  • Rails Associations - Callback Sequence/Magic

    - by satynos
Taking following association declaration as an example: class Post has_many :comments end Just by declaring the has_many :comments, ActiveRecord adds several methods of which I am particularly interested in comments which returns array of comments. I browsed through the code and following seems to be the callback sequence: def has_many(association_id, options = {}, &extension) reflection = create_has_many_reflection(association_id, options, &extension) configure_dependency_for_has_many(reflection) add_association_callbacks(reflection.name, reflection.options) if options[:through] collection_accessor_methods(reflection, HasManyThroughAssociation) else collection_accessor_methods(reflection, HasManyAssociation) end end def collection_accessor_methods(reflection, association_proxy_class, writer = true) collection_reader_method(reflection, association_proxy_class) if writer define_method("#{reflection.name}=") do |new_value| # Loads proxy class instance (defined in collection_reader_method) if not already loaded association = send(reflection.name) association.replace(new_value) association end define_method("#{reflection.name.to_s.singularize}_ids=") do |new_value| ids = (new_value || []).reject { |nid| nid.blank? } send("#{reflection.name}=", reflection.class_name.constantize.find(ids)) end end end def collection_reader_method(reflection, association_proxy_class) define_method(reflection.name) do |*params| force_reload = params.first unless params.empty? association = association_instance_get(reflection.name) unless association association = association_proxy_class.new(self, reflection) association_instance_set(reflection.name, association) end association.reload if force_reload association end define_method("#{reflection.name.to_s.singularize}_ids") do if send(reflection.name).loaded? || reflection.options[:finder_sql] send(reflection.name).map(&:id) else send(reflection.name).all(:select => "#{reflection.quoted_table_name}.#{reflection.klass.primary_key}").map(&:id) end end end In this sequence of callbacks, where exactly is the actual SQL being executed for retrieving the comments when I do @post.comments ?

  • Generate JSON object with transactionReceipt

    - by Carlos
Hi, I've been the past days trying to test my first in-app purchse iphone application. Unfortunately I can't find the way to talk to iTunes server to verify the transactionReceipt. Because it's my first try with this technology I chose to verify the receipt directly from the iPhone instead using server support. But after trying to send the POST request with a JSON onbject created using the JSON api from google code, itunes always returns a strange response (instead the "status = 0" string I wait for). Here's the code that I use to verify the receipt: - (void)recordTransaction:(SKPaymentTransaction *)transaction { NSString *receiptStr = [[NSString alloc] initWithData:transaction.transactionReceipt encoding:NSUTF8StringEncoding]; NSDictionary *jsonDictionary = [NSDictionary dictionaryWithObjectsAndKeys:@"algo mas",@"receipt-data",nil]; NSString *jsonString = [jsonDictionary JSONRepresentation]; NSLog(@"string to send: %@",jsonString); NSLog(@"JSON Created"); urlData = [[NSMutableData data] retain]; //NSURL *sandboxStoreURL = [[NSURL alloc] initWithString:@"https://sandbox.itunes.apple.com/verifyReceipt"]; NSMutableURLRequest *request = [NSMutableURLRequest requestWithURL:[NSURL URLWithString:@"https://sandbox.itunes.apple.com/verifyReceipt"]]; [request setHTTPMethod:@"POST"]; [request setHTTPBody:[jsonString dataUsingEncoding:NSUTF8StringEncoding]]; NSLog(@"will create connection"); [[NSURLConnection alloc] initWithRequest:request delegate:self]; } maybe I'm forgetting something in the request's headers but I think that the problem is in the method I use to create the JSON object. HEre's how the JSON object looks like before I add it to the HTTPBody : string to send: {"receipt-data":"{\n\t\"signature\" = \"AUYMbhY ........... D0gIjEuMCI7Cn0=\";\n\t\"pod\" = \"100\";\n\t\"signing-status\" = \"0\";\n}"} The responses I've got: complete response { exception = "java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: Property list parsing failed while attempting to read unquoted string. No allowable characters were found. At line number: 1, column: 0."; status = 21002; } Thanks a lot for your guidance.

