    I installed Red-hat 5.3 problem is that it is not showing graphical interface. only kernel / command prompt is available. I tried startx, then I got this msg No video BIOS modes for chosen depth also showing that ERROR: Failed to start X server. What should I do?

    I tried installing a trial version of SAP NetWeaver 7.1 on Windows Vista on my laptop but I couldn't succeed. Then I tried installing SAP Web Application Server 6.20. The installation goes all the way to 91%, at which point I get some errors and the installation stops. Does anyone have any experience with this? I've joined (bound) Ubuntu Linux clients to the same domain with net ads join in the past with no problems (using the same administrative user). I don't have access to any server logs. This is what I think is going on: The OS X client sends a kerberos request. The KDC says, "You need to pre-authenticate. Try again" The OS X client tries to pre-authenticate (all this so far is over UDP) Something gets lost on our network and the KDC says, "Oops something went wrong" The OS X client switches to TCP and tries again. Over TCP, the KDC says, "You're using an encryption type I don't support" Note that in its padata records, the OS X client is always using "aes256-cts-hmac-sha1-96" as its encryption type. However, in its KDC_REQ_BODY record it lists the aes256-cts-hmac-sha1-96, aes128-cts-hmac-sha1-96, des3-cbc-sha1, and rc4-hmac encryption types. When the KDC comes back with KDC_ERR_ETYPE_NOSUPP, it uses rc4-hmac as its encryption type in its padata record. I know next to nothing about Kerberos, but it seems to me that the OS X client should go ahead and try the rc4-hmac encryption type. However, it does nothing after this. I have installed the IBM WebSphere Client v6.0 installed but was unable to find the "IBM fix pack 6.0.1.1" for the WebSphere CLIENT as some people have suggested. I have found this post (http://www.biztalkgurus.com/forums/p/3719/7212.aspx) which seems to shed some light on this issue, but I am unable to find the fix-pack that they speak of or resolve the problem Is anybody able to provide any further information?     Hi Guys, I am trying to setup a test vpn between my home desktop and my laptop. So far I have got the server on the desktop to connect fine but I can not get my laptop to finish the connection. I have tried several different configurations and they all give me the same result. Obviously it has nothing to do with my Client configuration but possibly something on my laptop?     Hi, today I accidently changed one option of Teminal Services, I checked "Allow connections only from computers running Remote Desktop with Network Level Authentication". After that, I can't connect to my server any more. The error says: The remote computer requires Network Level Authentication, which your computer does not support. But my client pcs(both home and at office) are running Windows 7, as far as I know, it shoud support NLA; And in About dialog of Remote Desktop Connection there says "Supports Network Level Authentication". My server is running Windows Server 2008, placed in IDC center; I could connect to it before I change the settings. All other sevices(like IIS, SQL Server) are running normally. For clients, I tried two PCs running Windows 7, and two virtual windows XP machine running in Virtual PC and Virtual Box, all of them gives the same error message. Is there a way I can make things right without go to IDC which is far away? Thanks.

    To All Experts here, I'd like to perform a MOSS server content migration from the existing single instance server (SQL Server 2008, Windows Server 2008, SharePoint 2007 SP1) all in one and by maintaining the server name only, here's what I had in my migration plan document outline: I have created the new Windows Server 2008 R2 + SQL Server 2008 SP1 and MOSS 2007 SP2 after that: Backup MOSS_ContentDB from SQL Server 2008 SSMS (does this enough to cover all top level sites and its content in the library and doc. repository ?) Backup all top level sites from CA site using the CA Sites backup and restore tools. turn off the old MOSSDEV01 (current server) rename the existing server (TempServ01) into MOSSDEV01 (so that the user bookmark and other link inside MOSS site still working) perform restore of the DB restore the site collection and its content from the backup is that the correct way to do it ? I haven't execute the server configuration wizard to create the same port number of the SSP, CA and the SQL Server DB yet. Any idea and suggestion would be greatly appreciated Thanks.

