  • HTTP Error 405 from a Tooltip loading another page.

    I have a web page that uses tooltips. I am using Prototip specifically. One of the options is to use Ajax to load another page within the tool. The Ajax functionality is coming from the Prototype framework, http://www.prototypejs.org/api/ajax/request/. All I really want to load is an image. I just don't want the image to load on page creation because there are so many images. So when I put a link to a .jpg file or even a .html file I receive the error HTTP Error 405.0 - Method Not Allowed from IIS. I am running IIS7. Is this an issue with my code or an issue with IIS7? Also, the other version of the error I am getting is The HTTP verb POST used to access path '/Images/Items/tech_over_RST.jpg' is not allowed. I receive this version of the error message when I run in debug mode from VS2010. I am also using URL Routing but not MVC.

  • What emoticons can you put into class names in your language?

    I've just had a "discussion" with a developer about naming classes in C#. My final throw away line was, "Let's not put any emoticons in our class names." I can't think of a way you could put emoticons in C# class names, but I haven't thought too hard about it. Is this possible? Does any programming language allow it? What would be the best/worst language to be able to perform this in? Update: The Scheme answer bests answers my question. It was a quick idea after a quick discussion so I'm going to accept after a short amount of time and then move on with my life. Thanks for the responses.

    Say, for instance, I have a class: public class MyFoo : IMyBar { ... } Then, I would want to use the following code: List<MyFoo> classList = new List<MyFoo>(); classList.Add(new MyFoo(1)); classList.Add(new MyFoo(2)); classList.Add(new MyFoo(3)); List<IMyBar> interfaceList = new List<IMyBar>(classList); But this produces the error: `Argument '1': cannot convert from 'IEnumerable<MyFoo>' to 'IEnumerable<IMyBar>' Why is this? Since MyFoo implements IMyBar, one would expect that an IEnumerable of MyFoo could be treated as an IEnumerable of IMyBar. A mundane real-world example being producing a list of cars, and then being told that it wasn't a list of vehicles. It's only a minor annoyance, but if anyone can shed some light on this, I would be much obliged.

    I have a set of aspx pages that each live in their own directory and reference a single aspx.cs code behind file. This has worked fine previously because I never tried to pre-compile the site. IIS must have individually compiled each aspx, linking them to the contents of App_Code but never referencing more than one aspx at a time. Now that I'm trying to pre-compile the website using Web Deployment Projects I keep getting errors about the same class being found in multiple assemblies. I can't just drop the aspx.cs in App_Code and subclass it because it wouldn't be able to find the controls on the .aspx pages when compiling. Maybe I could explicitly define every control on the page in the .cs? But would that allow them to be wired up correctly? Any other ideas on how I can reference the same Page class from multiple .aspx pages and be able to pre-compile the entire website?

  • How is it that the abstract class XmlWriter can be instantiated using XmlWriter.Create(... ?

    Hi, Just looking to clarify my understanding of the workings of the XmlWriter and abstract classes in general. My thinking is (was) that an abstract class can not be instantiated, although it can contain base methods that can be used by an inheriting class. So, while investigating XmlWriter, I find that to instantiate the XmlWriter, you call XmlWriter.Create(.... , which returns an instance of... XmlWriter, which can then be used: FileStream fs = new FileStream("XML.xml", FileMode.Create); XmlWriter w = XmlWriter.Create(fs); XmlSerializer xmlSlr = new XmlSerializer(typeof(TestClass)); xmlSlr.Serialize(fs, tsIn); This clearly works, as tested. Can anyone help me understand what is going on here. As far as I can see there is or should be no 'instance' to work with here??

    I would like to have the following kind of resource class work when deployed under RestEasy in JBoss 6: @Path("Something") public class Foo { @EJB private SomeService service @GET public Object frobnicate() { assert service != null; // JBoss blows up here return result; } } Two questions: It is a limitation of RestEasy, not of the Java EE specification, right, that RestEasy can't inject anything annotated with @EJB? What have people done to work around this limitation? My developers are about to surge forward with hard-coded JNDI lookups (e.g. context.lookup(someHardCodedNameHere)) because no one can find a workaround to this specification violation at the present time. I really want to avoid this. Lastly, I've looked at using CDI, but the story here isn't much better as RestEasy and CDI still aren't talking to each other. Thanks in advance for any pointers.

