  • How do I get rid of the space between <img> elements in a row in a html page?

    - by Aperture
I'm displaying 3 <img> in a row like this: <div style="width: 950px"> <img src='/UploadedImages/86.jpg' alt='' style="width: 300px; margin: 0px; padding: 0px; border: 1px solid Black" /> <img src='/UploadedImages/85.jpg' alt='' style="width: 300px; margin: 0px; padding: 0px; border: 1px solid Black" /> <img src='/UploadedImages/84.gif' alt='' style="width: 300px; margin: 0px; padding: 0px; border: 1px solid Black" /> </div> As you can see I have thin black borders around the images. My problem is that there are white spaces about 5px wide between the borders of neighbouring images and I have set the margin to be 0px but it does not work. So what is happening here?

  • Removing the Google Maps API Premier Terms-of-Use/Logo/etc. links?

    - by appr3ntice
Hi, is it legal to remove the logo/terms of use link displayed on my integrated google map (google maps premier)? The problem is that when I zoom into the map, the link tends to get longer and loger and overlays the whole website which is pretty ugly. Of course it is possible to give the div container a "overflow: hidden;" flag which helps a little. But it is still not satisfying. Thx

  • Mozilla Firefox border rendering

    - by zA
Hi, I've come across a strange thing in Firefox, which has become a problem to me. It seems that Firefox renders borders thinner than other browsers. For example I have just a simple empty div element, and nothing else on the webpage, with a border set to width:3px. In all other browsers, such as IE, Opera, Chrome and Safari, the width looks the same and is in fact 3px wide. But in Firefox I noticed that the border width seemed thinner. So I checked the border width with Firebug, under the Computed tab - Box model. And yes as I suspected, the rendered border in Firefox is thinner. The border width that Firefox rendered is actually 2.2px and not the expected 3px. This small difference with Firefox completely messes up my design. Has anyone else noticed this? Does anyone have a solution for this? Thanks in advance!

  • Proper way to use multiple stylesheets...so it WORKS?

    - by thatryan
I am making a site where I need to have styles separated for layout, colors and typography. So basically I took my main style sheet and just copied it 3 times, and in removed everything but coloring from one, everything but type related in another and etc. But when I link to them now there must be some cascade issue or something, because a lot of the type stuff is not being applied. Is there a proper way to do this?

  • HTML link over text issue

    - by user50855
I need to add a link over the entirety of a div which contains some more divs. Looks like this: div.top { width: 150px; height: 150px; position: relative; } a.link { width: 150px; height: 150px; position: absolute; top: 0; } <div class="top"> <div class="text1">Text 1</div> <div class="text2">Text 2</div> <a class="link" href="http://something"></a> </div> So I put a link inside and made it the size of the top div. Everythign works fine in Firefox, Safari and Chrome. In IE and Opera, whenever I hover mouse cursor over that area but also over a text, the cursor is changing to selection cursor, not a hand (meaning no link). Whenever I move the cursor off the text, the link is available again. How can I make the link to "cover" the text completely? I tried adding z-index: div.top { z-index: 0; } a.link { z-index: 1; } doesn't help. Any ideas?

  • What are some alternatives to ASI iMIS Content Management Systems? [closed]

    - by SLY
Possible Duplicate: Which Content Management System (CMS)/Wiki should I use? I am working with a team to select a new content management system for a large membership organization (around 25,000 members). The organization has revenue so I'm not looking for a dirt cheap solution. The site currently uses ASI iMIS which is based on ColdFusion. It's difficult to work with and not flexible for our needs. What other possible alternatives to ASI iMIS are there? Ideally the solution would have some sort of support from the vendor. So far I've come up with: Drupal/Acquia SDL Tridion Plone Ellington (probably too news like) Pinax (probably not developed enough)

  • What is causing that nasty horizontal scrollbar?

    - by fmz
I am wrapping up a few touches on a site and notice that something is forcing the horizontal scrollbar to appear way beyond the container boundaries here. I have Firebugged it to death, but still can't figure out what the offending party is. I offer quick kudos to anyone that can tell me what is wrong here. Thanks!

  • Is Bootstrap 2.1 compatible with jQuery UI?

    - by Ghopper21
It's a known problem that the older Bootstrap didn't work out of the box with jQuery UI, as you can see from this github discussion. There are a few mashups of the two, including jQuery Bootstrap by John Seigers and jQuery UI Bootstrap by Addy Osmani. Are those mashups still necessary with the new version of Bootstrap, or can you now just use Bootstrap and jQuery UI out of the box (as is alluded to vaguely in the github discussion)?

  • Style Only Underline

    - by Lynda
I have a header that is underlined using text-decoration: underline; The only problem is the line is too thin. I would like to make only the underline thicker. I have considered using border-bottom to do this but the border stretches the full width of the container and the text is centered. Doesn't work. I do not think this is possible and I am ready for the crisicm but it never hurts to ask. Never know what solutions one may come up with.

