  • Confuse with OpenGL, SFML, and its library

    - by Robinson Joaquin
    I am a beginning to enter the world of game development. Lately, I researched that "OPENGL" is one of the tools to use in graphics, then I found out about "SFML" (I think that its a library or something that uses opengl). I am so confuse because all books/ sites said using "GLUT", but many people/fellow developers said that I must use a more updated one like "SFML" but sfml has few/none tutorials. What I am trying to say is "how to create own library or something like your own glut or sfml", and why does opengl has no source code? And how can I use the EXACT(not glut/sfml) opengl in my c++ program? I am so confuse....

  • Disable #pragma message("")

    - by Balls-of-steel
    Hi, I needed to include in my project but there is a line, in glut.h which is #pragma message("Note: including lib: glut32.lib\n") It is really annoying and I want to get rid of it when compiling. I could just remove the line in my glut.h but I want my fix to be independent of the glut.h. I have tried setting #pragma warnings to show only critical info, and I have also tried #pragma message disable but nothing worked. Any help?

  • stress testing opencl/Ati GPU on 12.04

    - by lurscher
    What does people normally use to stress test their GPU on ubuntu 12.04? I tried installing Phoronix Benchmark suite ubuntu .deb but it tries to install freeglu3-dev and at the same time complains about $ phoronix-test-suite benchmark pts/opencl The following dependencies are needed and will be installed: freeglut3-dev This process may take several minutes. Reading package lists... Building dependency tree... Reading state information... freeglut3-dev is already the newest version. 0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 90 not upgraded. There are dependencies still missing from the system: - OpenGL Utility Kit / GLUT 1: Ignore missing dependencies and proceed with installation. 2: Skip installing the tests with missing dependencies. 3: Re-attempt to install the missing dependencies. 4: Quit the current Phoronix Test Suite process. Missing dependencies action: 4 so even if it is installing freeglu3, it still complains about missing GLUT. You can't win against GLUT it seems So, what does people use for this? i mean, really, because i have tried googling for an hour and it is not paying up Thanks!

  • Seeking an C/C++ OBJ geometry read/write that does not modify the representation

    - by Blake Senftner
    I am seeking a means to read and write OBJ geometry files with logic that does not modify the geometry representation. i.e. read geometry, immediately write it, and a diff of the source OBJ and the one just written will be identical. Every OBJ writing utility I've been able to find online fails this test. I am writing small command line tools to modify my OBJ geometries, and I need to write my results, not just read the geometry for rendering purposes. Simply needing to write the geometry knocks out 95% of the OBJ libraries on the web. Also, many of the popular libraries modify the geometry representation. For example, Nat Robbin's GLUT library includes the GLM library, which both converts quads to triangles, as well as reverses the topology (face ordering) of the geometry. It's still the same geometry, but if your tool chain expects a given topology, such as for rigging or morph targets, then GLM is useless. I'm not rendering in these tools, so dependencies like OpenGL or GLUT make no sense. And god forbid, do not "optimize" the geometry! Redundant vertices are on purpose for maintaining oneself on cache with our weird little low memory mobile devices.

  • How to move a rectangle properly?

