    It's possible to create href-attibutes that makes the iPhone quit Safari and launch another app. For the official Twitter-app this would look like: <a href="twitter:///post?message=my+important+message">Click to deliver message to Twitter-apps status updater</a> For the Facebook-app the protocoll is: fb:/// But i can't figure out, or find any information about, how to get my message (a url to share) directly into the the status updater. Is there a url-scheme, or am I going about this the wrong way?

  • How to adding a toolbar (like google traslate) to a webpage opened through a link for saving/process

    Hello, lets say I have bunch of hyperlinks. When link is clicked, I'd like an opened page (in a separate window) to have a google-translator style toolbox that I could use to save the page to a localdisk if I liked it, adding a few tags to the database using php. I understand how to save a file using php, but could You help me with ideas as how to add a toolbar and to send request from toolbar to my processing page?     I have a page that I made that is going to be used for retrieving shipping rates from UPS by entering the weight and zip. Everything works fine but what I want to add to it is the ability for the user to choose something on a form and have it update the value in a different form box. I think this is done with javascript. Any suggestions will help.

  • How do browsers/PHP handle characters outside the set characterset?

    I'm looking into how characters are handled that are outside of the set characterset for a page. In this case the page is set to iso-8859-1, and the previous programmer decided to escape input using htmlentities($string,ENT_COMPAT). This is then stored into Latin1 tables in Mysql. As the table is set to the same character set as the page, I am wondering if that htmlentities step is needed. I did some experiments on http://floris.workingweb.nl/experiments/characters.php and it seems that for stuff inside Latin1 some characters are escaped, but for example with a Czech name they are not. Is this because those characters are outside of Latin1? If so, then the htmlentities can be removed, as it doesn't help for stuff outside of Latin1 anyway, and for within Latin1 it is not needed as far as I can see now...

  • Strange centering problem in Firefox and IE8

    The navigation bar on my site http://hungryathome.net doesn't center properly on Firefox and IE8 Standards mode. It centers properly in IE7 Compatability mode and in Chrome. What's odd is that setting a Margin on the div (id="navlinks") to 4px or more will make it center properly. Any less will result in it being slightly off-center. I changed the values back and forth in Firebug and it's confusing the heck out of me. Any explanation for why that's happening?

    I managed to create a page the crashes IE6 and 7 regularly as per here: http://raven-seo-tools.com/blog/2675/crash-ie6-with-only-css I have a solution for non-IE browsers (display: inline-block), but the only way to get IE6/7 working is to use different CSS (display: inline). Normally I would have other browsers use inline-block, then in a seperate IE67 CSS file I would set display to inline. The problem is IE67 crash as soon as they reach the display: inline-block line, so I need a way to hide this code from IE6 and 7 but not other browsers.

  • possible to auto zoom out if user's resolution < x ?

    my site is aimed purely at the laptop market (dont ask why or argue!), all my users (or 95%+) we on a screen width of 1200+, netbooks are now taking off, with a resolution of 1024 wide. my site still looks great on a netbook if you zoom out once (ctrl-minus), but i don't want to rely on users knowing about ctrl-minus. what are my options besides redesign? I'm keen not to have zoom buttons on my page. is there a javascript zoomer outer?!!!

  • With a browser, how do I know which decimal separator does the client use?

    I'm developing a web application. I need to display some decimal data correctly so that it can be copied and pasted into a certain GUI application that is not under my control. The GUI application is locale sensitive and it accepts only the correct decimal separator which is set in the system. I can guess the decimal separator from Accept-Language and the guess will be correct in 95% cases, but sometimes it fails. Is there any way to do it on server side (preferably, so that I can collect statistics), or on client side? Update: The whole point of the task is doing it automatically. In fact, this webapp is a kind of online interface to a legacy GUI which helps to fill the forms correctly. The kind of users that use it mostly have no idea on what a decimal separator is. The Accept-Language solution is implemented and works, but I'd like to improve it. Update2: I need to retrive a very specific setting: decimal separator set in Control Panel / Regional and Language Options / Regional Options / Customize. I deal with four kinds of operating systems: Russian Windows with a comma as a DS (80%). English Windows with a period as a DS (15%). Russian Windows with a period as a DS to make poorly written English applications work (4%). English Windows with a comma as a DS to make poorly written Russian applications work (1%). All 100% of clients are in Russia and the legacy application deals with Russian goverment-issued forms, so asking for a country will yield 100% of Russian Federation, and GeoIP will yield 80% of Russian Federation and 20% of other, incorrect answers.

