  • deserializing multiple types from a stream

    - by clanier9
    I have a card game program, and so far, the chat works great back and forth over the TCPClient streams between host and client. I want to make it do this with serializing and deserializing so that I can also pass cards between host and client. I tried to create a separate TCPClient stream for the passing of cards but it didn't work and figured it may be easier to keep one TCPClient stream that gets the text messages as well as cards. So I created a class, called cereal, which has the properties for the cards that will help me rebuild the card from an embedded database of cards on the other end. Is there a way to make my program figure out whether a card has been put in the stream or if it's just text in the stream so I can properly deserialize it to a string or to a cereal? Or should I add a string property to my cereal class and when that property is filled in after deserializing to the cereal, i'll know it's just text (if that field is empty after deserializing i'll know it's a card)? I'm thinking a try catch, where it tries to deserialize to a string, and if it fails it will catch and cast as a cereal. Or am I just way off base with this and should choose another route? I'm using visual studio 2011, am using a binaryformatter, and am new to serializing/deserializing.

  • C# SOCKS proxy service for HTTP requests

    - by Ed
    I'm trying to build a service that will forward HTTP requests from agents like a browser to the Tor service. Problem is, the Tor service only accepts SOCKS4a connections. So my solution is to listen for HTTP requests, get the URL they're requesting, and make a request via Tor with the help of the Starksoft.Net.Proxy library. Then return the response. The library kind of works, but I'm not happy. It returns HTTP headers with the response and it can't handle images. So the responses are messed up. How could I improve my code? I'm very new to network programming. Sorry for the long example. public AnonymiserService(ILogger logger) { try { _logger = logger; _logger.Log("Listening on port {0}...", Properties.Settings.Default.ListeningPort); StartListener(new string[] { string.Format("http://*:{0}/", Properties.Settings.Default.ListeningPort) }); } catch (Exception ex) { _logger.LogError("Exception!", ex); } } private void StartListener(string[] prefixes) { if (!HttpListener.IsSupported) { _logger.LogError("HttpListener isn't supported on this machine!"); return; } HttpListener listener = new HttpListener(); foreach (string s in prefixes) listener.Prefixes.Add(s); while (true) { listener.Start(); IAsyncResult result = listener.BeginGetContext(new AsyncCallback(ListenerCallback), listener); result.AsyncWaitHandle.WaitOne(); } } private void ListenerCallback(IAsyncResult result) { try { // Get HTTP request HttpListener listener = (HttpListener)result.AsyncState; HttpListenerContext context = listener.EndGetContext(result); _logger.Log("Retrieving [{0}]", context.Request.RawUrl); // Create connection // Use Tor as proxy IProxyClient proxyClient = new Socks4aProxyClient("localhost", 9050); TcpClient tcpClient = proxyClient.CreateConnection(context.Request.UserHostName, 80); // Create message // Need to set Connection: close to close the connection as soon as it's done byte[] data = Encoding.UTF8.GetBytes(String.Format("GET {0} HTTP/1.1\r\nHost: {1}\r\nConnection: close\r\n\r\n", context.Request.Url.PathAndQuery, context.Request.UserHostName)); // Send message NetworkStream ns = tcpClient.GetStream(); ns.Write(data, 0, data.Length); // Pass on HTTP response HttpListenerResponse responseOut = context.Response; if (ns.CanRead) { byte[] buffer = new byte[32768]; int read = 0; string responseString = string.Empty; // Read response while ((read = ns.Read(buffer, 0, buffer.Length)) > 0) { responseString += Encoding.UTF8.GetString(buffer, 0, read); } // Remove headers if (responseString.IndexOf("HTTP/1.1 200 OK") > -1) responseString = responseString.Substring(responseString.IndexOf("\r\n\r\n")); // Forward response byte[] byteArray = Encoding.UTF8.GetBytes(responseString); responseOut.OutputStream.Write(byteArray, 0, byteArray.Length); } // Close streams responseOut.OutputStream.Close(); ns.Close(); // Close connection tcpClient.Close(); _logger.Log("Retrieved [{0}]", context.Request.RawUrl); } catch (Exception ex) { _logger.LogError("Exception in ListenerCallback!", ex); } }

  • Cannot decode complete cipher list in .NET SslStream handshake.