    - by bodycountPP
    I recently started to learn OpenGL. Right now I finished the first chapter of the "OpenGL SuperBible". There were two examples. The first had the complete code and showed how to draw a simple triangle. The second example is supposed to show how to move a rectangle using SpecialKeys. The only code provided for this example was the SpecialKeys method. I still tried to implement it but I had two problems. In the previous example I declared and instaciated vVerts in the SetupRC() method. Now as it is also used in the SpecialKeys() method, I moved the declaration and instantiation to the top of the code. Is this proper c++ practice? I copied the part where vertex positions are recalculated from the book, but I had to pick the vertices for the rectangle on my own. So now every time I press a key for the first time the rectangle's upper left vertex is moved to (-0,5:-0.5). This ok because of GLfloat blockX = vVerts[0]; //Upper left X GLfloat blockY = vVerts[7]; // Upper left Y But I also think that this is the reason why my rectangle is shifted in the beginning. After the first time a key was pressed everything works just fine. Here is my complete code I hope you can help me on those two points. GLBatch squareBatch; GLShaderManager shaderManager; //Load up a triangle GLfloat vVerts[] = {-0.5f,0.5f,0.0f, 0.5f,0.5f,0.0f, 0.5f,-0.5f,0.0f, -0.5f,-0.5f,0.0f}; //Window has changed size, or has just been created. //We need to use the window dimensions to set the viewport and the projection matrix. void ChangeSize(int w, int h) { glViewport(0,0,w,h); } //Called to draw the scene. void RenderScene(void) { //Clear the window with the current clearing color glClear(GL_COLOR_BUFFER_BIT|GL_DEPTH_BUFFER_BIT|GL_STENCIL_BUFFER_BIT); GLfloat vRed[] = {1.0f,0.0f,0.0f,1.0f}; shaderManager.UseStockShader(GLT_SHADER_IDENTITY,vRed); squareBatch.Draw(); //perform the buffer swap to display the back buffer glutSwapBuffers(); } //This function does any needed initialization on the rendering context. //This is the first opportunity to do any OpenGL related Tasks. void SetupRC() { //Blue Background glClearColor(0.0f,0.0f,1.0f,1.0f); shaderManager.InitializeStockShaders(); squareBatch.Begin(GL_QUADS,4); squareBatch.CopyVertexData3f(vVerts); squareBatch.End(); } //Respond to arrow keys by moving the camera frame of reference void SpecialKeys(int key,int x,int y) { GLfloat stepSize = 0.025f; GLfloat blockSize = 0.5f; GLfloat blockX = vVerts[0]; //Upper left X GLfloat blockY = vVerts[7]; // Upper left Y if(key == GLUT_KEY_UP) { blockY += stepSize; } if(key == GLUT_KEY_DOWN){blockY -= stepSize;} if(key == GLUT_KEY_LEFT){blockX -= stepSize;} if(key == GLUT_KEY_RIGHT){blockX += stepSize;} //Recalculate vertex positions vVerts[0] = blockX; vVerts[1] = blockY - blockSize*2; vVerts[3] = blockX + blockSize * 2; vVerts[4] = blockY - blockSize *2; vVerts[6] = blockX+blockSize*2; vVerts[7] = blockY; vVerts[9] = blockX; vVerts[10] = blockY; squareBatch.CopyVertexData3f(vVerts); glutPostRedisplay(); } //Main entry point for GLUT based programs int main(int argc, char** argv) { //Sets the working directory. • How to set initial window size in Java OpenGL

    - by tommy-susanto
    Hi guys... I just built a Java OpenGL application in Eclipse... and when i was trying to export the application using EclipseP5Exporter, it requires me to initialize the window size (not viewport size, a window may contain several viewports). I already googled some solutions in the net but I can't seem to get anything useful.. I've tried the method : "glutInitWindowSize(int width, int height);" but it seems to work only in C and python openGL. even if i append the glut before the method (glut.glutInitWindowSize()) eclipse doesn't recognize that method.. So if you guys have any suggestions please let me know... Thank you....

  • Porting a project to OpenGL3

    - by Decapsuleur
    Hi everyone, I'm working on a C++ cross-platform OpenGL application (Windows, Linux and MacOS) and I am wondering if some of you could share some advices on porting a large application to OpenGL 3. The reason I am looking into OpenGL 3 is because I think we could benefit a lot from using the new "Sync objects". Nvidia has supported such an extension since the Geforce 256 days (gl_nv_fences) but there seems to be no equivalent functionality on ATI hardware before OpenGL 3.0+... Our code makes quite heavy use of glut/freeglut, glu functions, OpenGL 2 extensions and CUDA (on supported hardware). The problem I am now facing is that "gl3.h" and "gl.h" are mutually incompatible (as stated in gl3.h). Do you guys know if there is a GL3 glut equivalent ? Also, looking at the CUDA-toolkit header files, it seems that GL-CUDA interoperability is only available when using older versions of OpenGL... (cuda_gl_interop.h includes gl.h...). Am I missing something ? Thanks a lot for your help.

  • Unkillable console windows

    - by rep_movsd
    I'm developing an OpenGL based 2d simulation with GLUT under Visual C++ 2008, sometimes when I have an assert() or unhandled exception and break into the debugger, the GLUT display window closes, but the console window remains open.They just cant be killed!!! They do not show up with Task manager, Process Explorer or any other tool, I cannot find the window handle using the Spy++ tool either. Worst thing is they prevent my system (Windows XP) from shutting down, I have to manually poweroff (and of course I have to run chkdsk on my drives and invariably it finds and fixes minor errors after bad shutdowns) Has anyone come across such an issue?

