  • Raspberry Pi based Hadoop cluster

    - by Dmitriy Sukharev
Is it at least possible to build Hadoop cluster from Raspberry Pi-based nodes? Can such a cluster meet hardware requirements of Hadoop? And if so, how much Raspberry Pi nodes are required to meet requirements? I understand that a cluster from several Raspberry Pi nodes being cheap is not powerful. My purpose is to organize cluster without possibility of loosing personal data from my desktop or notebook, and to use this cluster studying Hadoop. I'd appreciate if you suggest any better ideas of organizing a cheap Hadoop cluster for studying purposes. UPD: I've seen that recommended amount of memory for Hadoop is 16-24GB, multi-core processors, and 1TB of HDD, but it doesn't look like minimal requirements.

  • Visual Studio Development on Virtual Box, Boot Camp, or VMWare Fusion

    - by Eli
I currently have a Mac, 2ghz and 2 gigs of ram, running OS X Leopard and Virtual Box with a Windows 7 Pro 32bit virtual machine. Performance on the virtual machine is fine for minor tasks but is very clunky while trying to multi-task or develop in Visual Studio 2008. What would be my best option for being able to use Visual Studio, keeping cost and time in mind? 1) Upgrade ram to 4 gigs ($100). Will this really improve my performance enough to use Visual Studio in a Windows 7 vm? Or am I just wasting time/money? 2) Reinstall/restore Windows 7 disk image as a Boot Camp partition. I assume this should improve my performance, yes? 3) Purchase VMWare fusion instead of VirtualBox. Does Fusion require less resources to run? I am open to any suggestions. Thanks in advance

  • Top causes of slow ssh logins

    - by Peter Lyons
I'd love for one of you smart and helpful folks to post a list of common causes of delays during an ssh login. Specifically, there are 2 spots where I see a range from instantaneous to multi-second delays. Between issuing the ssh command and getting a login prompt and between entering the passphrase and having the shell load Now, specifically I'm looking at ssh details only here. Obviously network latency, speed of the hardware and OSes involved, complex login scripts, etc can cause delays. For context I ssh to a vast multitude of linux distributions and some Solaris hosts using mostly Ubuntu, CentOS, and MacOS X as my client systems. Almost all of the time, the ssh server configuration is unchanged from the OS's default settings. What ssh server configurations should I be interested in? Are there OS/kernel parameters that can be tuned? Login shell tricks? Etc?

  • _NSAutoreleaseNoPool Breaking but No Helpful Stack Trace

    - by Matt Long
I am getting the message: * _NSAutoreleaseNoPool(): Object 0x3f43660 of class UICFFont autoreleased with no pool in place - just leaking I have placed a break point using the symbol _NSAutoreleaseNoPool and the program does break, however, the stack trace does not show me any of my code only some UIView and Core Animation layer code. Is there a better way to get to the bottom of the issue? There is apparently a thread that does not have an auto release pool, but I can't figure out where. Thanks.

  • In Sublime Text 2, how can I indent out to a straight column with multiple cursors on a ragged edge?

    - by mtoast
Suppose I've got multiple cursors along several lines, like this: foo| barr| foobar| baz| How can I automatically push the whitespace at the end of each line out to a flat edge, like this?: foo | barr | foobar | baz | (In these examples, | is supposed to be my cursor.) EDIT #1 When you just Tab or Space from the initial arrangement, you get this: # Useful, but not what I'm looking for foo | barr | foobar | baz | That's useful, but not what I'm looking for. I'm looking for some kind of keyboard shortcut that will let me indent from a ragged multi-cursor insert out to a straight column.

  • How to move mail accounts when migrating webhosting

    - by pkswatch
I am migrating my website abc.com from one webhosting company to another in a shared hosting environment. Both have cpanel. And the second hosting account i am preparing to move is my multi-domain hosting account with 3 domains already in it. The problem is, i have many email accounts associated with my website abc.com, which are accessed using webmail. So if i move it to the other host, will i lose all those accounts and their emails? If yes, then how should i synchronise the email accounts so that all the accounts and the contained emails remain intact? I saw some several sync tools like IMAP Sync, etc. But these require two hosts while synchronizing, and as you see, i have just one domain name to be synchronized over 2 servers. PS, i do not have any ssh access on either of them, and i have made complete backup of all files using backup wizard in cpanel.

