  • Why I cannot get correct class of a custom class through isKindOfClass?

    - by Anthony Chan
    Hi, I've created a custom class AnimalView which is a subclass of UIView containing a UILabel and a UIImageView. @interface AnimalView : UIView { UILabel *nameLabel; UIImageView *picture; } Then I added in several AnimalView onto the ViewController.view. In the touchesBegan:withEvent: method, I wanted to detect if the touched object is an AnimalView or not. Here is the code for the viewController: @implementation AppViewController - (void)viewDidLoad { UIScrollView *scrollView = [[UIScrollView alloc] initWithFrame:... [self.view addSubview scrollview]; for (int i = 0; i<10; i++) { AnimalView *newAnimal = [[AnimalView alloc] init]; // customization of newAnimal [scrollview addSubview:newAnimal; } } - (void)touchesBegan:(NSSet *)touches withEvent:(UIEvent *)event { UITouch *touch = [touches anyObject]; UIView *hitView = touch.view; if ([hitView isKindOfClass:[AnimalView class]]) { AnimalView *animal = (AnimalView *)hitView; [animal doSomething]; } } However, nothing happened when I clicked on the animal. When I checked the class of hitView by NSLog(@"%@", [hitView class]), it always shows UIView instead of AnimalView. Is it true that the AnimalView changed to a UIView when it is added onto the ViewController? Is there any way I can get back the original class of a custom class?

  • Am I deleting this properly?

    - by atch
    I have some struct: struct A { const char* name_; A* left_; A* right_; A(const char* name):name_(name), left_(nullptr), right_(nullptr){} A(const A&); //A(const A*);//ToDo A& operator=(const A&); ~A() { /*ToDo*/ }; }; /*Just to compile*/ A& A::operator=(const A& pattern) { //check for self-assignment if (this != &pattern) { void* p = new char[sizeof(A)]; } return *this; } A::A(const A& pat) { void* p = new char[sizeof(A)]; A* tmp = new (p) A("tmp"); tmp->~A(); delete tmp;//I WONDER IF HERE I SHOULD USE DIFFERENT delete[]? } int _tmain(int argc, _TCHAR* argv[]) { A a("a"); A b = a; cin.get(); return 0; } Guys I know this is far from ideal and far from finished. But please don't tell me the answer how to do it properly. I'm trying to figure it out myself. The only think I would like to know if I'm deleting my memory in proper way. Thanks.

  • Java 1.4 singleton containing a mutable field

    - by Philippe
    Hi, I'm working on a legacy Java 1.4 project, and I have a factory that instantiates a csv file parser as a singleton. In my csv file parser, however, I have a HashSet that will store objects created from each line of my CSV file. All that will be used by a web application, and users will be uploading CSV files, possibly concurrently. Now my question is : what is the best way to prevent my list of objects to be modified by 2 users ? So far, I'm doing the following : final class MyParser { private File csvFile = null; private static Set myObjects = Collections.synchronizedSet(new HashSet); public synchronized void setFile(File file) { this.csvFile = file; } public void parse() FileReader fr = null; try { fr = new FileReader(csvFile); synchronized(myObjects) { myObjects.clear(); while(...) { // foreach line of my CSV, create a "MyObject" myObjects.add(new MyObject(...)); } } } catch (Exception e) { //... } } } Should I leave the lock only on the myObjects Set, or should I declare the whole parse() method as synchronized ? Also, how should I synchronize - both - the setting of the csvFile and the parsing ? I feel like my actual design is broken because threads could modify the csv file several times while a possibly long parse process is running. I hope I'm being clear enough, because myself am a bit confused on those multi-synchronization issues. Thanks ;-)

