C# Sharp Windows Application prevents Windows from shutting down / logging off

I have written a C# Windows Forms application, not a service (it is only used when the user is logged in and has a graphical user interface) that has a background thread running in an infinite loop. When I try shutting down Windows (7) however, it tells me the program is preventing it from shutting down or logging off and asks me whether I want to force a shutdown. Now, is there any possibility for my program to become aware (get a handler) of Windows trying to quit it or to log off? So, what I need is to make the application realize when Windows tries to quit. Logging from symfony's model layer

I'm currently working on a project with symfony 1.4 and Doctrine 1.2. I'm looking for a proper way to do logging from the model layer. In some model classes I use the record hook postSave() to create a ZIP file using exec() (since PHP zip doesn't provide for storage method 'Stored'). To be sure that everythings works fine I check the return code and log an error if something goes wrong. My first naive approach was to do it like this: if ($returnCode != 0) { sfContext::getInstance()->getLogger()->debug(...); } As you know, this doesn't work so well because sfContext belongs to the controller layer and shouldn't be used from the model layer. My next try was to use the model's constructor to pass in an sfLogger instance, but this doesn't work due to Doctrine 1.2 reserving the constructor for internal use (Doctrine 1.2 Documentation). I'm looking forward for your suggestions!

Need to determine if ELMAH is logging an unhandled exception or one raised by ErrorSignal.Raise()

I am using the Elmah Logged event in my Global.asax file to transfer users to a feedback form when an unhandled exception occurs. Sometimes I log other handled exceptions. For example: ErrorSignal.FromCurrentContext().Raise(new System.ApplicationException("Program code not found: " + Student.MostRecentApplication.ProgramCode)); // more code that should execute after logging this exception The problem I am having is that the Logged event gets fired for both unhandled and these handled, raised exceptions. Is there a way to determine, in the Logged event handler, whether the exception was raised via ErrorSignal class or was simply unhandled? Are there other Elmah events that I can take advantage of?

Android: prevent user from coming back to login page after logging in

Hi all, I have a login page in my android app. I want to prevent the user after logging in to come back to the login page. Also, when the user reopens the app, if he has logged in before, I want to go directly to the main page without having to go to the login page. What the best way of doing that? One idea I thought of is to save the login parameters in a cookie, and then, when the app is reopens, if the cookie contains some login information, I inflate the main page, otherwise, I inflate the login page. logging problems for swing applications

what kind of logging frame work or API to use for swing applications which is used by multiple users in Unix. Is it possible to log all verbose/exception in one file per day or event one user one file per day? Since the user can open the same application with multiple instance. I also have another solution is to save the exceptions into database. But if I miss the excetpions, those will not be saved in DB. anybody has better solutions? Thank you very much!

facebook php-sdk not logging out

I'm having a hard time getting this to work. I use the following to generate the logout url: $logout = "https://www.facebook.com/logout.php?next=" . urlencode('http://' . $_SERVER['SERVER_NAME'] . $_SERVER['PHP_SELF']) . "&access_token=" . $facebook->getAccessToken(); Which generates the correct (worked with the last version) url: https://www.facebook.com/logout.php?next=http%3A%2F%2F...&access_token=AA....ZD However this does not actually log the user out. I tried using $facebook->getLogoutUrl(array('next' => 'myurl')) which generates pretty much the same url. This also did not work. I am lost as to why its not logging the user out. I actually tried manually putting the address into the address bar but it redirects me to the Facebook homepage.

Django logging in and out - doesn't work if prepend_www set

I'm a Django beginner. My site - let's call it abc.com - works fine, letting users log in and out (having originally registered via Django registratiaon). If it's relevant, my virtuahosts file has ServerName abc.com and ServerAlias www.abc.com directives. I don't want my visitors to sense that both abc.com and www.abc.com exist, and so discovered Django's prepend_www setting, which works as intended. In addition to working as intended, however, there's a side effect that disables logging in and out when visiting the www. variant of my site.

I have a table like this: Index , PersonID , ItemCount , UnixTimeStamp 1 , 1 , 1 , 1296000000 2 , 1 , 2 , 1296000100 3 , 2 , 4 , 1296003230 4 , 2 , 6 , 1296093949 5 , 1 , 0 , 1296093295 Time and index always go up. Its basically a logging table to log the itemcount each time it changes. I get the most recent ItemCount for each Person like this: SELECT * FROM table a INNER JOIN ( SELECT MAX(index) as i FROM table GROUP BY PersonID) b ON a.index = b.i; What I want to do is get get the most recent record for each PersonID that is at least 24 hours older than the most recent record for each Person ID. Then I want to take the difference in ItemCount between these two to get a change in itemcount for each person over the last 24 hours: personID ChangeInItemCountOverAtLeast24Hours 1 3 2 -11 3 6 Im sort of stuck with what to do next. How can I join another itemcount based on latest adjusted timestamp of individual rows?

