• Which JavaScript MVC framework to use for wysiwyg editing and floating context-sensitive settings pa

  I'm developing a cms that allows editing everything on the page (generated server-side with a template engine) by just clicking on it — the area turns into input field, textarea or a full-featured tinyMCE editor, Template defines editable elements like "page heading", "copyright footer text", "image", "rich text block" etc. Along with that there's always a flotaing panel with several tabs, some of which contain general settings like page bacground color, font settings etc, but some are context sensitive (e.g., the clicking on "image" editable field triggers to display uploading/cropping/captioning interface in the floating panel). All settings in the panel are either simple inputs or sliders or checkboxes. I'm new to using MVC with javascript, and in fact haven't used it much before. jQuery is used as code library for the project. Should i use JavascriptMVC, SproutCore or anything else? Does any of them allow some kind of sandboxing (within bounds of commmon sense) to allow some javascript code by user-generated skins on my cms? thank you!

  We have this XML: <Summary> <ValueA>xxx</ValueA> <ValueB/> </Summary> <ValueB/> will never have any attributes or inner elements. It's a boolean type element - it exists (true) or it doesn't (false). JAXB generated a Summary class with a String valueA member, which is good. But for ValueB, JAXB generated a ValueB inner class and a corresponding member: @XmlElement(name = "ValueB") protected Summary.ValueB valueB; But what I'd like is a boolean member and no inner class: @XmlElement(name = "ValueB") protected boolean valueB; How can you do this? I'm not looking to regenerate the classes, I'd like to just make the code change manually.

  Okay. Now I give up. I have been playing with this for hours. I have a variable name $data. • NSPopupButton bound to NSArrayController not updating

  I've got an NSPopupButton bound to an NSArrayController. (Man, that was harder than I thought it would be!) I have an NSArrayController bound to an NSMutableArray via the NSArrayController's "Controller Content" binding. The "Content" and "Content Values" bindings of the NSPopupButton are bound to my NSArrayController, and "Selected Object" is bound to a member in my app delegate. It is working as I expect. Except, when I add items to the NSMutableArray that my NSArrayController is bound to they don't appear in the popup. I kind of expected this to work automagically... with the NSArrayController observing the NSMutableArray and updating the NSPopupButton as necessary. Clearly I am missing something. [Update] Ok, clearly I am adding items to my array in a way that the array controller can't see. I finally found this... https://developer.apple.com/library/mac/documentation/cocoa/conceptual/CocoaBindings/Concepts/Troubleshooting.html But I really don't understand what it means. Does anyone know of a simple example of the proper way to dynamically added items to a bound NSMutableArray when the "adder" has no idea that there is a UI element bound to the array? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  Hi I have a CALayer tree hierarchy A B C D where A is the view's root layer (and I create and add B,C and D layers. I am using the same delegate method `- (void) drawLayer:(CALayer *) theLayer inContext:(CGContextRef)context to provide content to each of these layers (implemented through a switch statement in the above method). At initiation A's content is drawn (A.contents) sequentially through these methods `- (void) drawLayer:(CALayer *) theLayer inContext:(CGContextRef)context -(void) drawCircle:(CALayer *) theLayer inContext:(CGContextRef)context where drawCircle does CGContextSaveGState(context); / draws circle and other paths here / CGContextRestoreGState(context); CGImageRef contentImage = CGBitmapContextCreateImage(context); theLayer.contents = (id) contentImage; CGImageRelease(contentImage); (i.e I save the Context, do the drawing, restore the context, make a bitmap of the context, update the layer's contents, in this case A's, then release the contentimage). When the user then clicks somewhere in the circle at touchesEnded:(NSSet*)touches withEvent:(UIEvent*)event delegate method I then try to paint the content of B by (still in touchesEnded:) CGContextRef context = UIGraphicsGetCurrentContext(); [self drawLayer:self.B inContext:context]; [self.B setNeedsDisplay]; the setNeedsDisplay call the delegate - drawLayer:(CALayer *) theLayer inContext:(CGContextRef)context again but this time the switch statement (using a layer flag) calls [self drawCircle:theLayer inContext:context]; with color red. • Netbeans 6.8 groovy files in src/main/java

  I have a new netbeans maven/groovy project, and I actually prefer to mix my java and groovy files in src/main/java and src/test/java (I find it easier to navigate this way and my pom reflects this configuration). However, when I have my project setup this way in Netbeans 6.8, it always shows the generated-sources folder in error. The stubs generated from groovy files in src/test/java can't be opened by netbeans and given an error that they can't be parsed. However, in windows explorer the files are in tact. Netbeans can run the project but it continues to prompt me that some files are in error (even though I know they're not). It's like netbeans isn't refreshing itself. Any thoughts on how to fix this? thanks, Jeff

