What is the maximum power consumption of a graphics adapter with an ATI Radeon X850 Pro GPU?
Proofs via sources (downloadable manuals) would be appreciated.
I don't want to tunnel TCP over ICMP (as ptunnel does), I want to go the other way around.
I'm in the situation where I have TCP (HTTP) connectivity to a machine but an internal firewall over which I have no control is swallowing pings. The monitoring software I'm using appears to determine connectivity by attempting to send a ping before it tries to just connect to the web service on the target machine. It's failing this ping test and giving up.
I believe if I could fool my monitoring software into thinking pings were getting through, it would then connect to the web service and be on its merry way. Anyone know how I can do this?
I have SSH and root access on the destination machine.
I did something weird and now my text size is like 3pt on every system window, but when I go in and change my window fonts to larger to something that looks normal, it makes my clock, bash, and other fonts absolutely gigantic. Is there any way I can just roll back my system and it's settings? It wouldn't be much bother as I installed the OS yesterday. I'd hate to have to reinstall entirely though, but I guess it's an option.
I have an HP convertible tablet computer which I just upgraded to Windows 8.
The problem (which existed under Windows 7 as well) is that this tablet has both a capacitive touch screen (with multi-touch) AND a wacom-type tablet built in to the screen that works using electro-magnetic resonance with the provided stylus.
My Use Case: Most of the time I am happy using my fingers and the touch interface for navigation and whatnot. However, when I want to get down to serious note-taking/drawing, I want to use the wacom functionality. The problem is that any comfortable writing position has me resting my arm/hand on the screen, which activates the touch technology (despite supposed palm-detection algorithms) and completely screws up my input paradigm.
My Ideal Solution: Ideallly, since wacom technology senses when the pen is "close" to the screen, I would love to have touch be automatically disabled whenever the wacom pen is detected, and turned back on when it is out of range. this would allow me to seamless switch between the two input methods, and since I NEVER want to use both at once would work perfectly for me.
An acceptable alternative: As a next best option, It would be great to be able to turn off the touch functionality (leaving the wacom in place) whenever I entered specific apps (e.g. OneNote, Photoshop, Gimp, Pencil, etc.) and then have it turn back on when I left that app....
As a worst case at least lets me use my PC option: If I could create a shortcut (tile or otherwise) that flips the touch on and off without going all the way through the nested computer settings, that would be better than nothing.
Thanks in advance for the help with 1 or more of the above.
Hi all,
when I try to copy any file with scp on Mac OS X Snow Leopard from another machine I get this error:
scp [email protected]:/home/me/file.zip .
Password:
...
---> Couldn't open /dev/null: Permission denied
this is the output of "ls -l /dev/null":
crw-rw-rw- 1 root wheel 3, 2 May 14 14:10 /dev/null
I am in the group wheel, and even if I do "sudo scp..." it doesn't work. It's driving me crazy, do you have any suggestion?
Thanx!
I've noticed lately that places to learn about both power supply cables and also peripherals and fans aren't that easy to find.
There's very little information available that gives detailed explanations of what cables are used inside a computer. What I found was very dated and often lacked detailed explanations.
For someone planning out their first build it would be great way for this to be explained all in one place, like here!
Important things to know about cables and connections in a computer?
What are their names?
Where do they connect to and why?
What typical Voltages do they output?
Changing Voltages for Overclocking?
Please refernce PSU cables(Full modular, Modular and Non-Modular,24-pin, 20+4-pin etc), SATA(I, II, III), Molex etc.
EDIT:
Forgot to mention any information about PSU rails would also be appreciated :)
When I send an invite it goew out OK, however, I don't get an acceptances acknowledgement back. Both I and the person who got the invite are on exchange.
When the person who got the invite sends an email responce there is a .ics mini-attachment. When I click on the .ics attachment it doesn't put anything in the calander, it just points to the contact for the person I sent the inviter to.
Sorry for a silly question I am still newbie to Ganglia.
In Ganglia I control few important metrics for mysql (seconds behind master and etc.). In addition I have few bunches of mysql servers (every bunch has it's own tasks, but all of the bunches should be tested for seconds behind master). I am interested if this possible to show all metrics on the one page with different colors to different bunches. Right now in metric "seconds behind master" I see all mysql servers with metric "seconds behind master" with colors to different states (red is critical, gray is ok). Can I set a color to a graph according to it's bunch?
