  • Using jQuery or javascript to render json into multi-column table

    - by Scott Yu - UX designer
    I am trying to render a JSON into a HTML table. But the difficulty is making it so it loops through JSON and renders multiple columns if necessary. For the example below, what I want is this: Result wanted Result Wanted <table> <tr><th>AppName</th><td>App 1</td><td>App 2</td></tr> <tr><th>Last Modified</th><td>10/1/2012</td><td></td></tr> <tr><th>App Logo</th><td>10/1/2012</td><td></td></tr> blahblah </table> <table> <tr><th>AppName</th><td>App 1</td></tr> blahblah </table> JSON Example "Records": [ { "AppName": "App 1", "LastModified": "10/1/2012, 9:30AM", "ShipTo_Name": "Dan North", "ShipTo_Address": "Dan North", "ShipTo_Terms": "Dan North", "ShipTo_DueDate": "Dan North", "Items 1": [ { "Item_Name": "Repairs", "Item_Description": "Repair Work" } ] }, { "AppName": "App 2", "AppLogo": "http://www.google.com/logo.png", "LastModified": "10/1/2012, 9:30AM", "BillTo_Name": "Steve North", "Items 1": [ { "Item_Name": "Repairs", "Item_Description": "Repair Work" } ] } ], "Records": [ { "AppName": "App 1", "LastModified": "10/1/2012, 9:30AM", "ShipTo_Name": "222", "ShipTo_Address": "333 ", "ShipTo_Terms": "444", "ShipTo_DueDate": "5555", "Items 1": [ { "Item_Name": "Repairs", "Item_Description": "Repair Work" } ] } ], Code I am using now function CreateComparisonTable (arr,level,k) { var dumped_text = ""; if(!level) level = 0; //The padding given at the beginning of the line. var level_padding = ""; for(var j=0;j<level+1;j++) level_padding = "--"; if(typeof(arr) == 'object') { //Array/Hashes/Objects for (var item in arr) { var value = arr[item]; if (typeof(value) == 'object') { //If it is an array, if(item !=0) { dumped_text += '<tr><td>' + item + '<br>'; dumped_text += CreateComparisonTable(value,level+1); dumped_text += '</td></tr>'; } else { dumped_text += CreateComparisonTable(value,level, value.length); } } else { dumped_text += '<tr><td>' + level_padding + item + '</td><td>' + value + '</td></tr>'; } } } return dumped_text; } Jsfiddle here

  • Why is Chrome miscalculating jQuery submenu dimensions?

    - by chunkymonkey
    I'm trying to implement this dropdown menu with flyouts: http://jsfiddle.net/chunkymonkey/fr6x4/ In Chrome certain categories can be expanded to show their subcategories while others show nothing when opened up. For example: Alternative Rock can be expanded to show its multiple subcategories . . . BUT . . . World Music, which has as many subcategories, shows no subcategories when expanded. (SCREENSHOT: http://i.imgur.com/0WorR.jpg) I thought I had tracked this problem down to a problem with they way the dimensions of the dropdown elements are calculated in the original code: First change: - var newLeftVal = - ($('.fg-menu-current').parents('ul').size() - 1) * 180; + var newLeftVal = - ($('.fg-menu-current').parents('ul').size() - 1) * container.width(); Second change: Remove: var checkMenuHeight = function(el) { if (el.height() > options.maxHeight) { el.addClass('fg-menu-scroll') }; el.css({ height: options.maxHeight }); }; Add: var checkMenuHeight = function(el) { var max_height = options.maxHeight - breadcrumb.getTotalHeight(); if (el.height() > max_height) { el.addClass('fg-menu-scroll'); el.height(max_height); topList.height(max_height); } else { if (topList.height() < el.height()) { topList.height(el.height()); } } }; But it's still not working only on Chrome (version 8, Windows & Mac) (not sure why Chrome is different).