  • Using JS to POST a form in an iframe.

    I would like to POST a form in an iframe, generated like so: My JS loads an iframe inside the page, adds a form to the iframe and submits the form. What I would like to happen is the iframe to load the result of that request. So, I would effectively like to post a form and render the result inside the iframe, without touching the parent (apart from putting the iframe up for display in the first place). I am using the code from this answer: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/133925/javascript-post-request-like-a-form-submit/134003#134003 but I can't get it to not reload the parent. I post the form, and instead of the iframe refreshing, the entire parent refreshes. I don't know why that is, since the url it's posting to is different and would at least redirect there. Can anyone help me with this problem? I just want a post inside an iframe and only within the iframe, basically.

  • jQuery if checkbox is checked to toggle classes

    I am needed to change my jQuery code up. Instead of the label toggling the class and showing the icon I need it to where if the checkbox is checked to show to toggle those classes. I have tried prop and is but I couldn't get them to work properly. The reason for the change is I want to preload data into the form and if it's going to be checked those toggles need to reflect that change. http://jsfiddle.net/70fbLooL/2/ EDIT Seems to be confusion as to exactly what I am trying to do. The fiddle I provided works perfectly fine. The problem is if I want to call the form from server-side and pre-populate the form the checkbox toggles will not show that they are checked because it's based on the clicked function. I need it to be based on if the checkbox equal true or checked. That way if the value equals true from the server-side call it will toggle those classes and look like it's checked.

  • Relative links in CSS, after moving Wordpress

    I created a blog with Wordpress on a temporary test domain. I put it in the main directory, not a folder. Now I want to move it to the correct website, in a folder. I can update all of the MySQL values for the site URL, and the relative path links work just fine. The problem is that I can't seem to make my CSS path links work. I realize that my problem is that they are relative to the CSS file, in the WordPress theme, and not the page. But how can I fix this? Here is an example: #topNav {background:#3a93c3 url(wp-content/uploads/2011/07/blueNav.jpg) repeat-x;} I have tried adding './', '../', and '../../' to the beginning, but it doesn't work at all. Any suggestions?

  • Center aligned form with equal width labels

    I have a very simple web form which consists of labels and input fields, however I can not seem to find a way of aligning the form in the center of the page and for the labels to have an equal width so that they appear neatly next to each other, one under the other. The structure of my page is basically: <body> <div class="form"> <form method="post"> <fieldset> <label>Mobile:</label><input type="text" name="msisdn"><br/> <label>Code:</label><input type="text" name="code"><br/> <br/> <input type="image" src="submit-button.gif" alt="Submit"> <br/> <input type="checkbox" name="ts_and_cs"><label> Accept Terms and Conditions</label> <br/><br/> </fieldset> </form> </div> </body> Usually I would fix this by doing float:left on the label fields and setting a width on the labels, however for this I need the labels and input fields to be centered on the page. Also I am not able to set the width of the page (or any containing divs) as the page will be displayed on mobile devices with different screen sizes. Any suggestions as to how best style the form?     I am trying to create a dynamic hyperlink that depends on a value passed from a function: {% for item in field_list %} <a href={% url index_view %}{{ item }}/> {{ item }} </a> <br> {% endfor %} The problem is that one of the items in field_list is "Hockey Player". The link for some reason is dropping everything after the space, so it creates the hyperlink on the entire "Hockey Player", but the address is http://126.0.0.1:8000/Hockey How can I get it to go to http://126.0.0.1:8000/Hockey Player/ instead?
