  • Attach radeon driver to specific PCI devices?

    I have two Radeon cards in this machine, a 6570 and a 6950: lspci | grep VGA: 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] nee ATI Turks [Radeon HD 6570] 02:00.0 VGA compatible controller: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] nee ATI Cayman PRO [Radeon HD 6950] I'm trying to get VGA passthrough to work with KVM on Debian Wheezy, passing through the 6950 as a secondary video card to a Windows 7 guest. This works fine if I blacklist the radeon kernel module via /etc/modprobe.d/.   • Ubuntu/Windows suddenly freezes

    I've a strange problem with my ubuntu 10.04 installation. Whenever i boot into ubuntu the entire system freezes / hangs soon after (~ 2 mins in). This problem exists on my windows 7 installation too. However if i start World of Warcraft or Warcraft on windows it doesnt hang for the duration i'm playing the game. After i stop playing and exit the game my laptop hangs inside 2 mins. Here is when it gets weirder. If i disconnect the charger, the laptop doesn't hang. However when I start it in ubuntu recovery mode and drop to root shell and use the 'startx' command everything works perfectly. It comes with 2 iSCSI ports. I want to connect to two LUNs on the SAN server through two separate Targets from CentOS 5.7 64bits server. My network setup is as follows: CentOS server: Management network - 192.168.1.1 Storage network 1 - 192.168.5.2 Storage network 2 - 192.168.6.2 Promise SAN server: Management network - 192.168.1.2 iSCSI Port 1 - 192.168.5.1 iSCSI Port 2 - 192.168.6.1 I have two Logical Drives on this SAN and they are mapped as follows: Index Initiator Name LUN Mapping 0 iqn.2011-11:backup (LD0,0) 1 iqn.2011-11:template (LD1,1) Basically, I want the traffic to iqn.2011-11:backup LUN 0 through 192.168.5.1 network the traffic to iqn.2011-11:template LUN 1 through 192.168.6.1 network I don't use MPIO, just want to separate the traffic to avoid traffic jam. How do I achieve this? I am new to SAN stuff, please explain as much detail as you can. Thank you. The following are what I am doing now. After mapping the LUN to my pre-defined Initiators, the CentOS server can discover both Targets. Check your settings or try reinstalling the Hyper-V role. Hyper-V launch failed; Either VMX not present or not enabled in BIOS. ANy help would be appreciated as I am a n00b to the server world.   • Windows 7 detects my 1 TB disk as a disk with only 31 MB space

    I've added another 1 TB Western Digital disk on my computer (there is a disk with 250 GB already), and after booting to Windows 7, it recognise the disk, but in the Disk Management panel, it says the disk has only 31 MB TOTAL space, so is what it shows in the EVEREST information. And when I rebooted the computer and entered BIOS, it said the new disk has 0 MB disk capacity. Is there any way to fix this problem?

    What would be the best way to monitor a service's memory/load on the OpenSolaris platform so that one can send alerts and automate service management (restarts, etc) based on "rules"? On the linux platform I use Monit, but since OpenSolaris has SMF I thought there may be a complimentary service "built-in" if SMF doesn't have those features and I'd prefer to use a standard OpenSolaris app if there is one.

    I have the aforementioned keyboard, and occasionally the "Func" key will get unpressed. It gets especially annoying when I try to rename a file, and start winword by accident, or try to refresh a page, and nothing happens (It's the undo - no effect inside a browser usually). I know I can rebind those keys to just do nothing, but I just wanted to know why does the func mode changes by itself? Can it be something with power management/screen saver?

    I'm thinking about customizing my Windows 7's application icons, so that they all follow a specific theme (Token-like icons). This would involve using Resource Hacker (or similar) to patch each .exe. Not only this would be tiresome, but also it would require doing it again at each update of each application (nevermind that some could break just because it was tampered with). Instead, is there any way to launch an application with a specific icon? Ideally it would be something from the command-line (so I can make a shortcut), like this: launchwithicon.exe --app C:\myapp.exe --icon C:\myicon.ico Note that while it is possible to do something similar by setting the taskbar to "always combine, hide labels", I do not like this approach and instead am looking for something that works without combining the taskbar icons.

