• IIS 6 405 error when POSTing through I-Frame

  Before I begin, I must add that I am more of a programmer, so please be patient :p I have a 2003 server running IIS 6. I am trying to create a Facebook application that accesses a url on my server through an I-Frame. However, Facebook is trying to send some data via POST to my page. I assumed it wouldn't be a problem since the page is .html, but I keep receiving 405 errors (Incorrect Verbs) when trying to access it. Since these are generated by IIS, I had hoped there would be a way for me to allow html files to accept POST. However, after a lot of Googling, it seems like that isn't possible, so instead I figure I can convert the page to an aspx one, and that should work... however I am running in to the same issue. I thought that simply adding POST to the .aspx entry in Application Extension Mapping would work, but it still doesn't. Does anyone know what the problem could potentially be?

• All tweak settings not saving after last 2 updates?

  I am running Ubuntu GNOME 14.04. After the last 2 updates, all settings in the Tweak menu are no saving. It will also not switch to the Gnome Dark theme at all. This includes all Startup Application changes as well as any changes to Extension settings. I'm not sure if I need to include any sort of log records or anything like that, so if you need any more information please ask. I've noticed the default fonts seem to be different. I don't remember that being part of the theme settings. It's almost like I'm running in Safe Mode.

• No databases showing in phpMyAdmin

  My website is hosted in shared hosting service and is working fine with updated news stored in MySQL database. To manage the database of website, I install phpMyAdmin in a sub-folder with the same username and password used in website. When I login to phpMyAdmin, I don't see my database. phpMyAdmin is showing "No databases" in left pane. Is there any thing I need to configure in phpMyAdmin? • Is a program linked against an LGPL library in linux still under GPL?

  If I were to write say, an embeded linux video server, how much of the code do I have to offer to someone who requests the source? Do I have to offer the code that directly links against the GPL covered code or do I have to offer all code? For instance, if I use gstreamer, or any other LGPL code, on a linux platform in my program, does all of my code become under GPL simply because somewhere in the chain, the LGPL program had to link agaist GPL code? I guess this is an extension of the question. Can you write a C library that compiles in linux that does not become subject to GPL?

• Stumbling Through: Visual Studio 2010 (Part II)

  I would now like to expand a little on what I stumbled through in part I of my Visual Studio 2010 post and touch on a few other features of VS 2010.  Specifically, I want to generate some code based off of an Entity Framework model and tie it up to an actual data source.  Im not going to take the easy way and tie to a SQL Server data source, though, I will tie it to an XML data file instead.  Why?  Well, why not?  This is purely for learning, there are probably much better ways to get strongly-typed classes around XML but it will force us to go down a path less travelled and maybe learn a few things along the way.  Once we get this XML data and the means to interact with it, I will revisit data binding to this data in a WPF form and see if I cant get reading, adding, deleting, and updating working smoothly with minimal code.  To begin, I will use what was learned in the first part of this blog topic and draw out a data model for the MFL (My Football League) - I dont want the NFL to come down and sue me for using their name in this totally football-related article.  The data model looks as follows, with Teams having Players, and Players having a position and statistics for each season they played: Note that when making the associations between these entities, I was given the option to create the foreign key but I only chose to select this option for the association between Player and Position.  The reason for this is that I am picturing the XML that will contain this data to look somewhat like this: <MFL> <Position/> <Position/> <Position/> <Team>     <Player>         <Statistic/>     </Player> </Team> </MFL> Statistic will be under its associated Player node, and Player will be under its associated Team node no need to have an Id to reference it if we know it will always fall under its parent.  Position, however, is more of a lookup value that will not have any hierarchical relationship to the player.  In fact, the Position data itself may be in a completely different xml file (something Id like to play around with), so in any case, a player will need to reference the position by its Id. So now that we have a simple data model laid out, I would like to generate two things based on it:  A class for each entity with properties corresponding to each entity property An IO class with methods to get data for each entity, either all instances, by Id or by parent. Now my experience with code generation in the past has consisted of writing up little apps that use the code dom directly to regenerate code on demand (or using tools like CodeSmith).  Surely, there has got to be a more fun way to do this given that we are using the Entity Framework which already has built-in code generation for SQL Server support.  Lets start with that built-in stuff to give us a base to work off of.  Right click anywhere in the canvas of our model and select Add Code Generation Item: So just adding that code item seemed to do quite a bit towards what I was intending: It apparently generated a class for each entity, but also a whole ton more.  I mean a TON more.  Way too much complicated code was generated now that code is likely to be a black box anyway so it shouldnt matter, but we need to understand how to make this work the way we want it to work, so lets get ready to do some stumbling through that text template (tt) file. When I open the .tt file that was generated, right off the bat I realize there is going to be trouble there is no color coding, no intellisense no nothing!  That is going to make stumbling through more like groping blindly in the dark while handcuffed and hopping on one foot, which was one of the alternate titles I was considering for this blog.  Thankfully, the community comes to my rescue and I wont have to cast my mind back to the glory days of coding in VI (look it up, kids).  Using the Extension Manager (Available under the Tools menu), I did a quick search for tt editor in the Online Gallery and quickly found the Tangible T4 Editor: Downloading and installing this was a breeze, and after doing so I got some color coding and intellisense while editing the tt files.  If you will be doing any customizing of tt files, I highly recommend installing this extension.  Next, well see if that is enough help for us to tweak that tt file to do the kind of code generation that we wantDid you know that DotNetSlackers also publishes .net articles written by top known .net Authors? • REST - Tradeoffs between content negotiation via Accept header versus extensions

  I'm working through designing a RESTful API. We know we want to return JSON and XML for any given resource. I had been thinking we would do something like this: GET /api/something?param1=value1 Accept: application/xml (or application/json) However, someone tossed out using extensions for this, like so: GET /api/something.xml?parm1=value1 (or /api/something.json?param1=value1) What are the tradeoffs with these approaches? Is it best to rely on the accept header when an extension isn't specified, but honor extensions when specified? Is there a drawback to that approach?

