    I would like to see the changes that my co-workers have made before I accept the incoming changes. So I start by getting the status svn st -u ...which tells me that I've got an incoming change * 9803 incomingChanges.html M 9803 localChanges.html M * 9803 localAndIncoming.html I can see what I've changed svn diff localChanges.html ...but how can I diff incomingChanges.html and/orlocalAndIncoming.html to show what has been changed, and how it's different than my working copy?

    I'm using Subversion to checkin a file on OSX. I have my EDITOR variable configured to MacVim My .profile includes: export EDITOR=/Applications/MacVim/mvim When I checkin with the -m option (svn ci somefile), MacVim gets launched but then Subversion immediately displays: Log message unchanged or not specified (a)bort, (c)ontinue, (e)dit: It displays this before I get a chance to save my log message in MacVim. Is there a way to get SVN to use MacVim as the log message editor?

My question - how do you retrieve the subversion version of that css file to include in the link? Subversion keywords only tell you the revision of the file you are currently in. I'm working with PHP/CodeIgniter + jQuery.

    I'm trying to set up Subversion on Ubuntu Linux. It seems to be working, except that when I made one change and tried svn status, I found about 100 files had been changed, in the .metadata directory. My ~/.subversion/config file currently contains the following line: global-ignores = *.o *.lo *.la *.al .libs *.so *.so.[0-9]* *.a *.pyc *.pyo *.rej *~ .*.swp .DS_Store What do I need to add to ignore the .metadata files? The directory under consideration is used by Eclipse for Python development using PyDev, if that matters.

  • PHP Netbeans 6.8 subversion integration (Windows 7)

    I am using Netbeans 6.8 for PHP (under Windows 7) and the subversion integration doesn't work. I am able to checkout a module but I don't see the subversion features in the menus or the outine in the editor left margin that shows the changes in the files. I am using it under Ubuntu with no problems. Did any of you experimented the same problem? If yes, were you able to make it work? Thanks!

  • Does Subversion have an analogue to VSS's links?

    I am migrating a Visual SourceSafe code repository to Subversion and I am running into a problem. Here is a simplified layout of our current source code tree (in VSS): project_root\ |-libs\ |-tools\ |-arch_1\ | |-include | |-source |-arch_2\ |-include |-source My problem is in our two arch_ folders. Each arch_ folder will be built for a different hardware architecture, but the contents of the two folders are practically identical. The files in arch_2 are merely VSS links to the files in arch_1, with only a small handful of exceptions. Work is generally checked into and out of the arch_1 folder, and the VSS links make sure that any code checked in here is updated in the arch_2 folder as well. Moving to Subversion, is there anything that will behave like VSS's links? That is, is there a way to have two files in separate folders magically associated with one another such that they will always be in sync with each other (changes to one will affect the other as well)? Note: I know the correct answer here is to fix the build system. The build system on this project was pieced together roughly a decade ago, back when our compiler/build system wasn't intelligent enough to compile the same folder full of source code for two different architectures. Thanks to make and updated compilers, we can re-write the build system to eliminate this dependency on two parallel source folders. However, this will take time that we don't have at the moment (we are losing our license to our VSS server and are being forced to migrate on rather short notice). I am hoping to find a Subversion solution to this problem because at the moment, our time would be much better spent making the migration run smoothly than re-writing the build system (which is next on my to-do list!).     Does anyone know if this subversion "bug" has been dealt with? https://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/subversion/tags/1.6.9/www/faq.html#windows-access-denied I'm getting occasional "Access Denied" errors on Windows. They seem to happen at random. Why? These appear to be due to the various Windows services that monitor the filesystem for changes (anti-virus software, indexing services, the COM+ Event Notification Service). This is not really a bug in Subversion, which makes it difficult for us to fix. A summary of the current state of the investigation is available here. A workaround that should reduce the incidence rate for most people was implemented in revision 7598; if you have an earlier version, please update to the latest release. Currently I am experiencing this same behavior in version 1.5.6 when I try and do a SVN switch (I have suspected McAfee as the culprit for a while and when I saw this I feel it validates my suspicions). I read through the link given but it seems pretty old, so I didn't know if this FAQ was just outdated and the issue has actually be resolved. Thanks for any help.   • authentication error while importing from netbeans to subversion