[CLIENT: ] Log Name: Application Source: MSSQLSERVER Event ID: 18456 Level: Information User: AVATOPIA\ian OpCode: Task Category: Logon i can login to the computer itself using Windows authentication. i can log into SQL Server using the local Windows Administrator account. We can connect to 8 other SQL Servers on the domain using Windows Authentication. Just this one, whitch is the only one that is 2008 R2 is failing. So i assume it's a bug with *2008 R2. Note: i cannot logon locally, or remotely, using Windows authentication. i can login locally and remotely using SQL Server Authentication. Update Note: It's not limited to SQL Server Management Studio, standalone applications that connect using Windows authentication: fail: Note: It's not a client problem, as we can connect fine to other (non-SQL Server 2008 R2 machines): i'm sure there's a technote or knowledge base article describing why SQL Server 2008 R2 is broken by default, but i can't find it. Update 2 Matt figure out the change that Microsoft made so that SQL Server 2008 R2 is broken by default: Administrators are no longer administrators All that remains is to figure out how to make Administrators administrators. One of these days i'm going to start a list of changes around Microsoft's "broken by default" initiative. Steps to reproduce the problem How do i add a group to the sysadmin fixed server role? Here's the steps i try, that don't work: Click Add: Click Object Types: Ensure that you have no ability to add groups: and click OK. Under Enter the object names to select, enter Administrators: Click Check Names, and ensure that you are not allowed to add groups: and click Cancel. Click Browse..., and ensure that you have no ability to add groups: You should now still not have added any group to the sysadmin role. Additional information SQL Server Management Studio is being run as an administrator: SQL Server is set to use Windows Authentication: tried while logged into SQL with both sa and the only other sysadmin domain account (screenshot can be supplied for those who don't believe)

Is there a utility (or patch to tcpdump(1)) to log a pcap stream to disk which: Rotates based on size of data written Prunes written files, keeping only the N most recent Does not re-use output filenames Is self-contained (Ruling out, e.g., a rotation with external pruning via crond(8)+tmpwatch(8)) Basically I want a multilog or svlogd that groks the pcap record format. The -W filecount option of tcpdump-4.0.0 "prunes" by recycling old filenames, which violates #3 above, forcing me to consult mtimes to determine recency and providing no guarantees against surprise truncation of the log file. The -G option introduces strftime(2)-specifier support in output filenames, which would give me at least second-precision in file names, but I can't figure out how to get pruning to work with this scheme.

    Hiding a user by checking the "hide from exchange address lists" from exchange management console is not working. The user still shows up in GAL. When I ran Get-Mailbox -Identity _user_ | FL I got HiddenFromAddressListsEnabled : True So the check-box is working but the user still shows up. It's been over 3 weeks since hiding the user so it's not a time issue.   • Does using cat5e cables yield any disadvantages in combination with cat6/cat6a network?

    If I were to have a fully compliant cat6 or cat6a network running through my walls... that is to say, wires and jacks... What would be the concequence of plugging a cat5e wire into one of the jacks? I'm assuming that it would still run at cat5e standards, but obviously not cat6/6a standards because the whole connection is not cat6. I only ask because it seems silly to me to make a bunch of cat6 patch cables for connections that don't really matter, like standard desktop computers and other equipment. Or will doing so hamper the whole network?

  • Oracle: FRM-41211 Error Message when starting a Report from Oracle Forms (64 Bit Windows Server)

    After installing Oracle Forms and Reports 6.0 (Patch 18) on a Windows 2008 64 Bit server we get the following error when we try to start a report from Forms. "FRM-41211 integration error: ssl failure running another product" The problem is reproducable on another server using the same Windows OS. One of the proposed solutions (extending the REPORTS60_PATH) we have already tried but that did not help solving our problem. Another tip has been to shorten the content of the path variable before installing Oracle Forms and Reports. We will try this later on another server. Any other tips or solutions for this error would be very much appreciated.

    The SQL Server sp_spaceused stored procedure is useful for finding out a database size, unallocated space, etc. However (as far as I can tell), it does not report that information for the transaction log (and looking at database properties within SQL Server Management Studio also does not provide that information for transaction logs). While I can easily find the physical space used by a transaction log by looking at the .ldf file, how can I find out how much of the log file is used and how much is unused?

I think I did everything (except for setting up rails env - for now I wanna run just pure ruby) described here: http://rvm.beginrescueend.com/integration/passenger/ But when I try to go to localhost/test.rb it doesn't interpret that file and just download it.