What changes does McAfee make to the registry?

I'm wondering if anyone knows exactly what McAfee does to the registry. I've got a computer on which JavaScript no longer works. I read online that McAfee replaces the script interpreter dll path in the registry to point to its own dll, which filters, and in turn calls the official "jscript.dll". I found multiples of these in the registry, and corrected them, but it still hasn't fixed the problem - JavaScript still does not work. I'm considering just reinstalling, and then re-uninstalling McAfee to fix it. However, for the record, I still want to know if anyone has, or can provide an online list of all the changes McAfee makes to the registry. Getting Classic ASP to work in .js files under IIS 7

I am moving a clients classic asp webapp to a new IIS7 based server. The site contains some .js files which have javascript but also classic asp in <% % tags which contains a bunch of conditional statements designed to spit out pieces of javascript based on session state variables. Here is what I've tried so far... Under the Server node in IIS under HANDLER MAPPINGS I created a new Script Map with the following settings. Request Path: *.js Executable: C:\Windows\System32\inetsrv\asp.dll Name: ASPClassicInJSFiles Mapping: Invoke Handler only if request is mapped to : File Verbs: All verbs Access: Script I also created a similar handler under the site node itself. Under MIME Types .js is defined as application/x-javascript None of these work. If I simply rename the file to have .asp extension then things work, however this app is poorly coded and has literally 100's of files with the .js files included in them under various names and locations, so rename, search and replace is the last option I have.

Make Firefox left-click open in current tab, and middle-click open in new tab

I'm sick of the inconsistent behavior of clicking on links in Firefox. I want control of where they open up. If I'm done with a page and want to replace it with the link I am clicking, I left-click. If there are things I want to look at in the future, but I'm not done with this page yet, I'll middle-click. This normally works, but there are exceptions. If the website designer uses target="_blank", my left-click is overridden and the link opens in a new tab/window. If the links are javascript, a middle-click rarely works. I get an (Untitled) tab with some javascript as the URL. etc. How do I fix these things and get consistent clicking on links?

I want to clear only JavaScript files from my web browsers (Firefox and Chrome). I am doing JavaScript debugging, and it's annoying that my JS just won't get updated whenever I change my JS files. The only thing I can do now is to clear my cookies, but doing that erases all of my browsing history. How can I clear/refresh the JavaScript files that have been loaded into my browsers without clearing out other files?

Tracking events and setting up Analytics for Websites seems easy. You create an account with one of the Analytics service providers like Google. They give you javascript code that you embed in your pages (whichever event you wish to track) and voila..you're done. I have written a native application for Android phones, which is actually an adaptation of the actual web site. Now, I am required to setup Analytics and tracking for this native application. Question: How to do this on Mobile phones from within a native application? We have Java Script code that works for the original web site. Is there a way to incorporate that in the native application? I know Android supports Java Script via WebViews(Webkit);my application does not have webviews and it is native. Also, I have not worked on JavaScript since school so excuse me if I sound naive. Thanks.

Facebook Connect login button not rendering

I'm trying to implement a Facebook Connect Single Sign-on site. I originally just had a Connect button (<fb:login-button>), which the user had to click every time they wanted to sign in. I now have the auto login and logout features working. That is, my site will detect a logged-in Facebook account and automatically authenticate them if it can find a match to one of my site's user accounts, and automatically deauthenticate if the Facebook session is lost. I also have a manual logout button that will log the user out of both my site and Facebook. All of those are working correctly, but now my original Connect button is intermittently not being rendered correctly. It just shows up as the plain XHTML (ie., it looks like plain text--not a button--and is unclickable), and no XFBML is applied. I can log in and out of Facebook on another tab and my site will notice the session changes and update accordingly. The logout seems to be working fine: when clicked, it deauthenticates the user and logs them out of Facebook, as intended. The issue seems to usually happen after a Facebook user is logged out, but it happens somewhat intermittently; it might happen before they ever login, and it goes away after a few minutes/refreshes. Some cookies are left over after the login/logout process, but deleting them does not fix the issue. Restarting the browser does not fix the issue. The user is definitely logged out of Facebook and my site when the problem occurs. I've checked for Facebook sessions and site authentication. All external script calls are being served up correctly. I have a suspicion that there's something else I need to be doing upon logout (like clearing session or cookies), but according to everything I've read about Facebook Connect, all I need to do is call the logout function (and deauthenticate on my server-side). I'm really at a loss; does anybody have any ideas what could be wrong?

