• I'm installing mysql with homebrew, how do I set value to 'log_output'?

  I've been following directions here: brew install mysql on mac os and have now run into the same issue both on my home machine and work (both MacBook Pro running OSX 10.7.5 and ZSH): 121031 12:18:03 [ERROR] /usr/local/opt/mysql/bin/mysqld: Error while setting value '/Users/me/.mysql/logs/' to 'log_output' The full output of the error can be found in this gist: https://gist.github.com/3988275 I'm really at a loss for what I'm doing incorrectly or what I need to change. It should be noted that there are no logs for me to check in /usr/local/var/mysql. Any help is greatly appreciated.

  Hi, I am trying to learn something about WPF and I am quite amazed by its flexibility. However, I have hit a problem with Styles and DataTemplates, which is little bit confusing. I have defined below test page to play around a bit with styles etc and found that the Styles defined in <Page.Resources> for Border and TextBlock are not applied in the DataTemplate, but Style for ProgressBar defined in exactly the same way is applied.   I'm trying to create an inventory list (tab-delimited text, for the output) from XML data. The catch is, I need to take the line that I created, and list it multiple times (iterate ???), based on a number found in the XML.   I'm trying to figure out the best way to represent some data. It basically follows the form Manufacturer.Product.Attribute = Value. Something like: Acme.*.MinimumPrice = 100 Acme.ProductA.MinimumPrice = 50 Acme.ProductB.MinimumPrice = 60 Acme.ProductC.DefaultColor = Blue So the minimum price across all Acme products is 100 except in the case of product A and B. I want to store this data in C# and have some function where GetValue("Acme.ProductC.MinimumPrice") returns 100 but GetValue("Acme.ProductA.MinimumPrice") return 50. I'm not sure how to best represent the data. Is there a clean way to code this in C#?

  How do I write the following in MYSQL? SELECT SUBSTRING(value - (1 TRAILING CHARACTER)) FROM table; Basically substring(value, 2) trims the first letters. But I need to trim the last letters. I can't use substring(value, -4, 3) because I don't know the length of the value. • JavaFX 2.0 - How to change legend color of a LineChart dynamically?

  I am trying to style my JavaFX linechart but I have some trouble with the legend. I know how to change the legend color of a line chart in the css file: .default-color0.chart-series-line { -fx-stroke: #FF0000, white; } .default-color1.chart-series-line { -fx-stroke: #00FF00, white; } .default-color2.chart-series-line { -fx-stroke: #0000FF, white; } .default-color0.chart-line-symbol { -fx-background-color: #FF0000, white; } .default-color1.chart-line-symbol { -fx-background-color: #00FF00, white; } .default-color2.chart-line-symbol { -fx-background-color: #0000FF, white; } But this is not enough for my purposes. I have three or more colored toggle buttons and a series of data for every button. The data should be displayed in the same color the button has after I have selected the button. This should be possible with a multiselection of the buttons, so that more than one series of data can be displayed simultaneously. For the chart lines I have managed it by changing the style after I clicked the button: .. dataList.add(series); .. series.getNode().setStyle("-fx-stroke: rgba(" + rgba + ")"); If I deselect the button I remove the data from the list. dataList.remove(series); That is working fine for the strokes, but how can I do the same for the legend? You can see an example below. First I clicked the red button, thus the stroke and the legend is red (default-color0). After that I clicked the blue button. Here you can see the problem. The stroke is blue but the legend is green, because default color1 is used and I do not know how to change the legend color.

• Can default Symfony form-save actions be used to post data via AJAX?

  I was playing around with Symfony, jQuery, jqGrid & AJAX. For each new post submission, I am doing the foll: adding a routing entry in routing.yml defining a new action in the Actions file for the module. THis reads params, assigns values & saves the object As in the case of jqGrid, the 'Add Row' form is not a Symfony form. Is there a way to fool Symfony and post data to the executeCreate action to store a new entry. If not, does Symfony provide a way to quickly generate web services for AJAX requests for each of the modules? Is this a sensible feature? What I am going to have to do other-wise, is to create routing create a new Action get all parameters instantiate object assign values & save Any help in doing this faster will be appreciated. • Is there a way to efficiently update one value in dojo chart2d?

  I am looking for a way to update one and only one value in a dojox chart2d. There is a way to update an entire series, which involves mychart.updateSeries("myseriesname",array_of_data) mychart.render() but This is too slow for my application. What I want to do is be able to drag the mouse over a vertical bar chart and have the values change as I am doing it. Only one or two values will need to change, so there is no need to reload all of the plots, just the two or three values that are changing. Is there a method that will quickly update only one or two values without lag? Thanks, Nick O I may just end up writing my own css version :S

  I'm wondering how you'd recommend designin a class, given the fact that XNA Framework uses Struct all over the place? For example, a spite class, which may require a Vector2 and a Rectangle (both defined as Struct) to be accessed outside of the class. The issue come in when you try to write code like this: class Item { public Vetor2 Position {get; set;} public Item() { Position = new Vector2(5,5); } } Item i = new Item(); i.Positon.X = 20; // fails with error 'Cannot modify the return value of Item because it is not a variable.' // you must write code like this var pos = i.Position; pos.X++; i.Position = pos; The second option compiles and works, but it is just butt ugly. • Can I bind multiple forms to a single model using the default model binder?

  I have a complex page with several forms on it. The page is divided into sections, and each section has a continue button on it. The page is bound to a pageViewModel, each section addresses a different set of properties on the model. The continue button makes an ajax call to the controller, and the model binder binds it appropriately to the appropriate sections of the model. The section is refreshed appropriately. Finally, I would like to have a save button at the bottom of the page that takes all the forms, and binds all of the forms to the model. The model, at this point has all of the properties filled out, and can be processed accordingly. Can I accomplish this by some ASP MVC magic?