  I have eventually managed to fiddle HyperJAXB so that when XSD has complexType A and this has an IDREF to complexType B, then HyperJAXB will generate @OneToOne JPA annotations between the the two generated entities. However now I'm facing another problem: the XSD has complex type X that can IDREF to either complex type Y or complex type Z. In the end, I need instance of complex type X contain reference to either instance of class Y or class Z. Do you have any wild ideas how can this be done without manual alterations to the generated classes? And at the same time to make sure these entities are marshalled to a correct XML? How about using the JAXB plugin that allows generating classes so that they implement a particular interface? Could that lead anywhere?

• jQuery RJS inserting string vs dom.

  So I am trying to use jQuery to insert data from an ajax call. I actually use the jquery.form plugin, and have the ajax form submitted with a dataType: 'script'. The response is a jquery expression which contains a <%= javascript_escape(render ...) %> erb tag (similar to what the railscasts episode 136 instructs to do). However the end result is that the full text of the render is inserted as if that was the content to be inserted into the page, as text, not as dom elements. Could the fact that the render had some newlines at the beginning be the cause? Dom text: "\n \n &lt;li>....&lt;/li>" I also tried having jQuery just read the response as a script and execute it, and used the prototype-based rjs stuff, same effect, the text is inserted into the dom. Are there any reasons why such a behavior would be experienced? A bit of clarification: My response.js.erb is jQuery("#content").append("<%= escape_javascript(render(:partial => "widgets")) %>"); jQuery("#information").text("Finally, something happened!"); The full text inside the append() call is inserted as text into #content.

• Assigning specific menu administration rights for roles in drupal

  Hello folks. I'm trying to give one of my roles the administrative rights to add/remove content in a specific menu (but not all menus). I think I found a module that should enable something like this, http://drupalmodules.com/module/delegate-menu-administration I've followed the instructions, added the role to my user, checked the "administer some menus" value for that role and checked the "Make admin" field for that role and specific menu in Menus. I also gave the role permissions to change page and story content. However, it still wont let the user add any new content it creates in any menu, and I get an error message saying "warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in /home/martin/www/drupal/modules/delegate_menu_admin/delegate_menu_admin.module on line 346." Line 346 looks like this: foreach ($form['menu']['parent']['#options'] as $key => $value) { I did a print_r($form); in the file just before it and there's no such array that I can see: [menu] => Array ( [#access] => 1 [delete] => Array ( [#access] => ) ) When I gave the role "administer menu" permissions, nothing extra was printed at all, leading me to the assumption that the delegate_menu_admin.module file is not used at all while both the "administer menu" and the "administer some menus" (from the delegate-menu-administration module) permissions are set! Is this some incompatibility between the module because of some drupal update? Or am I just too tired and too stupid? :)

  Are there any good alternatives to SQLite + FTS3 for python? I'm iterating over a series of text documents, and would like to categorize them according to some text queries. For example, I might want to know if a document mentions the words "rating" or "upgraded" within three words of "buy." The FTS3 syntax for this query is the following: (rating OR upgraded) NEAR/3 buy That's all well and good, but if I use FTS3, this operation seems rather expensive. The process goes something like this: # create an SQLite3 db in memory conn = sqlite3.connect(':memory:') c = conn.cursor() c.execute('CREATE VIRTUAL TABLE fts USING FTS3(content TEXT)') conn.commit() Then, for each document, do something like this: #insert the document text into the fts table, so I can run a query c.execute('insert into fts(content) values (?)', content) conn.commit() # execute my FTS query here, look at the results, etc # remove the document text from the fts table before working on the next document c.execute('delete from fts') conn.commit() This seems rather expensive to me. The other problem I have with SQLite FTS is that it doesn't appear to work with Python 2.5.4. The 'CREATE VIRTUAL TABLE' syntax is unrecognized. This means that I'd have to upgrade to Python 2.6, which means re-testing numerous existing scripts and programs to make sure they work under 2.6. Is there a better way? Perhaps a different library? • Django: Named URLs / Same Template, Different Named URL

