  • MVC using LINQ? - Can't return anonymous types

    I'd like to implement MVC while using LINQ (specifically, LINQ-to-entities). The way I would do this is have the Controller generate (or call something which generates) the result-set using LINQ, then return that to the View to display the data. The problem is, if I do: return (from o in myTable select o); All the columns are read from the database, even the ones (potentially dozens) I don't want. And - more importantly - I can't do something like this: return (from o in myTable select new { o.column }); because there is no way to make anonymous types type-safe! I know for sure there is no nice, clean way of doing this in 3.5 (this is not clean...), but what about 4.0? Is there anything planned, or even proposed? Without something like duck-typing-for-LINQ, or type-safe anonymous return values (it seems to me the compiler should certainly be capable of that), it appears to be nearly impossible to cleanly separate the Controller from the View.

  • Using Timthumb to Resize Images from CKEditor

    I am using CKEditor to do basic text and image input into my website. I have noticed that it is quite sporadic in it's method of generating HTML for images when you add them. (Sometimes it might use height and width tags, other times it might use CSS). I use Timthumb for on the fly image resizing on a number of other websites and find it very useful. I use a mod_rewrite rule in my .htaccess file to allow me to create domains like http://localhost/images/800x600/image.jpg and achieve resizing. I would like to somehow incorporate this into CKEditor. I cannot find how to do this looking through the documentation so I have tried post-processing the data produced by CKEditor using Regex, however as mentioned before CKEditor seems to be too sporadic to be able to get this to work all the time. Anyone else done this before? How did you achieve it?

    I am using VBScript to copy files using xcopy. The problem is that the folder path has to be entered by the user. Assuming I put that path in a variable, say h, how do I use this variable in the xcopy command? Here is the code I tried: Dim WshShell, oExec, g, h h = "D:\newfolder" g = "xcopy $h D:\y\ /E" Set WshShell = CreateObject("WScript.Shell") Set oExec = WshShell.Exec(g) I also tried &h but it did not work. Could anyone help me work out the correct syntax? Any help is appreciated.

  • using WP_Query with custom SQL in wordpress

    Hi. I am writing a plugin for wordpress and I want to create my own search. I have tried to alter the wordpress search, but what I am doing is very specific with the SQL query. I am comparing lat and long coordinates and getting posts based on that. I can display posts by using the standard wpdb query, but then I don't get the other features like paging. I'd like to be able to use my SQL statement with the WP_Query function. If I'm right in thinking, I should then be able to use the paging and other features which come from the $posts global variable. Is this right?? I've googled for hours but can't find anything for plugins outside of using args to select categories etc. I simply need to send a complete SQL command - nothing else. Many thanks....

  • Using QT to build a WYSIWYG Editor for a Custom Markup Language

    I'm new to QT, and am trying to figure out the best means of creating a WYSIWYG editor widget for a custom markup language that displays simple text, images, and links. I need to be able to propagate changes from the WYSIWYG editor to the custom markup representation. As a concrete example of the problem domain, imagine that the custom markup might have a "player" tag which contains a player name and a team name. The markup could look like this: Last week, <player id="1234"><name>Aaron Rodgers</name><team>Packers</team></player> threw a pass. This text would display in the editor as: Last week, Aaron Rodgers of the Packers threw a pass. The player name and the team name would be editable directly within the editor in standard WYSIWYG fashion, so that my users do not have to learn any markup. Also, when the player name is moused-over, a details pop-up will appear about that player, and similarly for the team. With that long introduction, I'm trying to figure out where to start with QT. It seems that the most logical option would be the Rich Text API using a QTextDocument. This approach seems less than ideal given the limitations of a QTextDocument: I can't figure out how to capture navigation events from clicking on links. Following links on click seems to only be enabled when the QTextEdit is readonly. Custom objects that implement QTextObjectInterface are ignored in copy-and-paste operations Any HTML-based markup that is passed to it as Rich Text is retranslated into a series of span tags and lots of other junk, making it extremely difficult to propagate changes from the editor back to the original custom markup. A second option appears to be QWebKit, which allows for live editing of HTML5 markup, so I could specify a two-way translation between the custom markup and HTML5. I'm not clear on how one would propagate changes from the editor back to the original markup in real-time without re-translating the entire document on every text change. The QWebKit solutions looks like awfully bulky to me (Learning WebKit along with QT) to what should be a relatively simple problem. I have also considered implementing the WYSIWYG with a custom class using native QT containers, labels, images, and other widgets manually. This seems like the most flexible approach, and the one most likely not to run into unresolvable problems. However, I'm pretty sure that implementing all the details of a normal text editor (selecting text, font changes, cut-and-paste support, undo/redo, dragging of objects, cursor placement, etc.) will be incredibly time consuming. So, finally, my question: are there any QT gurus out there with some advice on where to start with this sort of project? BTW, I am using QT because the application is a desktop application that needs platform independence.