  • .Net opening and clossing database connections

    - by Dan
I currently designed the data access portion of our framework so that every time a business object needed to interact with the database it would have to open a connection, invoke the data access layer (to execute the query), and then close the connection. Then if it needed to run in a transaction it would open the connection, begin the transaction, invoke the data access layer (to execute the query) and then commit the transaction, close the transaction, and finally close the connection. I did it this way with the mindset of open late and close early...but what if I needed to call other BO's to submit data in a single transaction? Is there a better way to handle opening and closing connections as well as working with transactions? I'm a rookie at architecting applications so I hope I'm not doing this wrong...any help is appreciated.

  • Grails Mail port configuration

    - by bsreekanth
Hello, I am trying to send mail through grails mail plugin. I configured according to the documentation, and also followed few blog posts (http://blog.lourish.com/2010/04/02/sending-asynchronous-html-email-in-grails-with-activemq-jms-and-gmail/). That post mention that the closure way of declaring the configuration overrides others, but not true. Anyway I tried both approach, but seems like the port is still use the smtp default one. I get the below exception. exception: org.springframework.mail.MailSendException: Mail server connection failed; nested exception is javax.mail.MessagingException: Could not connect to SMTP host: localhost, port: 25; nested exception is: java.net.ConnectException: Connection refused: connect Now, I wrote a small program directly using the java mail library, and I could send the mail with that. The configuration is shown below. tried additional config "mail.smtp.port":"465"", but no change.. used the parameters mentioned in the above blog post, result same grails { mail { host = "smtp.gmail.com" port = "465" username = "[email protected]" password = "mypwd" props = ["mail.smtp.auth":"true", // "mail.smtp.port":"465", "mail.smtp.socketFactory.port":"465", "mail.smtp.socketFactory.class":"javax.net.ssl.SSLSocketFactory", "mail.smtp.socketFactory.fallback":"false"] } } thanks in advance.. Update: It is not port or firewall config, as when I made a grails application from scratch, and tried with the same config, everything works. Also, asked in grails forum http://grails.1312388.n4.nabble.com/grails-mail-mailSender-does-not-have-config-values-td2237704.html#a2237704 . Hope get a lead to try.