    - by karmasponge
    While attempting to move from a 'C' based SSL implementation to C# using the .NET SslStream and we have run into what look like cipher compatibility issues with the .NET SslStream and a AS400 machine we are trying to connect to (which worked previously). When we call SslStream.AuthenticateAsClient it is sending the following: 16 03 00 00 37 01 00 00 33 03 00 4d 2c 00 ee 99 4e 0c 5d 83 14 77 78 5c 0f d3 8f 8b d5 e6 b8 cd 61 0f 29 08 ab 75 03 f7 fa 7d 70 00 00 0c 00 05 00 0a 00 13 00 04 00 02 00 ff 01 00 Which decodes as (based on http://www.mozilla.org/projects/security/pki/nss/ssl/draft302.txt) [16] Record Type [03 00] SSL Version [00 37] Body length [01] SSL3_MT_CLIENT_HELLO [00 00 33] Length (51 bytes) [03 00] Version number = 768 [4d 2c 00 ee] 4 Bytes unix time [… ] 28 Bytes random number [00] Session number [00 0c] 12 bytes (2 * 6 Cyphers)? Have I decoded it correctly? What does, if anything, '00 FF' decode too? Hi I hope I can get all the help i can get here. I am new to mobile phone programming. I find networking very interesting and I have this question: Does Mobile phone like WinMo or other phone have Server:Port scheme and what are the ports ? To show what I mean, I use PC to demonstarte, there are many ports ( restricted and established ). The below is the Server : Port scheme Server : port example WebServer 80 So, to use a TCPListener on PC , I can use any port as long as there are not restricted and establsihed) to listen incoming TcpClient . 2) How do I use a TCPListener and Which portNo I need to use to listen incoming TcpClient from the other end in Net Compact Framework? Thanks

  • StreamWriter does throw exception underlying connection is broken?

    - by Jane
    I am using StreamWriter instantiated over a Tcpstream like this streamWriter = new StreamWriter(tcpClient.GetStream()); I am confused about the behaviour of following calls with regards to Exceptions. The following two functions are expected to raise IOException , Surprisingly they do not raise the IOException when the server is to which the tcpClient is connected is disconnected and therefore the underlying TCP client connection is broken.. These two lines execute without raising any Exception. Why ? streamWriter.WriteLine(strBuffer); streamWriter.Flush();

  • How do i route TCP connections via TOR? [on hold]

    - by acidzombie24
    I was reading about torchat which is essentially an anonymous chat program. It sounded cool so i wanted to experiment with making my own. First i wrote a test to grab a webpage using Http. Sicne .NET doesnt support SOCKS4A/SOCKS5 i used privoxy and my app worked. Then i switch to a TCP echo test and privoxy doesnt support TCP so i searched and installed 6+ proxy apps (freecap, socat, freeproxy, delegate are the ones i can remember from the top of my head, i also played with putty bc i know it supports tunnels and SOCK5) but i couldnt successfully get any of them to work let alone get it running with my http test that privoxy easily and painlessly did. What may i use to get TCP connections going through TOR? I spent more then 2 hours without success. I don't know if i am looking for a relay, tunnel, forwarder, proxy or a proxychain which all came up in my search. I use the config below for .NET. I need TCP working but i am first testing with http since i know i had it working using privoxy. What apps and configs do i use to get TCP going through tor? <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?> <configuration> <system.net> <defaultProxy enabled="true"> <proxy bypassonlocal="True" proxyaddress="http://127.0.0.1:8118"/> </defaultProxy> <settings> <httpWebRequest useUnsafeHeaderParsing="true"/> </settings> </system.net> </configuration> -edit- Thanks to Bernd i have a solution. Here is the code i ended up writing. It isn't amazing but its fair. static NetworkStream ConnectSocksProxy(string proxyDomain, short proxyPort, string host, short hostPort, TcpClient tc) { tc.Connect(proxyDomain, proxyPort); if (System.Text.RegularExpressions.Regex.IsMatch(host, @"[\:/\\]")) throw new Exception("Invalid Host name. Use FQDN such as www.google.com. Do not have http, a port or / in it"); NetworkStream ns = tc.GetStream(); var HostNameBuf = new ASCIIEncoding().GetBytes(host); var HostPortBuf = BitConverter.GetBytes(IPAddress.HostToNetworkOrder(hostPort)); if (true) //5 { var bufout = new byte[128]; var buflen = 0; ns.Write(new byte[] { 5, 1, 0 }, 0, 3); buflen = ns.Read(bufout, 0, bufout.Length); if (buflen != 2 || bufout[0] != 5 || bufout[1] != 0) throw new Exception(); var buf = new byte[] { 5, 1, 0, 3, (byte)HostNameBuf.Length }; var mem = new MemoryStream(); mem.Write(buf, 0, buf.Length); mem.Write(HostNameBuf, 0, HostNameBuf.Length); mem.Write(new byte[] { HostPortBuf[0], HostPortBuf[1] }, 0, 2); var memarr = mem.ToArray(); ns.Write(memarr, 0, memarr.Length); buflen = ns.Read(bufout, 0, bufout.Length); if (bufout[0] != 5 || bufout[1] != 0) throw new Exception(); } else //4a { var bufout = new byte[128]; var buflen = 0; var mem = new MemoryStream(); mem.WriteByte(4); mem.WriteByte(1); mem.Write(HostPortBuf, 0, 2); mem.Write(BitConverter.GetBytes(IPAddress.HostToNetworkOrder(1)), 0, 4); mem.WriteByte(0); mem.Write(HostNameBuf, 0, HostNameBuf.Length); mem.WriteByte(0); var memarr = mem.ToArray(); ns.Write(memarr, 0, memarr.Length); buflen = ns.Read(bufout, 0, bufout.Length); if (buflen != 8 || bufout[0] != 0 || bufout[1] != 90) throw new Exception(); } return ns; } Usage using (TcpClient client = new TcpClient()) using (var ns = ConnectSocksProxy("127.0.0.1", 9050, "website.com", 80, client)) {...}