  • Image loaded from TGA texture isn't displayed correctly

    I have a TGA texture containing this image: The texture is 256x256. So I'm trying to load it and map it to a cube: #import <OpenGL/OpenGL.h> #import <GLUT/GLUT.h> #import <stdlib.h> #import <stdio.h> #import <assert.h> GLuint width=640, height=480; GLuint texture; const char* const filename= "/Users/ramy/Documents/C/OpenGL/Test/Test/texture.tga"; void init() { // Initialization glEnable(GL_DEPTH_TEST); glViewport(-500, -500, 1000, 1000); glMatrixMode(GL_PROJECTION); glLoadIdentity(); gluPerspective(45, width/(float)height, 1, 1000); glMatrixMode(GL_MODELVIEW); glLoadIdentity(); gluLookAt(0, 0, -100, 0, 0, 0, 0, 1, 0); // Texture char bitmap[256][256][3]; FILE* fp=fopen(filename, "r"); assert(fp); assert(fread(bitmap, 3*sizeof(char), 256*256, fp) == 256*256); fclose(fp); glGenTextures(1, &texture); glBindTexture(GL_TEXTURE_2D, texture); glTexParameteri(GL_TEXTURE_2D, GL_TEXTURE_MAG_FILTER, GL_LINEAR); glTexParameteri(GL_TEXTURE_2D, GL_TEXTURE_MIN_FILTER, GL_LINEAR); glTexImage2D(GL_TEXTURE_2D, 0, GL_RGB, 256, 256, 0, GL_RGB, GL_UNSIGNED_BYTE, bitmap); } void display() { glClearColor(0, 0, 0, 0); glClear(GL_COLOR_BUFFER_BIT | GL_DEPTH_BUFFER_BIT); glEnable(GL_TEXTURE_2D); glBindTexture(GL_TEXTURE_2D, texture); glColor3ub(255, 255, 255); glBegin(GL_QUADS); glVertex3f(0, 0, 0); glTexCoord2f(0.0, 0.0); glVertex3f(40, 0, 0); glTexCoord2f(0.0, 1.0); glVertex3f(40, 40, 0); glTexCoord2f(1.0, 1.0); glVertex3f(0, 40, 0); glTexCoord2f(1.0, 0.0); glEnd(); glDisable(GL_TEXTURE_2D); glutSwapBuffers(); } int main(int argc, char** argv) { glutInit(&argc, argv); glutInitDisplayMode(GLUT_RGB | GLUT_DEPTH | GLUT_DOUBLE); glutInitWindowPosition(100, 100); glutInitWindowSize(width, height); glutCreateWindow(argv[0]); glutDisplayFunc(display); init(); glutMainLoop(); return 0; } But this is what I get when the window loads: So just half of the image is correctly displayed, and also with different colors.Then if I resize the window I get this: Magically the image seems to fix itself, even if the colors are wrong.Why?

  • rotating spheres

    - by Dave
    I want to continuously rotate 2 spheres, however the rotation does not seem to work. Here is my code: float angle = 0.0f; void light(){ glEnable(GL_LIGHTING); glEnable(GL_LIGHT0); glEnable(GL_LIGHT1); // Create light components GLfloat positionlight1[] = { 9.0, 5.0, 1.0, 0.0 }; GLfloat positionlight2[] = {0.2,2.5,1.3,0.0}; GLfloat light_ambient1[] = { 0.0, 0.0, 1.0, 1.0}; GLfloat light_diffuse[] = { 1.0, 1.0, 1.0, 1.0 }; glLightfv(GL_LIGHT0, GL_AMBIENT, light_ambient1); glLightfv(GL_LIGHT1, GL_DIFFUSE, light_diffuse); glLightfv(GL_LIGHT0, GL_POSITION, positionlight1); glLightfv(GL_LIGHT1, GL_POSITION, positionlight2); } void changeSize(int w, int h) { if (h==0) // Prevent A Divide By Zero By { h=1; // Making Height Equal One } glMatrixMode(GL_PROJECTION); // Select The Projection Matrix glLoadIdentity(); // Reset The Projection Matrix glViewport(0,0,w,h);// Reset The Current Viewport // Calculate The Aspect Ratio Of The Window gluPerspective(45.0f,(GLfloat)w/(GLfloat)h,0.1f,100.0f); glMatrixMode(GL_MODELVIEW); // Select The Modelview Matrix // Reset The Modelview Matrix } void renderScene(void) { glClear(GL_COLOR_BUFFER_BIT | GL_DEPTH_BUFFER_BIT); glPushMatrix(); //set where to start the current object glTranslatef(0.0,1.2,-6); glRotatef(angle,0,1.2,-6); glutSolidSphere(1,50,50); glPopMatrix(); //end the current object transformations glPushMatrix(); //set where to start the current object glTranslatef(0.0,-2,-6); glRotatef(angle,0,-2,-6); glutSolidSphere(0.5,50,50); glPopMatrix(); //end the current object transformations angle=+0.1; glutSwapBuffers(); } int main(int argc, char **argv) { // init GLUT and create window glutInit(&argc, argv); glutInitDisplayMode(GLUT_DEPTH | GLUT_DOUBLE | GLUT_RGBA); glutInitWindowPosition(100,100); glutInitWindowSize(500,500); glutCreateWindow("Hello World"); // register callbacks light(); glutDisplayFunc(renderScene); glutReshapeFunc(changeSize); glutIdleFunc(renderScene); // enter GLUT event processing loop glutMainLoop(); return 1; } Graphicstest::Graphicstest(void) { } In the renderscene where i draw,translate and rotate my 2 spheres.   • Using GCC (MinGW) to compile OpenGL on Windows

