user.pem (not really called 'user') New user on instances: user Public key for user is in ~user/.ssh/authorized_keys (taken by creating new instance with user.pem, and copying it from /root/.ssh/authorized_keys) Private key for user is in ~user/.ssh/user.pem 'user' has login shell of /home/user/bin/rbash ~user/bin/ contains symbolic links to /bin/rbash and /usr/bin/sudo /etc/sudoers has entry "user ALL=(root) NOPASSWD: ~user/.bashrc sets PATH to /home/user/bin/ only ~user/.inputrc has 'set disable-completion on' to prevent double tabbing from 'sudo /' to find paths. ~user/ -R is owned by root with read-only access to user, except for ~user/.ssh which has write access for user (for writing known_hosts), and ~user/bin/* which are +x Inter-instance communication uses 'ssh -o StrictHostKeyChecking=no -i ~user/.ssh/user.pem user@ sudo ' Any thoughts would be welcome.   I am having problems getting a databound radiobutton listbox in WPF to respond to user input and reflect changes to the data it's bound to (i.e., to making changes in the code). The user input side works fine (i.e., I can select a radiobutton and the list behaves as expected). But every attempt to change the selection in code fails. Silently (i.e., no exception). • "If not exists" fails on SQL CE

  Hi I've got an unexpected problem. I'm making a script to update the schema on a SQL CE database. This won't run: if not exists ( Select column_name from information_schema.columns where column_name = 'TempTestField' and table_name = 'Inventory_Master_File' ) Alter table Inventory_Master_File add TempTestField nvarchar(10) null I think this is because I'm using stuff that isn't supported in SQL CE. Anyone know how to do this? I've tried rearranging the script and can't get anything to work. I tried "alter table ... where not exists ...". Note that the "select" part runs fine and also the "alter" part. The problem is "if not exists". I know there are some other postings regarding problems like this using SQL CE but I couldn't find an answer to this particular problem. I really don't want to do this in C# code. I need to do this in a SQL script. I can't believe something this basic is causing so much difficulty :(

The provisions look in order, and the app builds to my iphone 3gs just fine. The app used to build just fine to my ipod touch, so I'm flustered what could have changed and wondering if anyone has any thoughts on what might be causing this issue. The build logs are below. • Using JBoss EL with Websphere

  Hey, I'm doing a project which is going to run on Websphere. I'm using JSF/Facelets/Richfaces for this project. I want to use the JBoss EL implementation as it allows calling methods with parameters from EL etc. ... usually this is accomplished by getting the JBoss EL jar and then putting this in the web.xml: <context-param> <param-name>com.sun.faces.expressionFactory</param-name> <param-value>org.jboss.el.ExpressionFactoryImpl</param-value> </context-param> However this isn't working ... I don't know if its a problem with Websphere or ...??? • Problem Rendering SIFR with revision 436 on IE6 and IE7

  Hi, I seem to have a problem with SIFR3. I'm using version 436 and from all my testing it appears to be a problem associated with IE6 and IE7 as I cannot replicate the issue in Firefox, Chrome, Safari for Windows, or even IE8. The problem is occurring on my company's website and can be seen here: http://www.wyldeia.co.uk/blog.php When you first go to the page in IE6 or IE7 it appears to render fine. However if you click away onto another page and then click the back button in the browser, all of the text is replaced by an error saying "Rendered with sIFR3 revision 436". If you refresh the page, then the problem goes away, that is until you browse away and come back again. I've tried this on two separate machines both running IE7.0.6000.16809, and a further separate machine running IE6 which I then upgraded to IE8. I thought initially it might be Flash player related but on upgrading from version 9 to 10 of the flash player the problem remains. Further digging around indicated that the error can be caused by having a corrupted flash font file, or having one present that was generated with a previous revision of SIFR3. However I have exported the flash font file using the supplied fla with revision 436 but the problem remains. Usually I like to track the answer down myself but as it is I'm at a bit of a loss on this one so if anyone has any ideas what might be happening here then I would be very grateful! Regards, Mark

• UISplitView show different views in the detail pane

  How can I change the view in the Details pane of the UISplitView so that its a completely different view? Im having a fair amount of trouble understanding how its all wired up and where things should go at the moment, could someone please enlighten me? What I would love to be able to do is to show a specific view based on what the user has selected in the UITableView on the left pane (this view could be an image, or a more complex view of a news article, etc... many different options) then when the user turns the iPad into portrait view, that view that was in the details pane changes to be its equivalent portrait view version. Does this make sense? How on earth would I do that? Just to brainstorm, here is what I was thinking: Create a Split View project Create 2 NIBs for each view: (with accompanying view controllers???) * PortraitNewsStory * LandscapeNewsStory * PortraitImageBrowser * LandscapeImageBrowser * etc... Create a UISplitView control using XCode Capture when a user rotates the iPad (should this be done in the RootViewController.m ?)   Hello, I've noticed from here that the contents is only the header Revision 16532: /tags/3.3.2.SR1/samples/richfaces-demo/src/main/java/org/richfaces/demo/dataTableScroller and no listing of the dataTableScrollerBean.java file which the Edit Table/Modal Panel demo JSF code refers to. Where can I access it? I'd like to try the demo out on my machine. I've posted to RichFaces but SO tends to respond faster. Thanks Mark EDIT I've found some code (here) on a forum fortunately which is as close as I've come so far. Looks like it was written by one of the RichFaces authors, but when I included it, Eclipse is complaining about the Facet object which together with another forum and these import javax.ejb.Stateful; import javax.ejb.Stateless; suggest I may be missing j2ee.jar. But I'm running this out of Tomcat which is not an ejb container. I didn't think this RichFaces component required JBoss or equivalent so I must be doing something wrong. • Problem using Flash Components in multiple SWC files

