    Hi, I need to use a photo gallery similar to the one iPhone uses. For this I have downloaded the iPhotoGallery source code from google svn repository. (http://code.google.com/p/iphotogallery/). I need to know how to use this project in our own tab bar based application. i.e. I want to load the thumbs view when I go to a particular tab in my application. Does anybody have a clue?

    Hi - we are looking at developing a web application that allows users (some subscribed (authenticated) and some not (browsing)). We would like some basic document management, a wiki, a blog etc. and do not expect the app to be heavily used (DB size not an issue at this stage). I require the GUI to be customised to our corporate style and we access to .net development skills which we would like to leverage to develop the application. With this in mind I have the follwoing 3 questions: Is WSS 3.0 / SPF 2010 the correct framework to be building this app on? What are the licensing terms or are these frameworks similar to the .Net framework that once installed on our host server we can use the base services provided to develop our apps on? I hope this makes sense & thanks in advance for any responses.

    The commons WPF applications take some time for loading medium complex views, once the view is loaded it works fine. For example in a Master - Detail view, if the Detail view is very complex and use different DataTemplates take some seconds (2-3 seconds) for load the view. When i open the Outlook application, for instance, it renders complex views and it is relative much more fast. Is there a way for increase the performance of my WPF application? Maybe a way for not loading the template's data every time that change the "master" item, and load it only one time in the app time live? i will appreciate any suggestion.

  • Custom punctuation function making script run over the php's 60s runtime limit

    I am importing allot of product data from an XML file (about 5000 products). When I run the script I can make it work in about 10-12 seconds. Now, when I add this punctuation function which makes sure each product description ends with a punctuation sign, the code runs until the php 60 seconds loadtime on my server but I'm not getting any errors. I have error reporting turned on. I just get a final error that the script could not load in 60 seconds. The question is, looking at this function, is it that resource consuming?     Hello, Here's the deal. I'm just starting with Java programming, I've made a simple application that uses SWT graphic library and I want to deploy it on a Mac (running the latest version of MacOS X). I did all the programming in my Windows 7 machine, so here are my questions: Q1) Can I make an executable file for MacOS X from my Windows machine? How? (I saw that it's possible to create .exe files on Windows, instead of using .jar; I want to do the same for the Mac, of course it won't be an .exe) Q2) If I export my project in Eclipse and I choose Runnable JAR File and then on Library Handling I pick Extract required libraries into generated JAR or Package required libraries into generated JAR I end up with a huge .JAR (about 15MB of size, my application consist in just a button on a Window and a tiny method that doesn't do much). I know there is a profile tool call valgrind on linux. But it breaks down time spent on each method, and it does not give me an overall picture of how much time spent on CPU processing vs idle? Or is there a way to do that with valgrind. Thank you.

  • Intersection() and Except() is too slow with large collections of custom objects

    I am importing data from another database. My process is importing data from a remote DB into a List<DataModel> named remoteData and also importing data from the local DB into a List<DataModel> named localData. I am then using LINQ to create a list of records that are different so that I can update the local DB to match the data pulled from remote DB. Like this: var outdatedData = this.localData.Intersect(this.remoteData, new OutdatedDataComparer()).ToList(); I am then using LINQ to create a list of records that no longer exist in remoteData, but do exist in localData, so that I delete them from local database. Like this: var oldData = this.localData.Except(this.remoteData, new MatchingDataComparer()).ToList(); I am then using LINQ to do the opposite of the above to add the new data to the local database. Like this: var newData = this.remoteData.Except(this.localData, new MatchingDataComparer()).ToList(); Each collection imports about 70k records, and each of the 3 LINQ operation take between 5 - 10 minutes to complete. How can I make this faster?     I have to display some data in a treeview. The "real" data model is huge and I cannot copy all the stuff in a TreeStore, so I guess I should use a GenericTreeModel to act like a virtual treeview. Btw the first column is the classic icon+text style and I think I should declare a column with a CellRendererPixbuf (faq sample), but I'm not sure what the model methods on_get_n_columns() and on_get_value() should return. It's both a Pixbuf and a string value for the same column. Any help will be appreciated.

    Is there anyway to use the built-in DNN Menu module to display a menu based at a different root node other than the current tab node? Given the following structure: Page1 -child1_1 -child1_2 Page3 Page2(hidden) -child2_1 -child2_2 In this scenario I will be having 2 menus on this skin. One will be normal navigation based off of the current node and the other will be a set of 'static' links to pages located outside the current node. When on Page1 the normal navigation will show Page1, Page3 and the children of Page1 nested under Page1. The 'static' links will use 'Page2' as their root and will show child2_1 and child2_2.

  • Efficient job progress update in web application

    Hi, Creating a web application (Django in my case, but I think the question is more general) that is administrating a cluster of workers doing queued jobs, there is a need to track each jobs progress. When I've done it using database UPDATE (PostgreSQL in this case), it severely hits the database performance, because each UPDATE creates a new row in a table, and in my case only vacuuming DB removes obsolete rows. Having 30 jobs running and reporting progress every 1 minute DB may require vacuuming (and it means huge slow downs on a front end side for all the employees working with the system) every 10 days. Because the progress information isn't critical, ie. it doesn't have to be persistent, how would you do the progress updates from jobs without using an overhead database implies? There are 30 worker servers, each doing 1 or 2 jobs simultaneously, 1 front end server which serves a web application to users, and 1 database server.

    Hello, I have two web applications in ASP.NET which are quite the same (same business logic, same DAL, same DB scheme but different instance). The only thing that I need to change is the design (logo, color,...) and the text (global and local resource) to adress two separate business sector. We cannot "subdomain" the application because we need the two app "seems to be" independant. Is it a good idea to run only one instance for the 2 web applications. For example : I will have 2 hostnames : mycompagny.com and mycompagny2.com and I will put an HTTP Module which will set a string which will be propagated in my application like 'company' and 'company2'. I will instanciate the dal only once but the connection string will change depending on the string 'company' or 'company2'. Any pros and cons ? Any other alternatives ?

    In my web.config I have the following: <customErrors mode="RemoteOnly" defaultRedirect="/error.aspx"/> When an error occurs, the user is redirected to /error.aspx?aspxerrorpath=/somepage where I can get user's name, name of the page, date, but... I can't get the error message! I can get it via the OnException method, but then I won't be able to get the name of the page which is very important for me. How can I get both the page and the error message?

  • global counter in application: bad practice?

    In my C++ application I sometimes create different output files for troubleshooting purposes. Each file is created at a different step of our pipelined operation and it's hard to know file came before which other one (file timestamps all show the same date). I'm thinking of adding a global counter in my application, and a function (with multithreading protection) which increments and returns that global counter. Then I can use that counter as part of the filenames I create. Is this considered bad practice? Many different modules need to create files and they're not necessarily connected to each other.
