    Boy, they sure were ambitious back in the 70s; while today we’re happy to have a small apartment-sized environment in orbit, back then they were dreaming of entire cities in space.   • Platforms for sharing content and expertise

    Are there any platforms / sites where people can share expertise in game development and where you can share (either payed or free) digital content (like images, sounds, animations but also frameworks or libraries) to be used in games? I'd also like the possibility to contact users and request specific pieces of content. I'd like to start out as an indie developer and have programming skills but I lack the experience and time to create ingame artwork and sound. Is there any site where I could locate other people (artists mostly) who would want to work on a game for free? I know I can get most technical questions answered on this site and I have some contacts but I'm affraid this won't be enough.

  • Can I become an Ubuntu Member by contributing on askubuntu?

    The Ubuntu Membership Wiki states: Contributions are valued and recognized whether you contribute to artwork, any of the LoCoTeams, documentation, providing support on the forums, the answers tracker, IRC support, bug triage, translation, development and packaging, marketing and advocacy, contributing to the wiki, or anything else. This defines what contributions "count" toward what will be considered valuable when applying for Ubuntu membership. What I want to know is, does my involvement on askubuntu fall under the stipulation "...or anything else"? I'd imagine they don't literally mean anything else, just things they consider to fit the scope of contributing to Ubuntu. So is my help here valuable in contributing? Has anyone ever obtained membership by using their askubuntu contributions as their argument toward membership?

  • Fluid iPhone Animation ala Plants vs Zombies

    If you've played Plants vs Zombies, you've seen how fluid and remarkable the character animation is. Can anyone assume how they are doing this? They don't seem to simply be animating bitmaps; the animation is too crisp, even as characters rotate and scale. The artwork looks vector, but I can't imagine that everything is drawn out using Core Graphics. Any ideas?

  • index seems to be out of sync for jquery .keydown and .click methods

    I'd like to navigate images using both keyboard and mouse (clicking left and right arrow images). I'm using Jquery to do this, but the shared imgIndex seems to be off from the .keydown function and the .click function... Whenever .keydown function -- or ++ the imgIndex, isn't that changed index also used in the click function?     I created podcast rss feed - http://topdj-test.com.ua/podcast/audio-files/12/3/ And I set up "<image>" and "<itunes:image>" tags. But when I put this feed to iTunes, the picture of podcast wasn't shown in iTunes in artwork section. What have I done wrong?

  • squid3 auth thru samba using ntlm to AD doesn't work

    some users here are spending to much time exploring the WWW. So big boss whats to get this under control.   • How can I enable my users to view EPS, PSD, and AI files without the Adobe Creative Suite?

    I have many user's who work on a sales floor and need to be able to open these files just to view them so that they can confirm that the artwork they are getting from a customer is correct before passing it on. I do not want to purchase Adobe Creative Suite licenses for these users so that they can simply view these documents. What is the cheapest and best alternative to the Adobe Creative suite that will realistically open all (or at least some) of the files they are likely to receive? Currently I have tried to use XnView with Ghostscript, Inkscape, and Adobe Acrobat Reader but even with all these combined we still can't open many of the files that we receive.

  • How do I make an Illustrator file "higher resolution"?

    I was given an illustrator file, but all the curves on the artwork are jagged. I've tried "rasterizing" and exporting by increasing the size of the image. I don't know what else to do or what I'm doing wrong. My understanding is the beauty of Illustrator is that it's all done mathematically, so I can scale it up to infinity and it will be perfect (more or less). And that lines are drawn that way also, so they should be (or can be) infinitely smooth if they want to be.   • iTunes memory usage

    Why does iTunes use upwards of 70 megs of ram when it is minimized to my system tray playing music? -- Update -- I understand that iTunes is a resource hog :) What I'm trying to find out, is what part of iTunes is using all that ram. Is it the music library? If I have a smaller music library, will it use less ram? Is it loading all the Album Artwork into ram for some dumb reason? Additionally, is there any recommendations on what someone could do to reduce the amount of ram it is using?

  • Image resolution not showing up in "Get info" dialog in Mac OS X

    When I bought a Mac Mini with Mac OS X, I could show image dimensions in the Get Info dialog. After that, I installed some mobile application development software and later I noticed, Get Info was not showing the image dimensions anymore. I need to check the dimensions of those images to include artwork in my project. Now, I reinstalled my Mac OS X and it's working fine – it is showing the dimensions: Before that, 516x314 was missing. Why did that happen? How can I prevent it from happening again?

  • Excel - Chart that sums the values in multiple rows for each series

    Suppose I have a spread sheet that looks something like this... Now, I'd like to create a column chart that has 3 series, one for each country. Then, I want series for each category, but I want to plot the total, not each individual order total. So, something like this (excuse the horrible artwork)... The data label placement isn't all the important, the key is that for each Category (Bikes and Clothes) I chart the total for each country, not individual values from the "Order Total" column. Is this possible? Is it possible to do the same idea, but to switch Country and Category around?