  • Instruments memory leak iphone

    - by dubbeat
Hi, I posted this problem a few days ago but it was very muddled and my question wasnt very clear so I removed it. I've been digging around and the memory leak is still persiting. Hopefully this attempt will be clearer. First off I've run the static analyzer and it reports no memory leaks. I then ran Instruments and it pointed to a memory leak at this line of code. As far as I can see there is no memory leak. featured=[[UILabel alloc]initWithFrame:CGRectMake(130,15, 200, 15)]; //[featured setFont:[UIFont UIFontboldSystemFontOfSize:20]]; featured.font = [UIFont boldSystemFontOfSize:20]; featured.backgroundColor= [UIColor clearColor]; featured.textColor=[UIColor blackColor]; featured.text= @"Featured Promo"; [self.view addSubview:featured]; [featured release]; featured=nil; If I comment out the above code Instruments reports another memory leak in another block of code where there is no discernible leak. UIButton *populartbutton = [[UIButton buttonWithType:UIButtonTypeRoundedRect]]; populartbutton.frame = CGRectMake(112, 145, 90, 22); // size and position of button [populartbutton setTitle:@"Popular" forState:UIControlStateNormal]; populartbutton.backgroundColor = [UIColor clearColor]; populartbutton.adjustsImageWhenHighlighted = YES; [populartbutton addTarget:self action:@selector(getpopular:) forControlEvents:UIControlEventTouchUpInside]; [self.view addSubview:populartbutton]; Instruments also says Responsible Library = Core Graphics Responsible Frame = open_handle_to_dylib_path This Is the stack trace. 53 Promo start 52 Promo main /Users/..2/main.m:14 51 UIKit UIApplicationMain 50 UIKit -[UIApplication _run] 49 CoreFoundation CFRunLoopRunInMode 48 CoreFoundation CFRunLoopRunSpecific 47 GraphicsServices PurpleEventCallback 46 UIKit _UIApplicationHandleEvent 45 UIKit -[UIApplication sendEvent:] 44 UIKit -[UIApplication handleEvent:withNewEvent:] 43 UIKit -[UIApplication _reportAppLaunchFinished] 42 QuartzCore CA::Transaction::commit() 41 QuartzCore CA::Context::commit_transaction(CA::Transaction*) 40 QuartzCore CALayerLayoutIfNeeded 39 QuartzCore -[CALayer layoutSublayers] 38 UIKit -[UILayoutContainerView layoutSubviews] 37 UIKit -[UINavigationController _startDeferredTransitionIfNeeded] 36 UIKit -[UINavigationController _startTransition:fromViewController:toViewController:] 35 UIKit -[UINavigationController _layoutViewController:] 34 UIKit -[UINavigationController_computeAndApplyScrollContentInsetDeltaForViewController:] 33 UIKit -[UIViewController contentScrollView] 32 UIKit -[UIViewController view] 31 Promo -[FeaturedLevelViewController viewDidLoad] /Users/..s/FeaturedLevelViewController.m:67 // THIS IS MY CLASS WHERE THE CODE SAMPLES ABOVE ARE FROM 30 UIKit -[UILabel initWithFrame:] 29 UIKit -[UILabel _commonInit] 28 UIKit +[UILabel defaultFont] 27 UIKit +[UIFont systemFontOfSize:] 26 GraphicsServices GSFontCreateWithName 25 CoreGraphics CGFontCreateWithName 24 CoreGraphics CGFontCreateWithFontName 23 CoreGraphics CGFontFinderGetDefault 22 CoreGraphics CGFontGetVTable 21 libSystem.B.dylib pthread_once 20 CoreGraphics load_vtable 19 CoreGraphics load_library 18 CoreGraphics CGLibraryLoadFunction 17 CoreGraphics load_function 16 CoreGraphics open_handle_to_dylib_path 15 libSystem.B.dylib dlopen 14 dyld dlopen 13 dyld dyld::link(ImageLoader*, bool, ImageLoader::RPathChain const&) 12 dyld ImageLoader::link(ImageLoader::LinkContext const&, bool, bool, ImageLoader::RPathChain const&) 11 dyld ImageLoader::recursiveLoadLibraries(ImageLoader::LinkContext const&, bool, ImageLoader::RPathChain const&) 10 dyld dyld::libraryLocator(char const*, bool, char const*, ImageLoader::RPathChain const*) 9 dyld dyld::load(char const*, dyld::LoadContext const&) 8 dyld dyld::loadPhase0(char const*, dyld::LoadContext const&, std::vector<char const*, std::allocator<char const*> >*) 7 dyld dyld::loadPhase1(char const*, dyld::LoadContext const&, std::vector<char const*, std::allocator<char const*> >*) 6 dyld dyld::loadPhase3(char const*, dyld::LoadContext const&, std::vector<char const*, std::allocator<char const*> >*) 5 dyld dyld::loadPhase4(char const*, dyld::LoadContext const&, std::vector<char const*, std::allocator<char const*> >*) 4 dyld dyld::loadPhase5(char const*, dyld::LoadContext const&, std::vector<char const*, std::allocator<char const*> >*) 3 dyld dyld::mkstringf(char const*, ...) 2 dyld strdup 1 dyld malloc 0 libSystem.B.dylib malloc I'm really not too sure how to use this information to fix the problem so any guidance would be appreciated. • jquery ajax using 'addresses' to update url for bookmarking