  • How can I connect to server using SSL(secure socket layer) on .NET Compact Framework

    - by net
    Hello. I want to change .NET framework v3.5 to .NET compact framework v3.5. But I can't change SSL Stream class to compact framework version. For resolving this problem, I already read some article and msdn library. http://blogs.msdn.com/cgarcia/archive/2009/08/21/enable-ssl-for-managed-socket-on-windows-mobile.aspx http://blogs.msdn.com/cgarcia/archive/2009/08/22/getting-a-managed-socket-to-talk-ssl.aspx http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa916117.aspx but I got an error that is "Unkown error 0x0ffffff", when invoking 'socket.connect(endPoint)' method based on thease article. In order to find the proper method, I try to use TcpClient class. but i can't solve this problem. When I try to connect to server on .NET compact framework, TcpClient class didn't work(Smart Device project and windows ce). As you can see below, I've got the error. In other hand, this code is work on .NET framework(C# console project). I can't understand why this socket can not access to server. Thanks for reading my question.

  • Socket errors of 10048 on the client? Possible causes?

    - by Earlz
    Hello, I'm writing a custom TCP server and client and on doing a ton of requests (60,000 to be exact) I begin to get this socket error of 10048, which should mean "the address is already in use." The error keeps happening unless I pause the process for like 2 or 3 minutes and then begin it again, and then it begins to bring up the same error a short while after restarting it. If I pause the client process and restart the server process, I still get the same error on the client. So it is a complete client side problem. This does not make sense though, this error only usually occurs when binding and this error happens on the client and not the server. What could be the possible reasons for it? A small excerpt of my initialization: TcpClient client = new TcpClient(); client.Connect("XXXXX -- some ip", 25000); client.NoDelay = true; NetworkStream clientStream = client.GetStream(); Also, everything else seems to be working fine(including the amount of time it takes to send back and forth) and this works perfectly when using 127.0.0.1 but when putting it on another LAN computer I begin to get the 10048 error. Is there something wrong with how I initialize it? What else could cause this error on the client side?

  • SEO: A whois server that work for .SE domains?

  • Why is this SocketException not caught by a generic catch routine?

    - by Tarnschaf
    Our company provides a network component (DLL) for a GUI application. It uses a Timer that checks for disconnections. If it wants to reconnect, it calls: internal void timClock_TimerCallback(object state) { lock (someLock) { // ... try { DoConnect(); } catch (Exception e) { // Log e.Message omitted // Raise event with e as parameter ErrorEvent(this, new ErrorEventArgs(e)); DoDisconnect(); } // ... } } So the problem is, inside of the DoConnect() routine a SocketException is thrown (and not caught). I would assume, that the catch (Exception e) should catch ALL exceptions but somehow the SocketException was not caught and shows up to the GUI application. protected void DoConnect() { // client = new TcpClient(); client.NoDelay = true; // In the following call the SocketException is thrown client.Connect(endPoint.Address.ToString(), endPoint.Port); // ... (login stuff) } The doc confirmed that SocketException extends Exception. The stacktrace that showed up is: TcpClient.Connect() -> DoConnect() -> timClock_TimerCallback So the exception is not thrown outside the try/catch block. Any ideas why it doesn't work?

