Hi,
I got used to the xml support and recursive common table expressions of sql server 2005. I am just wondering whether any free dbs like mysql support these requirements nowadays? Thanks.

I have a database in data center, which is running MySQL, and I want to change the database from data center to host in my company. At that time, I don't want to stop the data base in the data center, is there anyway to this kind of integeration? Thank you...
I am trying to parse the MySQL data types returned by "DESCRIBE [TABLE]".
It returns strings like:
int(11)
float
varchar(200)
int(11) unsigned
float(6,2)
I've tried to do the job using regular expressions but it's not working.
PHP CODE:
$string = "int(11) numeric";
$regex = '/(\w+)\s*(\w+)/';
var_dump( preg_split($regex, $string) );
excuse my English I speak Spanish
I'm trying to display multiple php and mysql registration, after that the show in an iframe
the problem is that apparently in the iframe shows me errors accents and other characters for example: for example (?D?nde cuesta menos y se consume m?s?")
this is what shows (?)
In the original query or first does not show me that, but in the iframe shows me that error
and probe with http-equiv = "content-type" and I worked
What else I can do?
What should I do?
regards
I have this table...
--------------------------------------
| user_id | status | status_date |
--------------------------------------
| 1 | Current | 2012-08-01 |
| 1 | Referral | 2012-03-14 |
| 2 | Referral | 2012-04-23 |
| | | |
--------------------------------------
How would I query to find a distinct user_id who has a referral date before 2012-06-30 AND either a current date of after 2012-06-30 or no current status record at all?
Database is MySQL.

I am doing a mysql database search and retrieving some results via ajax livesearch using the example on w3schools and i want to manipulate those results (drag and drop them) but im having a problem because the script loads before you enter the search and get the results so it does absolutely nothing no the search results. I'm getting average prices by week on 7 million rows, it's taking around 30 seconds to get the job done.
This is the simple query:
SELECT AVG(price) as price, yearWEEK(FROM_UNIXTIME(timelog)) as week from pricehistory where timelog > $range and product_id = $id GROUP BY week
The only week that actually gets data changed and is worth averaging every time is always the last one, so this calculation for the whole period is a waste of resources. I just wanted to know if mysql has a tool to help out on this.
i save in mysql database the time using NOW() function. how can i change the value returned of NOW() function? i want to add 6 hours.

I will be uploading my website to a VPS soon. It is a classifieds website which uses Solr integrated with MySql.
Solr is updated whenever a new classified is put or deleted.
I need a way to make the commit() and optimize() be automated, for example once every 3 hours or so.
How can I do this? (Details Please)
When is it ideal to optimize?
Thanks
I have got a simple MySQL table and primary index (id) is not numbered one by one (1, 31, 35, 100 etc.). I want them to be numbered like (1, 2, 3, 4). Please tell me how to do it. I would also like to point that I am aware of possible consequences of the operation, but I just want to tidy up the table.
The following is my DB data, how can I sorting it by sid and prev_sid with php/mysql!?
sid prev_sid type
000 197 app_home
197 198 page_teach
198 218 page_teach
199 211 page_step
211 207 link
218 559 page_step
559 199 page_step
Result:
sid prev_sid type
000 197 app_home
197 198 page_teach
198 218 page_teach
218 559 page_step
559 199 page_step
199 211 page_step
211 207 link
000 197 198 218 559 199 199 211 207
I wonder if this is possible with straight SQL on MySQL. I need to do SELECT COUNT(*) FROM on each table in the database and output results in one result set.
Is it possible to do with just SQL?
In some languages (ColdFusion comes to mind), you can run a query on the result set from a previous query. Is it possible to do something like that in php (with MySQL as the database)?
I sort of want to do:
$rs1 = do_query( "SELECT * FROM animals WHERE type = 'fish'" );
$rs2 = do_query( "SELECT * FROM rs1 WHERE name = 'trout'" );
Hi this is my code but when I run it in mysql it will show an error because of datatype but my friend checked it with sql server and it doesn't show error and also insert the value: 32769 .which of them is correct?

I have a 'price' variable that contains some integer number from a MySQL database.
I want to check how many numbers the 'price' variable contains, and add a space in the variable depending on how many numbers. See below:
Example:
If 'price' is 150000 I would like the output to be 150 000 (notice the space).
OR, if it is 19000 I would like it to output 19 000...
How would you do this the easiest way?
UPDATE files
SET filepath = REPLACE(filepath, `sites/somedomain.com/files/`, `sites/someotherdomain.com/files/`);
I have a table called files with a field called filepath. MySQL returns this error: Unknown column 'sites/somedomain.com/files/' in 'field list'
Hi Experts,
I am having an issue with importing a large(60MB) CSV file in MYSQL DB.
The problem arises when an address field has multiple comma seperated values e.g. home no, street no, town etc.
I tried to use BigDump for it but, the problem did not solved because of a single field containing multiple comma separated values.
Any idea, suggestion or solution from experts how to handle it?
Please reply, because I am sick of it.
Thanks

I'm running a LAMP stack. When I go into phpmyadmin, I can see that there are quite a number of sleeping connections which probably should be closed. Is there a way, using either Apache or MySQL, to determine on which pages those connections are created?