  • jQuery resetting value of form input when hidden

    - by RyanP13
    Hi, I am trying to clear the value attribute of an 'Other' form input when it is hidden from the user like so: // hide 'Other' inputs to start $('.jOther').hide(); // event listener on all select drop downs with class of jTitle $("select.jTitle").change(function(){ //set the select value var $titleVal = $(this).val(); if($titleVal != 'Other') { $(this).parent().find('.jOther').hide(); $(this).parent().find('input.jOther').attr("value", ""); } else { $(this).parent().find('.jOther').show(); } // Sets a cookie with named after the title field's ID attribute var $titleId = $(this).attr('id'); $.cookies.set('cpqb' + $titleId, $titleVal); }); It doesn't seem to be working and i have tried the following to no avail as well: $(this).parent().find('input.jOther').val(""); I have managed to alter other attributes in this way, such as the name, maxlength etc. Any ideas?

  • jquery ajaxstart ajaxstop show hide

    - by user1630583
    As usually seemingly simple things take days to resolve, maybe someone could point me to a solution but after 2 days I give up on the following problem; In html, in a form I have a button that is supposed to trigger loading of data through ajax call: <button type="" class="btn" onclick="getData(); return false;">Show Data</button> in javascript: $(document).ajaxStart(function() { $("#qloader").show(); }).ajaxStop(function() { $("#qloader").hide('slow'); });? and in html div with id qloader is defined with 100% width and height and spinner centered as the background, z-index above other: <div id="qloader" class="myLoader" >&nbsp;</div> Now, when page loads, ajax call is executed to get initial data, qloader div is brought up and it shows the spinner - animated, after ajax call finishes, qloader is hidden by ajaxStop. Next, when I click on a button (show data) to initiate another ajax call, ajaxStart is triggered, but it does not show qloader, it waits until ajaxStop is triggered and then in a blink of eye it shows qloader and hides it. I suspected that ajaxStart is not executed, so I put alert before $("#qloader").show(), then alert would be displayed and after that qloader WOULD be displayed BUT spinner animation would be suspended - no spinning, and after ajaxStop it would get hidden. Without alert in ajaxStart trigger, in subsequent ajax calls div is not shown until just before ajaxStop is triggered. It works fine for the first ajax call, but for subsequent ajax call triggered by click on form button it does not work. Any idea what is wrong with this setup?

  • How to validate a form with jQuery?

    - by vlad
    I tried to find the answer in other questions but actually nothing worked -.- Somehow I hate JavaScript ... Anyway! My Code looks like: function validate() { if ($(":input").length == 0) { $(":input").addClass("notvalid"); return false; } else { $(":input").removeClass("notvalid"); return true; } return true; } $(":input").blur(validate()); $(":input").keyup(validate()); $("#customForm").submit(function(){ if(validate()){ return true; } else { return false; } }); I just want to test every tag to be not empty. The test should be done when the focus is lost or after every key type. And of course after the submit button has been clicked. It doesn't work. Firefox error console says something like: unknown pseudoclass or pseudoelement 'input'. What does this mean?

  • JQuery use variable by name of divID

    - by Russell Parrott
    Just a quick question, that I cannot fathom out, hope you guys and girls can help. I have a div (with ID) that when clicked opens a new div - great works well, what I really want is to "populate" the new div with predefined text based on the clicked div's ID. example: <div class="infobox" id="help_msg1">Click me</div> I may have say 3 (actually more but...) of these div's This opens: <div id="helpbox">text in here</div> In/on my .js page I have doc ready etc then: var help_msg1 ='text that is a help message'; var help_msg2 ='text that is another help message'; var help_msg3 ='text that is yet another help message'; Then $('.infobox').live('click',function() { $('#helpbox').remove(); $('label').css({'font-weight': '400'}); $(this).next('label').css({'font-weight': '900'}); var offset = $(this).next().next().offset(); var offsetby = $(this).next().next().width(); var leftitby = offset.left+offsetby+10; $('body').append('text in here'); $('#helpbox').css( { 'left': leftitby, 'top': offset.top } ); }); Note I remove each #helpbox before appending the new one and the .next().next() identifies the appropriate text input that lot all works. What I need is how do I put var help_msg1 into the append when id="help_msg1" is clicked or var help_msg2 when id="help_msg2" is clicked etc. I have tried