Creating a drop-down row in displaytag

I am currently using displaytag for tabular data, but would like to create a "kayak.com-like" interface where when a user clicks a row, the user is shown more details about the particular row without a page refresh. I tried using a decorator to return javascript that would do this. The javascript is executed, but it is only reflected in the column where it was rendered. I am looking to create a new row with the data. e.g.: public class CustomDecorator extends TableDecorator { public String getDetailsRow() { MyObject object = (MyObject)this.getCurrentRowObject(); return "<a onClick=\"myjsfunction(object.getId()); return true\">Details</a>"; } } ...and in the JSP I would have a detailsRow property nested between the display:table tags: <display:column property="detailsRow" sortable="false" /> Any tips on how to create a new row? The solution may be in the way that the javascript is written - I'm not an expert with Javascript, so any tips would be appreciated. Is there a better way to do this with displaytag? I don't know of any explicit integration that displaytag has with javascript (like an "onclick" parameter) either. This is my first question on stackoverflow, btw - so please let me know whether you need more detail.

My website dynamically embeds an external Javascript file into the head tag. The external Javascript defines a global variable myString = "data". mootools slideshow not working with JQuery. Need help !

I am working on a site http://tapasya.co.in where i just impemented mootools slideshow. But I noticed that menubar that i was using stopped working, it was supposed to drop horizontaly but it is not being displayed now. I have used jquery for it. Please see the source of the web page. What can be the problem ? Mootools conflicting with javascript or some other problem. dojo.require() prevents Firefox from rendering the page

Im experiencing strange behavior with Firefox and Dojo. I have a html page with these lines in the <head> section: ... <script type="text/javascript" src="dojo.js" djconfig="parseOnLoad: true, locale: 'de'"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> dojo.require("dojo.number"); </script> ... Sometimes the page loads normally. But sometimes it won't. Firefox will fetch the whole html page but not render it. I see only a gray window. After some experiments I figured out that the rendering problem has something to do with the load time of the html. Firefox starts evaluating the html page while loading it. If the page takes too long to load the above javascript will be executed BEFORE the html finishes loading. If this happens I'll get the gray window. Advising Firefox to show me the source code of the page will display the correct complete html code. BUT: if I save the page to disk (File-Save Page As...) the html code will be truncated and the above part will look like this: ... <script type="text/javascript" src="dojo.js" djconfig="parseOnLoad: true, locale: 'de'"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> dojo.require("dojo.number"); </script></head><body></body></html> This explains why I get to see a gray area. But why does this code appear there? I assume the require() method of Dojo does something "evil". But I can't figure out what. There is no write.document("</head><body></body></html>"); in the Dojo code. I checked for it. The problem would be fixed, if I'd place the dojo.require("dojo.number"); statement in the window.load event: <script type="text/javascript"> window.load=function() { dojo.require("dojo.number"); } </script> But I'm curious why this happens. Is there a Javasctript function which forces Firefox to stop evaluating the page? Does Dojo do somethig "bad"? Can anyone explain this behavior to me? EDIT: Dojo 1.3.1, no JS errors or warnings.

But I want the keep the script in the header so in PHP I only have to call up 1 header. The LightBox "manual" said to add "initLightbox(); to the onload attribute on the body tag, so I did that and nothing changed. Now I also read somewhere else about a (jQuery.no-conflict), im wondering if this would be the way to proceed. Or if there is another way to fix this problems. Also, if I want to use (ThickBox3.1) on the same page with everything else. Would it be possible, and how to do so exactly? Wordpress and Jquery slide

I am integrating a Jquery slider inside of wordpress here is the demo of the slider. I can see the div that is their but for some reason it is not showing up. windows.location.href not working on Firefox3

We have a javascript funtion named "move" which does just "windows.location.href = any given anchor". This function works on IE, Opera and Safari, but somehow is ignored in Firefox. Researching on Google doesn't produce a satisfactory answer why it doesn't work. Does any javascript guru knows about this behavior, and what would be the best practice to jump to an anchor via javascript?
