• Non breaking space in XAML vs. code

  This works fine, and correctly inserts non-breaking spaces into the string: <TextBlock Text="Non&#160;Breaking&#160;Text&#160;Here"></TextBlock> But what I really need is to replace spaces with non-breaking spaces during data binding. So I wrote a simple value converter that replaces spaces with "&#160;". It does indeed replace spaces with "&#160;" but "&#160;" is displayed literally instead of showing as a non-breaking space. • Problems debugging using Cygwin gdb in Eclipse CDT(Helios)

  I am trying to debug an application using Eclipse CDT and cygwin gdb and I am facing a problem if my code calls Sleep(), it looks like whenever a sleep is encountered in the code the debugger seems to go in an infinite loop(I meant it never terminates or hit a breakpoint after sleep). On pressing pause the code is stuck on one of the thread on sigint::interrupt. Even my debugger console windows throw these error in the console output: [New thread 5968.0x1f98] Error: dll starting at 0x774a0000 not found. Error: dll starting at 0x775c0000 not found. [New thread 5968.0x19e8] Any idea what are these errors about? It would be helpful if someone can help me out here as I am new to eclipse and I am used to using VS so it has made be lazy to be honest and expect things to work out of box. Here are more details if required Windows 7 x64 bit. Eclipse 3.6 Helios with CDT plug-in compiled from the CVS head. Cygwin latest from website, I think it is 1.71

• Problem using Flot charts on a jQtouch web site

  Hiiii I have a jQtouch site in dev and i would like to use a chart on it, to me Flot looks like the best way to do this (prettiest!) However if i implement flot on the site i get the following error: Invalid dimensions for plot, width = 0, height = 0 If i comment out the style sheet ../jqtouch/jqtouch.min.css the flot chart works just fine. This i think has something to do with the fact that you cannot use flot inside a div that has display:none From the Flot readme Blockquote Make sure that the placeholder isn't within something with a display:none CSS property - in that case, Flot has trouble measuring label dimensions which results in garbled looks and might have trouble measuring the placeholder dimensions which is fatal (it'll throw an exception). Does anyone now if i can work around this/fix this so flot and jQtouch work together? Thanks Hairby

• iPhone - How do you make a resizable rectangle for cropping images?

  Hi everyone, I'm having a trouble making a re-sizable rectangle for cropping my images. I'm trying to achieve something like this picture: http://img192.imageshack.us/img192/8930/customcropbox.jpg Well, the only problem is I have no clue where to actually start. I need some advice to how I can achieve this effect of cropping. What documentation should I read up on? Core Graphics or Quartz 2d? Both? I've been coding for the iPhone since it's release date but I've never actually used core graphics and etc. Any help or advice would be much appreciated. I'll throw my code up here as I progress to show how it's done when I achieve it. :-) Also, this rectangular box is moveable across the screen in a UIImageView which just makes it more interesting. Thanks for the help and I look forward to achieving this goal.

  I am trying to suppress the following StyleCop message for a specific property: SA1513: Statements or elements wrapped in curly brackets must be followed by a blank line.   I'm using FSharp.Compiler.CodeDom to dynamically create F# classes. The problem is, that I have both VS2008 and VS2010 on my computer side-by-side (they works fine), and using F# in this configuration is buggy at best: If I don't install InstallFSharp.msi, then under VS2008 the built classes complain about not finding FSharp.Core (even if they're referenced) If I install InstallFSharp.msi, then under VS2008 the built classes will use the F# built for VS2010, and will throw a binary-incompatibility exception, because it will load the .net4 variant: FSC: error FS0219: The referenced or default base CLI library 'mscorlib' is binary- incompatible with the referenced F# core library 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft F#\v4.0\FSharp.Core.dll'. Consider recompiling the library or making an explicit reference to a version of this library that matches the CLI version you are using. If I replace the F# found at the previous location to the separately installed dll-s, then of course VS2010 will complain about binary-incompatibility Am I overlooking something, or they won't simply work for a shared environment like this? This might mean real problems when I deploy the applications. Thanks

• Handling nmake errorlevel/return codes

  Hi all, I have an nmake-based project which in turn calls the asp compiler, which can throw an error, which nmake seems to recognize: NMAKE : fatal error U1077: 'C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\aspnet_compiler.exe' : return code '0x1' However, when I call nmake from within a batch file, the environment variable %ERRORLEVEL% remains set at zero: nmake /NOLOGO echo BUILD RETURNING: %ERRORLEVEL% If I control-c the nmake task, I do end up getting a non-zero ERRORLEVEL (it's set to 2) so my assumption is that I'm able to catch errors okay, but nmake isn't bubbling up the non-zero exit code from it's task. Or, at least, I'm mis-trapping it. Any help would be appreciated.