  • Objective-C Protocols within Protocols

    - by LucasTizma
    I recently began trying my hand at using protocols in my Objective-C development as an (obvious) means of delegating tasks more appropriately among my classes. I completely understand the basic notion of protocols and how they work. However, I came across a roadblock when trying to create a custom protocol that in turn implements another protocol. I since discovered the solution, but I am curious why the following DOES NOT work: @protocol STPickerViewDelegate < UIPickerViewDelegate > - ( void )customCallback; @end @interface STPickerView : UIPickerView { id < STPickerViewDelegate > delegate; } @property ( nonatomic, assign ) id < STPickerViewDelegate > delegate; @end Then in a view controller, which conforms to STPickerViewDelegate: STPickerView * pickerView = [ [ STPickerView alloc ] init ]; pickerView.delegate = self; - ( void )customCallback { ... } - ( NSString * )pickerView:( UIPickerView * )pickerView titleForRow:( NSInteger )row forComponent:( NSInteger )component { ... } The problem was that pickerView:titleForRow:forComponent: was never being called. On the other hand, customCallback was being called just fine, which isn't too surprising. I don't understand why STPickerViewDelegate, which itself conforms to UIPickerViewDelegate, does not notify my view controller when events from UIPickerViewDelegate are supposed to occur. Per my understanding of Apple's documentation, if a protocol (A) itself conforms to another protocol (B), then a class (C) that conforms to the first protocol (A) must also conform to the second protocol (B), which is exactly the behavior I want and expected. What I ended up doing was removing the id< STPickerViewDelegate > delegate property from STViewPicker and instead doing something like the following in my STViewPicker implementation where I want to evoke customCallback: if ( [ self.delegate respondsToSelector:@selector( customCallback ) ] ) { [ self.delegate performSelector:@selector( customCallback ) ]; } This works just fine, but I really am puzzled as to why my original approach did not work.

  • Binding to WPF ViewModel properties

    - by MartinHN
    I'm just playing around with WPF and MVVM, and I have made a simple app that displays a Rectangle that changes color whenever Network availability changes. But when that happens, I get this error: Cannot use a DependencyObject that belongs to a different thread than its parent Freezable. Code XAML <Window x:Class="WpfApplication1.Window1" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml" Title="Window1" Height="400" Width="600"> <DockPanel LastChildFill="True"> <Rectangle x:Name="networkStatusRectangle" Width="200" Height="200" Fill="{Binding NetworkStatusColor}" /> </DockPanel> </Window> Code-behind using System.Windows; using WpfApplication1.ViewModels; namespace WpfApplication1 { /// <summary> /// Interaction logic for Window1.xaml /// </summary> public partial class Window1 : Window { public Window1() { InitializeComponent(); DataContext = new NetworkViewModel(); } } } ViewModel using System.ComponentModel; using System.Net.NetworkInformation; using System.Windows.Media; namespace WpfApplication1.ViewModels { public class NetworkViewModel : INotifyPropertyChanged { private Brush _NetworkStatusColor; public Brush NetworkStatusColor { get { return _NetworkStatusColor; } set { _NetworkStatusColor = value; NotifyOfPropertyChange("NetworkStatusColor"); } } public NetworkViewModel() { NetworkChange.NetworkAvailabilityChanged += new NetworkAvailabilityChangedEventHandler(NetworkChange_NetworkAvailabilityChanged); } protected void NetworkChange_NetworkAvailabilityChanged(object sender, NetworkAvailabilityEventArgs e) { if (e.IsAvailable) { this.NetworkStatusColor = new SolidColorBrush(Colors.Green); } else { this.NetworkStatusColor = new SolidColorBrush(Colors.Red); } } public event PropertyChangedEventHandler PropertyChanged = delegate { }; public void NotifyOfPropertyChange(string propertyName) { PropertyChanged(this, new PropertyChangedEventArgs(propertyName)); } } } I assume that I should change the NetworkStatusColor property by invoking something?

  • Combine Text with a Draggable Mask AS3.0

    - by RC
    So I have an image that is the size of the stage: img_mc. Then I drew a small rectangle: mask_mc. The idea is to make a "window" of the small rectangle, view img_mc through the window, and be able to drag the window around. The following code works fine but I want to add text to the mask - "Drag Me!" or whatever. But if I group text with the mask it breaks down. If I make a separate text_mc I can drag it around but it's not part of the mask. How can I combine text with a mask? (sorry if this question is pathetically easy!) Thanks for any thoughts you can share! img_mc.mask = mask_mc; mask_mc.buttonMode = true; img_mc.cacheAsBitmap = true; //because I blurred the mask text_mc.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_DOWN, dragF); mask_mc.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_DOWN, dragF); stage.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_UP, dropF); function dragF(event:MouseEvent):void{ mask_mc.startDrag(); } function dropF(event:MouseEvent):void{ mask_mc.stopDrag(); }

  • SmtpClient.SendAsync - How to ensure my application doesn't finish before callback?