    Hello, Let's say I've a class myClass which has few properties, such as property1, property2, perperty3, etc. Now, I'd like to populate an array with each of those properties so that, I can access each of them through its index.     I have a web app where I have several elements with class="classA". I want to select and apply a function to all of them. I am doing the obvious thing, which is $(".classA").each(function () { ... }). This works just fine in Chrome/Safari/Firefox but is really slow in IE. It turns out IE has serious performance issues when selecting things by CSS class in jQuery. I was wondering if anyone has suggestions on good ways to deal with this. I can't use ID selectors because there can be multiple DOM elements I want to select.

  • WPF ItemsControl - how to know when the items finished loading, so that I can focus the first one?

    Hi everyone, I have an ItemsControl in my View, that is bound to an ObservableCollection from ViewModel. The collection is filled, and afterwards an event from VM to view is raised (think search results and SearchFinished event). I would like to move keyboard focus to the first item in an ItemsControl, but when I do it in View's code-behind when handling SearchFinished, the items are not yet rendered (the collection is filled already, but wpf's rendering is asynchronous and didn't happen yet), so there is nothing to focus (Focus() needs to have the items' visual tree already constructed). I wanted to do (myItemsControl.ItemContainerGenerator.ContainerFromIndex(0) as UIElement).Focus();, but as the 0th item is not yet loaded, ContainerFromIndex(0) returns null. I tried delaying it with Dispatcher.BeginInvoke... with low priority, but that is dependent on exact timing and usually doesn't work. How can I wait until the first item in ItemsControl is Loaded?

  • Issues loading Jquery (Galleria) script from inside an i-frame (beginner javascript?)

    Hello, first of all - I'm not entirely new to javascript, but am not fluent in it as I am with html and css, and am especially new to jQuery... so please excuse me if this questions seems easy or obvious, but after days of google I still have no solution to the problem... using jQuery 1.4.2.min, jQuery-ui-1.8.1 .... the site in question: http://homecapture.ca/sets/project_index.html The scenario: I have a tabbed menu generated from an unordered list, when a menu item is clicked it reveals an iframe which links to the page containing an image gallery. I am using jQuery UI tabs for the tabbed menu, and the galleries to which I'm linking are jQuery Galleria pages, automatically generated with Jalbum. The problem: The galleria plug-in only works normally from inside of the containing iframe in Chrome, has inconsistent behaviour in IE8 (seems to work in my local copy, but won't load properly online), and is not loaded properly in Firefox. Instead of displaying a thumbnail area and the first large image, the Galleria page shows the first thumbnail only, then when it is clicked the image it links to, but if you right-click and go Back, the iframe content shows up as a properly rendered Galleria page. Jalbum generates more script in the < head of the page in addition to linking to jquery and the galleria plug-in. All of it seems to be in charge of the gallery navigation , and I have relocated it to the < body of the page, in an effort to make it load after the parent page scripts, and together with the gallery content. At this point I am not sure what else I could do to solve the problem, without digging around in all or some of the library and pluging .js files (which I am not knowledgeable enough to do without some pointers). Has anyone dealt with a similar issue? I'm seeing some solutions for manipulating iframe content from a parent page with jQuery on here, is that what I should be researching instead?     Hi all, I'm using the webwork framework (JIRA plugin development) and was wondering about the lifecycle of the variables in the action class. I have a few private variables in the action class that are set when during the doDefault() method. These are used in the input view to set up jqGrid columns and then when the user has entered some data they click submit which puts the grid data into a hidden input. The next thing that happens is the doValidation() method is called before the doExecute(), which displays the input view if there are any errors. The problem is that the variables set up in the doDefault() method are now null. Can anyone explain to me how the lifecycle of variables works in the webwork actions? Cheers
