  Always on the lookout for examples of community doc, and here's a great one: Chet Justice (@oraclenerd) just launched an eBook version (PDF actually) of John Piwowar's (@jpiwowar) very popular multi-part E-Business Suite Installation Guide. You can obtain it using the PayPal buttons here. All in a good cause too. Creation of how-to information like this for functional or technical tasks, along with working examples about post-install steps, configurations and customizations, is what an applications community value-add is all about. Each community is different of course, an Adobe PhotoShop community might be more interested in templates. Great to see the needs of the community being met like this. • Why are so many questions closed? [closed]

  Why is there so many questions on this stackexchange site closed? I mean far more than usual. Even very high quality discussions are closed. Doesn't this high number of closed questions with high number of views and good quality of content seem like that the current policy that governs the criteria for appropriate question might be going against nature? I mean it feels as if lot of questions or discussions are everything surrounding programmer, programming, and need not be objective or seeking definitive answer. It appears lot of questions are of inquisitive nature seeking insight into other programmers and finding common subjects of interest. Is it possible for mods to relax a bit? I mean lot of great questions with [closed] tag everywhere doesn't do justice. This question in itself is a perfect example of what I am talking about and it will be closed. But I think my point is clear.

I am not referring to the case of trying to have multiple ng-app declarations on the same page; rather, I mean different sections of a large site that have their own, unique ng-app declaration. As Scott Allen writes in his OdeToCode blog: One scenario I haven't found addressed very well is the scenario where multiple apps exist in the same greater web application and require some shared code on the client.   I've read a lot about how GoTo was considered harmful and removed for other control structures that were more intuitive. Does anyone have a good example / sample of goto spaghetti code? Preferrably, the sample code should be difficult to follow, but realtively easy when rewritten into more conventional control structures. I know I could try to write you some of my own, but I've never really used goto and don't think I could due justice to the headaches its abuse can lead to. I want this for didactic purposes to train junior developers on what to avoid. Mainly, to point to illustrate how OOP is taking the same idea to next logical consequence. EDIT: by good example I mean code that is terrible to read and abuses it, rather than code that uses goto for reasonable optimization

I have bought M-Audio Bx5a deluxe Studio Monitors for my T61. I think the onboard Intel HD sound card will not do any justice to these speakers. So I am looking for an external sound interface. I particularly liked this one as it is not very expensive and it has a volume control (speaker lack a central-front volume knob). Has anyone been able to use this on ubuntu. Also, if anyone would like to recommend me another option?

• iDeneb OS X Issues

  This afternoon I installed OS X Leopard on my computer through iDeneb. It mostly worked, but I have a few issues. Firstly, it doesn't seem like it's detecting my graphics card properly. I have a Nvidia 8800GT 512mb installed. As you can see in the screenshot below, it's not detecting it and limiting me to a resolution of 1024x768 (which is a pain in the arse to use) Secondly, I don't have any sound. It's not a massive issue like the graphics issue above, but I'd still like to get it rectified. Thirdly, (this is a very small one) my numlock light doesn't seem to be functioning. I don't really care as the numpad still works, but it would be nice to have the numlock light working. Can anyone lend a hand with any of those problems? Thanks. (bump for great justice)