  • Attempting to Convert Byte[] into Image... but is there platform issues involved

    - by user305535
    Greetings, Current, I'm attempting to develop an application that takes a Byte Array that is streamed to us from a Linux C language program across a TCPClient (stream) and reassemble it back into an image/jpg. The "sending" application was developed by a off-site developer who claims that the image reassembles back into an image without any problems or errors in his test environment (all Linux)... However, we are not so fortunate. I (believe) we successfully get all of the data sent, storing it as a string (lets us append the stream until it is complete) and then we convert it back into a Byte[]. This appears to be working fine... But, when we take the byte[] we get from the streaming (and our string assembly) and try to convert it into an image using the System.Drawing.Image.FromStream() we get errors.... Anyone have any idea what we're doing wrong? Or, does anyone know if this is a cross-platform issue? We're developing our app for Windows XP and C# .net, but the off-site developer did his work in c and Linux... perhaps there's some difference as to how each Operating System Coverts Images into Byte Arrays? Anyway, here's the code for converting our received ByteArray (from the TCPClient Stream) into an image. This code works when we send an image from a test machine we built that RUNS on XP, but not from the Linux box... System.Text.ASCIIEncoding encoding = new System.Text.ASCIIEncoding(); byte[] imageBytes = encoding.GetBytes(data); MemoryStream ms = new MemoryStream(imageBytes, 0, imageBytes.Length); // Convert byte[] to Image ms.Write(imageBytes, 0, imageBytes.Length); System.Drawing.Image image = System.Drawing.Image.FromStream(ms, false); <-- DIES here, throws a {System.ArgumentException: Parameter is not valid.} error Any advice, suggestions, theories, or HELP would be GREATLY appreciated! Please let me know??? Best wishes all! Thanks in advance! Greg

  • ~1 second TcpListener Pending()/AcceptTcpClient() lag

    - by cpf
    Probably just watch this video: http://screencast.com/t/OWE1OWVkO As you see, the delay between a connection being initiated (via telnet or firefox) and my program first getting word of it. Here's the code that waits for the connection public IDLServer(System.Net.IPAddress addr,int port) { Listener = new TcpListener(addr, port); Listener.Server.NoDelay = true;//I added this just for testing, it has no impact Listener.Start(); ConnectionThread = new Thread(ConnectionListener); ConnectionThread.Start(); } private void ConnectionListener() { while (Running) { while (Listener.Pending() == false) { System.Threading.Thread.Sleep(1); }//this is the part with the lag Console.WriteLine("Client available");//from this point on everything runs perfectly fast TcpClient cl = Listener.AcceptTcpClient(); Thread proct = new Thread(new ParameterizedThreadStart(InstanceHandler)); proct.Start(cl); } } (I was having some trouble getting the code into a code block) I've tried a couple different things, could it be I'm using TcpClient/Listener instead of a raw Socket object? It's not a mandatory TCP overhead I know, and I've tried running everything in the same thread, etc.

  • Port scanning using threadpool

    - by thenry
    I am trying to run a small app that scans ports and checks to see if they are open using and practicing with threadpools. The console window will ask a number and scans ports from 1 to X and will display each port whether they are open or closed. My problem is that as it goes through each port, it sometimes stops prematurely. It doesn't stop at just one number either, its pretty random. For example it I specify 200. The console will scroll through each port then stops at 110. Next time I run it, it stops at 80. Code Left out some of the things, assume all variables are declared where they should. First part is in Main. static void Main(string[] args) { string portNum; int convertedNum; Console.WriteLine("Scanning ports 1-X"); portNum = Console.ReadLine(); convertedNum = Convert.ToInt32(portNum); try { for (int i = 1; i <= convertedNum; i++) { ThreadPool.QueueUserWorkItem(scanPort, i); Thread.Sleep(100); } } catch (Exception e) { Console.WriteLine("exception " + e); } } static void scanPort(object o) { TcpClient scanner = new TcpClient(); try { scanner.Connect("127.0.0.1",(int)o); Console.WriteLine("Port {0} open", o); } catch { Console.WriteLine("Port {0} closed",o); } } }

Our lecturer, used 2 files, the TCPClient.java and TCPServer.java, to make a connection and we typed "Hi" in the client and the server displayed that message. I need to develop a seat booking application. Any suggestions for tutorials or tips or a book perhaps would be nice. Many Thanks

  • Where do I handle asynchronous exceptions?

