  • Best approach for coding ?

    - by ahmed
What should or how should I decide the best approach for coding as a smart programmer. I have just started programming last year in VB, and I keep on listening this statement. But I never could find by myself to choose the best approach for coding. When I search for a coding example on internet I find different types of approach to achieve the same target. So help me finding the best approach. (asp.net,vb.net)

  • REST for ASP.NET MVC included in MVC 2?

    - by Mike Hodnick
Are the REST for ASP.NET MVC bits automatically included with MVC 2, or do you need to download/install/use the REST for ASP.NET MVC bits separately? Specifically, I'm referring to the REST for ASP.NET MVC download here: http://aspnet.codeplex.com/releases/view/24471#DownloadId=79561 I want to use REST for ASP.NET MVC for the automatic json/xml serialization based on the incoming request's accepted content type. I'm not really finding any info about MVC2's ability to do this out of the "box".

Hi guys, I am creating a little flash game for the facebook platform, but I am finding it very difficult to get any decent documentation on the graph api and the PHP SDK, so if anyone has a decent resource for a beginner to go and learn the basics, I would appreciate it very much, as I am struggling to grasp the concept. Thanx!

  • How do I configure an extreme feedback device to notify CI build status?

    - by Gishu
Trying to save the next guy/gal some trouble in finding out what is needed to setup lava lamps or traffic lights or what have you (the term I believe is eXtreme Feedback Devices) as a BIG VISIBLE INDICATOR of your continuous integration build status. Ensure your post includes... (and please don't mess this question up with imaginative responses.. although it may be insanely funny at the point of conception) the XFD what 'helper' hardware is needed software that you managed to hook it up with detailed instructions on how to set it up

  • Sql Server Select Command and too much data sent to winforms application

    - by ThanosPapathanasiou
When you have an application and send a select command, the sql server gathers all the data and sends them back to your application and fills your datagrid (for example) If you performed the same select command in sql management studio, immediately as the query starts running and finding data the results panel would start filling with the data found. How can I do that for my winforms application? Is there a technique or a standard method of doing something like this? Links to good examples would be an immense help. thanks

  • Drupal Module Themes - Default CSS?

    - by derekerdmann
There's tons of documentation out there on how to override the appearance of Drupal modules, but I keep finding the docs for writing the original theme to be a little lacking. On this note, how can I tell Drupal to use a specific CSS file for my custom module's block output?

  • Labeled fixtures for associations in Rails 3 broken

    - by elsurudo
After upgrading to Rails 3, fixtures that refer to other labelled fixtures (for relationships) stop working. Instead of finding the actual fixture with that name, the fixture label is interpreted as a string. Example: # Dog.yml sparky: name: Sparky owner: john # Person.yml john: name: John Where Dog "belongs to" person. The error message is: SQLite3::SQLException: table dogs has no column named 'owner'

  • natural language processing internships

    - by user552127
Hi All, Pls someone guide me in finding paid Grad internships in Natural Language Processing over the summer. I am really interested in NLP/ML and have taken up the excellent course offered at my school in Fall. I would be glad to work for passionate startups that do actual NLP tasks such as semantic extraction (and not just information retrieval) etc. I have worked with Java and teaching myself Python in all NLP tasks. Thanks, Sanjay

  • Older iPhone/ iPod frame rate?

    - by Adam
Do older iPods and iPhones have a frame rate of 60fps? I'm finding that all the methods for calculating time intervals on iPhone (cftimeinterval, nstimer, timesince1970, etc) are all giving me bad data, so I've decided assume a frame rate of 60, just not sure if older apple devices can run at this.

  • Spam in the VS2010 Extension Manager

    - by Alex DeLarge
What's with all the spam (free trials and so on from Component Source & Telerik among others) in the VS 2010 Extensions Manager. Without going to the website there is no way to know whether a listing is free or trialware so, for me, the entire user experience of the Extensions Manager is ruined. Anyone else finding this? Is there a way of suppressing these? Alex...

  • Is there a Java library with 3D spline functions?

    - by Liam
In particular, I need a way to represent a curve/spline that passes through a set of known 3D points, and a way of finding other points on the curve/spline, by subdivision/interpolation. For example, if I have a set of points P0 to PN, I want to find 100 points between P0 and P1 that are on a spline that passes through P0 and P1. I see that Java3D's KBRotPosScaleSplinePathInterpolator performs such a calculation, but it is tied to that API's scenegraph model and I do not see how to return the values I need.

  • Useful Java Annotations

    - by Jon
I'm interested in finding out exactly which Java annotations people think are most useful during development. This doesn't necessarily have to limited to the core Java API, you may include annotations you found in third party libraries or annotations you've developed yourself (make sure you include a link to the source). I'm really interested in common development tasks rather than knowing why the @ManyToOne(optional=false) in JPA is awesome... Include the annotation and a description of why it's useful for general development.

  • How to approach performance issues?

    - by jess
Hi, We are developing a client-server desktop application(winforms with sql server 2008, using LINQ-SQL).We are now finding many issues related to performance. These relate to querying too much data with LINQ , bad database design, not much caching etc. What do you suggest,we should do - how to go about solving these performance issues? One thing,I am doing is doing sql profiling, and trying to fix some queries. As far caching is concerned,we have static lists. But,how to keep them updated,we don't have any server side implementation. So,these lists can be stale,if someone changes data. regards

  • BS in CS. Are specializations worth it?

    - by CheesePls
I'm currently pursuing my BS in Computer Science and my school offers specializations based upon taking certain advanced electives. I was thinking about getting two of them since they are sort of on the way to my degree anyway. They are Software Engineering and Programming Languages and Compilers . Would these specializations actually be useful in finding a job? Would employers even care about them?