    - by James
    Hi, I need to send emails asychronously through a console application. I need to do some DB updates on the callback but my application is exiting before the callback code gets run! How can I stop this from happening in a nice manner rather than simply guessing how long to wait before exiting. I would imagine the Async calls get placed in some form of thread? Is it possible to check if any are waiting to be called? Sample Code private static void SendCompletedCallback(object sender, AsyncCompletedEventArgs e) { // Get the unique identifier for this asynchronous operation. String token = (string) e.UserState; if (e.Cancelled) { Console.WriteLine("[{0}] Send canceled.", token); } if (e.Error != null) { Console.WriteLine("[{0}] {1}", token, e.Error.ToString()); } else { // update DB Console.WriteLine("Message sent."); } } public static void Main(string[] args) { var users = Repository.GetUsers(); SmtpClient client = new SmtpClient("Host"); client.SendCompleted += new SendCompletedEventHandler(SendCompletedCallback); MailAddress from = new MailAddress("[email protected]", "System", Encoding.UTF8); foreach (var user in users) { MailAddress to = new MailAddress(user.Email); MailMessage message = new MailMessage(from, to); message.Body = "This is a test"; message.BodyEncoding = System.Text.Encoding.UTF8; message.Subject = "test message 1" + someArrows; message.SubjectEncoding = System.Text.Encoding.UTF8; string userState = String.Format("Message for user id {0}", user.ID); client.SendAsync(message, userState); message.Dispose(); } // need to wait here until I have received a callback for each message // otherwise the application will exit }

  • NoSuchMethodError in Java using XStream

    - by Brad Germain
    I'm trying to save a database into a file using XStream and then open it again later using XStream and deserialize it back into the objects it was in previously. The database consists of an arraylist of tables, which consists of an arraylist of a data class where the data class contains an arraylist of objects. I'm basically trying to create an sql compiler. I'm currently getting a java.lang.NoSuchMethodError because of the last line in the load method. Here's what I have: Save Method public void save(Database DB){ File file = new File(DB.getName().toUpperCase() + ".xml"); //Test sample DB.createTable("TBL1(character(a));"); DB.tables.getTable("TBL1").rows.add(new DataList()); DB.tables.getTable("TBL1").rows.getRow(0).add(10); XStream xstream = new XStream(); //Database xstream.alias("Database", Database.class); //Tables xstream.alias("Table", Table.class); //Rows xstream.alias("Row", DataList.class); //Data //xstream.alias("Data", Object.class); //String xml = xstream.toXML(DB); Writer writer = null; try { writer = new FileWriter(file); writer.write(xstream.toXML(DB)); writer.close(); } catch (IOException e) { e.printStackTrace(); } } Load Method public void Load(String dbName){ XStream xstream = new XStream(); BufferedReader br; StringBuffer buff = null; try { br = new BufferedReader(new FileReader(dbName + ".xml")); buff = new StringBuffer(); String line; while((line = br.readLine()) != null){ buff.append(line); } } catch (FileNotFoundException e) { e.printStackTrace(); } catch (IOException e) { e.printStackTrace(); } database = (Database)xstream.fromXML(buff.toString()); }