Thanks!
Is it possible to mount remote file system (on Windows 2003 server) as local disk in Windows 7?
I have Windows 2003 server with software RAID and some shares. On another computer with Windows 7 I have software which can access only data form local or USB disks.
This solution doesn't work because program doesn't see files in folder:
Mount Remote CIFS/SMB Share as a Folder not a Drive Letter
Everything is the same LAN.
How can I instruct Tomcat to hold log files for each virtual host and app separately, similar to:
${tomcat.home}/logs/vhost-app-date.log
This is under the assumption that I configure all virtual hosts to log to the console, and they are unaware of the virtual host and application name they're running under.
Scenario I'd like to use:
I want to have two fields in a Word document. I would like to enter a date in the first one. Then I want the second one to display a value based on the date I entered in the first field.
Is there support for this kind of scenario in Office Word 2007?
I looks on the web but couldn't find any useful info. I did find info about formula support but not for this kind of scenario.
I’m trying to find a device that would allow a windows 7 client to wirelessly connect and display their screen to a projector while still connected to the wireless network. The idea is to allow a professor to still project and display content while walking around the room with their tablet. To date, haven’t been able to find a solution that meets the requirements, has anyone stumbled across one yet?
Requirements
Must support Windows 7
Must be able to connect to WPA2 Personal(and hopefully enterprise)
Must not use any usb dongles – those get lost/damaged given a chance.
Goal
Wirelessly display screen to projector without cables from tablet/laptop.
I'm currently trying to use the del or the erase command in a RSM Telnet to delete Temp files on users computers. But the problem I'm running into with the command is that it is working, but won't delete any of the files located in the temp folder.
Command I'm using : erase c:\users\[username]\appdata\local\temp
I have used the command with the /p to prompt me, but some of these temp folders have thousands of files in them and sitting there and pressing Y and then enter endlessly is not going to work, because I have around 90 computers to clean temp files on. Is there something wrong with the command or is there a simpler command to use to delete the temp files on the computer?
Thanks
So my MacBook Air keeps dropping Wi-Fi for some reason. It happens ONLY on my home network, and ONLY to my computer. I'm using a Linksys WRT54G router. I'm the only Mac on the network. Every other Wi-Fi network is perfectly fine, and every other computer on this network is fine. Many things can happen. It could say it's connected, but not be able to access the internet (whether it tells me that there's no internet access or not). It may just drop Wi-Fi altogether, and refuse to connect.
Generally, if I unplug the router and plug it back in, it's all good. It also works if I restart my computer. This happens multiple times a day. Yesterday I did everything I know to get it to connect (restart router many times, restart my MacBook), and nothing worked. Eventually it just magically worked.
How can I stop this from happening? We got a notice from Comcast a while ago saying that a bot called DNS Changer was detected on one or more machines on the network. I'm assuming that this can't be me, right?
I recently tried opening one of my Python projects with CMD to see what would happen. The result did nothing amazing, but Windows 7 thought I wanted to open .py files in CMD all the time. I have tried everything, setting it back to python.exe does not work, I even went to Control Panel to see if it could help, but Control Panel couldn't help either. So if someone could help me please that would be great. Thank you.
I've got 2 Netgear N300 (WNR2000v3) routers.
Here's my setup:
Modem Router 1 Private Users/Router 2 Public Wireless Users on "Guest" Network.
I want to prevent users who are connected to Router 2's "Guest" network from accessing anything that is connected to Router 1. There is an option when setting up the "Guest" network called "Allow guest to access My Local Network" which I thought if unchecked would do this very thing; however, I can still access files and such of computers connected to Router 1.
Router 1 assigns 192.0.0.x IP addresses, Router 2 assigns 10.0.0.x IP addresses, how can they even see each other? Do I need to change the subnet or something else?
This has happened before on my Vista Premium installation, and now it's happening on my Windows 7 Home Premium installation. Basically everytime I install Visual Studio Express 2010, it works fine for a random amount of time but then suddenly starts to hide from my sight -- that's the best way I can explain it. VS does not crash, and from what I can tell it does not freeze either; It continues to work, I can even "minimize" and "maximize" it; I simply cannot see it nor can I interact with it any meaningful way. Also:
After the "crash" there are no logs in: Root\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 10.0\Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Express - ENU. Nor any other files created at the time of the crash.