  I am populating a text and list view from a sqllite database. The data is populating from the cursor correctly (I see the list filling with text rows), but I'm not able to see the actual text in the rows - all I see are empty rows. For the life of me, I can't figure out what I'm not able to see the data in the text rows. • OAuth::Problem (parameter_absent)

  Im working with OAuth 0.3.6 and the linkedin gem for a Rails application and I have this issue where OAuth throws an error saying that OAuth::Problem (parameter_absent). The thing is it doesn't throw the error on every occasion its called and the problem is I am unable to reproduce the issue locally to test it. The documentation says that : [parameter_absent: a required parameter wasn't received. In this case, the response SHOULD also contain an oauth_parameters_absent parameter. ] but the request is generated the same way each time to obtain the tokens so I fail to understand why this happens. • How to scroll to the bottom of a UITableView on the iPhone before the view appears

  I have a UITableView that is populated with cells of a variable height. I would like the table to scroll to the bottom when the view is pushed into view. I currently have the following function NSIndexPath *indexPath = [NSIndexPath indexPathForRow:[log count]-1 inSection:0]; [self.table scrollToRowAtIndexPath:indexPath atScrollPosition:UITableViewScrollPositionBottom animated:NO]; log is a mutable array containing the objects that make up the content of each cell. The above code works fine in viewDidAppear however this has the unfortunate side effect of displaying the top of the table when the view first appears and then jumping to the bottom. I would prefer it if the table view could be scrolled to the bottom before it appears. I tried the scroll in viewWillAppear and viewDidLoad but in both cases the data has not been loaded into the table yet and both throw an exception. Any guidance would be much appreciated, even if it's just a case of telling me what I have is all that is possible.

• XNA Xbox 360 Content Manager Thread freezing Draw Thread

  I currently have a game that takes in large images, easily bigger than 1MB, to serve as backgrounds. I know exactly when this transition is supposed to take place, so I made a loader class to handle loading these large images in the background, but when I load the images it still freezes the main thread where the drawing takes place. Since this code runs on the 360 I move the thread to the 4th hardware thread, but that doesn't seem to help. Below is the class I am using. File is expected at location: " + AppDomain.CurrentDomain.SetupInformation.ConfigurationFile + "\n"); } When I build the app.config file in my solution is added to the output directory as AppName.exe.config, and if run from outside visual studio AppDomain.CurrentDomain.SetupInformation.ConfigurationFile contains the path C:...\AppName.exe.config (from within VS it's C:..\AppName.vshost.exe.config). If I delete AppName.exe.config, the value is C:..\Appname.config (no .exe). I did a bit of farther experimentation, and if Appname.config exists that file will also work to load my setting values. What's going on here? I need to have everything consistent for error reporting purposes.

  I've recently upgraded my project to Visual Studio 2010 from Visual Studio 2008. In Visual Studio 2008, this Code Analysis rule doesn't exist. Now I'm not sure if I should use this rule or not. I'm building an open source library so it seems important to keep people safe from doing mistakes. However, if all I'm going to do is throw ArgumentNullException when the parameter is null, it seems like writing useless code since ArgumentNullException will be thrown even if I won't write that code. Should I remove that rule or fix the violations?

Then I am initiating query on locked table (LOCKE TABLE users WRITE) and its just hanging, ignoring all my settings even: set_time_limit(1); ini_set('max_execution_time',1); ini_set('default_socket_timeout',1); ini_set('mysql.connect_timeout',1); I understand why set_time_limit(1) and max_execution_time is ignored but why other timeouts and especially MYSQLI_OPT_CONNECT_TIMEOUT are ignored and how to solve it. I am using PHP 5.3.1 on Windows and Linux boxes, please help.

• Running JUnit test classes from another JUnit test class

  I have two classes that I am testing (let's call them ClassA and ClassB). Each has its own JUnit test class (testClassA and testClassB respectively). ClassA relies on ClassB for its normal functioning, so I want to make sure ClassB passes its tests before running testClassA (otherwise the results from testClassA would be meaningless). What is the best way to do this? In this case it is for an assignment so I need to keep it to the two specified test classes if possible. Can/should I throw an exception from testClassA if testClassB's tests aren't all passed? This would require testClassB to run invisibly and just report its success/failure to testClassA, rather than to the GUI (via JUnit). I am using Eclipse and JUnit 4.8.1

• Boost timed_wait leap seconds problem

  Hi, I am using the timed_wait from boost C++ library and I am getting a problem with leap seconds. So, boost is widely used but I could not find any info about this particular problem. Has anyone else experienced this problem? What are the possible causes and solutions? Notes: I am using boost 1.38 on a linux system. I've heard that this problem doesn't happen on MacOS.

  I'm using Validation Application Block - Enterprise Library to validate parameters sent to my WCF Service operations. For instance, a certain operation requires the parameter to either be a 1 or 6, like so: [OperationContract(Name="GetEmployeesByRegion")] [FaultContract(typeof(ValidationFault))] List<Employees> GetEmployeesByRegion([DomainValidator(1,6)]int regionId); This works just fine i.e the validation fault occurs however, when the service is invoked by the client, a generic System.ServiceModel.FaultException is thrown. An the message indicates: "The creator of this fault did not specify a reason." Now, I could check the parameters myself before the service cal and throw a custom fault but that seems to defeat the purpose of attribute based validation of parameters using the Validation Application Block. Is there anyway to customize the error returned by the validation Fault? It is also possible I'm doing something completely wrong. I just want the caller to know that he/she should have passed in a 1 or 6 in the exception message. Is this possible?