    - by Casey
    I've searched on google and haven't been able to come up with a solution. I would like to compile some OpenGL programming using GCC. In the GL folder in GCC I have the following headers: gl.h glext.h glu.h Then in my system32 file I have the following .dll opengl32.dll glu32.dll glut32.dll If I wanted to write a simple OpenGL "Hello World" and link and compile with GCC, what is the correct process? I'm attempting to use this code: #include <GL/gl.h> #include <GL/glut.h> void display() { glClear(GL_COLOR_BUFFER_BIT); glFlush(); } int main(int argc, char **argv) { glutInit(&argc, argv); glutInitWindowSize(512,512); glutInitDisplayMode(GLUT_SINGLE | GLUT_RGB); glutCreateWindow("The glut hello world program"); glutDisplayFunc(display); glClearColor(0.0, 0.0, 0.0, 1.0); glutMainLoop(); // Infinite event loop return 0; } Thank you in advance for the help.

  • C++ Memory Leak, Can't find where

    - by Nicholas
    I'm using Visual Studio 2008, Developing an OpenGL window. I've created several classes for creating a skeleton, one for joints, one for skin, one for a Body(which is a holder for several joints and skin) and one for reading a skel/skin file. Within each of my classes, I'm using pointers for most of my data, most of which are declared using = new int[XX]. I have a destructor for each Class that deletes the pointers, using delete[XX]. Within my GLUT display function I have it declaring a body, opening the files and drawing them, then deleting the body at the end of the display. But there's still a memory leak somewhere in the program. As Time goes on, it's memory usage just keep increasing, at a consistent rate, which I'm interpreting as something that's not getting deleted. I'm not sure if it's something in the glut display function that's just not deleting the Body class, or something else. I've followed the steps for memory leak detection in Visual Studio 2008 and it doesn't report any leak, but I'm not 100% sure if it's working right for me. I'm not fluent in C++, so there maybe something I'm overlooking, can anyone see it?