  • Problem in getting response from server in jquery

    - by Alvin
    Hello, I'm using $.ajax(options) method to pass the request to server based on username and password, but whenever I try to print the response by XMLHttpRequest object when response gets successful, I'm getting an empty value. $(document).ready(function(){ $("#form").submit(function(){ $.ajax({url:"Chat.jsp",type:"POST",data:$("#form").serialize(),success:function(request) { alert(request.responseText); //This is displaying nothing },error:function(){document.write("YOU can't");}}); }); }); This is what I'm doing in my servlets code after executing query: try { String user = request.getParameter("j_username"); String password = request.getParameter("j_password"); if(user != null && password != null) { String query = "Select * from users where user_name="+"\'"+user+"\'"+"&& user_pass="+"\""+password+"\""; DBCheck db= new DBCheck(); boolean b = db.doExecuteQuery(con.createStatement(),query); response.setHeader("Cache-Control", "no-cache"); if(b) { response.getWriter().println("Username already exits"); } else { response.getWriter().println("Username doesn't exit"); } } } catch(SQLException ex) { ex.printStackTrace(); } } May I know the problem, and how can I fix it?

  • Jquery Ajax loading Problem

    - by Starx
    I have a function to load a html part into a element in main index page kinda like this $(".ajax").click(function() { //load a page into a element }); This works But the HTML part which i have just loaded also have links that need to trigger same function above, but it does not. Until I save that function in a separate .js file and load in the main index file as well as all other files from where I need to trigger that function even though these internal files are going to loaded into the the first main file . Is there any way for a function in the index file to run from the html document that is loaded inside a element.

  • Is it worth the time to switch from AjaxControlToolkit to jQuery?

    - by Matthew Jones
    I keep hearing all these things about how awesome jQuery is and how the AjaxControlToolkit sucks. Unfortunately, I only heard about this after I built my entire WebForms site using the toolkit. Now I am considering switching, if not entirely, mostly to jQuery. This is partially for the experience (having never coded in Javascript or used any frameworks) and partially because I think I have more control over jQuery. There is no pressing need to switch, but I'm considering doing it anyway. Is it worth tackling the learning curve for jQuery just to get the experience, of should I leave my working site well enough alone?

Can anyone tell me how can i stop it from appeneding in the other list and if i try to do the same thing as mentioned above then it should get back to the same list from where it was dragged. Thanks

  • Refresh table after using jQuery .append()

    - by Aaron Salazar
    The following code gets a JSON object and then spits its contents out into a <table>. The first time I do it I get my JSON content just fine. However, when I refresh, the refreshed data is stuck onto the bottom of my table. How do I refresh the data to show the new data only? I tried using .remove() but there was an obvious deleting and then a refresh of data. $(function() { $('#ReportedIssue').change(function() { //$('.data').remove() $.getJSON('/CurReport/GetUpdatedTableResults', function(json) { for (var i = 0; i < json.GetDocumentResults.length; i++) { $('#DocumentInfoTable').append( "<tr class='data'>" + "<td>" + json.GetDocumentResults[i].Document.DocumentId + "</td>" + "<td>" + json.GetDocumentResults[i].Document.LanguageCode + "</td>" + "<td>" + json.GetDocumentResults[i].ReportedIssue + "</td>" + "<td>" + json.GetDocumentResults[i].PageNumber + "</td>" + "</tr>" ); }; }); }); }); Thank you, Aaron

  • Jquery .Filter Function Question

    - by Matias
    Hi Guys, This is kindof a simple question, however, I don´t seem to figure out how to do it: I´ve got a slider filtering some stuff $("#price").slider( { range: true, step: 5, change: function(e,ui) { $('total').filter(function(index) { return ( ($("#price").slider("values", 0)) <= $(this).text() <= ($("#price").slider("values", 1))); }).parents('div.item').hide(); } }); Basically, I want an array with index of each of elements which have been filtered so I can reuse them for other purpose. I was thinking of editing filter function to something like: $('total').filter(function(index) { var matches = ( ($("#price").slider("values", 0)) <= $(this).text() <= ($("#price").slider("values", 1))); return matches; }.myFunction(matches){ //do some stuff here with matched elements } This is not correct, your help is greatly appreciated.