    - by Jay
$("document").ready(function(){ contM = $('#main-content'); contS = $('#second-content'); $(contM).hide(); $(contS).hide(); function loadURL(url) { console.log("loadURL: " + url); $.post(url,{post_loader: 1},{post_loader: 1}, function(data){ $(contM).html($(data)); $(contM).show(); }); } // Event handlers $.address.init(function(event) { console.log("init: " + $('[rel=address:' + event.value + ']').attr('href')); }).change(function(event) { $.post($('[rel=address:' + event.value + ']').attr('href'), {post_loader: 1}, function(data){ $(contM).html($(data)); $(contM).show(); }); console.log("change"); }) $('.update-main a').click(function(){ loadURL($(this).attr('href')); }); }); I'm using this code to make calls to a server to update the main content of a web page. Everything works fine in Google Chrome, but fails to execute properly in Firefox. The strange thing is that when I have the console open to monitor server communication, the application works fine, only when it is closed do problems occur : the script starts to communicate with the server, but before it receives the data the browser jumps to the source url. any ideas?

  • How to use webbrowser control DocumentCompleted event in C# ?

    - by Margus
Before starting writing this question, i was trying to solve following // 1. navigate to page // 2. wait until page is downloaded // 3. read and write some data from/to iframe // 4. submit (post) form The problem was, that if a iframe exists on a web page, DocumentCompleted event would get fired more then once (after each document has been completed). It was highly likely that program would have tried to read data from DOM that was not completed and naturally - fail. But suddenly while writing this question 'What if' monster inspired me, and i fix'ed the problem, that i was trying to solve. As i failed Google'ing this, i thought it would be nice to post it here. private int iframe_counter = 1; // needs to be 1, to pass DCF test public bool isLazyMan = default(bool); /// <summary> /// LOCK to stop inspecting DOM before DCF /// </summary> public void waitPolice() { while (isLazyMan) Application.DoEvents(); } private void webBrowser1_Navigating(object sender, WebBrowserNavigatingEventArgs e) { if(!e.TargetFrameName.Equals("")) iframe_counter --; isLazyMan = true; } private void webBrowser1_DocumentCompleted(object sender, WebBrowserDocumentCompletedEventArgs e) { if (!((WebBrowser)sender).Document.Url.Equals(e.Url)) iframe_counter++; if (((WebBrowser)sender).Document.Window.Frames.Count <= iframe_counter) {//DCF test DocumentCompletedFully((WebBrowser)sender,e); isLazyMan = false; } } private void DocumentCompletedFully(WebBrowser sender, WebBrowserDocumentCompletedEventArgs e){ //code here } For now at least, my 5m hack seems to be working fine. Maybe i am really failing at querying google or MSDN, but i can not find: "How to use webbrowser control DocumentCompleted event in C# ?"

  • Convert SQLITE SQL dump file to POSTGRESQL

    - by DevX
I've been doing development using SQLITE database with production in POSTGRESQL. I just updated my local database with a huge amount of data and need to transfer a specific table to the production database. SQLITE outputs a table dump in the following format: BEGIN TRANSACTION; CREATE TABLE "courses_school" ("id" integer PRIMARY KEY, "department_count" integer NOT NULL DEFAULT 0, "the_id" integer UNIQUE, "school_name" varchar(150), "slug" varchar(50)); INSERT INTO "courses_school" VALUES(1,168,213,'TEST Name A',NULL); INSERT INTO "courses_school" VALUES(2,0,656,'TEST Name B',NULL); .... COMMIT; How do I convert the above into a POSTGRESQL compatible dump file that I can import into my production server?

  • How to get Passive FTP Working Through an Iptables Firewall?

