  • Wordpress: how to call a plugin function with an ajax call?

    I'm writing a Wordpress MU plugin, it includes a link with each post and I want to use ajax to call one of the plugin functions when the user clicks on this link, and then dynamically update the link-text with output from that function. I'm stuck with the ajax query. I've got this complicated, clearly hack-ish, way to do it, but it is not quite working. What is the 'correct' or 'wordpress' way to include ajax functionality in a plugin? (My current hack code is below. When I click the generate link I don't get the same output I get in the wp page as when I go directly to sample-ajax.php in my browser.)     When building an Eclipse plugin (lato sensu) which consists of multiple plugins and one feature, I have two ways of specifying dependencies: in the plugins themselves, using Require-Bundle and Import-Package in META-INF/MANIFEST.MF; in the feature.xml file from the feature. In my understanding, it should be enough to declare the dependencies at the lower level, i.e. in the plugins. Why do we still have the feature.xml requires mechanism?

  • Setup routing and iptables for new VPN connection to redirect **only** ports 80 and 443

    I have a new VPN connection (using openvpn) to allow me to route around some ISP restrictions. Whilst it is working fine, it is taking all the traffic over the vpn. This is causing me issues for downloading (my internet connection is a lot faster than the vpn allows), and for remote access. I run an ssh server, and have a daemon running that allows me to schdule downloads via my phone. I have my existing ethernet connection on eth0, and the new VPN connection on tun0. I believe I need to setup the default route to use my existing eth0 connection on the 192.168.0.0/24 network, and set the default gateway to 192.168.0.1 (my knowledge is shaky as I haven't done this for a number of years). If that is correct, then I'm not exactly sure how to do it!. Except it isn't! Connections to the blocked websites are going through, connections not on ports 80 and 443 are using the non-VPN connection. However port 80 and 443 connections that aren't to the blocked websites are using the non-VPN connection too!   • How to make WordPress "Add/Edit Post" form more Tumblr like?

    Hi, WordPress requires you give each blog post at least two fields: a title and text body content. I'm wondering how to modify WordPress admin so I can sometimes enter a single field for a blog post, in particular a URL, without WordPress requiring a title (related but not the point of this question: a custom theme would then know how to handle a post that only contained a URL, it would treat it like a "Link" post in Tumblr). Ideally it'd be good if the "add/edit post" form could be modified so it only contains this single URL/Link field when this is wanted. I'm guessing this is possible through a plugin but I'm not certain. I'm hoping some smart WordPress devs are here to share and brainstorm ideas for how this could be done.   • App will not launch from drawer after phone is removed from car dock

    I am creating a replacement Car Home app for Android 2.0+ devices. The app needs to launch when the phone is inserted into the car dock, as well as terminate when it is removed from the dock. It also needs to be able to be launched from the app drawer. I'm having a problem right now where once the phone is inserted and removed from the dock, I can no longer launch the app from the app drawer because every time I launch the app my BroadcastReceiver picks up a DOCK_EVENT action for some reason. I created a test project that only registers my BroadcastReceiver, and the same thing happens.   • Problem accessing updated variables within OnTouch

  • Virtual pages for my plugin

    Hi, I am currently in the process of making a WordPress Plugin which is going to parse some external data (products) from various web services and present them as normal pages in WordPress. I would like to avoid actually creating the pages programatically and instead just generate them on the fly to avoid any synchronization issues if a product is deleted and so forth. My plugin is going to have a base url in which it will hook on to, for example /products/, and then I would generate each product page by calling /products/some-product-name/. I also anticipate the need for uri's like /products/category/some-category-name/ which I will use to list all items in that category. Since I am new to WordPress plugin development, I am looking for some tips and advice to get me started on the right foot. Any help is highly appreciated ;)

  • Touching an object in a tweened animation?

    I'm having trouble porting a simple game I developed for the iPhone over to Android. The game has an animated ball which moves from Point A to Point B. The user must touch the ball before it reaches point B or lose the game. This was easy to implement on the iPhone using Core Animation since I could locate the current position of the ball by accessing its animation layer. In Android, I attempted to recreate the game using tweened animation and represented the ball as a Drawable. My issue is that I can't determine if the user is touching the spot because the Drawable apparently bounds do not update as the ball visually moves - making the program think the ball is always in its original position. While searching these forums I saw an Android team dev. confirm that you can't get the current location in a tweened animation but offered no solution for a workaround. Can I accomplish this on the Android using my current approach? If not, what approach should I use? Best regards, Michael

    Hiya, I am attempting to carry out a few functions when a user registers on a wordpress site. I have created a module for this which carries out the following function: add_action( 'user_register', 'tml_new_user_registered' ); function tml_new_user_registered( $user_id ) { //wp_set_auth_cookie( $user_id, false, is_ssl() ); //wp_redirect( admin_url( 'profile.php' ) ); $user_info = get_userdata($user_id); $subscription_value = get_user_meta( $user_id, "subscribe_to_newsletter", TRUE); if($subscription_value == "Yes") { //include("Subscriber.Add.php"); } echo "<pre>: "; print_r($user_info); print_r($subscription_value); echo "</pre>"; exit; } But it seems that i am not able to access any user meta data as at the end of this stage none of it is stored. Any ideas how i execute a function once Wordpress has completed the whole registration process of adding meta data into the relevant tables too? I attempted to use this: add_filter('user_register ','tml_new_user_registered',99); But with no luck unfortunately. Thanks in advance!

    I would like to create my own implementation of a LocationProvider, there seems to be a way to add a "mock" provider, but that isn't exactly what I want. http://developer.android.com/reference/android/location/LocationManager.html There also appears to be a permission called: android.permission.INSTALL_LOCATION_PROVIDER But there is no documentation about how to use this permission. How do I register a new location provider?

  • How to scale an Image in ImageView to keep the aspect ratio

    Hi, In android, I defined an ImageView's layoutWidth to be 'fill_parent' (which takes up the full width of the phone). My question is if the Image i put to ImageView is bigger than the layoutWidth, android will scale it, right? But what about the height? when android scale it, will it keeps the aspect ratio? What I find out is, there is some 'white space' at the top/bottom of the ImageView when android scales an image which is bigger than the ImageView. Is that true? If yes, how can I eliminate that white spaces? Thank you.