  • Spring Framework 3.0.5 MVC Issue

    - by user578923
I know that this may be absolutely dumb but for the life of me I cannot figure out why I'm getting these errors in my Spring Project, it is basically from the MVC tutorial with a few modifications. This is the error I get when running my tomcat server. `Caused by: java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: org/springframework/web/servlet/mvc/SimpleFormController at java.lang.ClassLoader.defineClass1(Native Method) at java.lang.ClassLoader.defineClass(ClassLoader.java:634) at java.security.SecureClassLoader.defineClass(SecureClassLoader.java:142) at java.net.URLClassLoader.defineClass(URLClassLoader.java:277) at java.net.URLClassLoader.access$000(URLClassLoader.java:73) at java.net.URLClassLoader$1.run(URLClassLoader.java:212) at java.security.AccessController.doPrivileged(Native Method) at java.net.URLClassLoader.findClass(URLClassLoader.java:205) at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(ClassLoader.java:321) at sun.misc.Launcher$AppClassLoader.loadClass(Launcher.java:294) at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(ClassLoader.java:266) at org.apache.catalina.loader.WebappClassLoader.loadClass(WebappClassLoader.java:1581) at org.apache.catalina.loader.WebappClassLoader.loadClass(WebappClassLoader.java:1511) at org.springframework.util.ClassUtils.forName(ClassUtils.java:257) at org.springframework.beans.factory.support.AbstractBeanDefinition.resolveBeanClass(AbstractBeanDefinition.java:408) at org.springframework.beans.factory.support.AbstractBeanFactory.doResolveBeanClass(AbstractBeanFactory.java:1271) at org.springframework.beans.factory.support.AbstractBeanFactory.resolveBeanClass(AbstractBeanFactory.java:1242) ... 54 more Caused by: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: org.springframework.web.servlet.mvc.SimpleFormController at java.net.URLClassLoader$1.run(URLClassLoader.java:217) at java.security.AccessController.doPrivileged(Native Method) at java.net.URLClassLoader.findClass(URLClassLoader.java:205) at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(ClassLoader.java:321) at sun.misc.Launcher$AppClassLoader.loadClass(Launcher.java:294) at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(ClassLoader.java:266) ... 71 more` I just cannot figure out the issue with my classpath...I would appreciate any help. • Restore Point area getting deleted

    - by PaoloFCantoni
Hi, I'm running a multi-boot scenario (which I have been successfully on a number of machines for a number of years). I have Windows 7 (32 bit) on one partition and Windows 7 (64 bit) on another and a common data partition (which happens to store the user hives for each OS instance). For some reason, on one particular machine (a HP Pavilion notebook) the restore points get trashed after a reboot. I can create them (both manually and automatically), but after some (but not all) reboots the restore points get trashed. I have all three partitions set (on both OSs) to hold restore information. This setup has worked successfully on other machines for at least 12 months. I'm out of ideas... I DO need the restore points as I do "bleeding edge" stuff and they've saved my bacon on other machines in the past... TIA, Paolo

  • how to close a child browser in c# or WatiN?

    - by user177060
I want to close the child window which is of "Browser" type. Have a look at the below code. WatiN.Core.Browser openBrowser = BrowserType.getBrowserObject().attachChildBrowser(document_name + Constants.open_document_title); I want to close the "openBrowser". Close()(available in WatiN) can only be used for the type "IE" of "Firefox" only. So, I cant use Close() method also. Is there any method to close the browser in C# or WatiN?

  • openmp sections running sequentially

    - by chi42
I have the following code: #pragma omp parallel sections private(x,y,cpsrcptr) firstprivate(srcptr) lastprivate(srcptr) { #pragma omp section { //stuff } #pragma omp section { //stuff } } According to the Zoom profiler, two threads are created, one thread executes both the sections, and the other thread simply blocks! Has anyone encountered anything like this before? (And yes, I do have a dual core machine).

  • How to interface NIOS-II with external vhdl module

    - by bobbyb
I'm looking for a bus to connect a nios-II core to an external vhdl module i have written. I can probably do it with GPIOs but this seems like a poor way of doing it and pretty much requires me to implement my own bus from scratch. Does altera provide any sort of bus like structure in SOPC I could use to do this? Thanks!

  • centos server shared files

    - by Kyle Hudson
Hi, I am wanting to implement a multi-server specialised hosting environment. I currently have a cloud solution comprising of 3 centos boxes (2 lamp web servers, 1 mysql). What I am wanting to do is, implement a 5 server solution where they is 3 web servers, 1 mysql box and a fileshare. Basically I want the fileshare to host all the web files for the servers, the caching will remain on the individual servers and the sessions will be stored in mysql. So what I am asking is how do I map the servers to share the same "docroot"? Is it NFS? if so whats the best way about doing this? Thanks in advance.

  • Enterprise Level Monitoring Solution

    - by Garthmeister J.
My company is currently looking to replace our current solution used for monitoring our web-based enterprise solutions for both up-time and performance. Please note this is not intended to be a network monitoring-type solution (internally we currently use Nagios). If anyone has a provider that they have had a positive experience with, it would be much appreciated. Here is a list of our requirements: • Must have a large number of probes/agents around the globe to be representative of our customer base • Must have a flexible scripting capability to automate multi-step user actions • 24 hour a day monitoring • Flexible alerting system • Report generation capability • Mimic browser specific monitoring (optional, not a must-have)

  • Windows Remote Desktop with multiple monitors

    - by BDW
I'm looking for a remote desktop product that will allow me to switch on the fly between how many monitors the desktop is using. This would be going from one Windows 7 machine to another, one is running Ultimate, the other Enterprise. I know I can use Windows RDP with multi-monitor support, but it seems that only allows me to use ALL monitors, and if I switch to a windowed view, I get huge scrollbars because I'm going from 3 monitors to 1 window. What I'm looking for is something that will allow me to switch from 1, 2, or 3 monitor displays without restarting the RDP and would end up with a true 1/2/3 display - ie, if I go from 3 monitors to 1, or a window, I don't get scrollbars. Is there any such product?

  • Reflector issue when decompiling a WPF assembly (i.e. PresentationCore, PresentationFramework).

Hi; I just downloaded the last version of Reflector from RedGate and I was unable to decompile classes in some core WPF assemblies like PresentationCore and PresentationFramework.
