  • Debug in Eclipse - ClassNotFoundException

    Hi all, when i debug in Eclipse a simple console application, I get a lot of ClassNotFoundException lines in the debug Window. It is not an error, somewhat lower in another pane I get "Source not found.". I understand that it is because the source code of the required class is not available, buI would like to skip over these lines... I have to press a lot of times the "step over" or "step out" button to get out of these states. What can I do in order to avoid these useless lines at all? Thanks

    In the software world, it seems to me that SCM is an unfortunately overloaded acronym. It can mean:- Source Code Management Software Configuration Management Which one of these is the dominant term? Do they mean the same thing? To me Source Code Management is essentially synonymous with Version Control. Whereas Software Configuration Management is a larger subject, which potentially includes Build and Release Management as well. However looking on Wikipedia, it lists Subversion as a Software Configuration Management tool, which is at most only tangentially true. Build and Software Management has come up before, but nothing definitive has been said on the matter, unfortunately.

  • Replication - User defined table type not propogating to subscriber

    I created a User defined table type named tvp_Shipment with two columns (id and name) . generated a snapshot and the User defined table type was properly propogated to all the subscribers. I was using this tvp in a stored procedure and everything worked fine. Then I wanted to add one more column created_date to this table valued parameter.I dropped the stored procedure (from replication too) and also i dropped and recreated the User defined table type with 3 columns and then recreated the stored procedure and enabled it for publication When i generate a new snapshot, the changes in user defined table type are not propogated to the subscriber. The newly added column was not added to the subscription. the Error messages: The schema script 'usp_InsertAirSa95c0e23_218.sch' could not be propagated to the subscriber.   • Would Mercurial help me work from 2 PCs?

    I currently use Perforce for source control, but want to start working on the code from 2 different PCs at the same time (desktop and laptop). The laptop would not be able to access the perforce server very often, which makes Perforce a poor choice in this setup. Distributed source control tools like Mercurial seem better suited to the task, but I am still not clear if this would work or not. Does anyone have any experience of using Mercurial to work on 2 machines at once (eg desktop in the week, laptop in evening and weekends). Does it help, or is it still a pain the butt keeping everything in sync and knowing what is going on.

  • Is "non breaking change" a common term in revision control?

    Non breaking change is a term used to describe minor contributions which are supposed to not break anything and is abbreviated as NBC. Typical example include formatting a source file or adding a comment - it really, really should not break the build (of course there are always exceptional cases). Is this a common term in revision control talk? I'm especially asking those familiar with RC systems. I use "NBC" on occasion but I never heard anyone else using it so I wondered... (btw: Don't trust wikipedia as a source on this)

    I have a set of buttons on my master page (I have attached the code below) but no onclick event is being raised. I pulled the final page source and no onclick event was present. As you can see I tried a few different approaches to solve the problem. I am looking for a normal postback to the server but I am getting nothing when I click any of these buttons.     Im looking for a nice demo/sample using Windows Mobile Managed Gestures. I have a main view that contains a single panel. Every item in the panel is another panel containing pictureBox and a label. I would like to implement scrooling (finger flicking) to avoid using thin scroolers. Are the Windows Mobile Managed Gestures the right solution to get this working, if so can some one provide me with a begginers demo? I downloaded the source code from http://code.msdn.microsoft.com/gestureswm/Release/ProjectReleases.aspx?ReleaseId=3438 but i would need a simple example using this source. Also a question ... does this work only on 6.5? Even if i got this working is there a way to support this in 6.0 ? thanx!

The paths are correct, it works by getting the folder name in the URL, it does work, but nothing works for the thumbnails folder. BEFORE you ask this related question, yes, thumbnails generation does work on my server by the PHP GD, I have tested it separately. So this is not the problem. :) How do I get this to work? :(

  • Simple way to reorder methods of a Java class in IntelliJ?

    Is there a simpler way of reordering methods within a class source file in IntelliJ than cutting and pasting the code manually? Nowadays I often need this while refactoring legacy code, e.g. to move related methods close to each other in the source code. In Eclipse AFAIK there is a view similar to the Structure view of IntelliJ, where I can drag and drop methods around. However, this does not work in IntelliJ and I couldn't find any hints from its help either. I am using IntelliJ 9.0.2 to be specific.

