• Installing SQL Server 2008 on Windows 7 64-bit

  I'm having a shocking time trying to install SQL Server 2008 on 64-bit Windows 7. When I run setup.exe, I get the following error message: Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 installation has failed. SQL Server 2008 Setup requires .NET Framework 3.5 to be installed Things I've tried: I've checked and double checked. I do have .NET Framework 3.5 installed, with SP1 I've read about a missing Windows Installer 4.5 installation producing the same error. Win7 comes with Windows Installer 5, which hopefully satisfies this requirement, as I've tried to install 4.5 and it won't let me Burning the ISO to DVD and installing from there. Installing on an XP machine using the same ISO. This works, so the ISO must be fine. Considering SQL Server 2005, but it really needs to be 2008 for the project. Update Creating a slipstream version gives the same error Update I could install SQL Server Express, and then SP1, but couldn't upgrade to Enterprise. If you've come across this issue, or know how to fix it, I'd love to know.

• wuinstall doesn't work with winrs

  I've been having issues with psexec so I've been migrating to use winrs (part of the winrm system). It's a very nice remoting tool which is proving to be more reliable then psexec. Wuinstall is used to install available windows updates. The two however don't play well together. I'm working on a verity of windows servers 2003, 2008 and 2008r2. Wuinstall behaves the same across all hosts and behaves as expected if executed locally by the same user. • Uninstall php5 installed from source.

  I have tried to install php5 from source , and it worked... Then for some reason need to install the official packets, so i tried a make uninstall and for my surprise there is such make uninstall... so i tried delete all the installed files by hand.   We're having an issue on an apache server where every 15 to 20 minutes it stops serving PHP requests entirely. On occasions it will return a 503 error, other times it will recover enough to serve the page but only after a delay of a minute or more. Static content is still served during that time. • Installing GitHub for Mac - "Github cannot be opened because of a probem"

  I'm trying to get started using Git for Mac, but I receive an error when I try to run the program. I'm new to GitHub and relatively new to Mac. First, I installed Git using the downloadable .dmg file named "git-1.7.12.3-intel-universal-snow-leopard". I ran the .pkg file contained therein and the install seemed to work fine. I'm using a new macbook pro w/ retina. Then I downloaded the Github for Mac installer, "mac_GitHub for Mac 69.zip". When I double-click the file, it shows that there is a single file of type "Application". Double-clicking that application file produces the error: "GitHub cannot be opened because of a problem". • fatal error 'stdio.h' Python 2.7 on Mc OS X 10.7.5 [closed]

  I have this weird issue on my Mac OS X 10.7.5 /Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.7/include/python2.7/Python.h:33:10: fatal error: 'stdio.h' file not found What caused the above error? This error has been bugging me and i can't install mysql-python as i'm stuck with this step. I'm using Python 2.7.3. Things like Google App Engine ( python ), python script, tornado generally works on my mac. But not mysql-python. I've install MySQL using the dmg image and have copied the mysql folder to /usr/local/ How do i fix this? ======UPDATE====== I've ran the command, and tried to install mysql-python by running sudo python setup.py install. • iis7 large worker process request queue creating process blocking aspnet.config & machine.config amended (bottleneck)

  ASP.net 2.0 app .net 2.0 framework IIS7 I am seeing a large queue of "requests" appear under the "worker process" option. State recorded appear to be Authenticate Request and Execute Request Handles more than anything else. I have amended aspnet.config in C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v2.0.50727 (32 bit path and 64 bit path) to include: maxConcurrentRequestsPerCPU="50000" maxConcurrentThreadsPerCPU="0" requestQueueLimit="50000" I have amended machine.config in C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v2.0.50727\CONFIG (32 bit and 64 bit path) to include: autoConfig="true" maxIoThreads="100" maxWorkerThreads="100" minIoThreads="50" minWorkerThreads="50" minFreeThreads="176" minLocalRequestFreeThreads="152" Still i get the issue. The issue manifestes itself as a large number of processes in the Worker Process queue. Number of current connections to the website display 500 when this issue occurs. I dont think i have seen concurrent connections over 500 without this issue occurring. Web application slows as the request block. Refreshing the app pool resolves for a while (as expected) as the load is spread between the two pools. Application pool in question FIXED REQUEST have been set to refresh on 50000. Thank you for any help. Scott quick edit to say hmm, my develeopers are telling me the project was built with .net 3.5 framework. Looking at C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v3.5 there does not appear to be a ASPNET.CONFIG or a MACHINE.CONFIG .... is there a 3.5 equivalent ? after a little searching apparenetly 3.5 uses the 2.0 framework files that 3.5 is missing. So back to the original question , where is my bottleneck ?

  My Apache process segfaults whenever I call curl_exec() from PHP with an "https://" URL. If I use http instead of https as the URL transport, it works perfectly, so I know curl and the other curl options are correct. I can use curl from the command-line on that server using the https version of the URL and it works perfectly, so I know the remote server is responding correctly, the cert isn't expired, etc.. • Yahoo marked my mail as spam and says domainkey fails

  Hi Yahoo is marking our mail as spam. We are using PHP Zend framework to send the mail. Mail header says that Domain Key is failed. Authentication-Results: mta160.mail.in.yahoo.com from=mydomain.com; domainkeys=fail (bad sig); from=mydomain.com; dkim=pass (ok) We configured our SMTP server (Same server used to send mail from zend framework.) in outlook and send the mail to yahoo. This time yahoo says domainkeys is pass. Authentication-Results: mta185.mail.in.yahoo.com from=speedgreet.com; domainkeys=pass (ok); from=speedgreet.com; dkim=pass (ok) Domainkey is added in mail header on our server which is used by both outlook client and PHP client. yahoo recognize the mail which is sent from outlook and yahoo does not recognize the mail from PHP client. As far as I know, Signing the email is done on the server side with help of domain key. PHP and Outlook uses the same server to sign the mail. But why yahoo handling differently? What I am missing here? Any Idea? Can anyone help me?