  • WPF Combobox Updates list but not the selected item

    - by JoshReedSchramm
    I have a combo box on a WPF form. On this form the user selects a record from the combo box which populates the rest of the fields on the form so the user can update that record. When they click save I am re-retrieving the combo box source which updates the combo box list. The problem is the selected item keeps the original label even though the data behind it is different. When you expand the combo box the selected item shows the right label. I am using a command binding mechanism. Here is some of the relevant code. private void SaveSalesRep() { BindFromView(); if (_salesRep.Id == 0) SalesRepRepository.AddAndSave(_salesRep); else SalesRepRepository.DataContext.SaveChanges(); int originalId = _salesRep.Id; InitSalesRepDropDown(); SalesRepSelItem = ((List<SalesRep>) SalesRepItems.SourceCollection).Find(x => x.Id == originalId); } private void InitSalesRepDropDown() { var salesRepRepository = IoC.GetRepository<ISalesRepRepository>(); IEnumerable<SalesRep> salesReps = salesRepRepository.GetAll(); _salesRepItems = new CollectionView(salesReps); NotifyPropertyChanged("SalesRepItems"); SalesRepSelItem = SalesRepItems.GetItemAt(0) as SalesRep; } The Selected Item property on the combo box is bound to SalesRepSelItem Property and the ItemsSource is bound to SalesRepItems which is backed by _salesRepItems. THe SalesRepSelItem property called NotifyPropertyChanges("SalesRepSelItem") which raises a PropertyChanged event. All told the binding of new items seems to work and the list updates, but the label on the selected item doesnt. Any ideas? Thanks all.

  • This 404 seems unavoidable - what am I doing wrong? [Ninject 2.0 with ASP.NET MVC 2 on .NET 4]

    - by Tomas Lycken
    I downloaded the fairly new Ninject 2.0 and Ninject.Web.Mvc (targeting mvc2) sources today, and successfully built them against .NET 4 (release configuration). When trying to run an application using Ninject 2.0, i keep getting 404 errors and I can't figure out why. This is my global.asax.cs (slightly shortified, for brevity): using ... using Ninject; using Ninject.Web.Mvc; using Ninject.Modules; namespace Booking.Web { public class MvcApplication : NinjectHttpApplication { protected override void OnApplicationStarted() { Booking.Models.AutoMapperBootstrapper.Initialize(); RegisterAllControllersIn(Assembly.GetExecutingAssembly()); base.OnApplicationStarted(); } protected void RegisterRoutes(RouteCollection routes) { ... routes.MapRoute( "Default", "{controller}/{action}/{id}", new { controller = "Entry", action = "Index", id = "" } ); } protected override IKernel CreateKernel() { INinjectModule[] mods = new INinjectModule[] {...}; return new StandardKernel(mods); } } } The EntryController exists, and has an Index method that simply does a return View(). I have debugged, and verified that the call to RegisterAllControllersIn() is executed. I have also tried to use Phil Haacks Routing debugger but I still get a 404. What do I do to find the cause of this?

  • Setting nested object to null when combobox has empty value

    - by Javi
    Hello, I have a Class which models a User and another which models his country. Something like this: public class User{ private Country country; //other attributes and getter/setters } public class Country{ private Integer id; private String name; //other attributes and getter/setters } I have a Spring form where I have a combobox so the user can select his country or can select the undefined option to indicate he doen't want to provide this information. So I have something like this: <form:select path="country"> <form:option value="">-Select one-</form:option> <form:options items="${countries}" itemLabel="name" itemValue="id"/> </form:select> In my controller I get the autopopulated object with the user information and I want to have country set to null when the "-Select one-" option has been selected. So I have set a initBinder with a custom editor like this: @InitBinder protected void initBinder(WebDataBinder binder) throws ServletException { binder.registerCustomEditor(Country.class, "country", new CustomCountryEditor()); } and my editor do something like this: public class CustomCountryEditor(){ @Override public String getAsText() { //I return the Id of the country } @Override public void setAsText(String str) { //I search in the database for a country with id = new Integer(str) //and set country to that value //or I set country to null in case str == null } } When I submit the form it works because when I have country set to null when I have selected "-Select one-" option or the instance of the country selected. The problem is that when I load the form I have a method like the following one to load the user information. @ModelAttribute("user") public User getUser(){ //loads user from database } The object I get from getUser() has country set to a specific country (not a null value), but in the combobox is not selected any option. I've debugged the application and the CustomCountryEditor works good when setting and getting the text, thoughgetAsText method is called for every item in the list "countries" not only for the "country" field. Any idea? Is there a better way to set null the country object when I select no country option in the combobox? Thanks

  • LWUIT Deadlock (lwuit dialog VS System dialog)