  • Exporting Client Data from Groupwise 6.5 to Outlook 2010 without Crashing

    My employer has recently moved from Novell GroupWise 6.5 to Exchange 2010. We've imposed mailbox limits on staff but we still need to move their old messages, contacts, calendars, etc. over to Outlook 2010. Our problem however is this, utilizing the Novell MAPI client is slow within Outlook 2010 and upon exporting messages to a PST file (for later re-attachment, and offline backup purposes) crashes the GroupWise server. Connecting to the server in Outlook via IMAP to export messages to PST is faster and apparently more stable but also crashes the server. We'll be keeping our GroupWise server online internally until then end of the year but I have staff with mailboxes approaching 12 gigabytes, which is fine if we're going to move the data to offline storage (DVD set) but if I keep crashing the server every time I try to get the data I'll just be spinning my wheels. In my first attempts, I tried to move mail for a staff member with 3GB of data. The transfer lasted roughly 8 hours before crashing. I'm wondering if there is an open source solution to my problem. Paid solutions exist but we're a not-for-profit organization and have too many staff to justify the costs of per seat licenses just to migrate mail.

I've looked around and can find 4000 articles about improving Hyper-V performance, but I can't find any that actually do a side-by-side comparison or give benchmarking numbers. Ideally, I'm interested in a comparison of CPU, memory, disk, and graphics performance between something like the following: Some powerful workstation (with plenty of RAM) with Windows 7 installed on it directly Same exact worksation with Hyper-V Server 2008 R2 (the bare Server role) and a full-screen Windows 7 client machine Virtual Server 2005 had performance that didn't compare at all with actual hardware, but with the advances in CPU and hardware-level virtualization, has performance improved significantly? How obvious would it be to a user of the two above scenarios that one of them was virtualized, and does anybody know of actual benchmarking of this type?

    I've got a local development web server running Ubuntu. I also have an iMac running OS X 10.6 which I use a client and is my development machine. I'm currently have Samba server installed on my Ubuntu server. I have shares setup for all the website directories. I then use my Mac and Coda to edit the files via their shares. This generally works really well but I noticed that my Mac was writing loads of resource fork ._filename files everywhere. I found out the following about the files: These files are created on volumes that don't natively support full HFS file characteristics (e.g. ufs volumes, Windows fileshares, etc). When a Mac file is copied to such a volume, its data fork is stored under the file's regular name, and the additional HFS information (resource fork, type & creator codes, etc) is stored in a second file (in AppleDouble format), with a name that starts with "._". (These files are, of course, invisible as far as OS-X is concerned, but not to other OS's; this can sometimes be annoying...) Does anyone know of a way of sharing files between a Mac client and a Linux server that is most compantable between the two operation systems? Ideally it needs to support the HFS filesystem so that the resource forks are not created and it also needs to support the permissions between server and client.

  • Mac OS X 10.8 VPN Server: Bypass VPN for LAN traffic (routing LAN traffic to secondary connection)

    I have somewhat of an odd setup for a VPN server with OS X Mountain Lion. It's essentially being used as a bridge to bypass my company's firewall to our extranet connection - certain things our team needs to do require unfettered access to the outside, and changing IT policies to allow traffic through the main firewall is just not an option. The extranet connection is provided through a Wireless-N router (let's call it Wi-Fi X). My Mac Mini server is configured with the connection to this router as the primary connection, thus unfettered access to the internet via the router. Connections to this device on the immediate subnet are possible through the LAN port, but outside the subnet things are less reliable. I was able to configure the VPN server to provide IP addresses to clients in the 192.168.11.150-192.168.11.200 range using both PPTP and L2TP, and I'm able to connect to the extranet through the VPN using the standard Mac OS X VPN client in System Preferences, however unsurprisingly, a local address (let's call it internal.company.com) returns nothing. I tried to bypass the limitation of the VPN Server by setting up Routes in the VPN settings. Our company uses 13.x.x.x for all internal traffic, instead of 10.x.x.x, so the routing table looked something like this: IP Address ---------- Subnet Mask ---------- Configuration 0.0.0.0 248.0.0.0 Private 8.0.0.0 252.0.0.0 Private 12.0.0.0 255.0.0.0 Private 13.0.0.0 255.0.0.0 Public 14.0.0.0 254.0.0.0 Private 16.0.0.0 240.0.0.0 Private 32.0.0.0 224.0.0.0 Private 64.0.0.0 192.0.0.0 Private 128.0.0.0 128.0.0.0 Private I was under the impression that if nothing was entered here, all traffic was routed through the VPN. With something entered, only traffic specifically marked to go through the VPN would go through the VPN, and all other traffic would be up to the client to access using its own default connection. This is why I had to specifically mark every subnet except 13.x.x.x as Private. My suspicion is that since I can't reach the VPN server from outside the local subnet, it's not making a connection to the main DNS server and thus can't be reached on the larger network. I'm thinking that entering hostnames like internal.company.com aren't kicked back to the client to resolve, because the server has no idea that the IP address falls in the public range, since I suspect (probably should ping test it but don't have access to it right now) that it can't reach the DNS server to find out anything about that hostname. It seems to me that all my options for resolving this all boil down to the same type of solution: Figure out how to reach the DNS with the secondary connection on the server. I'm thinking that if I'm able to do [something] to get my server to recognize that it should also check my local gateway (let's say Server IP == 13.100.100.50 and Gateway IP == 13.100.100.1). From there Gateway IP can tell me to go find DNS Server at 13.1.1.1 and give me information about my internal network. I'm very confused about this path -- really not sure if I'm even making sense. I thought about trying to do this client side, but that doesn't make sense either, since that would add time to each and every client side setup. Plus, it just seems more logical to solve it on the server - I could either get rid of my routing table altogether or keep it - I think the only difference would be that internal traffic would also go through the server - probably an unnecessary burden on it. Any help out there? Or am I in over my head? Forward proxy or transparent proxy is also an option for me, although I have no idea how to set either of those up. (I know, Google is my friend.)