    Does the database connection have to be set inside a TransactionScope? Or can I set it in the ctor and then have instance methods create up a TransactionScope?     I break the code of the for loop without using break like I have for loop given below.And when i is 1 or 2 or 3 or any else but if condition is true then loop will be terminated because i will be 5 if the condition is true.And so NO need of break is needed there.Beacause I do not want to use break.I have done like this here.It works. bool myCondition=false; for(int i=0;i<5;i++) { if(myCondition) { i=5; } } But now I want to use foreach loop and in this loop when some condition is true then I want to break the foreach loop code.So what should I do here for breaking the foreach loop code without using break ?     During a recent restart of our development server the SQL Server started using .NET 4.0 for the SQLCLR. Method's type signature is not Interop compatible. Does anyone know how to solve this or how we can force SQL Server CLR to use an earlier version of the Framework?

    I have seen the examples presented here of how to draw a line but the examples only show how to do it with the mouse, by clicking. What I want to do is draw the line manually using JavaScript given a list of Longitude and Latitude coordinates. The reason I cannot work on the source provided in the link above is because they are only calling activate on the feature, and then let the user point and click on the map. Has anyone ever drew a path on an OpenLayers map programatically? What I want to do is exactly this: http://openspace.ordnancesurvey.co.uk/openspace/example4.html, but without using OpenSpace.

  • Cloning a read-write github repository using TortoiseHg

    I'm trying to clone my personal fork on github using the git+ssh protocol with TortoiseHg. It's giving me a rather strange error. Here is the command hg clone git+ssh//[email protected]:myusername/thefork.git This is after I have installed the hg-git module and it works just fine to clone using the git:// syntax. But I believe it's having trouble with the ssh. The error I'm getting is this. importing Hg objects into Git [Error 2] The system cannot find the file specified I have tried adding manually the ssh command into the mercurial.ini file like this [ui] username = [email protected] ssh="C:\Program Files\TortoiseHg\TortoisePlink.exe" -ssh -2 -i "C:\Source\SSHPrivateKey.ppk" But I still get the same error. I am having a hard time to understand how I can save the authors in view function? I am thinking of using a hidden field to record all the author id's but I am having a hard time figuring out how to save it on the postback.

  • exception with Linq to SQL using sdf file

    Hi, I've set up a project with an SDF local database file and am trying to access it using an LINQ To SQL (".dbml") file. I have used the connection string provided by the sdf file and can instanciate the object with out a problem: thisDataContext = new MyDataContext(GetConnectionString()); However, whenever i try to access any information from it eg var collection = (from MyObject p in thisDataContext.MyTable select p); I get the error - "The table name is not valid. [ Token line number (if known) = 2,Token line offset (if known) = 14,Table name = Person ]" I am using Visual Studio 2008 SP1 .Net 3.5 and SQL 2008 CE. I gather something similar happened for SQL 2005 CE and a Hotfix was released, but i would have thought the fix would have been fixed in this version before release. Does anyone know the fix for this? Thanks

Any ideas? Does it restrict sending resources over the content provider somehow? P.S. I also got an error when I tried to create the file with File path = new File(uri); saying 'there is no applicable constructor to '(android.net.Uri)' though http://developer.android.com/reference/java/io/File.html#File(java.net.URI) Seems to think it's possible...unless java.net.URI is different to android.net.URI, in which case can I convert them?   • Using IVMRWindowlessControl to display video in a Winforms Control and allow for full screen toggle

    I've recently switched from using the IVideoWindow interface to IVMRWindowlessControl in my custom Winforms control to display video. The reason for this was to allow zoom capabilities on the video within the control. However in switching over, I've found that the FullScreen mode from IVideoWindow is not available and I am currently trying to replicate this using the SetVideoWindow() method. I'm finding that I size the video in my control to be at the same resolution as the screen however I can't get the control to position itself to the top/left of the screen and become the top most window. Any ideas on how to achieve this since the IVideoWindow::put_FullScreenMode just did it all for you?

How can I draw the polygon and fill it with a color as background to mark the area in Google Maps? I have read the API Manual “how to draw polygons?” basically you would need to mark multiple points and then combine them into a polygon. But I will need to do this using mouse drag, just like drawing a shape. Kindly help me out how to achieve this. Thanks in advance.

  • playing only part of a sound using FMOD

    I'm trying to play only part of a sound using FMOD, say frames 50000-100000 of a 200000 frame file. I have found a couple of ways to seek forward (i.e. to start playback at frame 50000) but I have not found a way to make sure the sound stops playing at 100000. Is there any way FMOD can natively do this without having to add lbsndfile or the like into the picture? I should also mention that I am using the streaming option. I have to assume that these sounds are arbitrarily large and cannot be comfortably/quickly loaded into memory.
