  • posting twitter status whilst receiving tweets iphone mgtwitterengine

    - by d4ndym1k3
i have set up a twitter client on my iphone using mgtwitterengine. i've managed to set it up so i can tweet and recieve status updates. using the standard set up you can only receive between 10&20 updates. to be able to receive more updates then that you have to put[_engine getFollowedTimelineSinceID:0 startingAtPage:0 count:50]; but this does not allow you to get more than the original amount untill you activateif (params) { fullPath = [self _queryStringWithBase:fullPath parameters:params prefixed:YES]; } in SA_OAuthTwitterEngine.m. my problem is when i do this i can no longer post a new status from my app. i can have upto 200 statuses in the stream but no posting capabilities. this is the error:Error Domain=HTTP Code=401 "The operation couldn’t be completed. (HTTP error 401.)" any help would be appreciated. many thanks in advance

  • Help with Ruby Date Compare

    - by Kevin
Yes, I've read and done teh Google many times but I still can't get this working... maybe I'm an idiot :) I have a system using tickets. Start date is "created_at" in the timestamps. Each ticket closes 7 days after "created_at". In the model, I'm using: def closes (self.created_at + 7.days) end I'm trying to create another method that will take "closes" and return it as how many days, hours, minutes, and seconds are left before the ticket closes. Anyone want to help and/or admonish my skills? ;)

  • TabBar implementation issue in iphone

    - by iPhoneDev
Hi, My project is navigation based template and it was running fine until I made changes in some child view. I need to add 4 Tab in some child view. So what I did is create a TabBarController programmatically on ViewDidLoad as: // (void)viewDidLoad { [super viewDidLoad]; helpView = [[HelpView alloc] initWithNibName:@"HelpView" bundle:nil]; settingView = [[SettingView alloc] initWithNibName:@"SettingView" bundle:nil]; tabBarController = [[UITabBarController alloc] init]; tabBarController.viewControllers = [NSArray arrayWithObjects:helpView, settingView, nil]; [self.view addSubview:[tabBarController view]]; } I am able to add two view in tab bar but not Tab Title. Please let me know what I am missing to display Title on tab button. ( Is a NavigationBased project) Thanks

  • Cocoa window position anomaly

    - by Marius
Hello everyone, I have a weird problem with positioning a window on screen. I want to center the window on the screen, but i don't know how to do that. Here's what i've got. The window is created from nib by the main controller: IdentFormController *ftf = [[IdentFormController alloc] initWithWindowNibName:@"IdentForm"]; [[ftf window] makeKeyAndOrderFront:self]; Now the IdentFormController has awakeFromNib() method in which it tries to position the window. For the sake of simplicity i've just tried to do setFrameOrigin(NSMakePoint(0, 0)). What happens is as follows: The first time i create this window, everything works as expected. But if i create it again after releasing the previous, it starts appearing at random positions. Why does it do that?

  • MSCT Certification, Exam 70-536, your advices?

    - by Philippe
At the beginning of the year, I was proposed by my company to take some MS certification exams. Since then, they generously paid for the Self-Paced Training Kit book. I was promised to have some time to study, but the project is running late (a habit around here). Let's face it, I'll have to study on my own time to get this certification. Anyway, my question is simple: what advices do you have in order to study effectively? I'm halfway trough the book, and I feel like I don't remember anything. Especially when the questions are so precise on classes name and parameters...

  • Add C pointer to NSMutableArray

    - by Georges Oates Larsen
I am writing an Objective-C program that deals with low level image memory. I am using ANSI-C structs for my data storage -- Full blown objects seem overkill seeing as the data I am storing is 100% data, with no methods to operate on that data. Specifically, I am writing a customizable posterization algorithm which relies on an array of colors -- This is where things get tricky. I am storing my colors as structs of three floats, and an integer flag (related to the posterization algorithm specifically). Everyhting is going well, except for one thing... [actual question] I can't figure out how to add pointers to an NSMutableArray! I know how to add an object, but adding a pointer to a struct seems to be more difficult -- I do not want NSMutableArray dereferencing my pointer and treating the struct as some sort of strange object. I want NSMutableArray to add the pointer its self to its collection. How do I go about doing this? Thanks in advance, G

  • Animated status bar style transition, a la iPod app

    - by Ben Williamson
In the iPod app, the navigation views have the default status bar style, and the Now Playing view is in the black style. The transition between them is animated with a crossfade. I want to do that. My first attempt: [UIView beginAnimations:@"whatever" context:nil]; [UIView setAnimationDuration:0.5]; self.navigationController.navigationBar.barStyle = UIBarStyleBlack; [UIApplication sharedApplication].statusBarStyle = UIStatusBarStyleBlack [UIView commitAnimations]; No joy, it pops to black. Takers?