• How will Deja-Dup operates when backing up to an external USB drive?

  I want to set up regular backups, and deja-dup seems like a nice tool. However, I want to put my backups on an extension USB drive that I have, not on a remote network location. Naturally, this drive is not always connected. If I configure deja-dup to backup to a directory on this drive (e.g. /media/extention/backup), what would happen? Will it prompt me to connect the drive when it is missing (the desired behavior), or just fail silently? Is there some way to tweak it to do so? I can roll my own cron-based backup script that checks if this drive is mounted, but I would really prefer to use an existing, integrated tool.

  So for a project for school I had to install the DPJ extension to the Java language. I downloaded and unpacked a tarball containing the files, and then was told to run the following: setenv DPJ_ROOT ${Home}/dpjbin setenv PATH ${PATH}:${DPJ_ROOT}/Implementation/bin How do I do these commands using bash? I know I have to open up the /etc/profile file and add 2 lines (or for the PATH one do I just append something to the top line of the file after a colon?). Any help in how to do this would be appreciated. If it helps I run Ubuntu 14.04 on Virtualbox (and have little to no experience)

• phpBB3 antispam: mod for "patrolling" the forum?

  I've been working on various antispam measure in a phpBB3-based forum I host. Now I was thinking of an extension/mod that ties in with editing of posts (and later perhaps signatures/profiles) in that new text or edited text defaults to something like "not patrolled" and moderators could then in a special queue review text that contains links or similar item (based on heuristics). Now the question: does such a mod exist (I didn't find one)? If it does exist and anyone has used it (or them), please include your experiences with it in the answer.

I was trying to register a domain with .sh extension but santo.sh would cost me very high and I can't afford ~$100 for just a personal domain and that's only for one year only. Now I am thinking that I should register a sntsh.com. But there is a problem, will sntsh.com over my name Santosh don't create a SEO problem? One more thing, that totally different from above topic. If I register a santosh.name domain which is not registered, won't it create copyright and any legal problems with other santosh domains?

• Grub failure after cat removed USB drive

  I had a perfectly working Ubuntu Server system with U12.4 and Server installed and was setting up the mail system. When I was absent from my computer room my cat (furry type) apparently got to play with a USB dongle on an extension cable and removed it. The system went berserk and now will not boot. I ran Ubuntu 12.4 on the install disk and the directory structure and every thing appears to still be on the drives. How do I recover the GRUB boot section without the system repartitioning everything and wiping everything else? Please I am a total newb when it comes to Linux errors and fixing them.

  Since it's the holiday season now and everybody's making wishes, I wonder - which language features you would wish PHP would have added? I am interested in some practical suggestions/wishes for the language. By practical I mean: Something that can be practically done (not: "I wish PHP would guess what my code means and fix bugs for me" or "I wish any code would execute under 5ms") Something that doesn't require changing PHP into another language (not: "I wish they'd drop $ signs and use space instead of braces" or "I wish PHP were compiled, statically typed and had # in it's name") Something that would not require breaking all the existing code (not: "Let's rename 500 functions and change parameter order for them") Something that does change the language or some interesting aspect of it (not: "I wish there was extension to support for XYZ protocol" or "I wish bug #12345 were finally fixed") Something that is more than a rant (not: "I wish PHP wouldn't suck so badly") Anybody has any good wishes? • Track url from Amazon S3 using Google Analytics

  I couldn't find any decent pay per view video solutions for low budget clients. So I'm considering using a membership extension with Joomla and hosting the video with amazon S3. The only issue is that once someone has signed up to view or download the video if they have any web development experience they will be able to get the url of the video and freely publish it on the web. How can this be prevented? It looks like it can be done using IAM User Temporary Credentials - AWS SDK for PHP but the client would prefer not to have to pay someone to spend hours writing custom php code to get this to work. With Amazon s3 I could at least check the log files I guess to manually monitor the url but is there a way to track the url with Google Analytics? or is there a more elegant solution?

• MediaWiki: how to make DISPLAYTITLE be used in categories listings

  The problem: a MediaWiki-driven site uses subpages to build pages hierarchy. When I add something like Page1/Page2/Subpage the exactly above string appears in listings and looks clumsy. I can't efficiently use short subpage title (Subpage in this example), since it can appear in different contexts and could confuse users. I can use DISPLAYTITLE magic word, with proper values of $wgRestrictDisplayTitle and $wgAllowDisplayTitle, to reassign page title and make it show on the page. However, when I look into categories listing this page, I will still see "Page1/Page2/Subpage" instead of the title assigned. Is there a simple way (through 'hack' or via relevant extension) to make the new title appear in every listing as well?

• Nautilus tags/labels/marks/emblems for directories

  Is there any way how to mark folders or files with tags(or labels or whatever) in Nautilus? It would be nice to sort marked folders or files through this tags. I am familiar with emblems but I cant sort through it and its complicated to assign emblem to folder(3 clicks at least). Especially my first idea was to mark folders in my Movie directory with tags seen, not seen, must see, and so on. Then I realized it would be useful in any other workspace with any custom tags... Is there any nautilus extension for this? Or any other file manager which can do this?