    - by Ramps
    Hi, I have a deadlock problem when I try to make some I/O operations that needs user permission. When user click the button I start a new thread which is responsible for performing IO operations, and I display lwuit "please wait" dialog. Dialog is dismissed by IO thread from callback method. Problem is that, when system dialog appears (asking for user permission ) on top of lwuit dialog - deadlock occurs. I assume that this is because dialog.show() method blocks main thread (EDT), so it's impossible to dismiss system dialog, when lwuit dialog is behind it. Anyone managed to solve this problem? Here is the simplified code, hope it is clear enough: protected void actionPerformed(ActionEvent evt, int id) { switch (id) { case ID_FRIEND: MyRunnableWithIoOperation r = new MyRunnableWithIoOperation(this); new Thread(r).start(); //run the thread performing IO operations Command cmd = mWaitDialog.showDialog(); // show the "please wait" dialog ...//handle cancel }//end switch } /* method called from MyRunnableWithIoOperation, when operation finished*/ public void myCallbackMethod(){ mWaitDialog.dispose(); // } I tried to start my IO thread by calling Display.getInstance().invokeAndBlock( r ), but with no luck. In such case, my "wait dialog" doesn't show up.

  • Having trouble with extension methods for byte arrays

    - by Dave
    I'm working with a device that sends back an image, and when I request an image, there is some undocumented information that comes before the image data. I was only able to realize this by looking through the binary data and identifying the image header information inside. I've been able to make everything work fine by writing a method that takes a byte[] and returns another byte[] with all of this preamble "stuff" removed. However, what I really want is an extension method so I can write image_buffer.RemoveUpToByteArray(new byte[] { 0x42, 0x4D }); instead of byte[] new_buffer = RemoveUpToByteArray( image_buffer, new byte[] { 0x42, 0x4D }); I first tried to write it like everywhere else I've seen online: public static class MyExtensionMethods { public static void RemoveUpToByteArray(this byte[] buffer, byte[] header) { ... } } but then I get an error complaining that there isn't an extension method where the first parameter is a System.Array. Weird, everyone else seems to do it this way, but okay: public static class MyExtensionMethods { public static void RemoveUpToByteArray(this Array buffer, byte[] header) { ... } } Great, that takes now, but still doesn't compile. It doesn't compile because Array is an abstract class and my existing code that gets called after calling RemoveUpToByteArray used to work on byte arrays. I could rewrite my subsequent code to work with Array, but I am curious -- what am I doing wrong that prevents me from just using byte[] as the first parameter in my extension method?

  • C# Windows Service

    - by Goober
    Scenario I've created a windows service, but whenever I start it, it stops immediately. The service was concieved from a console application that used to subscribe to an event and watch processes on a server. If anything happened to process (i.e. It was killed), then the event would trigger the process to be restarted. The reason I'm telling you this is because the original code used to look like this: Original Console App Code: static void Main(string[] args) { StartProcess sp = new StartProcess(); //Note the readline that means the application sits here waiting for an event! Console.ReadLine(); } Now that this code has been turned into a Windows Service, it is essentially EXACTLY THE SAME. However, the service does not sit there waiting, even with the readline, it just ends..... New Windows Service Code: protected override void OnStart(string[] args) { ProcessMonitor pm = new ProcessMonitor(); Console.ReadLine(); } Thoughts Since the functionality is entirely encapsulated within this single class (It quite literally starts, sets up some events and waits) - How can I get the service to actually sit there and just wait? It seems to be ignoring the readline. However this works perfectly as a console application, it is just far more convenient to have it as a service.