  • Load resources? - wxPython / Python

    - by Francisco Aleixo
Hello everyone. I am using wxPython and Py2exe to create my application and my only problem is loading for example bitmaps. Ok so lets say I want to add an image to my application, and thats fairly easy using wxPython, and lets say it is on the same directory of my .py so for example: image = wx.StaticBitmap(self, -1, wx.Bitmap('image.bmp') Now, this works obviously fine, problem is when I convert to Py2exe, I would like to use the resources from the dlls that I included in the Py2Exe compilation. So basically what I want to do is to instead of including the images on the same folder as my application in order to work, I would like to use it from the resources so people won't see the images on the folder.

  • How to convert a .NET WebService-Method-Result (Soap) into its original datatype?

    - by Marc
Hello everyone. I have two "identical" webservices (Soap) on two different servers. Don't ask why :-) WebService-1 decides if it handels the request itself or if it passes the request to WebService-2. If so, the response of WebService-2 should directly be returned from WebService-1. The response datatype is complex and self defined. With simple datatypes like 'int or 'string' there would be no problem. The response of WebService-2 is a serialized object (I think it is called "stubs") and theredore it is not possibel to pass this object through as the response of WebService-1 because the type of the objects doesn't match. Is there a simple way to convert the serialised datatype into its original type without buiding a complex converter?

  • Implementing a 'Send Feedback' feature in a Java desktop application

    - by William
I would like to implement a 'Send Feedback' option in a Java desktop application. One which will pop up a box for the user to enter a comment, then send it to us along with a screenshot of the application window. How would be the best way to communicate the data to us? Two obvious solutions spring to mind: Email - I'm thinking that the application would connect to an SMTP server set-up by us, with the username/password somehow hidden in the code. SMTP over SSL for security (not of the data being sent, but of the SMTP username/password). Web service - pretty self explanatory. Which of these would be best, or is there a better alternative?

  • UIButton custom font vertical alignment

    - by Willshaw Media
I've got a UIButton which uses a custom font, which is set when my view loads: - (void)viewDidLoad { [super viewDidLoad]; self.searchButton.titleLabel.font = [UIFont fontWithName: @"FONTNAME" size: 15.0 ]; } The problem I've got is that the font is appearing to float up of the center line. If I comment out this line, the default font appears vertically centered fine. But changing to the custom font breaks the vertical alignment. I'm getting the same issue on a Table Cell with a custom font too. Do I need to tell the view somewhere that the custom font is not as tall as other fonts? EDIT: I've just realized that the font I'm using is a Windows TrueType Font. I can use it fine in TextEdit on the Mac, only a problem with the alignment in my App

  • Blurred PNGs on UIView, using Interface Builder

    - by Christopher Stamper
Hey everyone, I've added some UIImageViews with png images to my view, using interface builder. Initially they are added off-screen. Later, I animate them onto the screen with CoreAnimation, like so: [UIView beginAnimations:@"slide" context:nil]; [UIView setAnimationDuration:0.1f]; [UIView setAnimationCurve:UIViewAnimationCurveEaseInOut]; [UIView setAnimationDelegate:self]; image.frame = CGRectMake(81+1, 390, 150, 80); [UIView commitAnimations]; Once they appear onscreen, they look really blurred or fuzzy. I've heard of this happening before. Does anyone have any idea how to fix it?

  • Django Admin: Many-to-Many listbox doesn't show up with a through parameter

    - by NP
    Hi All, I have the following models: class Message(models.Model): date = models.DateTimeField() user = models.ForeignKey(User) thread = models.ForeignKey('self', blank=True, null=True) ... class Forum(models.Model): name = models.CharField(max_length=24) messages = models.ManyToManyField(Message, through="Message_forum", blank=True, null=True) ... class Message_forum(models.Model): message = models.ForeignKey(Message) forum = models.ForeignKey(Forum) status = models.IntegerField() position = models.IntegerField(blank=True, null=True) tags = models.ManyToManyField(Tag, blank=True, null=True) In the admin site, when I go to add/change a forum, I don't see the messages listbox as you'd expect. However, it shows up if I remove the 'through' parameter in the ManyToManyField declaration. What's up with that? I've registered all three models (plus Tag) to the admin site in admin.py. TIA