    - by user1133248
I have an iptables firewall running on a Fedora Linux server that is basically being used as a firewall router and OpenVPN server. That's it. We have been using the same iptables firewall code for YEARS. I did make some changes on 21 December to re-route a mySQL port, but given what has happened I've completely backed those changes out. Sometime after those changes were made and backed out passive FTP, served from a vsftpd process, stopped working. We use a passive ftp client to FLING (that's the name of the ftp client running under Windows! :-) ) images from our remote telescopes to our server. I believe it is something in the firewall code because I can drop the firewall and the FTP file transfer (and connecting to the ftp site with Internet Explorer to see the file list) works. When I raise the iptables firewall, it stops working. Again, this is code that we'd been using for years. However, I felt that maybe there was something I missed, so we had a .bak file from 2009 that I used. Same behavior, passive ftp does not work. So, I went and rebuilt the firewall code line by line to see what line was causing the problem. Everything worked until I put the line -A FORWARD -j DROP in very near the end. Of course, if I am correct, this is the line that basically "turns on" the firewall, saying drop everything except for the exceptions I've made above. However, this line has been in the iptables code probably since 2003. So, I'm at the end of my rope, and I still can't figure out why this has stopped working. I guess I need an expert on iptables configuration. Here is the iptables code (from iptables-save) with comments. # Generated by iptables-save v1.3.8 on Thu Jan 5 18:36:25 2012 *nat # One of the things that I remain ignorant about is what these following three lines # do in both the nat tables (which we're not using on this machine) and the following # filter table. I don't know what the numbers are, but I'm ASSUMING they're port # ranges. # :PREROUTING ACCEPT [7435:551429] :POSTROUTING ACCEPT [6097:354458] :OUTPUT ACCEPT [5:451] COMMIT # Completed on Thu Jan 5 18:36:25 2012 # Generated by iptables-save v1.3.8 on Thu Jan 5 18:36:25 2012 *filter :INPUT ACCEPT [10423:1046501] :FORWARD ACCEPT [0:0] :OUTPUT ACCEPT [15184:16948770] # The following line is for my OpenVPN configuration. -A INPUT -i tun+ -j ACCEPT # In researching this on the Internet I found some iptables code that was supposed to # open the needed ports up. Insofar as I can tell, everything # else seems to work - ssh, telnet, mysql, httpd. -A FORWARD -j DROP -A FORWARD -p icmp -j ACCEPT # The following code is again part of my attempt to put in code that would cause passive # ftp to work. I don't know why iptables-save scattered it about like this. -A OUTPUT -p tcp -m tcp --sport 21 -m state --state ESTABLISHED -j ACCEPT -A OUTPUT -p tcp -m tcp --sport 20 --dport 1024:65535 -m state --state RELATED,ESTABLISHED -j ACCEPT -A OUTPUT -p tcp -m tcp --sport 1024:65535 --dport 1024:65535 -m state --state ESTABLISHED -j ACCEPT COMMIT # Completed on Thu Jan 5 18:36:25 2012 So, with all that prelude, my basic question is: How can I get passive ftp to work behind an iptables firewall? As you can see, I've tried to get it working (again) and tried to do some research on the issue, but have come up...short. Any answers would be appreciated by both me and various variable star astronomers around the world! THANKS! -Richard "Doc" Kinne, American Assoc. of Variable Star Observers, [email protected]

