  I have window that contains a table on screen, now I want to attach a widget to that table I use gtk_table_attach(GTK_TABLE(table), label, ...) the function is correct and it runs without any error but table does not respond to that line I mean there is no change on my table, I think I need something to tell that table update it self but how? note= that line is inside a callback of a signal and I am sure that signal runs note2= I do not want to destroy window for that note3= I use gtk+ and pygtk note4= I am sure I attach that widget to a correct position ( it is free)

  I've been reading Metaprogramming Ruby and the object model like the chicken or egg dilemma. In Ruby 1.8, the Object class is an instance of Class. Module's superclass is Object and is an instance of Class. Class' superclass is Module, and it is an instance of Class (self-referential). Say class SomeClass; end is defined somewhere; SomeClass is an instance of Class, however its superclass is Object. Why does an instance of Class have Object as the superclass instead of nil? Also, if Object is to exist, then Class has to exist, but then Module has to exist, but for Module to exist Object has to exist. How are these classes created?

This is to ensure the service contracts don't differ from time of release. I would like my tests to be self contained and not rely on any external resources such as hosting on IIS. • What is a good way to quantify C++ knowledge and skill?

  I have only recently started to study (with the hopes of mastering) C++, one because i have started to love it and two because it's a good career/profession move. At the same time i wish to quantify my knowledge and skill so as to set my self apart from those who just throw C/C++ on their resumes and fish. Is there an open, industry and community recognized way of quantifying ones knowledge and skill in C++? I have looked at Brainbench, MS C++ certificates, and other online certification sites which offer to rate you at $50-$200 per test however there doesn't seem to be a standard on how to rate knowledge and skill. It's one thing for MS or Oracle/Sun to have certifications for their products but C++ is a standard, shouldn't there be a standard way or rating one's knowledge and skill there in? Thanks.

  Ok, this is so weird!!! I am running PHP Version 5.1.6 when I try and run the code below it gives a fatal error of an object that has not been instantiated.   When presenting a view controller that has toolbar items, is it possible for the toolbar to slide in with the view controller (i.e. slide in from the right) as opposed to it sliding from the bottom? • Please recommend good books for telemetry / SCADA system design & programming

  I am looking at several projects, all with roughly the same fucntionality. Some instruments collect some data (or control some functionality). They commmunicate by Internet (Etehrnet/wifi/GPRS/sasatellite) with a databse server which stores the measurements and provides a browser based means of qeurying the data, prodcuing reports, etc (and possibly also allows control of the remote equipment). Can anyone recommend a good book describing an approach to developing such a software architecture, keeping it generic, which tools, languages. test methods, etc to use? (note to self: ask a similar question about possible existing frameworks)

  Hello another stupid question regarding leaks and also NSURLConnection. How do i release it? Is it enough if i release in the following 2 methods? (void)connection:(NSURLConnection *)connection didFailWithError:(NSError *)error (void)connectionDidFinishLoading:(NSURLConnection *)connection Because in instruments it shows me the line where I alloc my connection as the source of leaking. OK I don't get it. After the following code my urlConnection has a retain count of 2. WTF? NSURLConnection *urlConnection = [[NSURLConnection alloc] initWithRequest: urlRequest delegate: self]; This is the line that instruments points me to. I find this very weird.

• UITabViewController hide / make appear a view in code

  I am using Xcode 5.1.1. I have a UITabViewController and used Storyboard to add 10 views to it. It works great and I get the "more" and table view all for free. I only want to show some of the tabs at the beginning. Once the user logs in with their Google+ account (I actually got that working), then I want the rest of the tabs to appear, since they are content sensitive to the user logging in. I have found: [[[[self.tabBarController tabBar]items]objectAtIndex:3]setEnabled:FALSE]; But I do not want the items just greyed out, I want them removed completely until they log in. Thanks

All they are intended to work with one SQL Server database, generated from an Entity Framework 4 model as table-per-type, with lots of inheritance and multiple self-referencing relations. Where do I best put my model? In a separate class library, a copy in every project, in one project, etc. What naming should I best use? Is Date not allowed for usage in AppEngine? Is this a DataMapper issue? I have tried changing the name of the :day property to something else (hoping it was just a name conflict) but it doesn't seem to matter. Thanks for any help you can provide.

I'm not trying to do anything to invovled, just have a textbox that takes numeric value from 1 to 10. I don't want it to take a string or any number above 10. • Displaying Fields (and/instead of Properties) in a PropertyGrid

  I'd like to use a PropertyGrid to manipulate the data on some objects, however these objects don't have properties, they have fields. Thus a property grid doesn't display them (high five MS!) Before anyone posts "just use properties": I can't at the moment.. these objects are DTOs and are used to send data to a VB6 Interop dll, thus all the parameters for the method calls are "ref" parameters (high five MS!), and C# won't compile if you use a property instead of a field or variable (high five MS!). No, I am not going to create local variables for every property on any given object. There many, many fields, and many, many test cases that would need updating, as well as the production code it self, and this post/question may be the path of least resistance. :)

The problem is that i'm dealing with a legacy application and each account's contracts are stored in a different database. Example: Account 1's contract are in account1_db.contracts. Account 2's contract are in account2_db.contracts. The database name is a field stored in accounts table. How can i make rails association work with this? This is a legacy PHP application and i simply can't change it to store everything in one table. I need to make it work somehow. • Is there an optimal way to render images in cocoa? Im using setNeedsDisplay

  Currently, any time I manually move a UIImage (via handling the touchesMoved event) the last thing I call in that event is [self setNeedsDisplay], which effectively redraws the entire view. My images are also being animated, so every time a frame of animation changes, i have to call setNeedsDisplay. I find this to be horrific since I don't expect iphone/cocoa to be able to perform such frequent screen redraws very quickly. Is there an optimal, more efficient way that I could be doing this? Perhaps somehow telling cocoa to update only a particular region of the screen (the rect region of the image)?

  I have a handful of DBIx::Class::Core objects that model various database tables. For some of those models (those that have a 'queue' column), I have another class inject subs (basically, to 'move' the model object along it's queue states). I'd like to also have that class inject has_many relationships ala class($name)->has_many('queue_history','MySchema::Result::QueueHistory', { 'foreign.record_id'=>'self.id' }, { where => { type => $name }} ); but I can't seem to get the relationships to register properly (keep getting "No Such Relationship" errors - however, when calling the relationship method on the sources provides back the relationship). Any clues as to what's wrong?

• Sharing a database connection with included classes in a Sinatra application

  I'm converting a part of a rails application to its own sinatra application. It has some beefy work to do and rather than have a million helps in app.rb, I've separated some of it out into classes. Without access to rails I'm rewriting finder several methods and needing access to the database inside of my class. What's the best way to share a database connection between your application and a class? Or would you recommend pushing all database work into its own class and only having the connection established there?