  • Port forwarding to asp.net development server

    I have configured my router so that I can access my localhost from internet. But I can't manage to port forward it to asp.net development server. In router's port forwarding I did the same thing as for the localhost but only changed port number so that it is the same as the one that is assigned to my application, but this doesn't work. Any idea how to get it work? Thanks in advance, Ile

  • OpenSwan (IPSEC) on Fedora 13 with Snow Leopard as a client

    I recently installed OpenSwan on my Fedora 13 machine. I want to use it to connect with Mac OS X with L2TP over IPSEC, unfortunately I am already stuck on the IPSEC-negotation part. My server is running behind a NATted firewall so my external IP differs from the server's IP. The server has a fixed IP on the network and the same is almost always valid for the clients (they are usually behind a NATted firewall). I installed OpenSwan on Fedora 13 and have following configuration: config setup protostack=netkey nat_traversal=yes virtual_private=%v4:10.0.0.0/8,%v4:192.168.0.0/16,%v4:172.16.0.0/12 oe=off nhelpers=0 conn L2TP-PSK-NAT rightsubnet=vhost:%priv also=L2TP-PSK-noNAT conn L2TP-PSK-noNAT authby=secret pfs=no auto=add keyingtries=3 rekey=no ikelifetime=8h keylife=1h type=transport left=my.servers.external.ip leftprotoport=17/1701 right=%any rightprotoport=17/0 IPSEC starts fine and listens to UDP 500 and 4500. These two ports are opened in the firewall and are forwarded fine to the server. In my /etc/ipsec.secrets file I have my.servers.external.ip %any: "LongAndDifficultPassword" And finally in my sysctl.conf (the redirect-entries are there because OpenSwan was strongly protesting about send/accept_redirects being active) I have net.ipv4.ip_forward = 1 net.ipv4.conf.all.send_redirects = 0 net.ipv4.conf.all.accept_redirects = 0 Running "ipsec verify" gives me "all greens" (except Opportunistic Encryption Support, which is DISABLED), however, when trying to connect my Mac gives me following in the logs: Nov 1 19:30:28 macbook pppd[4904]: pppd 2.4.2 (Apple version 412.3) started by user, uid 1011 Nov 1 19:30:28 macbook pppd[4904]: L2TP connecting to server 'my.servers.ip.address' (my.servers.ip.address)...   • Access Home Network Server via External Address (DSL vs Cable)

    For the last few months, I've been using a server on my home network for basic backups and hosting some small websites. Up until this past week, I've been using Comcast (cable) as an ISP and now that I've moved into an apartment, I'm using AT&T. (DSL) I've set up dynamic DNS and I can verify it works externally. However, I can't seem to access the public address from within the local network. Is there something DSL does differently from Cable that makes this frustration possible?