  • Android RestTemplate Ok on emulator but fails on real device

    - by Hossein
I'm using spring RestTemplate and it works perfect on emulator but if I run my app on real device I get HttpMessageNotWritableException ............ nested exception is java.net.SocketException: Broken pipe Here is some lines of my code(keep in mind my app works perfect on emulator) ............ LoggerUtil.logToFile(TAG, "url is [" + url + "]"); LoggerUtil.logToFile(TAG, "NetworkInfo - " + connectivityManager.getActiveNetworkInfo()); ResponseEntity<T> responseEntity = restTemplate.exchange(url, HttpMethod.POST, requestEntity, clazz); ............. I know my device's network works perfect because all other applications on my device are working and also using device browser I'm able to connect to my server so my server is available. My server is up and running and my device is able to connect to my server so why I get java.net.SocketException: Broken pipe ?!!!!!!! Before I call restTemplate.exchange() I log NetworkInfo and it looks ok -type: WIFI -status: CONNECTED/CONNECTED -isAvailable: true Thanks in advance. Update: It is really weird Even if I use HttpURLConnection, it works perfectly on emulator but on real device I get 400 Bad Request Here is my code HttpURLConnection con = null; try { String url = ....; LoggerUtil.logToFile(TAG, "url [" + url + "]" ); con = (HttpURLConnection) new URL(url).openConnection(); con.setRequestMethod("POST"); con.setRequestProperty("Connection", "Keep-Alive"); con.setDoInput(true); con.setDoOutput(true); con.setUseCaches(false); con.connect(); LoggerUtil.logToFile(TAG, "con.getResponseCode is " + con.getResponseCode()); LoggerUtil.logToFile(TAG, "con.getResponseMessage is " + con.getResponseMessage()); } catch(Throwable t){ LoggerUtil.logToFile(TAG, "*** failed [" + t + "]" ); } in log file I see con.getResponseCode is 400 con.getResponseMessage is Bad Request

  • jquery ajax call from link loaded with ajax

The problem I'm having is some content loads with links which are intended to load content into a secondary window. I'm using the .live() method to allow jquery to listen for new links loaded into the primary content div. This works until the .ajax() method is called for these fresh links loaded with ajax, where the method begins, but follows the original link before data can be received. I'm assuming the problem is in the client-side scripting, but it may be a problem with the call made to the server. I'm using the wordpress loop to parse the url and generate the html loaded via jquery. Thanks for any tips!

  • Mysql table comment increase length. Is this a bug?

    - by Victor Kimura
Hi, I read the mysql table lengths questions on stackoverflow on here: questions/391323/table-comment-length-in-mysql questions/2473934/how-to-increase-mysql-table-comments-length The first link suggests that it can be done and the second suggests it cannot. I don't know why there is this limitation as the comments are very useful. Imagine if there was a limit of 60 characters for your programs. I wrote about this on my site and have some snapshots to the phpmyadmin and Dbforge MySQL IDEs: http://mysql.tutorialref.com/mysql-table-comment-length-limit.html Is there a way to change this in phpmyadmin or perhaps even on the CLI? There is a bug commit report from MySQL on this particular problem (follow the link from the stackoverflow (first link). It seems to state that the length problem is fixed. I have MySQL 5.1.42. • Mvc2 validation summary and required metadata

    - by Arnis L.
source code... Thing is, if i specify required metadata using fluent modelmetadata provider like this= public class Foo { public string Bar { get; set; } } public class FooModelMetadataConfiguration : ModelMetadataConfiguration<Foo> { public FooModelMetadataConfiguration() { Configure(x => x.Bar) .Required("lapsa") ; } } And write this into my view = <% Html.BeginForm(); %> <%= Html.ValidationSummary() %> <%= Html.TextBoxFor(x=>x.Bar) %> <% Html.EndForm(); %> And add this to home controller = [HttpPost] public ActionResult Index(Foo foo) { ViewData["Message"] = "Welcome to ASP.NET MVC!"; return View(foo); } It will output this html = <div class="validation-summary-errors"> <ul> <li>lapsa</li> <li>The Bar field is required.</li> </ul> </div> I can't understand why 2nd error is rendered and how to omit it. Author of System.Web.Mvc.Extensibility framework replied with = I think this is a known issue of asp.net mvc, i could not remember the exact location where I have read it, I suggest you post the issue in asp.net mvc issue tracker over codeplex. But before i post anything on issue tracker - i would like to understand first what exactly is wrong. Any help with that?