There are no traces in the event viewer.
The program seems to be functioning perfectly in the process manager.
If I reinstall Visual C++, it works normally for a seemingly random period of time before going cookoo again.
I am stumped. This has never happened to me before, with any other program. And yet I doubt it really is a problem with Visual C++; More like something general that seems to have picked on it for some reason. Still, after a clean install with a new OS, I'm kinda thinking there's something wrong here.
Any help would be appreciated, altough I suspect that the answer to this question will make me feel embarassed.
P.S. Not sure if it helps, but I think around the same time I started having problems (On both installations) with windows turning off the display when I leave the computer, and then seemingly crashing when it turns it on again -- in fact when I interact with it it seems to be responding to my commands without actually display anything.
Hi this is a repeat of the question: Excel: Find Items in one column that are not in another column
I have two columns in excel, and I want to find (preferably highlight) the items that are in column B, but not in column A.
What's the quickest way to do this?
However, the answer given below to in the above-menitoned thread no longer applies to Mac Excel 2011. E.g. there is no "name-a-range" option available on right click etc.. Therefore I am asking this again.
Select the list in column A
Right-Click and select Name a Range...
Enter "ColumnToSearch"
Click cell C1
Enter this formula: =MATCH(B1,ColumnToSearch,0)
Drag the formula down for all items in B
If the formula fails to find a match, it will be marked #N/A, otherwise it will be a number.
If you'd like it to be TRUE for match and FALSE for no match, use this formula instead:
=IF(ISNA(MATCH(B1,ColumnToSearch,0)),FALSE,TRUE)
How should this answer be restated to apply to Mac Excel 2011?
A few months ago I enabled password protection on my MongoDB install. Today I ran the Mongo client and forgot to use my login details. Instead of rejecting nearly everything I try to do from the shell, like it should, I had complete access to all the databases and collections. Fortunately this instance is only running a few test apps, so I quickly shutdown the MongoD instance until I figure this out.
Has anybody ever seen this kind of behavior before and knows what is going on? The MongoD instance is running on a Linux VM hosted by Azure. The only thing I can think of is that perhaps Azure restored an old copy of the VM, but I received no E-mails to that effect and everything else on the server seems to be proper, including new daemon processes that I added after I enabled password protection on MongoD.
Recently I started using great tool for load balancing - Haproxy.
There is only one disturbing thing that I cannot figure out how to deal with it.
We use haproxy for load balancing mysql traffic. When there is a lot of traffic and many connection it takes ages for haproxy to reload (~ 30 min), with less traffic it doest reload within 1 min.
I do reload with:
service haproxy reload
Of course if I need to do an urgent change in configuration I expect haproxy to do reload very fast. Killing haproxy instances waiting for disconnection causes to disconnection of msyql connections.
It looks like that I made mistake in settings of haproxy or in settings of application. If you know how to solve this please help me.
Thanks!
I have an HP Z210 with Windows 7, which is UEFI based. I'd like to dual boot it to Ubuntu 11.10 with GRUB2, but am having problems due to the UEFI. The install CD goes to the end, but then the machine always boots right into Windows.
These problems are apparently documented (here and here), but there's no consensus as to what the simplest solution is. Any recommendations? I want Ubuntu and Windows to both be bootable. (Perhaps if I knew more about UEFI and its system partition, and how it differs from BIOS and MBR, I'd be in a better position. So background answers explaining how UEFI loads up are very appreciated.)
Where could I get best step by step instructions (with some simple explanations) how to setup domain controller on Windows Server 2008 R2 Server Core?
I don't know what do I need? Do I need DNS as well and AD and so on and so forth. I don't know enough about these things, but I need to set them up to prepare development environment. I would also like to know how to configure firewall on DC machine, to make it visible on other machines because I've setup DC somehow but I can't connect to it...
This is my HW config:
Linksys internet router with DHCP
my dev machine is Windows 7
my DC machine is a VM in my dev machine
my dev machine has a network adapter to linksys and a virtual adapter to DC
DC machine has two network adapters: one to linksys (to be inetrnet connected) and one to host (my dev Win7 machine)