  I need to find a way to determine if the Visible property of a control is set via a property change or if is inheriting it value from its parent. Using the Reflector, I find that the functions this.GetVisibleCore() and this.GetState() are both internal methods so I cannot call them. The widgets themselves are created dynamically so I do not want to attach a method to the VisibleChanged event just after the creation of each widget so can try to monitor this property. If I have to, I guess I will but I am looking for something jsut a bit more elegant.

  Hi, If a disabled drop-down list is dynamically rendered to the page, it is still possible to use Firebug, or another tool, to tamper with the submitted value, and to remove the "disabled" HTML attribute. This code: protected override void OnLoad(EventArgs e) { var ddlTest = new DropDownList() {ID="ddlTest", Enabled = false}; ddlTest.Items.AddRange(new [] { new ListItem("Please select", ""), new ListItem("test 1", "1"), new ListItem("test 2", "2") }); Controls.Add(ddlTest); } results in this HTML being rendered: <select disabled="disabled" id="Properties_ddlTest" name="Properties$ddlTest"> <option value="" selected="selected">Please select</option> <option value="1">test 1</option> <option value="2">test 2</option> </select> The problem occurs when I use Firebug to remove the "disabled" attribute, and to change the selected option. On submission of the form, and re-creation of the field, the newly generated control has the correct value by the end of OnLoad, but by OnPreRender, it has assumed the identity of the submitted control and has been given the submitted form value. .NET seems to have no way of detecting the fact that the field was originally created in a disabled state and that the submitted value was faked. This is understandable, as there could be legitimate, client-side functionality that would allow the disabled attribute to be removed. Is there some way, other than a brute force approach, of detecting that this field's value should not have been changed? I see the brute force approach as being something crap, like saving the correct value somewhere while still in OnLoad, and restoring the value in the OnPreRender. As some fields have dependencies on others, that would be unacceptable to me.

The problem is i need in these event to animate a node that is part of the widget but not what its connected to.   Hi. I got a list of customers I thought I would list in a gridview or a repeater with customer html, it gone have paging. I'm gone have a checkbox for each customer in the list. Do you guys have any suggestions on how I should do to keep the checkbox value when I go to page 2-3-4 ect in the paging. I'm thinking a session to store the id of the checked customers. After I'm done setting the values they go to the database. Do you got any other ideas then the session I'm thinking of? thanks guys

  I've got the above odd error message that I don't understand "value Parsers is not a member of package scala.util.parsing.combinator". I'm trying to learn Parser combinators by writing a C parser step by step. I started at token, so I have the classes: import util.parsing.combinator.JavaTokenParsers object CeeParser extends JavaTokenParsers { def token: Parser[CeeExpr] = ident } abstract class CeeExpr case class Token(name: String) extends CeeExpr This is as simple as I could make it. • Writing a custom auth system (like the default django auth system), use it to generate tables in DB

  Hay all, I've been reading up on middleware and how to use it with a context object. I want to write a simple middleware class which i can use on my own applications, it will essentially be a cut down version of the django one. The problem i seem to have is that if i have INSTALLED_APPS = ('django.contrib.my_auth') in the settings file, all is well. I've also added MIDDLEWARE_CLASSES = ('django.contrib.my_auth.middleware.MyAuthMiddleware') in it and everything is fine. My question is, how would i make my middleware automatically generate tables from a models.py module, much like how the django auth does when i run manage.py syncdb? thanks

  I am writing an app and am having problems returning a simple string value, and I'm not sure why. The function I am using (within a file called APIManager.m) is: - (NSString*) returnVenueUrl { NSString *venueUrl = [devEnvironment stringByAppendingString:@"venue/id/"]; return venueUrl; } I can return this properly by doing this in another .m file: APIManager *apiManager = [APIManager apiManager]; NSLog(@"view venue URL is here: %@", [apiManager returnVenueUrl]); But when I go to append a variable cast as a String onto it, I get nothing.. venueURL = [apiManager returnVenueUrl]; venueURL = [venueURL stringByAppendingString:venueId]; NSLog(@"the Full Venue URL is: %", venueURL); If anyone has any advice on how to fix this, it would be much appreciated!

I have a macros file that is being imported {% import 'form-elements.html.twig' as forms %} Now in that file there are all the form element macros: text, textarea, select, radio etc. I have an array variable that gets passed in that has an elements in it: $elements = array( array( 'type'=>'text, 'value'=>'some value', 'atts'=>null, ), array( 'type'=>'text, 'value'=>'some other value', 'atts'=>null, ), ); {{ elements }} what im trying to do is generate those elements from the macros. they work just fine when called by name: {{ forms.text(element.0.name,element.0.value,element.0.atts) }} However what i want to do is something like this: {% for element in elements %} {{ forms[element.type](element.name,element.value,element.atts) }} {% endfor %} I have tried the following all resulting in the same error: {{ forms["'"..element.type.."'"](element.name,element.value,element.atts) }} {{ forms.(element.type)(element.name,element.value,element.atts) }} {{ forms.{element.type}(element.name,element.value,element.atts) }} This unfortunately throws the following error: Fatal error: Uncaught exception 'LogicException' with message 'Attribute "value" does not exist for Node "Twig_Node_Expression_GetAttr".' in Twig\Environment.php on line 541 Any help or advice on a solution or a better schema to use would be very helpful.