    - by Jurily
    Consider the following code: class Foo { // boring parts omitted private TcpClient socket; public void Connect(){ socket.BeginConnect(Host, Port, new AsyncCallback(cbConnect), quux); } private void cbConnect(IAsyncResult result){ // blah } } If socket throws an exception after BeginConnect returns and before cbConnect gets called, where does it pop up? Is it even allowed to throw in the background?

  • How do you get the host address and port from a System.Net.EndPoint?

    - by cyclotis04
    I'm using a TcpClient passed to me from a TcpListener, and for the life of me I can't figure out a simple way to get the address and port it's connected to. The best I have so far is _client.Client.RemoteEndPoint.ToString(); which returns a string in the form FFFF::FFFF:FFFF:FFF:FFFF%00:0000. I've managed to extract the address and port using Regular Expressions, but this seems like overkill. What am I missing?

  • XmlSerializer.Deserialize blocks over NetworkStream

    - by Luca
    I'm trying to sends XML serializable objects over a network stream. I've already used this on an UDP broadcast server, where it receive UDP messages from the local network. Here a snippet of the server side: while (mServiceStopFlag == false) { if (mSocket.Available > 0) { IPEndPoint ipEndPoint = new IPEndPoint(IPAddress.Any, DiscoveryPort); byte[] bData; // Receive discovery message bData = mSocket.Receive(ref ipEndPoint); // Handle discovery message HandleDiscoveryMessage(ipEndPoint.Address, bData); ... Instead this is the client side: IPEndPoint ipEndPoint = new IPEndPoint(IPAddress.Broadcast, DiscoveryPort); MemoryStream mStream = new MemoryStream(); byte[] bData; // Create broadcast UDP server mSocket = new UdpClient(); mSocket.EnableBroadcast = true; // Create datagram data foreach (NetService s in ctx.Services) XmlHelper.SerializeClass<NetService>(mStream, s); bData = mStream.GetBuffer(); // Notify the services while (mServiceStopFlag == false) { mSocket.Send(bData, (int)mStream.Length, ipEndPoint); Thread.Sleep(DefaultServiceLatency); } It works very fine. But now i'me trying to get the same result, but on a TcpClient socket, but the using directly an XMLSerializer instance: On server side: TcpClient sSocket = k.Key; ServiceContext sContext = k.Value; Message msg = new Message(); while (sSocket.Connected == true) { if (sSocket.Available > 0) { StreamReader tr = new StreamReader(sSocket.GetStream()); msg = (Message)mXmlSerialize.Deserialize(tr); // Handle message msg = sContext.Handler(msg); // Reply with another message if (msg != null) mXmlSerialize.Serialize(sSocket.GetStream(), msg); } else Thread.Sleep(40); } And on client side: NetworkStream mSocketStream; Message rMessage; // Network stream mSocketStream = mSocket.GetStream(); // Send the message mXmlSerialize.Serialize(mSocketStream, msg); // Receive the answer rMessage = (Message)mXmlSerialize.Deserialize(mSocketStream); return (rMessage); The data is sent (Available property is greater then 0), but the method XmlSerialize.Deserialize (which should deserialize the Message class) blocks. What am I missing?

  • how to cancel an awaiting task c#

    - by user1748906
    I am trying to cancel a task awaiting for network IO using CancellationTokenSource, but I have to wait until TcpClient connects: try { while (true) { token.Token.ThrowIfCancellationRequested(); Thread.Sleep(int.MaxValue); //simulating a TcpListener waiting for request } } any ideas ? Secondly, is it OK to start each client in a separate task ?

  • How to know when the Client is disconnected from Server in C#?

    - by menacheb
    Hi, I have a Client-Server program in C#. Here is the Server's code: ... String dataFromClient = ""; NetworkStream networkStream; TcpClient clientSocket; bool transfer = true; ... while (transfer) { networkStream = clientSocket.GetStream(); networkStream.Read(bytesFrom, 0, (int)clientSocket.ReceiveBufferSize); dataFromClient = System.Text.Encoding.ASCII.GetString(bytesFrom); dataFromClient = dataFromClient.Substring(0, dataFromClient.IndexOf("$")); .... } I want to make a condition that stop the loop when the Client is disconnected. How can I do that? Many thanks,