  • jquery remove selected element and append to another

    - by KnockKnockWhosThere
    I'm trying to re-append a "removed option" to the appropriate select option menu. I have three select boxes: "Categories", "Variables", and "Target". "Categories" is a chained select, so when the user selects an option from it, the "Variables" select box is populated with options specific to the selected categories option. When the user chooses an option from the "Variables" select box, it's appended to the "Target" select box. I have a "remove selected" feature so that if a user "removes" a selected element from the "Target" select box, it's removed from "Target" and put back into the pool of "Variables" options. The problem I'm having is that it appends the option to the "Variables" items indiscriminately. That is, if the selected category is "Age" the "Variables" options all have a class of "age". But, if the removed option is an "income" item, it will display in the "Age Variables" option list. Here's the HTML markup: <select multiple="" id="categories" name="categories[]"> <option class="category" value="income">income</option> <option class="category" value="gender">gender</option> <option class="category" value="age">age</option> </select> <select multiple="multiple" id="variables" name="variables[]"> <option class="income" value="10">$90,000 - $99,999</option> <option class="income" value="11">$100,000 - $124,999</option> <option class="income" value="12">$125,000 - $149,999</option> <option class="income" value="13">Greater than $149,999</option> <option class="gender" value="14">Male</option> <option class="gender" value="15">Female</option> <option class="gender" value="16">Ungendered</option> <option class="age" value="17">Ages 18-24</option> <option class="age" value="18">Ages 25-34</option> <option class="age" value="19">Ages 35-44</option> </select> <select height="60" multiple="multiple" id="target" name="target[]"> </select> And, here's the js: /* This determines what options are display in the "Variables" select box */ var cat = $('#categories'); var el = $('#variables'); $('#categories option').click(function() { var class = $(this).val(); $('#variables option').each(function() { if($(this).hasClass(class)) { $(this).show(); } else { $(this).hide(); } }); }); /* This adds the option to the target select box if the user clicks "add" */ $('#add').click(function() { return !$('#variables option:selected').appendTo('#target'); }); /* This is the remove function in its current form, but doesn't append correctly */ $('#remove').click(function() { $('#target option:selected').each(function() { var class = $(this).attr('class'); if($('#variables option').hasClass(class)) { $(this).appendTo('#variables'); sortList('variables'); } }); });

  • Add 2 titles styles in Nivo Lightbox Jquery

    - by user2984054
    I need to add 2 different titles to customize each one of them in the Nivo Lightbox Example: http://prntscr.com/23o766 But it's look like is not possible, is there a way to put 2 titles on 1 image? Or anyway to resolve this? also, I would love to be able to use the title as a link, but there are a lot of limitations. thanks. Code: <a class="image image-full" data-lightbox-gallery="gallery1" href="nivo-lightbox/img/b/grey_antique_q_white_mortar_concave_finish_technique_view_b.jpg" title="Grey Antique Q White Mortar Concave Finish Technique View B"> <img id="sample_board_image" src="nivo-lightbox/img/s/grey_antique_q_white_mortar_concave_finish_technique_view_b.jpg" alt="Grey Antique Q White Mortar Concave Finish Technique View B"></img> </a> There's must be a way to add more than 1 style in the title or any other way to add that text in the overlay in the Lightbox. I actually already tried the insertion of another html on the nivo lightbox, but it gives me a lot of trouble, the content is not showing properly, is there a way the content fits on the lightbox? http://prntscr.com/23qm97