  • iPhone - UIView Animation not looping correctly

    - by Robert
Hey all, got a little problem here and can't figure out what I am doing wrong. I am trying to animate a UIView up and down repeatedly. When I start it, it goes down correctly and then back up but then immediately shoots to the "final" position of the animation. Code is as follows: UIImageView *guide = [[UIImageView alloc] initWithImage:[UIImage imageNamed:@"image.png"]]; guide.frame = CGRectMake(250, 80, 30, 30); [self.view addSubview:guide]; [UIView beginAnimations:nil context:nil]; [UIView setAnimationCurve:UIViewAnimationCurveEaseInOut]; [UIView setAnimationDuration:2]; [UIView setAnimationRepeatAutoreverses:YES]; [UIView setAnimationBeginsFromCurrentState:YES]; guide.frame = CGRectMake(250, 300, 30, 30); [UIView setAnimationRepeatCount:10]; [UIView commitAnimations]; Thanks in advance!

  • Accepting drag operations in an NSCollectionView subclass

    - by andyvn22
    I've subclassed NSCollectionView and I'm trying to receive dragged files from the Finder. I'm receiving draggingEntered: and returning an appropriate value, but I'm never receiving prepareForDragOperation: (nor any of the methods after that in the process). Is there something obvious I'm missing here? Code: - (void)awakeFromNib { [self registerForDraggedTypes:[NSArray arrayWithObjects:NSFilenamesPboardType, nil]]; } - (NSDragOperation)draggingEntered:(id <NSDraggingInfo>)sender { NSLog(@"entered"); //Happens NSPasteboard *pboard; NSDragOperation sourceDragMask; sourceDragMask = [sender draggingSourceOperationMask]; pboard = [sender draggingPasteboard]; if ([[pboard types] containsObject:NSFilenamesPboardType]) { NSLog(@"copy"); //Happens return NSDragOperationCopy; } return NSDragOperationNone; } - (BOOL)prepareForDragOperation:(id <NSDraggingInfo>)sender { NSLog(@"prepare"); //Never happens return YES; }

  • Executing a dynamically bound function in Clojure

    - by Carl Smotricz
I'd like to pre-store a bunch of function calls in a data structure and later evaluate/execute them from within another function. This works as planned for functions defined at namespace level with defn (even though the function definition comes after my creation of the data structure) but will not work with functions defined by let [name (fn or letfn inside the function. Here's my small self-contained example: (def todoA '(funcA)) (def todoB '(funcB)) (def todoC '(funcC)) (def todoD '(funcD)) ; unused (defn funcA [] (println "hello funcA!")) (declare funcB funcC) (defn runit [] (let [funcB (fn [] (println "hello funcB"))] (letfn [(funcC [] (println "hello funcC!"))] (funcA) (eval todoA) ; OK (funcB) ; OK (eval todoB) ; "Unable to resolve symbol: funcB in this context" at line 2 (funcC) ; OK (eval todoC) ; "Unable to resolve symbol: funcC in this context" at line 3 ))) Is there a simple fix I could undertake to get eval'd quoted calls to functions to work for functions defined inside another function?

  • python class attribute

    - by chnet
Hi, i have a question about class attribute in python. class base : def __init__ (self): pass derived_val = 1 t1 = base() t2 = base () t2.derived_val +=1 t2.__class__.derived_val +=2 print t2.derived_val # its value is 2 print t2.__class__.derived_val # its value is 3 The results are different. I also use id() function to find t2.derived_val and t2.class.derived_val have different memory address. My problem is derived_val is class attribute. Why it is different in above example? Is it because the instance of class copy its own derived_val beside the class attribute?

  • How to load a NIB inside of a view in another NIB?

    - by Sheehan Alam
I have two NIB's ParentViewController.xib ChildViewController.xib ParentViewController.xib contains a UIView and a UIViewController. ChildViewController.xib contains a UIButton I want ChildViewController.xib to load in the ParentViewController.xib's UIView I have done the following: Created @property for UIView in ParentViewController Connected File's Owner to UIView in ParentViewController Set UIViewController in ParentViewController's NIB Name property to ChildViewController in Interface Builder Set ChildViewController view property to UIView in ParentViewController I was hoping this would load ChildViewController into my UIView in ParentViewController but no luck. I did get the following warning, which could be the culprit: 'View Controller (Child View)' has both its 'NIB Name' property set and its 'view' outlet connected. This configuration is not supported. I also have added additional code in ParentViewController's viewDidLoad(): - (void)viewDidLoad { [super viewDidLoad]; ChildViewController *childViewController = [[ChildViewController alloc]initWithNibName:@"ChildViewController" bundle:nil]; childViewController.view = self.myView; } Any thoughts on why ChildViewController does not load in the UIView of ParentViewController?