  • OpenGL true coordinates and glutTimerFunc() problem C++

    - by Meko
    HI I am starting to learn openGl for C++.but at stating point I stucked. I have 2 question that is the coordinates for drawing some objects? I mean where is X, Y and Z? Second one I am making tutorial from some sites. and I am trying to animate my triangle.In tutorial it works but on my computer not.I Also downloaded source codes but It doesnt move. Here sample codes. I thougt that problem is glutTimerFunc(). #include #include #ifdef APPLE #include #include #else #include #endif using namespace std; //Called when a key is pressed void handleKeypress(unsigned char key, int x, int y) { switch (key) { case 27: //Escape key exit(0); } } //Initializes 3D rendering void initRendering() { glEnable(GL_DEPTH_TEST); } //Called when the window is resized void handleResize(int w, int h) { glViewport(0, 0, w, h); glMatrixMode(GL_PROJECTION); glLoadIdentity(); gluPerspective(45.0, (double)w / (double)h, 1.0, 200.0); } float _angle = 30.0f; float _cameraAngle = 0.0f; //Draws the 3D scene void drawScene() { glClear(GL_COLOR_BUFFER_BIT | GL_DEPTH_BUFFER_BIT); glMatrixMode(GL_MODELVIEW); //Switch to the drawing perspective glLoadIdentity(); //Reset the drawing perspective glRotatef(-_cameraAngle, 0.0f, 1.0f, 0.0f); //Rotate the camera glTranslatef(0.0f, 0.0f, -5.0f); //Move forward 5 units glPushMatrix(); //Save the transformations performed thus far glTranslatef(0.0f, -1.0f, 0.0f); //Move to the center of the trapezoid glRotatef(_angle, 0.0f, 0.0f, 1.0f); //Rotate about the z-axis glBegin(GL_QUADS); //Trapezoid glVertex3f(-0.7f, -0.5f, 0.0f); glVertex3f(0.7f, -0.5f, 0.0f); glVertex3f(0.4f, 0.5f, 0.0f); glVertex3f(-0.4f, 0.5f, 0.0f); glEnd(); glPopMatrix(); //Undo the move to the center of the trapezoid glPushMatrix(); //Save the current state of transformations glTranslatef(1.0f, 1.0f, 0.0f); //Move to the center of the pentagon glRotatef(_angle, 0.0f, 1.0f, 0.0f); //Rotate about the y-axis glScalef(0.7f, 0.7f, 0.7f); //Scale by 0.7 in the x, y, and z directions glBegin(GL_TRIANGLES); //Pentagon glVertex3f(-0.5f, -0.5f, 0.0f); glVertex3f(0.5f, -0.5f, 0.0f); glVertex3f(-0.5f, 0.0f, 0.0f); glVertex3f(-0.5f, 0.0f, 0.0f); glVertex3f(0.5f, -0.5f, 0.0f); glVertex3f(0.5f, 0.0f, 0.0f); glVertex3f(-0.5f, 0.0f, 0.0f); glVertex3f(0.5f, 0.0f, 0.0f); glVertex3f(0.0f, 0.5f, 0.0f); glEnd(); glPopMatrix(); //Undo the move to the center of the pentagon glPushMatrix(); //Save the current state of transformations glTranslatef(-1.0f, 1.0f, 0.0f); //Move to the center of the triangle glRotatef(_angle, 1.0f, 2.0f, 3.0f); //Rotate about the the vector (1, 2, 3) glBegin(GL_TRIANGLES); //Triangle glVertex3f(0.5f, -0.5f, 0.0f); glVertex3f(0.0f, 0.5f, 0.0f); glVertex3f(-0.5f, -0.5f, 0.0f); glEnd(); glPopMatrix(); //Undo the move to the center of the triangle glutSwapBuffers(); } void update(int value) { _angle += 2.0f; if (_angle 360) { _angle -= 260; } glutPostRedisplay(); //Tell GLUT that the display has changed //Tell GLUT to call update again in 25 milliseconds glutTimerFunc(25, update, 0); } int main(int argc, char** argv) { //Initialize GLUT glutInit(&argc, argv); glutInitDisplayMode(GLUT_DOUBLE | GLUT_RGB | GLUT_DEPTH); glutInitWindowSize(400, 400); //Create the window glutCreateWindow("Transformations and Timers - videotutorialsrock.com"); initRendering(); //Set handler functions glutDisplayFunc(drawScene); glutKeyboardFunc(handleKeypress); glutReshapeFunc(handleResize); glutTimerFunc(24, update, 0); //Add a timer glutMainLoop(); return 0; }

  • Implementation of Race Game Tree

    - by Mert Toka
    I build a racing game right in OpenGL using Glut, and I'm a bit lost in all the details. First of all, any suggestions as a road map would be more than great. So far what I thought is this: Tree implementation for transformations. Simulated dynamics.(*) Octree implementation for collusion detection. Actual collusion detection.(*) Modelling in Maya and export them as .OBJs. Polishing the game with GLSL or something like that for graphics quality. (*): I am not sure the order of these two. So I started with the simulated dynamics without tree, and it turned out to be a huge chaos for me. Is there any way you can think of such that could help me to build such tree to use in racing game? I thought something like this but I have no idea how to implement it. Reds are static, yellows are dynamic nodes

  • Importing Models from Maya to OpenGL

    - by Mert Toka
    I am looking for ways to import models to my game project. I am using Maya as modelling software, and GLUT for windowing of my game. I found this great parser, it imports all the textures and normal vectors, but it is compatible with .obj files of 3dsMAX. I tried to use it with Maya obj's, and it turned out that Maya's obj files are a bit different from former one, thus it cannot parse them. If you know any way to convert Maya obj files to 3dsMax obj files, that would be acceptable as well as a new parser for Maya obj files.

