    Hi, I want to access a file on remote machine(win2k3, 10.10.20.30), but i couldn't understand how to login to that machine in my program. is there any simple win api that takes network path, credentials and returns the handle? i just want to access \10.10.20.30\c$\test.txt, WNetAddConnection2, WNetAddConnection3 are little confusing. Any suggestion will be helpful.

The Robert C. Martin series Clean Code has M104 galaxy on the cover, but it is 462 pages long and based on Java, with no simple "do this" digest. Assuming that it is important to synchronize style and best practices across the organization, what is the smartest, most pleasant and useful conventions document you have worked with?

  • Looking for an Open Source Project in need of help

    Hi StackOverflow! I'm a CS student on well on my way to graduate. I have had a difficult time of finding relevant student jobs (they seems to be taken merely hours after the notice gets on the board) , so instead I'm looking for an open source project in need of help. I'm aware that I should choose one that I use, but I'm not aware of any OS-project that I use that needs help. That's why I'm asking you. I don't have any deep experience, but I here are some of my biggest projects so far: BitTorrent-ish client in Python (a subset of BitTorrent) HTTP 1.1 webserver in Java Compiler from a subset of Java to run on JRE Flash-framework project to model an iPad look and feel (not to run actual iPad programs) complete with an API for programs. Complete MySQL database for a booking system, with departure and arrival times, so you could only book valid tickets (with a Java frontend). I know, Java and languages like AS3 and C# feels natural per se, Python, and have done a fair bit of hacking around in C, but I don't feel very comfortable with it. Mostly I'm afraid to make a fuckup because I have such a high degree of control. I would like to think I'm well aware of good software design practices, but in reality what I do is ask myself "would I like to use/maintain this?", and I love to refactor my code because I see optimizations. I love algorithms and to make them run in the best possible time. I don't have any preferred domain to work in, but I wouldn't mind it to be graphics or math heavy. Ideally I'm looking for a project in C++ to learn the in's and out's of it, but I'm well aware that I don't know that language very well. I would like to have a mentor-like figure until I'm confident enough to stand on my own, not one to review all my code (I'm sure someone will to start with anyway), but to ask questions about the project and language in question. I do have a wife and two children, so don't expect me to put in 10+ hours every week. In return I can work on my own, I strive to program modular and maintainable code. Know how to read an API, use Google, StackOverflow and online resources in general. If you have any questions, shoot. I'm looking forward to your suggestions.

  • Use OpenOffice to do server-side ppt(x) to swf conversion

    I'd like to turn Powerpoint presentations to SWF files the same way that OpenOffice does it, except automatically through a command line call. I came across http://stackoverflow.com/questions/886144, which led me to explore PyUNO bridge, which comes with OpenOffice as well as the OpenOffice command line API, but I wasn't able to make anything productive of it. Any guidance is appreciated. If there is a good solution outside of OpenOffice, I would be happy to try it too.

    Hi, Searched through net, could't find a way to read/write file metadata using C or C++, however, there are tools available for this, and also there are API's in C# and Java to do this. But I want to do it from scratch in C or C++. For example, read/write image metadata. Have found out that there are three formats in which metadata is written to files. EXIF, IPTC and XMP. Thanks.

  • Is PyOpenGL a good place to start learning opengl programing?

    I want to start learning OpenGL but I don't really want to have to learn another language to do it. I already am pretty proficient in python and enjoy the language. I just want to know how close it is to the regular api? Will I be able to pretty easily follow tutorials and books without too much trouble? I know C++ gives better performance, but for just learning can I go wrong with PyOpenGL? Thanks alot

The Co-ordinate system in this case is the canonical opengl co-ordinate system which extends from (-1,-1,-1) to (1,,1,1). My question is, is this coordinate system right-handed or left-handed? A broader question: Is there a document with OpenGL which can list all the mathematical conventions followed by the API?

    Hey guys, I'm using Nokogiri to parse a return from the Rackspace API so I'm using their sample code to response = server.get '/customers/'[email protected]_id.to_s+'/domains/', server.xml_format doc = Nokogiri::XML::parse response.body puts "xpath values" doc.xpath("//name").each do |node| puts node.text end As my code to use Nokogiri to return the nodelist of nodes of the element for some reason I seem to have missed something obvious and I just for the life of me cannot get it to parse the list of nodes and return them to me, is there something simple I can do to fix to have it return the list of nodes?   • How can this PHP/FQL code be modified to increase the performance and usability?

    I try to get some insights from the pages I am administrator on Facebook. What my code does, it gets the IDs of the pages I want to work with through mySQL. I did not include that part though.After this, I get the page_id, name and fan_count of each of those facebook IDs and are saved in fancounts[]. Using the IDs ( pages[] ) I get two messages max from each page. There may be no messages, there may be 1 or 2 messages max. Possibly I will increase it later. messages[] holds the messages of each page. I have two problems with it. It has a very slow performance I can't find a way to echo the data like this: ID - Name of the page - Fan Count Here goes the first message Here goes the second one //here is a break ID - Name of the page 2 - Fan Count Here goes the first message of page 2 Here goes the second one of page 2 My questions are, how can the code be modified to increase performance and show the data as above? I read about fql.multiquery. Can it be used here? Please provide me with code examples.   • How to fine tune FluentNHibernate's auto mapper?

    Okay, so yesterday I managed to get the latest trunk builds of NHibernate and FluentNHibernate to work with my latest little project. (I'm working on a bug tracking application.) I created a nice data access layer using the Repository pattern. I decided that my entities are nothing special, and also that with the current maturity of ORMs, I don't want to hand-craft the database. So, I chose to use FluentNHibernate's auto mapping feature with NHibernate's "hbm2ddl.auto" property set to "create". It really works like a charm. I put the NHibernate configuration in my app domain's config file, set it up, and started playing with it. (For the time being, I created some unit tests only.) It created all tables in the database, and everything I need for it. It even mapped my many-to-many relationships correctly. However, there are a few small glitches: All of the columns created in the DB allow null. I understand that it can't predict which properties should allow null and which shouldn't, but at least I'd like to tell it that it should allow null only for those types for which null makes sense in .NET (eg. non-nullable value types shouldn't allow null). All of the nvarchar and varbinary columns it created, have a default length of 255. I would prefer to have them on max instead of that. Is there a way to tell the auto mapper about the two simple rules above? If the answer is no, will it work correctly if I modify the tables it created? (So, if I set some columns not to allow null, and change the allowed length for some other, will it correctly work with them?) EDIT: I managed to achieve the above by using Fluent NHibernate's convention API. Thanks to everyone who helped! However, there is one more thing: after checking out the convention API, I really would like my IDs to be calld "ID", not "Id", but it seems to me that the PrimaryKey.Name.Is(x => "ID") is not working at all. If I add it to the conventions collection and rewrite my entities' properties to "ID" instead of "Id", it throws an exception that there is no primary key mapped. Any thoughts on this?

  • How can I replicate YUI's getElementsBy using Prototype?

    I'm moving some code from YUI to javascript and some of it is using YUI's YAHOO.util.Dom.getElementsBy(function). I've been reading through the prototype API docs and haven't been able to find something equivalent. It needs to be able to take an arbitrary function not just select off a CSS selector or the like. Can anyone suggest to me the best way to accomplish this in Prototype?