  • iPhone not returning to application after calling eMail send

    - by Bill
    I am sending an email from within my iPhone application. The eMail page pops up ok, I click on the Send button, the iPhone plays a whoosh sound, and the eMail actually arrives at the recipient. Unfortunately, the mail dialog still sits there unresponsive, and the only option - to click the home button - kills the app. Is there something else that needs to be specified to close the eMailMessage view? MFMailComposeViewController *eMailMessage; NSArray *toAddress; if ([MFMailComposeViewController canSendMail]) { toAddress = [NSArray arrayWithObject:@"[email protected]"]; eMailMessage = [[MFMailComposeViewController alloc] init]; [eMailMessage setToRecipients:toAddress]; [eMailMessage setSubject:@"Notification"]; [eMailMessage setMessageBody:@"Performed by ..." isHTML:NO]; [self presentModalViewController:eMailMessage animated:YES]; [eMailMessage release]; }

  • Iterating 'Active' View Controllers

    - by ISDi
Ola Folks, In an iPhone application I am displaying different views by using the addSubView:SomeViewController.view method. I want to be able to, at the very least, log the view controllers that are in the view hierarchy that is being displayed. I would prefer to be able to get a handle to a specific view controller. I know how to iterate the views, I just do not see how to access the view controllers of those views. I am looking for something that will give me the type of access to the view controllers that UINavigationController::ViewControllers does. I thought I could get away with: for (UIViewController* oVC in [self.view subviews]) but this is not having the intended effect. If someone has a way of doing this, please share it with me. -isdi-

  • Sending information back from delegate [iPhone]

    - by Andy
I'm using NSXMLParser in my RootViewController.m file. NSXMLParser *xmlParser = [[NSXMLParser alloc] initWithData:response_data]; [xmlParser setDelegate:self]; [xmlParser parse]; [xmlParser release]; I'm also implementing this method to add entries to a dictionary defined in RootViewController.m for later use: - (void)parser:(NSXMLParser *)parser didStartElement:(NSString *)elementName namespaceURI:(NSString *)namespaceURI qualifiedName:(NSString *)qualifiedName attributes:(NSDictionary *)attributeDict However, I'd like to get more than one XML file and do different things when the file has finished; this sounds like I need to use external files as delegates. My question is: If I have the following implementation files (& their header files): RootViewController.m XMLDelegate1.m XMLDelegate2.m and set the ith NSXMLParser delegate to be XMLDelegatei.m, and get those files to return an NSDictionary that I can then add to the NSDictionary defined in RootViewController.m. I guess there are two methods of doing this: Use a method that I don't know about; or Use a better workflow I suspect it's 2, but hope it's 1. Thanks, Andy

  • Getting publish_stream extended permission from the user

    - by José Joel.
I was ussing Facbook connect in my iPhone app, but in december the posts stopped working. After some research I found that i'm supossed to use stream.publish, something like: NSString *att = @"{\"bob\":\"i\'m happy\",\"caption\": \"User rated the internet 5 stars\", \"description\": \"a giant cat\"}"; NSDictionary *attachment = [NSDictionary dictionaryWithObject:att forKey:@"attachment"]; [[FBRequest requestWithDelegate:self] call:@"facebook.stream.publish" params:attachment]; Which i think it's correct, but the posts still don't work. Someone told me that i need to get publish_stream extended permission from the user, but i dont know how to do that.

  • Can you explain what's going on in this Ruby code?

    - by samoz
I'm trying to learn Ruby as well as Ruby on Rails right now. I'm following along with Learning Rails, 1st edition, but I'm having a hard time understanding some of the code. I generally do work in C, C++, or Java, so Ruby is a pretty big change for me. I'm currently stumped with the following block of code for a database migrator: def self.up create_table :entries do |t| t.string :name t.timestamps end end Where is the t variable coming from? What does it actually represent? Is it sort of like the 'i' in a for(i=0;i<5;i++) statement? Also, where is the :entries being defined at? (entries is the name of my controller, but how does this function know about that?)

  • Lua metatable Objects cannot be purge from memory?