  • Asp.net MVC jQuery Ajax calls to JsonResult return no data

    - by Maslow
I have this script loaded on a page: (function() { window.alert('bookmarklet started'); function AjaxSuccess(data, textStatus, xmlHttpRequest) { if (typeof (data) == 'undefined') { return alert('Data is undefined'); } alert('ajax success' + (data || ': no data')); } function AjaxError(xmlHttpRequest, textStatus, errorThrown) { alert('ajax failure:' + textStatus); } /*imaginarydevelopment.com/Sfc*/ var destination = { url: 'http://localhost:3041/Bookmarklet/SaveHtml', type: 'POST', success: AjaxSuccess, error: AjaxError, dataType: 'text',contentType: 'application/x-www-form-urlencoded' }; if (typeof (jQuery) == 'undefined') { return alert('jQuery not defined'); } if (typeof ($jq) == 'undefined') { if (typeof ($) != 'undefined') { $jq = $; } else { return alert('$jq->jquerify not defined'); } } if ($jq('body').length <= 0) { return alert('Could not query body length'); } if ($jq('head title:contains(BookmarkletTest)').length > 0) { alert('doing test'); destination.data = { data: 'BookmarkletTestAjax' }; $jq.ajax(destination); return; } })(); when it is run locally in VS2008's cassini the ajax success shows the returned string from Asp.net MVC, when it is run remotely the ajax success data is null. Here's the controller method that is firing both locally and when run remotely: [AcceptVerbs(HttpVerbs.Post | HttpVerbs.Get)] public string SaveHtml(string data) { var path = getPath(Server.MapPath); System.IO.File.WriteAllText(path,data); Console.WriteLine("SaveHtml called"); Debug.WriteLine("SaveHtml called"); //return Json(new { result = "SaveHtml Success" }); return "SaveHtml Success"; } Once i have it working I was going to remove the GET, but currently accessing the SaveHtml method directly from the webbrowser produces the expected results when testing. So there's something wrong in my javascript I believe, because when I step through there with chrome's developer tools, I see the data is null, and the xmlHttpRequest doesn't appear to have the expected result in it anywhere either. I'm loading jquery via http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1/jquery.min.js

  • How to use NInject (or other DI / IoC container) with the model binder in ASP.NET MVC 2 ?

    - by Andrei Rinea
Let's say I have an User entity and I would want to set it's CreationTime property in the constructor to DateTime.Now. But being a unit test adopter I don't want to access DateTime. Now directly but use an ITimeProvider : public class User { public User(ITimeProvider timeProvider) { // ... this.CreationTime = timeProvider. Now; } // ..... } public interface ITimeProvider { public DateTime Now { get; } } public class TimeProvider : ITimeProvider { public DateTime Now { get { return DateTime. Now; } } } I am using NInject 2 in my ASP.NET MVC 2.0 application. I have a UserController and two Create methods (one for GET and one for POST). The one for GET is straight forward but the one for POST is not so straight and not so forward :P because I need to mess with the model binder to tell it to get a reference of an implementation of ITimeProvider in order to be able to construct an user instance. public class UserController : Controller { [HttpGet] public ViewResult Create() { return View(); } [HttpPost] public ActionResult Create(User user) { // ... } } I would also like to be able to keep all the features of the default model binder. Any chance to solve this simple/elegant/etc? :D

  • Eclipse: What is the minimum Eclipse installation needed for a headless PDE build?

    - by Christoph
Hi, I am currently using PDE build in headless mode to build my OSGI Bundle project. The PDE Antrunner task uses an Eclipse installation and I am just pointing it to my local Eclipse installation. unfortunatelly my eclipse installation is about 260MB big, but I assume that a PDE build does NOT require all of those plugins in a standard eclipse installation. Does anyone now what is the minimum list of plugins I need for doing a headless PDE build? All of my dependencies I actually have in a custom target platform folder, so I guess the only thing I need from my eclipse installation are the dependencies which PDE build actually needs. But what are those? Can I shrink my installation to a very minimum? My goal is to also check-in this "build-eclipse" folder into my project's SVN so that when you check it out, you have everything you need to start a full build, without touching any build.properties. But I don't want to commit 266MB of eclipse if I maybe need only 20MB of it. Thanks Christoph

  • Automated testing with Ruby on Rails - best practices

    - by randombits
Curious, what are you folks doing in as far as automating your unit tests with ruby on rails? Do you create a script that run a rake job in cron and have it mail you results? a pre-commit hook in git? just manual invokation? I understand tests completely, but wondering what are best practices to catch errors before they happen. Let's take for granted that the tests themselves are flawless and work as they should. What's the next step to make sure they reach you with the potentially detrimental results at the right time?

