• sql stored procedure in visual studio 2008

  Hi, I want to write stored procedure in visual studio that as a parameter recieves the name of project and runs in database TT and copies data from TT.dbo.LCTemp (where the LC is the name of the project recieved as a parameter) table to "TT.dbo.Points" table. both tables have 3 columns: PT_ID, Projectname and DateCreated I think I have written it wrong, here it is: ALTER PROCEDURE dbo.FromTmpToRegular @project varchar(10) AS BEGIN declare @ptID varchar(20) declare @table varchar(20) set @table = 'TT.dbo.' + @project + 'Temp' set @ptID = @table + '.PT_ID' Insert into TT.dbo.Points Select * from [@table] where [@ptID] Not in(Select PT_ID from TT.dbo.Points) END Any idea what I did wrong? • Fastest way of converting a quad to a triangle strip?

  What is the fastest way of converting a quadrilateral (made up of foyr x,y points) to a triangle strip? I'm well aware of the general triangulation algorithms that exist, but I need a short, well optimized algorithm that deals with quadrilaterals only.   hi all. i have a System.Drawing.Point[] filled with some System.Drawing.Point's. so when i want to draw this points as a polygon in a System.Windows.Form instance , the final drawn polygon is not all in the screen or sometimes is very small (in screen shown as 2-3 pixel). i wonder if there is some Library that using that i can just send Point[] to that and thatself scales and ... points and draws polygon manner that all points shown in screen and they are scaled to fit the screen (i mean small objects that shown as 2-3 pixel scale up to fit entire screen); thaks all and sorry for my bad english...

• Can hitTestPoint be used with local coordinates at all?

  In AS3 I have a game where a vehicle rotates to the direction of the cursor, but when it "moves", its sprite stays stationary in the middle of the stage while the map layer below it actually moves, causing the illusion of movement of the vehicle on the map. There are obstacles on the map that the vehicle cannot pass. The obstacles are in a movie clip that is a part of the map layer and move with it. hitTestPoint seems only to be able to check if the obstacle clip is touching points on the stage rather than points on the map, meaning that I cannot feed it the same coordinates I use to check the map boundaries, which are points on the map. I don't think I can use localToGlobal because the function I use to check obstacle collisions does not have access to a reference to the obstacle movie clip. Is there a way in these conditions to force hitTestPoint to use its local coordinate system on the map? I have included a diagram:

• How do I change the JAVA_HOME for ant?

  I'm doing java work on a class server where I don't have root. Whenever I try to compile using ant, it points to the wrong directory (/usr/tomcat instead of /usr/tomcat/jre ). One of the things we were told to do when setting up our user accounts was to add export JAVA_HOME=/usr/tomcat/jre to the .bashrc file. I don't know if that was supposed to take care of the problem but it doesn't seem to. So, how can I change the JAVA_HOME property for ant but only for when I run ant? EDIT: echo $JAVA_HOME points to /usr/tomcat/jre echo $JAVA_HOME\bin points to /usr/tomcat/jrebin The problem is when I normally run ant I get this error: Unable to locate tools.jar. This is what I have so far. c:/website1/ points to www.website1.com c:/website1/vd1/ points to www.website2.com c:/website1/vd2/ points to www.website3.com The webhost I'm working with has done it the following way, but now I'm getting a bunch of errors that seems like it's not seeing the App_code folder. Do I need to make a lot of changes? How does this affect the location references?

Can anyone recommend a good chart / graph component for Silverlight 4.0? I'm looking for one that provides: multiple simultaneous series, both scatter and line multi-select of points configurable tool-tips automatic axis scaling real-time update of data That last point sounds trivial but is tripping up the Silverlight Toolkit Chart; if you rapidly change the axis range, it sometimes leaves phantom points behind in addition to the points it should be displaying.

• C++ memory management of reference types

  Hello, I'm still a fairly novice programmer and I have a question about c++ memory management with refence types. First of all, my understanding of reference types: A pointer is put on the stack and the actual data that the pointer points to is created and placed on the heap. Standard arrays and user defined classes are refence types. Is this correct? Second, my main question is do c and c++'s memory management mechanisms (malloc, free and new, delete) always handle this properly and free the memory that a class or array is pointing to? Does everything still work if those pointers get reassigned somehow to other objects of the same size/type on the heap? What if a class has a pointer member that points to another object? I am assuming that delete/freeing the class object doesn't free what it's member pointer points to, is that correct? Thanks all! -R

  Here's the basic schema for my database Table user{ userid numeber primary key, count number } Table player{ pid number primary key, } Table user-player{ userid number primary key foreign key(user), pid number primary key foreign key(player) } Table temp{ pid number primary key, points number } Here's what I intend to do... After every match the temp table is updated which holds the id of players that played the last match and the points they earned. Next run a procedure that will match the pid from temp table with every uid of user-player table having the same pid. add the points from temp table to the count of user table for every matching uid. empty temp table. My questions is considering 200 players and 10000 users,Will this method be efficient? I am going to be using mysql for this.

• Why is this postgresql query so slow?

