    Hi I have some controls on an asp.net modal which I show manually via code behind. Now I am trying to attach a selector on one of the controls inside pageLoad(), problem being is that the modal container is initially set to visible=false. I tried checking for length but it still throws exception if ($('#<%= myControl.ClientId %>').length > 0) { $('#<%= myControl.ClientID %>').click(function() { // Do work }); } Compiler Error Message: CS0103: The name 'myControl' does not exist in the current context

    Need to apply a var to a statement if its conditions are met, this syntax isn't throwing errors but its not working. <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function(){ var action_is_post = false; //stuff here $(this).ready(function () { if ($("#stepDesc0").is(".current")) { action_is_post = true; } }); //stuff here </script> should I use something other than .ready? Do I even need the $(this).ready(function ()... part? I need it to apply the var when #stepDesc0 has the class current.

  • Passing data to a jQuery click() function

    Hi I have a simple span like so <span class="action removeAction">Remove</span> This span is within a table, each row has a remove span. And then I call a URL using AJAX when that span is clicked. The AJAX event needs to know the ID of the object for that row? What is the best way of getting that ID into the click function? I thought I could do something like this <span class="action removeAction" id="1">Remove</span> But an ID should not start with a number? Right? Then I thought I could do <span class="action removeAction" id="my1">Remove</span> Then just strip the 'my' part from the ID, but that just seems Yuk! Below is my click event and where my AJAX event is. <script type="text/javascript" language="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function() { $(".removeAction").click(function() { //AJAX here that needs to know the ID } }); </script> I am sure there is a nice way of doing this?     hi, i got the following code var zieldiv = $(this).attr(\'id\'); $.ajax({ url: \'index.php?params\', type: \'POST\', data: { color:thenewcolor, zieldiv:zieldiv }, timeout: 50000, beforeSend: function() { $("#" + zieldiv).css({background: "#" + thenewcolor} ); } }); I use this for dragging a small div into a bigger div. the variable at the beginnning would give out the string "test1". So in the ajax.thing the css of a div which matches the var zieldiv should be updatet. Problem is, if i would place a string instead a var into the $(...) like $("#test1") it acts like its supposed to, the #test1 gets updated. but if i use the var $("#" + zieldiv) the parent div, which is surrounding the #test1-div gets updated. but i know for sure the var zieldiv contains the string "test1", because when passing it to php it contains "test1". so i think this is a little strange. do you have any ideas? thanx, maschek

This is the code to make it fading out: $('#block-block-1').mouseout(function() { $(this).css("display","none"); }); The issue here is that the 'mouseout' event is triggered when the mouse is over the children elements inside my div. And the parent disappears even if the mouse is still inside it.

If the username in a server, then it is returning the value as "1" otherwise empty, and despite of successfully getting the value from the server based on username is present or not, and assigning the value to variable "x", I'm unable to get message when I pass already exist username.     Why would POST work but not GET? I'm not using [AcceptVerbs(HttpVerbs.Post)]. I'm calling this: public ActionResult GetTest(string key) { var test = new { HelpTest = key }; return Json(test); } And it works when I do this: $.post("/Home/GetTest", { key: options.key }, function(helpTest) { alert(helpTest.HelpTest); }); But not this: $.get("/Home/GetTest", { key: options.key }, function(helpTest) { alert(helpTest.HelpTest); }); Why would this be? Using GET returns an XMLHttpRequest.status of 500. What am I confused about?

    I have a bunch of images each with the float: left property applied to them. They are constrained withing a 400px width area, forcing them into a grid of 4 X 4.   • Chrome + jQuery hide/show inline

Everything works fine but at chrome when i want to show them ,it displays them as display:inline and not as display:inline-block ... The css class button_small have display:inline-block.... Firefox,IE 6+ works ok... Havent tested on safari but i hope that it would be ok... Why chrome kills inline-block? The solution was to put .css("display","inline-block") instead of .show()