    Hi Everyone.... I just began looking into source control.... And installed subversion from collabnet... I also use netbeans(6.8) to work with PHP... I have done the following steps I have installed subversion is c:\program files\collabnet\ and the root for the repositories in e:\svn_repository I then created a repository as e:\svn_repository\lemon I then edited the passwd file and added the user and password I then tried importing an existing project into the repository with the address - svn://localhost/lemon with the new user and password. After all this, i get the error "authentication failed"... I am pretty sure the authentication is correct... I tried importing the project with the address file:///E:/sv_repository/lemon with no authentication and it connected... But i got other guys who got to connect to this server through lan and svn:// protocol is the only option.... What am i doing wrong here..? Also.. where can i find a proper tutorial to connect netbeans and collabnet subversion.....? Thanks for your suggestions and time...

  • Using Git to work with subversion: Ignoring modifications to tracked files

    I am currently working with a subversion repository but I am using git to work locally on my machine. It makes work much easier, but it also makes some of the bad behavior going on in the subversion repo quite glaring and that creates problems for me. There is a somewhat complex local build process after pulling down the code and it creates (and unfortunately modifies) a number of files. Obviously these changes are not meant to be committed back to the repository. Unfortunately the build process is actually modifying some tracked files (yes, most likely because someone mistakenly committed these build artifacts at some point to the subversion repository). Since these are modifications adding them to my ignore file does nothing for me. I can avoid checking these changes back it, I simple don't stage or commit them, but having unstaged local changes means I can't rebase without first cleaning them up. What I would like to know is if there any way to ignore future changes to a set of tracked files? Alternatively, is there another way to handle the problem I am having, or will I just have to tell whoever checked in these files to clean them up?

The repository has a traditional organization with a main trunk and a version branch. I'd like to answer this question: Which closed ticket items entered in this release? See that there are some caveats, like when an item is committed in a release branch and in the main trunk. Is there a tool that already does it for me? Or should I write my own Subversion log analyzer tool?

  • Eclipse 3.5 and Ubuntu 9.10, subversion client does not work

    Hi, I had installed Eclipse 3.5 Yoxos on my Ubuntu 8.04 for month, and run fine. I had upgraded to 9.10 last week, and the subversion plugin does not work since upgrade. When I try to update or commit, Subversion work for hours without any progress in console or progress bars. I can delete files or add them to SVN, but commands wich involve network just hang. SVN run fine using command line. I have already patched the GDK problem. Since this I can cancel update/commit without crashing Eclipse. Regards Cédric

    I use Subversion mainly to synchronize work between two computers I use on a daily basis (and as a backup, since I have a checked-out copy of the repository on each computer). I keep the main repository on a USB flashdrive. I recently came across the following error when trying to commit a current working copy (and both working copies, one on each computer, are identical now): ! What does “local delete, incoming delete upon update” mean? What is Subversion expecting that I’m not giving it?

    My subversion VM died the other day (host hardware melted) and I had to restore a backed up copy of the vmware server image. The restore went well and the VM is running again on a new host. The problem I have is that my restored repository is at revision 60 but my working copy on my PC is at 66. When I try and commit my working copy I get the following error message. svn: Commit failed (details follow): svn: No such revision 61 What is the best way to force this commit and bring subversion up to the same revision as my working copy?     Greetings, using VS2008 and VisualSVN and seems the VisualSVN folks are religious about updating the client (and their VisualSVN server) to the latest Subversion release. My question is my subversion server is a hosted server and seems to always lag several versions behind the client I use. Should I be concerned about this version "mis-match"? Is there a general rule of thumb about when it is a point to be concerned (like an entire major release behind)? Any sort of mechanism build into either the client, the server or the protocol that prevents something horrible from happening between badly 'paired' clients and servers?