  I'm no database expert, but I have enough knowledge to get myself into trouble, as is the case here. This query SELECT DISTINCT p.* FROM points p, areas a, contacts c WHERE ( p.latitude > 43.6511659465 AND p.latitude < 43.6711659465 AND p.longitude > -79.4677941889 AND p.longitude < -79.4477941889) AND p.resource_type = 'Contact' AND c.user_id = 6 is extremely slow. The points table has fewer than 2000 records, but it takes about 8 seconds to execute. There are indexes on the latitude and longitude columns. Removing the clause concering the resource_type and user_id make no difference. The latitude and longitude fields are both formatted as number(15,10) -- I need the precision for some calculations. There are many, many other queries in this project where points are compared, but no execution time problems. What's going on?

  In my application I have quite some void-pointers (this is because of historical reasons, application was originally written in pure C). In one of my modules I know that the void-pointers points to instances of classes that could inherit from a known base class, but I cannot be 100% sure of it. Therefore, doing a dynamic_cast on the void-pointer might give problems. Possibly, the void-pointer even points to a plain-struct (so no vptr in the struct). I would like to investigate the first 4 bytes of the memory the void-pointer is pointing to, to see if this is the address of the valid vtable. I know this is platform, maybe even compiler-version-specific, but it could help me in moving the application forward, and getting rid of all the void-pointers over a limited time period (let's say 3 years). Is there a way to get a list of all vtables in the application, or a way to check whether a pointer points to a valid vtable, and whether that instance pointing to the vtable inherits from a known base class?

  This question is related to: How do I determine the intersection point of two lines in GDI+? (great explanation of algebra but no code) How do you detect where two line segments intersect? (accepted answer doesn't actually work) But note that an interesting sub-problem is completely glossed over in most solutions which just return null for the coincident case even though there are three sub-cases: coincident but do not overlap touching just points and coincident overlap/coincident line sub-segment For example we could design a C# function like this: public static PointF[] Intersection(PointF a1, PointF a2, PointF b1, PointF b2) where (a1,a2) is one line segment and (b1,b2) is another. This function would need to cover all the weird cases that most implementations or explanations gloss over. In order to account for the weirdness of coincident lines, the function could return an array of PointF's: zero result points (or null) if the lines are parallel or do not intersect (infinite lines intersect but line segments are disjoint, or lines are parallel) one result point (containing the intersection location) if they do intersect or if they are coincident at one point two result points (for the overlapping part of the line segments) if the two lines are coincident

  My android application loads some markers on an overlay onto a MapView. The markers are placed based on a dynamic list of GeoPoints. I want to move the map center and zoom into the area with most items. Naively, I can calculate the superposition of all the points, but I would like to remove the points that are very far from the mass of points from the calculation. Is there a known way to calculate this ? (e.g. probability, statistics .. ?)

  Hi, I measure the load on DNS servers every minute and store that into an SQL DB. I want to draw a chart of the load for the last 48 hours. That's 69120 (48*24*60) data points but my chart's only 800 pixels wide so to make things faster I would like my SQL query to return only ~800 data points. It's seems to me like a pretty standard thing to do, but I've been searching the web and in books for such a thing for a while now and the closest I was able to find was a rolling average. What I'm looking for a more of a "segmented average": divide the 69120 data points in ~800 segments, then average each segment. My SQL table is: CREATE TABLE measurements ( ip int, measurement_time int, queries int, query_time float ) My query looks like this SELECT ip, queries FROM measurements WHERE measurement_time>(time()-172800) Thanks a lot!

  I am working on android geolocation application in that I have added marker for current location and want to add markers for other geopoints also. I have created objects of OverlayItem for other points and adding it to ItemizedOverlay like itemizedOverlay.addOverlay(overlayItem) and then adding it to mapOverlay.add(itemizedOverlay). For the current location geopoints getting from "Location" object and other points are hard-coded values.   Hi I am trying to create simple application that would be able to search people on facebook using given e-mail. I am already able to log into an account using the HTMLunit tool and even create a page, which should throw result of my search. But when I try to print the result as XML the file is missing some blocks of javascript results (I can tell that they are missing by comparing file created by my application and source code, that can be viewed by using IE) Is there any way around this? • Windows-1251 file inside UTF-8 site?

  Hello everyone Masters Of Web Delevopment :) I have a piece of PHP script that fetches last 10 played songs from my winamp. This script is inside file (lets call it "lastplayed.php") which is included in my site with php include function inside a "div". My site is on UTF-8 encoding. The problem is that some songs titles are in Windows-1251 encoding. And in my site they displays like "??????"... Is there any known way to tell to this div with included "lastplayed.php" in it, to be with windows-1251 encoding? Or any other suggestions? P.S: The file with fetching script a.k.a. "lastplayed.php", is converted to UTF-8. But if it is ANCII it's the same result. I try to put and meta tag with windows-1251 between head tag but nothing happens again.   Hey! I've got a quick question about the jQuery UI DatePicker. When I load the page, defaultDate: 0 will work fine with selecting the current day's date. I would like to create a 'fake' click on the date so it will execute my JavaScript function and retrieve information from the database.