I recreated the directory in /var/cache instead and editted php.ini to point to the new cache dir location, chmod'd, chown'd etc. and still eAccelerator is not creating any of the cache files in the directory (just empty). Could someone suggest what I might be doing incorrectly here. I've read through numerous pages to try and troubleshoot the issue to no avail. Any help appreciated.

• Uninstall php5 installed from source

  I have tried to install php5 from source , and it worked... Then for some reason need to install the official packets, so i tried a make uninstall and for my surprise there is such make uninstall... so i tried delete all the installed files by hand. • Problem Uninstalling Microsoft Internet Explorer

  On Windows Vista Home Premium (x64) I am trying to uninstall Microsoft Internet Explorer. The procedures explained all over the web involve going through the control panel to Programs and Features. If MSIE is listed there, then uninstall in the usual way. If it is not listed there, click Turn Windows features on and off and deactivate it there. But Internet Explorer is not listed in either place. Background: I initiated some process in MSIE a couple of months ago that caused all web pages to no longer save login information or remain logged in when requested. As you can tell from the way I described that, I don't remember what it was and have no way to simply reverse it. I had a few problems with .NET Framework as well. So, I've uninstalled all browsers except MSIE and uninstalled .NET Framework. I've reinstalled .NET Framework and all other browsers. I have not been able to uninstall MSIE. Have Tried: I tried installing over the existing installation, but auto-update must be keeping it nicely up to date. The attempt simply produced an information window telling me that my current version is more up-to-date than the new version I tried to install.

• Upgrade Centos 5 tot PHP 5.2 or 5.3 [recommended way?]

  We are using Zend Framework and in version 2, php 5.2 will be the minimum requirement. We love CentOS and we'd like to keep using it, but PHP 5.1 just won't do anymore when developing web applications with Zend framework. CentOS repository if any is available. We only need to upgrade PHP, the rest of the CentOS setup is fine the way it is. For us, it's important however to keep the YUM cycle intact using the normal repositories. So in short: is it even possible to upgrade only PHP by using an external repo or otherwise? While still upgrading all our other packages safely through normal yum usage? Thanks for your help!

• What causes PHP pages to consistently download instead of running normally

  Hi, I'm running a Ubuntu Server on a VM, to test out different web forum solutions. I have set up a ~/public_html/ to be accessible with the apache2 web server, and that works fine. However when I go to a .php file on a browser (using my VM's ip-address/~username/phpfile.php) it does not display it as it should. Instead it offers to save to file/asks what program to open it with. Interestingly though that dialog box does recognise that it is a php file. I have the following version of php installed on the system: PHP 5.3.2-1ubuntu4.5 with Suhosin-Patch (cli) (built: Sep 17 2010 13:49:46) Copyright (c) 1997-2009 The PHP Group Zend Engine v2.3.0, Copyright (c) 1998-2010 Zend Technologies And the following server: Server version: Apache/2.2.14 (Ubuntu) Server built: Nov 18 2010 21:19:09 If anyone knows what might be causing this/potential solutions it would make me very happy :) EDIT: Turns out files this behaviour was only apparent on files in the ~/public_html/ directory. All php files in /var/www/ work fine. Prizes go to whoever can explain why? :D (And by prizes I just mean a well done, no actual prizes I'm afraid.)

• File exists but is unreadable by PHP

  More than once I have ran into this issue: I have a cache file that is automatically generated by PHP. It contains some generated PHP code. However for some reason the file cannot be read and parsed by PHP. These are the symptoms: File actually exists on file system. Using Terminal you can navigate to the file, view its contents (which are fully intact), etcetc. PHP file_exists() will report that the file exists...which is correct since it does :) Then I include() the file. But when actually parsing the file, PHP will just consider it an empty file. No fatal error, just no PHP code actually executed. Again, its as if the file was completely empty (which I assure you, it is not)... It is not a permissions issue. Permissions are set as needed. Workaround: open the file in Terminal via 'nano' or some other text editor and just save it to the disk again. After that (despite no changes to the content) PHP will run it just fine... As a clarification, I'd like to add that this happens rarely, but frequently enough to be a problem. And even when it does, there are hundreds of other similar files on the same system that work without a problem... If this were an issue affecting only my own scripts, I would consider that there must be a bug in the way I generate the PHP code. But no, the issue has occurred more than once when deploying to a server (usually from Beanstalk repository via FTP). The issue has been present on various servers, Debian and Ubuntu running Zend Community Server. Any ideas? One that crossed my mind was opcode cache-ing (part of Zend Server CE)...could it be that an empty version of the file is cached if it is requested while the write operation is still in progress?

  I'm running Windows Server 2008 64-bit "workstation" and would like to get corflags.exe. Which SDK do I need to download? Edit: I know about .NET Framework 2.0 Software Development Kit (SDK) (x64) and Windows SDK for Windows Server 2008 and .NET Framework 3.5 but I was hoping to find something smaller as these are quite large downloads. Also the note about 2.0 SDK seems to suggest to download the 3.5 one, should I follow that?

• C# concurrency vs Java concurrency, which is neatly designed? which is better?

  I am hard core fan for Doug Lee and his concurrency framework. I have also (from twitter) came across a comment from Joshua Bloch that java concurrency is one of the best framework (guess that he compared to .Net). But some of you worked in both Java Concurrency and .NET concurrency. What is your opinion? Which is neatly designed? in your opinion, Which is better?