  • Which is more user friendly: TortoiseGIT or TortoiseHG?

    - by hamishmcn
I have been experimenting with using Mercurial and TortoiseHG to track my work when I am working remotely (with a slow VPN I don't want to commit to SVN unless I have something that works). I have found TortoiseHG a bit hard to use - or at least it often doesn't work the way I expect it to, so I am considering switching to GIT and TortoiseGIT. (For example I had problems rolling back source code to an earlier version and I still don't know what I did wrong) My question whether they have a similar level of functionality / user friendliness or whether one is better than the other. What has your experience been?

  • update table using cursor but also update records in another table

    - by Bucket
I'm updating the IDs with new IDs, but I need to retain the same ID for the master record in table A and its dependents in table B. The chunk bracketed by comments is the part I can't figure out. I need to update all the records in table B that share the same ID with the current record I'm looking at for table A. DECLARE CURSOR_A CURSOR FOR SELECT * FROM TABLE_A FOR UPDATE OPEN CURSOR_A FETCH NEXT FROM CURSOR_A WHILE @@FETCH_STATUS = 0 BEGIN BEGIN TRANSACTION UPDATE KEYMASTERTABLE SET RUNNING_NUMBER=RUNNING_NUMBER+1 WHERE TRANSACTION_TYPE='TABLE_A_NEXT_ID' -- FOLLOWING CHUNK IS WRONG!!! • Get the currently saved object in a view in Django

    - by mridang
Hi, I has a Django view which is accessed through an AJAX call. It's a pretty simple one — all it does is simply pass the request to a form object and save the data. Here's a snippet from my view: form = AddSiteForm(request.user, request.POST) if form.is_valid(): obj = form.save(commit=False) obj.user = request.user obj.save() data['status'] = 'success' data['html'] = render_to_string('site.html', locals(), context_instance=RequestContext(request)) return HttpResponse(simplejson.dumps(data), mimetype='application/json') How do I get the currently saved object (including the internally generated id column) and pass it to the template? Any help guys? Mridang

  • Do MSDTC and disaster recovery go together?

    - by DevDelivery
Our application writes to multiple Sql Server databases within a distributed transaction. The Ops guys are saying that this messes up their disaster recovery plan because while the transactions on the live tables may commit at the same time, the log shipping on the separate databases happen at slightly different times. So in in a disaster recovery situation, there will be a few partial transactions. Is there a method for maintaining separate but synced databases in DR? Or do we have to re-design to relatively independent databases (or a single database)?

  • Android: ContentObserver selfChange

    - by mattprecious
    Hi, In the ContentObserver class, the method onChange is passed a boolean selfChange that's defined as: "true if the update was caused by a call to commit on the cursor that is being observed." What's the proper way to update the cursor so that selfChange is set to true? My current code doesn't reference the cursor at all for an update and selfChange is always false as a result. ContentValues values = new ContentValues(); values.put("date", date.getTime()); getContentResolver().update(URI, values, "_id = " + id, null);

  • Git repository is out of sync after rebase

    - by Keyo
I have squashed 2 commits (A and B) into one new commit (C). The previous two commits (A and B) where removed. I pushed these commits from my development repo to a central(bare) repository. The git-log on both repos confirms that commits A and B have been removed. The problem is when I do a pull on a third repository which already had (A and B) it now has all three commits (A, B and C). I would have thought the pull would synchronise these changes. Do I need to checkout A~1 and then merge in the new changes? This seems like a hassle, especially in a production environment.