  [Edit: Short version - how do you properly handle namespace collisions in SWC files if one SWC has fewer classes from that namespace than another?] I have a rather large Flash application which I'm building in Flash Builder (because coding/debugging in the Flash IDE is... not good) and I've got a ton of external SWC files which I'm linking in to my application. This has worked well so far - the file size is on the large side, but it's a lot simpler than loading in SWFs, especially since I am extending most of the classes in each SWC and adding custom code that way (it's a very design-heavy app.) The problem I'm having is when I have Flash Components, like ComboBox or TextInput, in more than one SWC. • SubSonic missing stored procedures in StoredProcedures.cs when generated with SubCommander sonic.exe

  We have been using SubSonic to generate our DAL with a lot of success on VS2005 and SubSonic Tools 2.0.3. SubSonic Tools do not work on VS2008 (as far as we can work out) so we have tried to use SubCommander\sonic.exe and are now hitting some problems. When we regenerate the project using SubCommander\sonic.exe and try to compile we get some errors reporting missing members (which should have been automatically generated based on the stored procedures we have). On closer inspection it looks like my StoredProcedures.cs file is missing some (not all) automatically generated methods for my classes. As an example, I have 2 procs: [dbo]._ClassA_Func1 [dbo]._ClassA_Func2 Only one of these is being generated in the StoredProcedures.cs file. These methods generate fine using the SubSonic Tools plugin. We have tried now with versions 2.1 and 2.2 of SubSonic with the same issue. We are still on .NET 2.0 so cannot use SubSonic 3.0. I have checked the permissions of both procs using fn_my_permissions and they seem identical. Does anyone have any ideas on what I can check? Thanks -- Mark

I create a template with places that should be substituted with %variable%. • AJAX deeplinking with jQuery Address

  Hello, I have a website which has many pages: For example: HOME: http://mywebsite.com/index.html SOME PAGE: http://mywebsite.com/categorie/somepage.html I decided to make my pages load dynamically with AJAX without reloading the page. So I decided to use jQuery Address plugin ( http://www.asual.com/jquery/address/docs/ ) in order to allow deeplinking and Back-Forward navigation: <script type="text/javascript" src="uploads/scripts/jquery.address-1.2rc.min.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> $('a').address(function() { return $(this).attr('href').replace(/^#/, ''); }); </script> Now, after installing the plugin, if I go on http://mywebsite.com/index.html (HOME) and click on SOME PAGE link, jquery successfully loads the http://mywebsite.com/categorie/somepage.html without reloading the page and the address bar on my browser displays: http://mywebsite.com/index.html/#/categorie/somepage.html which is great! However, the problem is: if I copy this dynamically generated URL: http://mywebsite.com/index.html/#/categorie/somepage.html into a web browser address bar, it will take into my website index.html page and not to the "SOME PAGE" page. Also, The Forward/Back buttons don't work correctly, they only replace the address in the URL bar but the content stays the same. I suppose that I need to write some JavaScript rule that associates the dynamic URL with the correct page? Some help would be appreciated. Thanks :)

• Java and tomcat vs ASP.NET and IIS

  Until recently I'd considered myself to be a pretty good web programmer (coming up for 10yrs commercial experience on a variety of e-commerce, static and enterprise applications). I'm self taught and have always used the Microsoft product stack (ASP, ASP.NET)... My applications are always functional, relatively bug free, but have never been lightening quick. As a frequent web user I always found this to be the norm... how fast are the websites from the big tech players (eBay, Facebook, Microsoft, IBM, Dell, Telerik etc etc) - in truth none are particularly fast. I always attributed this to "the way things are with web apps"... ...then I cam across a product called Jira from atlasian and this has stopped me in my tracks... This application is fast, and I mean blindingly fast.. too fast to time the switches between pages, fully live content, lots of images and data and cross references etc etc... I run this on an intranet, with a large application DB, and this is running on a very normal server (single processor, SATA HDD, 8GB RAM). Am I missing something?? Are my programming techniques that bad?? I am wondering if this speed gain is down to it being written in Java and running on Tomcat. Does anyone have any benchmarks to compare JSP / ASP or Tomcat / IIS??? Thanks, Mark NOTE: this isn't a blatant plug for Jira. I don't see much out there about escaping XPath strings but everything I've found seems to be variations on using concat (which won't help because neither ' nor " are available) or html entities. Not using quotes for the attributes doesn't throw an error but fails because it's not the actual XPath string I need. I don't see anything in the YQL docs about how to handle escaping. I'm aware of how edge-casey this is but was hoping they'd have some sort of escaping guide.
