  I am trying to process with Proguard a MS Windows desktop application (Java 6 SE using the SWT lib provided by Eclipse). And I get the following critical error: Unexpected error while performing partial evaluation: Class = [org/eclipse/swt/widgets/DateTime] Method = [<init>(Lorg/eclipse/swt/widgets/Composite;I)V] Exception = [java.lang.IllegalArgumentException] (Can't find common super class of [java/lang/StringBuffer] and [org/eclipse/swt/internal/win32/TCHAR]) Error: Can't find common super class of [java/lang/StringBuffer] and [org/eclipse/swt/internal/win32/TCHAR] ---------------------------- When I tried to Google the error, it came out only on two spots on the entire web, that astonished me greatly. I am newbie using Proguard and Java code optimization tools at all. Any thoughts and suggestions how to fix this, will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

• Status of VB6/ Best Desktop Application Language with Native Compilation

  I was looking for a Desktop Application Programming Language with one of the biggest constraint: - “I need to output as native executable”. I explored multiple options: Java is not a very good option for desktop programming, but still you can use it. But Java to Exe is a problem. Only GCJ and Excelsior-Jet provides this. .Net platform does not support native compilation. Only very few expensive tools are available which can do the job. Python is not an option for native compilation. Right? VB6 is the option I am left with. From the above list, if I am correct, VB6 is the only and probably the best option I have. But VB6 itself has issues like: It is no more under development since There are questions on support of VB6 IDE with Vista Thus my questions are: From the list of programming language options, do you want to add any more? If VB6 is good/best option, looking at its development status, would you suggest using VB6 in this era?

  I have build 64-bit (x64) versions of some assemblies and am trying to obfuscate them with .NET Reactor, which claims to have 64-bit support. However, even if I disable all protection and locking options .NET Reactor is always producing 32-bit assemblies! Does anyone know how to get .NET Reactor to produce 64-bit assemblies?

• Java obfuscators

  I'm looking for a good Java obfuscator. I've done initial research into the following Java obfuscators: proguard, yguard, retroguard, dasho, allatori, jshrink, smokescreen, jobfuscate, marvin, jbco, jode, javaguard, jarg, joga, cafebabe, donquixote, mwobfu, bbmug, zelix klassmaster, sandmark, jcloak, thicket, blufuscator, and java code protector. I tried proguard and it has a really nice GUI, seems really stable, and seems to be the most popular, but it seemed to not like some enumeration on a referenced jar file (not within the code I was trying to obfuscate) which was weird. Yguard seems to require some interaction with ant, which I didn't know too much about. What is a good java obfuscator? It doesn't need to be free, it just needs to work well and be easy to use.

  Can I user mono's AOT feature to natively "pre-compile" .NET DLLs (and or EXEs) to make them harder to reverse engineer? If so, how do I get mono/AOT working in Windows 7? (I'm running x64 but the app is targeting x86 explicitly.) I just installed Mono 2.6.3 and MinGW 5.1.6 and I'm trying to AOT compile an exe (or a dll, it doesn't matter). • Obfuscating multiple related .NET assemblies with babel obfuscator

  Hi I have two assemblies, A and B, where A depends on B. I'm trying to obfuscate both of them together, i.e. in a way it doesn't break the app with the babel obfuscator. Is there a way to do that? Apparently this obfuscator doesn't handle multiple assemblies. If that's an issue, which other .NET obfuscator- that handles multiple assemblies- would you recommend?

  i use proguard (support in mtj plugin) to obfuscate a project that has some third party jars but i gives me errors: Your input classes appear to be inconsistent. You may need to recompile them and try again. Alternatively, you may have to specify the options '-dontskipnonpubliclibraryclasses' and/or '-dontskipnonpubliclibraryclassmembers'. It seems that proguard use the classes in JavaSE. It only happens with projects that use third party jars :( Thank you in advanced!

• Compile android project to apk without eclipse

  What I have done is I have taken the class-files from my eclipse project and run them trough an optimizer/obfuscator. So I now have optimized class-files that I want to get in the form of an apk so I can sign and publish it. However, I am lost on how to do this. I guess I cant just copy them into the bin-folder of my eclipse-project, because eclipse would just overwrite them with a new compilation when I try to export a signed apk. I am not looking for a pretty-printing beautifier, but for a tool that actually know a to change & propagate variable name choices.   Does anyone have a sample post build event for Babel Obfuscator I can just copy and paste into my .net assembly release build configuration? The documentation for Babel is 54 pages long, and unfortunately doesn't come with any real world samples on how to use it with Visual Studio integration. Failing that , is there a free obfuscator out there that integrates well with VS 2008 post build, so that it will obfuscate the release DLL during each new build. I successfully compiled it without changing the code. But when I executed, it is giving me a value 0.25, what I am expecting is 3.14. Code description says it is in K&R C and it doesn't work correctly in ANSI C without some change. I think I have to do those modification to execute it properly. I don't have any previous experience with K&R C. So can someone help me to change above code to ANSI C or point to the problems if any. I am using Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 to execute this.

  Does anybody know of a free flash obfuscator? All I can find are commercial ones with free trials. I have done numerous google searches, and have been unable to find what I am looking for. I know that obfuscators do not make your swf hack proof, but they make things harder. Things I am looking for in an obfuscator: Unlimited obfuscations No time limit No watermark (or on the left side only! Right side is no good, same with center) Able to publish work (no special player needed other than standard flashplayer) I really was surprised to see how hard it was to find a good obfuscator (tried encoder, protection, etc. instead as well) and how easy it is to find a decompiler.... It is imperative that my code be protected, at least partially, to discourage the hacking of my game.

• change extension obfuscate XML file contents

  I have SlideShowPro, a Flash photo app that loads an XML file with the paths to the images. Now I don't want people to go sniff in the XML file to get to the images. I tried changing the file images.xml to spacer.gif and it seems to work fine. But I would like to know if I would run into any problems changing the extension. btw already used a few techniques to make the images not so accessible, I know there is no bulletproof solution. Obfuscating the XML file is just another trick..