  • div popup inside td

    - by sims
I have a table with a bunch of cells. (No way! Amazing! :P) Some of the cells have a small div that when you put your mouse over, it gets bigger so you can read all the text. This works well and all. However, since html elements that come later in the document have a higher z-index, when the div gets bigger it is underneath the other divs in the other cells. Some html code: <table> <tr> <td> limited info <div style="position: relative;"> <div style="position: absolute; top: 0; left: 0; width: 1em; height: 1em;" onmouseover="tooltipshow(this)" onmouseout="tooltiphide(this)"> informative long text is here </div> </div> </td> <td> some short info <div style="position: relative;"> <div style="position: absolute; top: 0; left: 0; width: 1em; height: 1em;" onmouseover="tooltipshow(this)" onmouseout="tooltiphide(this)"> longer explanation about what is really going on that covers the div up there ^^^. darn! </div> </div> </td> </tr> </table> Some js code: function tooltipshow(obj) { obj.style.width = '30em'; obj.style.zIndex = '100'; } function tooltiphide(obj) { obj.style.width = '1em'; obj.style.zIndex = '20'; } It doesn't matter if I set z-index dynamically to something higher onmouseover. It's like z-index has no affect. I think it has something to do with the table. I've tested this in FF3. When I'm feeling particularly macho, I'll test it in IE.

  • What's the proper workaround for creating a div with a table in it with images in the table?

    - by Noor
    I want this: <div id="display"> <div id="slideshow1"> <table cellspacing=0><tr><td style="height:200px;padding:0;vertical-align:middle"> <img ... /> </td></tr></table> </div> </div> And I'm using this: var thelistt = localStorage.getItem('thelist') var trt = document.createElement("div"); trt.setAttribute("Id","slideshow1"); trt.className="pics"; $('#display').append(trt); var tble = document.createElement("table"); tble.setAttribute("cellspacing","0"); tble.innerHTML = "<tr><td style='height:200px;padding:0;vertical-align:middle'>"; $('#slideshow1').append(tble); trt.innerHTML += thelistt; This creates a div, then a table, closes the table, then images, then closes div.. Isn't there a smoother way to not do all this, if someone'd take a look at my current code i''m sure you'd get a good laugh : http://hem.bredband.net/noor/bildspelet3.html (you need to click on edit and put in two or more urls directly to images)

  • opacity in ie using absolutely positioned divs not working

    - by camomileCase
    I've been banging my head against the wall for a few hours how trying to sort this out. I'm trying to position one div on top of another for the purpose of fading one in on top of the other. The divs will have an image and some other html in them. I cannot get opacity to work in ie8. I've simplified my html as much as possible: <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/strict.dtd"> <html> <head> <style> * { margin: 0; padding: 0; } .carousel-container { position: relative; } .carousel-overlay { position: absolute; } #carousel-container-a { opacity: 1; -ms-filter: "progid:DXImageTransform.Microsoft.Alpha(Opacity=100)"; filter: progid:DXImageTransform.Microsoft.Alpha(Opacity=100); } #carousel-container-b { opacity: 0; -ms-filter: "progid:DXImageTransform.Microsoft.Alpha(Opacity=0)"; filter: progid:DXImageTransform.Microsoft.Alpha(Opacity=0); } h1 { font-size: 100px; } </style> </head> <body> <div id="carousel-container-a" class="carousel-container"> <div class="carousel-overlay" style="left: 10px; top: 10px;"> <h1 style="color: black;">Showcase</h1> </div> <!-- other elements removed for simplicity --> </div> <div id="carousel-container-b" class="carousel-container"> <div class="carousel-overlay" style="left: 20px; top: 20px;"> <h1 style="color: red;">Welcome</h1> </div> <!-- other elements removed for simplicity --> </div> </body> </html> Why doesn't the opacity work? How can I make it work?

  • Anchors requiring multiple clicks to fire

    - by novaurora
'This is bizarre bug. I have CSS3 anchors/buttons, which I've continued to strip properties out of, that sometimes require multiple clicks to fire. I've never seen anything like it. http://votizen.com Sometimes it happens, sometimes it doesn't. So it's very tough to pin down. If anyone is interested in helping me, check out the page and the source code on the large 'Sign in with Facebook' or 'Sign in with Twitter' buttons. Thank you!

  • How to design websites for all display sizes

    - by katie bekell
I like to use a lot of unique graphics on my pages, which often results in making different page sizes depending on available screen width/height. Here are two examples: http://www.uvm.edu/~areid/homesite/ - the image floats at the bottom of my screen but on a larger browser, the image floats near the middle making it look off. It looks best when the bottom of the window aligns with the bottom of the image www.stevenlebel.com - it loads two different pages depending on what monitor size is detected. This seems like a lot of redundant coding. My question is, how can I make sliced/Photoshop images transition well to different screen sizes. Does Photoshop allow you to make DIVS instead of tables? Can i make each of the slices created by Photoshop grow/shrink when the browser window size changes? If anyone has any input on creating websites like this I would be very interested to hear what they have to say. Thanks Katie