    - by Prometheus3k
Hi there, I'm using a proprietary platform that reported memory usage in realtime on screen. I decided to use a Class.lua I found on http://lua-users.org/wiki/SimpleLuaClasses However, I noticed memory issues when purging object created by this using a simple Account class. Specifically, I would start with say 146k of memory used, create 1000 objects of a class that just holds an integer instance variable and store each object into a table. The memory used is now 300k I would then exit, iterating through the table and setting each element in the table to nil. But would never get back the 146k, usually after this I am left using 210k or something similar. If I run the load sequence again during the same session, it does not exceed 300k so it is not a memory leak. I have tried creating 1000 integers in a table and setting these to nil, which does give me back 146k. In addition I've tried a simpler class file (Account2.lua) that doesn't rely on a class.lua. This still incurs memory fragmentation but not as much as the one that uses Class.lua Can anybody explain what is going on here? How can I purge these objects and get back the memory? here is the code --------Class.lua------ -- class.lua -- Compatible with Lua 5.1 (not 5.0). --http://lua-users.org/wiki/SimpleLuaClasses function class(base, ctor) local c = {} -- a new class instance if not ctor and type(base) == 'function' then ctor = base base = nil elseif type(base) == 'table' then -- our new class is a shallow copy of the base class! for i,v in pairs(base) do c[i] = v end c._base = base end -- the class will be the metatable for all its objects, -- and they will look up their methods in it. c.__index = c -- expose a ctor which can be called by () local mt = {} mt.__call = function(class_tbl,...) local obj = {} setmetatable(obj,c) if ctor then ctor(obj,...) else -- make sure that any stuff from the base class is initialized! if base and base.init then base.init(obj,...) end end return obj end c.init = ctor c.instanceOf = function(self, klass) local m = getmetatable(self) while m do if m == klass then return true end m = m._base end return false end setmetatable(c,mt) return c end --------Account.lua------ --Import Class template require 'class' local classname = "Account" --Declare class Constructor Account = class(function(acc, balance) --Instance variables declared here. if(balance ~= nil)then acc.balance = balance else --default value acc.balance = 2097 end acc.classname = classname end) --------Account2.lua------ local account2 = {} account2.classname = "unnamed" account2.balance = 2097 -----------Constructor 1 do local metatable = { __index = account2; } function Account2() return setmetatable({}, metatable); end end --------Main.lua------ require 'Account' require 'Account2' MAX_OBJ = 5000; test_value = 1000; Obj_Table = {}; MODE_ACC0 = 0 --integers MODE_ACC1 = 1 --Account MODE_ACC2 = 2 --Account2 TEST_MODE = MODE_ACC0; Lua_mem = ""; print("##1) collectgarbage('count'): " .. collectgarbage('count')); function Load() for i=1, MAX_OBJ do if(TEST_MODE == MODE_ACC0 )then table.insert(Obj_Table, test_value); elseif(TEST_MODE == MODE_ACC1 )then table.insert(Obj_Table, Account(test_value)); --Account.lua elseif(TEST_MODE == MODE_ACC2 )then table.insert(Obj_Table, Account2()); --Account2.lua Obj_Table[i].balance = test_value; end end print("##2) collectgarbage('count'): " .. collectgarbage('count')); end function Purge() --metatable purge if(TEST_MODE ~= MODE_ACC0)then --purge stage 0: print("set each elements metatable to nil") for i=1, MAX_OBJ do setmetatable(Obj_Table[i], nil); end end --purge stage 1: print("set table element to nil") for i=1, MAX_OBJ do Obj_Table[i] = nil; end --purge stage 2: print("start table.remove..."); for i=1, MAX_OBJ do table.remove(Obj_Table, i); end print("...end table.remove"); --purge stage 3: print("create new object_table {}"); Obj_Table= {}; --purge stage 4: print("collectgarbage('collect')"); collectgarbage('collect'); print("##3) collectgarbage('count'): " .. collectgarbage('count')); end --Loop callback function OnUpdate() collectgarbage('collect'); Lua_mem = collectgarbage('count'); end ------------------- --NOTE: --On start of game runs Load(), another runs Purge() --Update I've updated the code with suggestions from comments below, and will post my findings later today.

Are there any good resources/tutorials on achieving this, apart from looking at code and design documentations of the existing VMs? Thanks in advance for your answers and ideas Edit: why close vote? I don't understand - is this not programming. Please comment if there is specific problem with my question.
