  • Looking for WebAii Framework free edition online - before the Telerik merge

    Art of Test produced a nice UI testing tool for free -- WebAii Framework-- that I've been using to add client-side DOM unit tests to my projects. Recently they merged with Telerik and it's now a commercial product. From free to $1500 is suddenly very expensive. Does anybody know if the community edition is still available, or even the last free version is available for download? At least I can finish off with that.

  • How to store coordinates in a database

    Hello all! I have a Flex GUI where I have to place quadrate elements. The position of these elements need to be stored into a database. So I can create two integer fields in the db table x and y. Also I need an angle, because the user can rotate these elements, so I can also make a int (int is okay, I do not need a double value therefore). As a ORM, I use Hibernate. But the question is, if creating three integer fields is the best way to handle this. Perhaps someone can tell me if this will be okay or if there are better ways?     I'm trying to write a process that would read data from a database and upload it onto a cloud datastore. How can I decide the partition strategy of the data? I want to query the table in chunks and process each chunk in 10 threads. Each thread basically will send the data to an individual node on a 10 node cluster on the cloud..   • .net c# datagridview populating with non database data/setup

    Hi, I have never used the datagridview in any other scenario other than one where it is populating by a database so suddenly my mind goes blank... I have 10 tubes, each with 8 vertical positions within it, so I have a 10 by 8 grid basically. Each has of those slots has (or not) an image in a folder. How do I get a datagridview to reflect this information, draw a grid, check the folder and if the image exists paint it white, and if not paint it red? Sorry it if sounds a little odd, thanks, R.

    I am working on an in-house, iOS app that will need read-only access to a SQL Server with multiple databases. I know the stock answer here is "write some web services", but I'd like a solution that is self-contained. Is there any way to directly connect to a SQL Server database from an iOS application? I'm thinking something like a basic ODBC connection. I've seen a lot of users asking this question, but very few answers other than "write a web service." Is that really the only way?

    Does anyone know of a stand-alone tool for C# code cleaning/auditing that can run outside of Visual Studio IDE so as to be part of a build. Or if that isn't possible can someone provide some guidance as to how to make Visual Studio part of a build process -- by that I mean it would be nice to run the IDE's Sort and Remove unused using statements on all files as part of the build, but even better would be an exe that can read the .sln, or .csproj and do the job as part of build system. Meaning, while one part (writer) maybe inserting, updating information to a database, the other part (reader) is reading off and acting on that information. Now, i wish to trigger an action event in the reader and reload information from the DB whenever i insert something from the writer. Is there a simple way about this?   • Load big XML files to mySQL database (PHP)

    Hello There, For a new project I need to load big XML files (200MB+) to a mySQL database. There are +- 20 feeds i need to match with that (not all fields are the same). Now when i want to catch the XML I get this error: Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 134217728 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 171296569 bytes) in E:\UsbWebserver\Root\****\application\libraries\MY_xml.php on line 21 Is there an easy solution for this? It's not possible to get te feed in parts of a few MB's each. Thank you very much! P.s. has somebody an idea to match xml-feeds easy?

    I'm trying to make an application using spring 3.0. Now I've decided to try my hand at spring-security and hibernate. I've already seen that it's possible to back it with a databasem and I've seen a reference to defining your own queries? Now the problem I have is that the tutorials I've been finding aren't too clear and that they assume that a user can only have one role. I want to give some users multiple roles. So I was thinking about a database scheme along the lines of: User: user_id username password registrationDate User_Role: user_id role_id Role: role_id rolename Now I was wondering if anyone had some pointers to some usefull tutorials/advice/comments.

  • Php security question

    I have a linux server, and I am about to upload a classifieds website to it. The website is php based. That means php code adds/removes classifieds, with the help of the users offcourse. The php-code then adds/removes a classified to a database index called Solr (like MySql). Problem is that anybody can currently access the database, but I only want the website to access the database (solr). Solr is on port 8983 as standard btw. My Q is, if I add a rule in my firewall (iptables), to only allow connections coming from the servers IP to the Solr port nr, would this solve my issue? Thanks

    Is there any particular way in which we can access the Web SQL Database of one page, by other page. To make it more clear, suppose a.com creates the database DB and store some info. Now b.com comes and want to access the same database DB. Is there a way? Or are there any alternatives to do this? I tried to implement in HTML5 and Javascript but the databases as well as the localStorages are confining only to particular pages, I want this to be cross the pages.

  • What do you wish you could've learned sooner?

    What things, methods, workflows, etc. can you not live without today and wish you had learned of a long time ago? For example, learning some basic Ubuntu and using my debugger properly in the IDE have made a huge difference to me and are together probably the two things that I most wish I had done a long time ago. Using a debugger just seems like common sense now to many of us, but to those that are in a early stage of their career it might not. (I'm a good example of that.)

  • SQL Server 2008 database timeout after delete

    I'm running the following statement, it is working locally with SQL Server 2008, however, there is SQL Server 2008 Express on the development server, and after the sql statement runs, I am unable to do SELECT statements on the table in which I deleted the record. Both databases were created with the same table creation scripts. "DELETE FROM [dbo].[tblMiddayMover] WITH (ROWLOCK) WHERE [idMiddayMover] = @IdMiddayMover" What reasons would this statement ever cause the database to hang. After executing that statement, the following SELECT statement causes an error. "SELECT * FROM [dbo].[tblMiddayMover] WHERE [fldActive] = 1" I get the following error: Timeout expired. The timeout period elapsed prior to completion of the operation or the server is not responding. I can do select statements on any other table with no issues.

    I'm looking for a way to easily read in a C# file and place it into a Java Object for database storage (storing the class name, functions, variables, etc). I'm making a Hierarchical State Machine AI Building Tool for a game I'm creating and need to be able to import an existing C# file and store it in a database for retrieval in the future.     I'm considering how to do automatic bug tracking and as part of that I'm wondering what is available to match source code line numbers (or more accurate numbers mapped from instruction pointers via something like addr2line) in one version of a program to the same line in another. (Assume everything is in some kind of source control and is available to my code) The simplest approach would be to use a diff tool/lib on the files and do some math on the line number spans, however this has some limitations: It doesn't handle cross file motion. It might not play well with lines that get changed It doesn't look at the information available in the intermediate versions. It provides no way to manually patch up lines when the diff tool gets things wrong. It's kinda clunky Before I start diving into developing something better: What already exists to do this? What features do similar system have that I've not thought of?
