  • Can I minify Javascript that requires copyright notice?

    I guess this is actually a legal question, but it relates to software. I'm about to include a JS plugin in a project. The comments include: Redistributions of source code must retain the above copyright notice, this list of conditions and the following disclaimer. * Redistributions in binary form must reproduce the above copyright notice, this list of conditions and the following disclaimer in the documentation and/or other materials provided with the distribution. Is using this in my web site "redistribution?" If I minify this to conserve bandwidth, I assume it will strip all comments. If the answer to #1 is yes, doesn't that imply I'm legally not allowed to minify it? (That would stink, since I was planning to auto-minify all JS as part of the deploy process.)

  • Converting Audio To Video Output and Attaching Text?

    I am currently working on a project and before i get started i thought it'd be nice to check with stackOverflow community, and see maybe they can help me with this. The Idea: I have about a thousand MP3 files that i need to convert into Video files to be upload on Youtube for my work. Here is where it gets tricky i need to also attach the Text associated with the Audio to the Video as an Image. I was thinking .ppt. The Problem: I can do this one audio file at a time but it would take me a zillion years. lol!! The Question: Can I Create Some Kind Of Program Using Let's Say XML or JavaScript Or XHTML or some other programming language to do a MASS content creation and all i have to do is feed it the Information?? possibly a script?? or is it possible to create an example .ppt file and then hack it so that i can have it reproduce itself with different information??     PHP 5.5 I'm doing a bunch of passing around of objects with the assumption that they will all maintain their identities - that any changes made to their states from inside other objects' methods will continue to hold true afterwards. Am I assuming correctly?   • Adobe Illustrator - Objects are Expanded on Restart

    I use Adobe Illustrator extensively for mobile development. For example, for Android app, I have many illustrations with different densities and sizes. I use many effects such as outer glow, round corners and such. However, sometimes, when I close the .ai file and re-open it later, I found all my objects expanded. Effects are expanded. For example, the round corner effect is now expanded and I cannot re-size any object. I am using a MacBook Pro. I am suspecting both Time Machine and Dropbox. As much as I can recall, it also appears with CS6 version, not CS5.

  • Visual Studio 2010 JavaScript Intellisense Behavior

    After I installed Visual Studio 2010 I was having a difficult time editing .js files in Visual Studio. I habitually type the "(" character as soon as the function I want to call is highlighted in the Intellisense window, but in 2010 this behavior was no longer auto-completing the function name. At first I thought this behavior was due to the new "suggestion mode" in Intellisense, but no amount of toggling with CTRL+ALT+SPACE would bring back the auto-complete behavior.     I would like to know if there is a way to know which objects [UIViewControllers?] are stored inside [self navigationController] (I'm guessing they are stored there with pushViewController?), and if there is a way to remove such objects. Consider this scenario: 1.- Show "Presentation screen" (a logo) 2.- Wait 2 seconds 3.- Push "Data screen" (no need for "Presentation screen" anymore but it's stored in Memory) Thanks for your time.

  • Is deserializing complex objects instead of creating them a good idea, in test setup?

    I'm writing tests for a component that takes very complex objects as input. These tests are mixes of tests against already existing components, and test-first tests for new features. Instead of re-creating my input objects (this would be a large chunk of code) or reading one from our data store, I had the thought to serialize a live instance of one of these objects, and just deserialize it into test setup. I can't decide if this is a reasonable idea that will save effort in long run, or whether it's the worst idea that I've ever had, causing those that will maintain this code will hunt me down as soon as they read it. Is deserialization of inputs a valid means of test setup in some cases? To give a sense of scale of what I'm dealing with, the size of serialization output for one of these input objects is 93KB. Obtained by, in C#: new BinaryFormatter().Serialize((Stream)fileStream, myObject);

  • Are separate business objects needed when persistent data can be stored in a usable format?

    I have a system where data is stored in a persistent store and read by a server application. Some of this data is only ever seen by the server, but some of it is passed through unaltered to clients. So, there is a big temptation to persist data - whether whole rows/documents or individual fields/sub-documents - in the exact form that the client can use (eg. JSON), as this removes various layers of boilerplate, whether in the form of procedural SQL, an ORM, or any proxy structure which exists just to hold the values before having to re-encode them into a client-suitable form. This form can usually be used on the server too, though business logic may have to live outside of the object, On the other hand, this approach ends up leaking implementation details everywhere. 9 times out of 10 I'm happy just to read a JSON structure out of the DB and send it to the client, but 1 in every 10 times I have to know the details of that implicit structure (and be able to refactor access to it if the stored data ever changes). And this makes me think that maybe I should be pulling this data into separate business objects, so that business logic doesn't have to change when the data schema does. (Though you could argue this just moves the problem rather than solves it.) There is a complicating factor in that our data schema is constantly changing rapidly, to the point where we dropped our previous ORM/RDBMS system in favour of MongoDB and an implicit schema which was much easier to work with. So far I've not decided whether the rapid schema changes make me wish for separate business objects (so that server-side calculations need less refactoring, since all changes are restricted to the persistence layer) or for no separate business objects (because every change to the schema requires the business objects to change to stay in sync, even if the new sub-object or field is never used on the server except to pass verbatim to a client). So my question is whether it is sensible to store objects in the form they are usually going to be used, or if it's better to copy them into intermediate business objects to insulate both sides from each other (even when that isn't strictly necessary)? And I'd like to hear from anybody else who has had experience of a similar situation, perhaps choosing to persist XML or JSON instead of having an explicit schema which has to be assembled into a client format each time.

    Hi, I couldn't find a clear explanation, just asking to be sure; are C data types handled same way (in terms of memory management) in Obj.C? i.e. they are created on stack, released immediately etc.? So they differ from Obj.C objects? Or may we make an analogy with C# (just an analogy not exactly) so that C types are handled as 'value types' and Obj.C objects as 'reference types'?

I can do a binary binary search and get the index 3,but how can i get (2 and 4) is there any efficient algorithm? the real problem has lists with about one Million items. any language except bf and lisp can help.

    SEVERE: IOException while loading persisted sessions: java.io.WriteAbortedException: writi ng aborted; java.io.NotSerializableException: That means this object cannot be persisted on hard disk. Does it imply that it's not safe to keep in Session objects that do not implement "Serializable"? I haven't heard that there are limitations on saving non-serializable objects in Session object. It simply means that Tomcat will always keep them in memory, right?
