• How do I suppress the "notify Microsoft" crash dialogs when I call a command from Perl?

  I am calling a command-line program from my Perl script. When these programs crash, I am prompted with a messagebox asking me if I want to notify Microsoft. Since this is an automated system it would be desirable if I could suppress that message and continue with other things in my script. Is this possible?

  I'm going to be switching back and forth between Ruby on Rails projects and some as-of-yet undecided PHP MVC framework projects. Which of the PHP MVC frameworks out there (CakePHP, CodeIgniter?, others?) is most similar to Ruby on Rails in that the most conventions, locations, workflows, etc are preserved? I'm looking for the similarity in the way things are done such as directory structures, conventions, etc, not a pros vs cons in speed, extra features, etc.

  Hi. I have a process where one of the things to do is to capture the output from a print into a file for further processing. For this I have configured a "FILE:" printer port which works very nicely but asks everytime for the file name to use. Unfortunately "FILE" is not a very descriptive word when trying to use a search engine :( Is there a small driver somewhere which does exactly the same as the FILE: driver, but can automatically generate a filename (perhaps based on a pattern) and just print to that?

• How do I get jquery & mootools to play nice?

  I've been using Mootools 1.2.4 as my JS framework of choice. I've added Checkout by Amazon to one of my pages, and they inject jQuery 1.2.6 into the page and messes up my dollar function (among other things). I have control over Mootools, but not jQuery. I would rather not rewrite my existing code to accomodate jQuery since Checkout by Amazon was an afterthought and plug-in element. Any thoughts or suggestions are recommended. Thanks!

• C# Search for subdirectory (not for files)...

  Every example I see seems to be for recursively getting files in subdirectories uses files only. What I'm trying to do is search a folder for a particular subdirectory named "xxx" then save that path to a variable so I can use it for other things. Is this possible without looping through all the directories and comparing by name?

I want to make a copy of it, and tried the following: @b = dclone(\@a) but then when I try to read one of the scalar values from b, I get nothing back. Everything appears to work when I copy it this way, though: @b = @{dclone(\@a)} What is the reason?

• When Something Occurs in a BackgroundWorker, Trigger Code on a Different Thread?

  I have a background worker that runs and looks for stuff, and when it finds stuff, I want to update my main WinForm. The issue that I'm having is that when I try to update my WinForm from my background worker, I get errors that tell me I can't modify things that were made outside of my background worker (in other words, everything in my form). Can someone provide a simple code example of how I can get my code to work the way I want it to? Thanks!

How could I have it (when the form submits) display the div #notice for 5 seconds, then fadeOut?

I've seen examples in latex for things like \principaladvisor{} but that seems to be done with the thesis class. I'm guessing with the article class I'd list the advisor as a co-author or something.   hey Folks, Is there any way in ruby to get the memory address of objects.. say.. (i = 5) is that possible to get the mem address of that object 5.. 'object_id_' is not that satisfying.. • In Emacs, how can I see which slime version is being used?

  I just upgraded my slime using elpa in Emacs. But I wonder if things are like they should be now, because when I removed the old version using elpa, it complained it could not remove a certain folder. So, when I start up Emacs (I know, I shouldn't have closed it), how I can see which slime version actually gets used? Is there a command like M-x slime-version ?