  • Spinner in Android crashing when visibilty changes while handling OnClick in a button

    - by Dave George
    I have a spinner in UI, which I want to hide when I handle onClick method for a button. But the application is crashing all the time. Is it that I can't use the setVisibility(View.Gone) on spinners (it is not written anywhere). If I comment it out, then application run fine. I have this simple Lucene search code (Modified from http://www.lucenetutorial.com/lucene-in-5-minutes.html) class Program { static void Main(string[] args) { StandardAnalyzer analyzer = new StandardAnalyzer(); Directory index = new RAMDirectory(); IndexWriter w = new IndexWriter(index, analyzer, true, IndexWriter.MaxFieldLength.UNLIMITED); addDoc(w, "Table 1 <table> content </table>"); addDoc(w, "Table 2"); addDoc(w, "<table> content </table>"); addDoc(w, "The Art of Computer Science"); w.Close(); String querystr = "table"; Query q = new QueryParser("title", analyzer).Parse(querystr); Lucene.Net.Search.IndexSearcher searcher = new Lucene.Net.Search.IndexSearcher(index); Hits hitsFound = searcher.Search(q); SimpleHTMLFormatter formatter = new SimpleHTMLFormatter("*", "*"); Highlighter highlighter = null; highlighter = new Highlighter(formatter, new QueryScorer(searcher.Rewrite(q))); for (int i = 0; i < hitsFound.Length(); i++) { Console.WriteLine(highlighter.GetBestFragment(analyzer, "title", hitsFound.Doc(i).Get("title"))); // Console.WriteLine(hitsFound.Doc(i).Get("title")); } Console.ReadKey(); } private static void addDoc(IndexWriter w, String value) { Document doc = new Document(); doc.Add(new Field("title", value, Field.Store.YES, Field.Index.ANALYZED)); w.AddDocument(doc); } } The highlighted results always seem to skip the closing '' of my last table tag. Any suggestions?

  • iPhone: UIImagePickerController Randomly Fails to Take Picture

    - by pion
    I use a UIPickerViewController to take picture. It works 80% but seemingly at random it fails to take a picture. In tracing the code I found out that it occasionally goes to -PinRecordNewTableViewController:viewDidUnload. That is where it fails because it set nil to all ivars. @interface PinRecordNewTableViewController : UITableViewController { } ... @implementation PinRecordNewTableViewController ... - (void)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView didSelectRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { ... PinRecordNewPicture *pinRecordNewPicture = [[PinRecordNewPicture alloc] initWithNibName:@"PinRecordNewPicture" bundle:nil]; pinRecordNewPicture.delegate = self; [self.navigationController pushViewController:pinRecordNewPicture animated:YES]; [pinRecordNewPicture release]; ... } @interface PinRecordNewPicture : UIViewController ... @implementation PinRecordNewPicture ... - (void)picturePicker:(UIImagePickerControllerSourceType)theSource { UIImagePickerController *picker = [[UIImagePickerController alloc] init]; picker.delegate = self; picker.sourceType = theSource; picker.allowsEditing = YES; [self presentModalViewController:picker animated:YES]; [picker release]; } - (IBAction) takePicture:(id)sender { UIImagePickerControllerSourceType source = UIImagePickerControllerSourceTypeCamera; if ([UIImagePickerController isSourceTypeAvailable:source]) { [self picturePicker:source]; } What did I do wrong? Did I miss something that causes it to behave "randomly"? Thanks in advance for your help.

  • presentModalViewController does not want to work when called from a protocol method

    - by johnbdh
    I have a subview that when double tapped a protocol method on the subview's parent view controller is called like this... - (void)touchesEnded:(NSSet *)touches withEvent:(UIEvent *)event { UITouch *theTouch = [touches anyObject]; if (theTouch.tapCount == 1) { } else if (theTouch.tapCount == 2) { if ([self.delegate respondsToSelector:@selector(editEvent:)]) { [self.delegate editEvent:dictionary]; } } } Here is the protocol method with the dictionary consuming code removed... - (void)editEvent:(NSDictionary){ EventEditViewController *eventEditViewController = [[EventEditViewController alloc] initWithNibName:@"EventEditViewController" bundle:nil]; eventEditViewController.delegate = self; navigationController = [[UINavigationController alloc] initWithRootViewController:eventEditViewController]; [self presentModalViewController:navigationController animated:YES]; [eventEditViewController release]; } The protocol method is called and runs without any errors but the modal view does not present itself. I temporarily copied the protocol method's code to an IBAction method for one of the parent's view button's to isolate it from the subview. When I tap this button the modal view works fine. Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong? Why does it work when executed from a button on the parent view, and not from a protocol method called from a subview. Here is what I have tried so far to work around the problem... Restarted xCode and the simulator Ran on the device (iTouch) Presenting eventEditViewController instead of navigationController Using Push instead of presentModal. delaying the call to the protocol with performSelector directly to the protocol, to another method in the subview which calls the protocol method, from the protocol method to another method with the presentModal calls. Using a timer. I have it currently setup so that the protocol method calls a known working method that presents a different view. Before calling presentModalViewController it pops a UIAlertView which works every time, but the modal view refuses to display when called via the protocol method. I'm stumped. Perhaps it has something to do with the fact that I am calling the protocol method from a UIView class instead of a UIViewController class. Maybe I need to create a UIViewController for the subView?? Thanks, John