My VS stops working after 5 p.m. most of days with complaining can not connect Source Safe. I'm running VS 2008 and VSS 2005 on Vista and no other one in corporate have such a problem. What do you think about its cause? Is there any log for VSS?

Rows(j).Delete I just wondered whether someone may be able to look at this please and let me know where I'm going wrong, or perhaps even suggest a more efficient process of allowing the user to merge the workbooks.     Is it possible to fix/bypass non-UTF8 encoded svn:log records when syncronizing repositories with svnsync? Background I'm in the process of taking over the maintenance of an open source module that is stored within a large (well over 10,000 revisions) subversion (1.5.5) repository. I do not have admin access to the remote repository to dump/filter/load the module. The old repository is being discontinued and I am trying to sync the original sub module to my local (1.6+) repository with svnsync. For example: svnsync file://home/svn/temp-repo/ http://path.to.repo/modulename/ The problem is that the old repository didn't enforce UTF8 encoding and I'm hitting errors like: svnsync: Cannot accept 'svn:log' property because it is not encoded in UTF-8 I can't modify the log property in the source repository so I need to somehow modify or ignore the property value when the encoding is unknown/invalid. Any ideas? For example, is it possible to write a pre-revprop-change script to modify the log property in transit?

    I have been banging my head with this one more the two weeks, and still don't know what the problem is ( I can't narrow it down). The problem is the following. I have a solution with 3 project in it all written in c# and I with LINQ. One project is the main web site, the other is the data layer (communication with the database) and the third one is a custom little CMS. The problem is the following: On a hosting provider when I publish the site it all works perfectly, but this site was needed to be hosted on the client server so I needed to do that. But the problem is that I also needed to configure the client server, because they don't have an Administrator employed (I know, I know ;) ). For the first time I some how managed, to set it up but a problem appear. My main web site is working just as it suppose to be - it reads (communicates with) the database, but My CMS is not. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. So far I have tried the following: -setting time out on connection string to a higher value -configuration and after that turning off server firewall -checking the connection string over and over again (they are the same for all three projects and are saved in web.config) Important notes: I have tried executing the project from VS2008 with a connection string to the same database and the results are the same. That's why I think the problem is the SQL Server 2005 and not the IIS7. Any bit of information is more then welcomed.

I have no experience with version control systems except of using Visual Source Safe in a project done by 2 people sitting in front of each other (which has shown VSS quite sack of boulders, not anything useful). Right now I am looking to grok-in using some modern VCS. Here are the preferences in descending priority order: Platform-agnostic. Pretty pleasant to use With Visual Studio 2010 on Windows as well as With NetBeans 6.9 and Eclipse 3.6 on Linux and Mac. Convenient and efficient for mutually-dependent projects done by teams of 1-10 and consisting of files of quite a diverse selection of types. Including early-stage projects with unstable design and experimenting. Modern. As fresh and future-technology-feature-rich as possible. Free & open-source. Should I take a closer look at SVN, Mercurial, GIT, Bazaar, or something else?

  • Will there be IQueryable-like additions to IObservable? (.NET Rx)

    The new IObservable/IObserver frameworks in the System.Reactive library coming in .NET 4.0 are very exciting (see this and this link). It may be too early to speculate, but will there also be a (for lack of a better term) IQueryable-like framework built for these new interfaces as well? One particular use case would be to assist in pre-processing events at the source, rather than in the chain of the receiving calls. For example, if you have a very 'chatty' event interface, using the Subscribe().Where(...) will receive all events through the pipeline and the client does the filtering. What I am wondering is if there will be something akin to IQueryableObservable, whereby these LINQ methods will be 'compiled' into some 'smart' Subscribe implementation in a source. I can imagine certain network server architectures that could use such a framework. Or how about an add-on to SQL Server (or any RDBMS for that matter) that would allow .NET code to receive new data notifications (triggers in code) and would need those notifications filtered server-side.