  • Detecting long held keys on keyboard

    - by Robinson Joaquin
    I just want to ask if can I check for "KEY"(keyboard) that is HOLD/PRESSED for a long time, because I am to create a clone of breakout with air hockey for 2 different human players. Here's the list of my concern: Do I need other/ 3rd party library for KEY HOLDS? Is multi-threading needed? I don't know anything about this multi-threading stuff and I don't think about using one(I'm just a NEWBIE). One more thing, what if the two players pressed their respective key at the same time, how can I program to avoid error or worse one player's key is prioritized first before the the key of the other. example: Player 1 = W for UP & S for DOWN Player 2 = O for UP & L for DOWN (example: W & L is pressed at the same time) PS: I use GLUT for the visuals of the game.

  • OpenGL Drawing textured model (OBJ) black texture

    - by andrepcg
    I'm using OpenGL, Glew, GLFW and Glut to create a simple game. I've been following some tutorials and I have now a good model importer with textures (from ogldev.atspace.co.uk) but I'm having an issue with the model textures. I have a skybox with a beautiful texture as you can see in the picture That weird texture behind the helicopter (model) is the heli model that I've applied on purpose to that wall to demonstrate that specific texture is working, but not on the helicopter. I'll include the files I'm working on so you can check it out. Mesh.cpp - http://pastebin.com/pxDuKyQa Texture.cpp - http://pastebin.com/AByWjwL6 Render function + skybox - http://pastebin.com/Vivc9qnT I'm just calling mesh->Render(); before the drawSkyBox function, in the render loop. Why is the heli black when I can perfectly apply its texture to another quad? I've debugged the code and the mesh-render() call is correctly fetching the texture number and passing it to the texture-bind() function.

  • Creating an OpenGL FPS camera: I have the position and orientation vectors, now what?

    - by Synthetix
    I have been struggling to create a first person camera in OpenGL ES 2.0 without using gluLookAt(). I grab the camera's orientation vectors (the way it's looking) from the current modelview matrix, and use that to calculate the new forward/backward (Z) translation value. I then calculate the strafe (X) value from the dot product of Z and Y (which is always 1.0). So, I have all the information I need to create a view matrix, but how do I do that without using gluLookAt? Almost all the examples I've seen use gluLookAt, but no such function exists in OpenGL ES 2.0. Besides, one of the moderators on cprogramming.com mentioned that gluLookAt is not appropriate for FPS cameras: http://cboard.cprogramming.com/game-programming/135390-how-properly-move-strafe-yaw-pitch-camera-opengl-glut-using-glulookat.html I am really confused by all the conflicting information I'm getting. I just want to create a first person camera that goes forward (W,S keys), side-to-side (A,D keys) and rotates around its center (Y axis only), Wolfenstein style. Any help on this would be much appreciated!

  • Qt 4.6 OpenGL GLSL

    - by Zeke
    I'm trying to find like NeHe's tutorials for Qt that are all in GLSL. Because lets face it, OpenGL in the old days are dead and Shaders are the only way now. And with Qt-4.6 they introduced the QMatrix4x4, QVector3, and the Shader classes. But I cannot find any tutorials for this. All the ones I do find, all use crappy SDL and/or GLUT (Which are just plain useless).

  • Is there a simple way for opening one (or many) opengl window in mac OS X with C++ ?

    - by Petruza
    Yes, I hate Objective-c, plus my project will be portable, so I'd like to code as much of it in C++ as possible, ideally 100%. So I have a regular C++ project made with Xcode, and want to open some OpenGL windows. edit: Damn, Glut takes over the app's control with glutMainLoop(), pretty much as SDL does, I'm trying to break free from that schemes. Will try freeglut, although I can't find OSX binaries, and I always have such bad luck trying to compile someone else's code.

  • Is there any decent OpenGL SceneGraph API/framework?

    - by JohnIdol
    I am new to OpenGL. Wondering if there is any good Scenegraph API/framework for OpenGL. At the moment I am using glut with a custom node based solution: I am setting children and siblings for each node the calling a traverse function. I'd like a more flexible solution when it comes to managing dynamic elements in the scene.
