    I need to add multiple records based on data from another table where the event is the same. I've found on this forum insert into table2(id,name) select "001",first_name from table1 where table1.id="001" as possible solution for my question. So I thought this should be the following syntax: insert into reservations(event,seat) select "99",id from seats where seats.id>0 to add all seats to event 99. However when I run this query mysql gives the message 'MySQL returned an empty resultset (0 rows). (query 0.0028 sec)' and no records were added. I translated the message so could be sligthly different. When I only use the "select "99",id from seats where seats.id0" query, it returns me 1080 rows.

  • MVC 2 Entity Framework View Model Insert

    This is driving me crazy. Hopefully my question makes sense... I'm using MVC 2 and Entity Framework 1 and am trying to insert a new record with two navigation properties. I have a SQL table, Categories, that has a lookup table CategoryTypes and another self-referencing lookup CategoryParent. EF makes two nav properties on my Category model, one called Parent and another called CategoryType, both instances of their respective models. On my view that creates the new Category, I have two dropdowns, one for the CategoryType and another for the ParentCategory. When I try and insert the new Category WITHOUT the ParentCategory, which allows nulls, everything is fine. As soon as I add the ParentCategory, the insert fails, and oddly (or so I think) complains about the CategoryType in the form of this error: 0 related 'CategoryTypes' were found. 1 'CategoryTypes' is expected. When I step through, I can verifiy that both ID properties coming in on the action method parameter are correct. I can also verify that when I go to the db to get the CategoryType and ParentCategory with the ID's, the records are being pulled fine. Yet it fails on SaveChanges(). All that I can see is that my CategoryParent dropdownlistfor in my view, is somehow causing the insert to bomb. Please see my comments in my httpPost Create action method.     What's the method used on Solaris to get the system to rescan for new disks that have been hot-plugged on a SATA controller? I've got an HP X1600 NAS which had 9 drives configred in a ZFS pool. I've added 3 disks, but the format command still only shows the original 9. The Month sheets have an identical structure. The first sheet is supposed to provide an overview to the most important numbers in the month sheets. What I would like to do is this: Whenever I add a Month sheet, I want it to appear automatically in the Overview sheet with the structure given below. So, for each Month sheet, copy or reference some of the cells into the Overview sheet: {Referenced Sheet Name} | Fixed Header1 | Fixed Header2 | Fixed Header3 Fixed Label 1 | {CellRef 1} | {CellRef 2} | {CellRef 3} Fixed Label 2 | {CellRef 4} | {CellRef 5} | {CellRef 6} I know how do to this for just one sheet by hand, but I have no clue how to make OOO do this automatically for me.     I get the ERROR: 3073 Operation must use an updateable query SOMETIMES, while performing an INSERT statment. I have no problem on my windows 7 PC, but the person I am writing this for sometimes gets the error. She also has MS Access 2010 on Windows 7. As I said I have never got it on my PC, and she only gets it sometimes. The code will insert a number of rows and then through the error, and other times not through the erro at all. The error occurs if I have the code and data in one .mdb file or seperate files.     First off, we are using JPA 2.0 and Hibernate 3.5 as persistence provider on a PostgreSQL database. We successfully use the sequence of the database via the JPA 2.0 annotations as an auto-generated value for single-field-surrogate-keys and all works fine. Now we are implementing a bi-temporal database-scheme that requires a mixed key in the following manner: Table 1: id (pk, integer, auto-generated-sequence) validTimeBegin (pk, dateTime) validTimeEnd (dateTime) firstName (varChar) Now we have a problem. You see, if we INSERT a new element, the field id is auto-generated and that's fine. So my question is: Is there a way to tell hibernate via JPA to stop auto-generating the id-field in the case I want to generate a new variety of the same person and go on as usual in every other case or do I have to take over the whole id-generation with custom code?     I'm getting started with Fluent NHibernate, and NHibernate in general. I'm trying to do something that I feel is pretty basic, but I cant quite get it to work. I'm trying to add a new entry to a simple table. Here's the Entity class. public class Product { public Product() { id = 0; } public virtual int id {get; set;} public virtual string description { get; set; } } Here's its mapping. public class ProductMap : ClassMap<Product> { public ProductMap() { Id(p => p.id).GeneratedBy.Identity().UnsavedValue(0); Map(p => p.description); } } I've tried that with and without the additional calls after Id(). And the insert code: var p = new Product() { description = "Apples" }; using (var s = _sf.CreateSession()) { s.Save(new_product); s.Flush(); } where _sf is a properly configured SessionSource. When I execute this code, I get: NHibernate.AssertionFailure : null identifier, which makes sense based on the SQL that NHibernate is executing: INSERT INTO "Product" (description) VALUES (@p0);@p0 = 'Apples' It doesnt seem to be trying to set the Id field, which seems ok (on its face) since the DB should generate that. But its not, I think. The DB schema is autogenerated by FNH: var config = Fluently.Configure().Database(MsSqlCeConfiguration.Standard.ShowSql().ConnectionString(@"Data Source=Database1.sdf")); var SessionSource = new SessionSource(config.BuildConfiguration().Properties, new ModelMappings()); var Session = SessionSource.CreateSession(); SessionSource.BuildSchema(Session); CreateInitialData(Session); Session.Flush(); Session.Clear(); I'm sure to be doing tons of things wrong, but whats the one thats causing this error?

    Hi 'overflow! I'm having a bit trouble inserting into a mssql database using Entity Framework. There's two tables that I want to insert into, where one of table 1s fields is a foreign key in table2. This is the code I have so far: Media media = null; foreach(POI p in poiList) { media = new Media() { Path = p.ImagePath, Title = p.Title }; if (media != null && !context.Media.Any(me => me.Title == p.ImageTitle)) { context.AddToMedia(media); context.SaveChanges(); } PointOfInterest poi = new PointOfInterest() { Altitude = 2000.0, ID = p.ID, Latitude = p.Latitude, Longitude = p.Longitude, LatitudeRoute = p.LatitudeRoute, LongitudeRoute = p.LongitudeRoute, Description = p.Description, Title = p.Title, DefaultImageID = media.ID, }; context.AddToPointOfInterest(poi); } context.SaveChanges(); The following gives me this error: An object with the same key already exists in the ObjectStateManagerAn object with the same key already exists in the ObjectStateManager I'm still learning how to use the entity framework, so I don't even know if this would be the right approach to insert into two referenced tables.   • Using ContentProviderOperation to update and insert contacts

    Hello, I faced the problem updating/insertng contacts on Android 2.0+. There is no problem to insert a new contact when phone book is empty but when I did it 2nd time some fileds like TEL, EMAIL are doubled and tripped etc. but N, FN, ORG are ok (one copy). After getting and advice of other member this forum I updated a contact first and then ContentProviderResult[] returned uri's with null then I do an insert action and it went ok but after that I made an update and all contacts are aggregated into one - i got 1 contact insted 3 which existed in phone book. This one was damaged, the contact fields are randomly built. I set Google account.