  • Clearing canvas with Canvas.drawColor()

    - by strangeInAStrangerLand
    I'm attempting to change the background image of a custom View with some success. The image will change but the problem is that I still see traces of the old image. When I attempt to clear the canvas before drawing the new image, it doesn't appear to work. I create a bitmap to store the image. When changing the image, I call Canvas.drawColor() before drawing the new image but the old image persists. I've tried drawColor(0), drawColor(Color.BLACK), c.drawColor(0, PorterDuff.Mode.CLEAR), and none of the above works. As such, I had to post this for review from more experienced minds than mine. The actual code is as follows: private int bgnd; private boolean switching; public void setBgnd(int incoming){ switching = true; switch (incoming){ case R.drawable.image1: bgnd = incoming; this.invalidate(); break; case R.drawable.image2: bgnd = incoming; this.invalidate(); break; } } protected void onDraw(Canvas c){ if(switching == true){ Bitmap b = BitmapFactory.decodeResource(getResources(), bgnd); c.drawColor(0, PorterDuff.Mode.CLEAR); c.drawBitmap(b, 0, 0, null); switching = false; }else{ Bitmap b = BitmapFactory.decodeResource(getResources(), bgnd); c.drawBitmap(b, 0, 0, null); } }

  • Inconsistency in passing objects from VBA to .NET via COM

    - by Akash
    I have the following interface defined to expose a .NET class to COM: [InterfaceType(ComInterfaceType.InterfaceIsDual)] [Guid("6A983BCC-5C83-4b30-8400-690763939659")] [ComVisible(true)] public interface IComClass { object Value { get; set; } object GetValue(); void SetValue(object value); } The implementation of this interface is trivial: [ClassInterface(ClassInterfaceType.None)] [Guid("66D0490F-718A-4722-8425-606A6C999B82")] [ComVisible(true)] public class ComClass : IComClass { private object _value = 123.456; public object Value { get { return this._value; } set { this._value = value; } } public object GetValue() { return this._value; } public void SetValue(object value) { this._value = value; } } I have then registered this using RegAsm, and tried to call it from Excel via the following code: Public Sub ComInterop() Dim cc As ComClass Set cc = New ComClass cc.SetValue (555.555) valueByGetter = cc.GetValue valueByProperty = cc.Value cc.Value = 555.555 End Sub When I step throught this code, valueByGetter = 555.5555 and valueByProperty = 555.555 as expected. However, I get an "Object required" runtime error on the final line. Why does setting the value via the setter method work but setting via the property fail? What do I have to change to get the property to work as expected?

  • How do I check if output stream of a socket is closed?

    - by Roman
    I have this code: public void post(String message) { output.close(); final String mess = message; (new Thread() { public void run() { while (true) { try { output.println(mess); System.out.println("The following message was successfully sent:"); System.out.println(mess); break; } catch (NullPointerException e) { try {Thread.sleep(1000);} catch (InterruptedException ie) {} } } } }).start(); } As you can see I close the socket in the very beginning of the code and then try to use it to send some information to another computer. The program writes me "The following message was successfully sent". It means that the NullPointerException was not thrown. So, does Java throw no exception if it tries to use a closed output stream of a socket? Is there a way to check if a socket is closed or opened? ADDED I initialize the socket in the following way: clientSideSocket = new Socket(hostname,port); PrintWriter out = new PrintWriter(clientSideSocket.getOutputStream(), true); browser.output = out;