  I have a webapp that lists all of my artists, albums and songs when the appropriate link is clicked. I make extensive use of generic views (object_list/detail) and named urls but I am coming across an annoyance. I have three templates that pretty much output the exact same html that look just like this: {% extends "base.html" %} {% block content %} <div id="content"> <ul id="starts-with"> {% for starts_with in starts_with_list %} <li><a href="{% url song_list_x starts_with %}">{{ starts_with|upper }}</a></li> {% endfor %} </ul> <ul> {% for song in songs_list %} <li>{{ song.title }}</li> {% endfor %} </ul> </div> {% endblock content %} My artist and album template look pretty much the same and I'd like to combine the three template's into one. The fact that my variables start with song can easily be changed to the default obj. It's my <ul id="starts-with"> named url I don't know how to correct. Obviously I want it to link to a specific album/artist/song using the named urls in my urls.py but I don't know how to make it context aware.   I'm trying to get content from an RSS2 feed from one of my sites and use it in another site. The feed is here. And the description is a sort of the teaser. Changing $node->getElementsByTagName('description')->item(0)->nodeValue to $node->getElementsByTagName('content')->item(0)->nodeValue gives me nothing, and content:encoded is no better.   I am trying to query an XML document that uses namespaces. I have had success with xpath without namespaces, but no results with namespaces. This is a basic example of what I was trying. I have condensed it slightly, so there may be small issues in my sample that may detract from my actual problem. • setInterval alternative

  Hi folks, In my app I am polling the webserver for messages every second and displaying them in the frontend. I use setInterval to achieve this. However as long as the user stays on that page the client keeps polling the server with requests even if there is no data. The server does give an indication when no more messages are being generated by setting a variable. I thought of using this variable to clearInterval and stop the timer but that didn't work. What else can I use in this situation? I am using jquery and django.   I want to execute a query like this var result = from entry in table where entry.something == null select entry; and get an IS NULL generated. Edited: After the first two answers i feel the need to clarify that I'm using Entity Framework and not Linq to SQL. The object.Equals() method does not seem to work in EF. Edit no.2: The above query works as intended. It correctly generates IS NULL. My production code however was var value = null; var result = from entry in table where entry.something == value select entry; and the generated SQL was something = @p; @p = NULL. It seems that EF correctly translates the constant expression but if a variable is involved it treats it just like a normal comparison. Makes sense actually. I'll close this question

• Drupal 6 - Including a module form in a view

  I'm making use of the Favorites module, in order to allow my users to favorite nodes they like. Currently, I know that there is a block available for listing out the favorites, along with the 'Add to favorites' button at the top of this list. What I'd like to do is generate the form which includes the button, and include it within each node that I generate. I'd gotten it hacked up and quickly working by copying the generated form and placing it in my views-view--fields-.tpl.php template, however I believe that doing it this way goes against the thought behind Drupal, and probably introduces security issues with the form_id and form_token being hand-written. I've attempted to call the get_form function, and have passed it the form_id that I found in the generated form code, however I can't get Drupal to recognize it. From some Googling I've noticed that generating module forms programmatically may require a hook, but I haven't been able to find any good examples of this. What is the best way to go about creating this form?

When I add the created ContentControl to a regular Canvas, control is showed correctly. I guess the reason is that DrawingCanvas doesn't implement ArrangeOverride method. It only implements MeasureOverride method. Also DrawingContainer doesn't implement Measure and Arrange override methods. Any ideas?

• WCF Callbacks often break

  I'm having quite some trouble with the WCF Callback mechanism. They sometimes work but most of the time they don't. I have a really simple Interface for the callbacks to implement: public interface IClientCallback { [OperationContract] void Log(string content); } I then implmenent that interface with a class on the client: [ServiceBehavior(InstanceContextMode = InstanceContextMode.PerSession)] [ServiceContract] internal sealed class ClientCallback : IClientCallback { public void Log(String content){ Console.Write(content); } } And on the client I finally connect to the server: NetTcpBinding tcpbinding = new NetTcpBinding(SecurityMode.Transport); EndpointAddress endpoint = new EndpointAddress("net.tcp://127.0.0.1:1337"); ClientCallback callback= new ClientCallback(); DuplexChannelFactory<IServer> factory = new DuplexChannelFactory<IServer>(callback,tcpbinding, endpoint); factory.Open(); _connection = factory.CreateChannel(); ((ICommunicationObject)_connection).Faulted += new EventHandler(RecreateChannel); try { ((ICommunicationObject)_connection).Open(); } catch (CommunicationException ce) { Console.Write(ce.ToString()); } To invoke the callback I use the following: OperationContext.Current.GetCallbackChannel().Log("Hello World!"); But it just hangs there, and after a while the client complains about timeouts. Is there a simple solution as to why?
