  • Ubuntu 9.10 Dowload Speed Very Slow

    I'm running Ubuntu 9.10 desktop and I'm new to the Linux world, so bear with me. I'm on a corporate network of 3 T1s shared across 50-60 users. I typically get about 300 KB/sec for downloads, but for whatever reason, the Linux box will start out in that range, then drop to less than 1KB/Sec sometimes. Doesn't seen to matter where I'm downloading from. Right now I'm trying to get Eclipse for PHP and it's running at 3-6KB/sec. Getting the updates for the system will also drop to very slow rates. Our IT person has set up the machine to get the same 10.0.0.x address when it starts, and moved this IP to bypass our Proxy/Firewall going out, so that shouldn't be the issue. Can anyone recommend something I can try to better diagnose the problem. Again, I'm new to the Linux world and the hardware/OS setup side in general (coming form more of a coding background). Thanks for any advice.

    I'm looking for a simple way to forget that I'm using a WebView to have justified text in my TextView. Has someone made a custom view for this? I'm well aware that I can do something like this: WebView view = new WebView(this); view.loadData("my html with text justification","text/html","utf-8"); But it gets ugly when you want to set the size, the color or other common properties of the TextView, there must be a more convenient way of doing it.

  • Am I using too much jQuery? When am I crossing the line?

    Lately I found myself using jQuery and JavaScript a lot, often to do the same things that I did before using CSS. For example, I alternate table rows color or create buttons and links hover effects using JavaScript/jQuery. Is this acceptable? Or should I keep using CSS for these kinds of things? So the real question is: When I'm using too much jQuery? How can I understand when I'm crossing the line?

    Hi, I have a submit button in a form and i use a css class which sets a background image as the submit button. I need to give a value to this submit button, but i dont want it to be displayed to the user. If i set the css color property to transparent it works fine in my firefox 3.6. But the value gets displayed in ie 6 and 7. How can i solve this problem?

  • Treeview nodes won't highlight using PopulateOndemand

    Hi everyone, I have a treeview and I want to highlight (change the text color) of a node in the treeview once that node has been selected. This isnt working for me for some reason. when I select a node nothing happens, but when I click the plus on the same node I just selected...it highlights...and even then when I click any of the childnodes, nothing happens and the root node stays highlighted always. Can anyone point me in the right direction...I'm using c#.

  • Making a row of divs all be the same height using CSS

    I have a row of divs that must all be the same height, but I have no way of knowing what that height might be ahead of time (the content comes from an external source). I initially tried placing the divs in an enclosing div and floated them left. I then set their height to be "100%", but this had no perceptible effect. By setting the height on the enclosing div to a fixed-height I could then get the floated divs to expand, but only up to the fixed height of the container. When the content in one of the divs exceeded the fixed height, it spilled over; the floated divs refused to expand. I Googled this floated-divs-of-the-same-height problem and apparently there's no way to do it using CSS. So now I am trying to use a combination of relative and absolute positioning instead of floats.     Hi. I've got form for some model A, which has got few fields: tile description ... colors colors are selected from multiple select and options are ['red', 'green', 'blue', 'yellow']. User can choose colors as many as he wants. I don't think that making Color model and has_many relationship is good solution here to store colors data in model A. So question is: How to store multiple data in db for such multiple select forms?

  • Focus previous window when I close one instead of one of the same application in Mac OS X?

    The situation is: I have one MacVim open for coding. Then I switch to iTerm to run git commit, which will open a new MacVim for editing the commit message per my setting. The problem is, when I finish writing the commit message and close the MacVim window, the previous iTerm window is not focused. The other MacVim window is focused instead. Is there any way I can change this behaviour? I just want the previous window get focused when I close a window.
