  I'm trying to link my 3rd party shopping cart to PayPal, and in the process I'm finding that my variables are extremely exposed, such that, if someone uses, say, Firebug, to manipulate the values of my variables, they can change the cost of the items in the transaction. I'm very new to online carts and shopping, so my question is how do I keep this layer of exposure away from users and secure for the website?

Now I would like to add an option for the users to create PDF on the fly with the details on current page (images and information) and header and footer.   Hey guys, the scenario is this: see select below <form name="limit"> <select name="limiter" onChange="limit(this.value)"> <option selected="selected">&nbsp;</option> <option value="5">5</option> <option value="10">10</option> <option value="15">15</option> </select> </form> I want whenever any option is selected for 3 things to happen: 1.) js limit() function is called which all it does its takes current url, adds new query parameter 'limit' with the user selected value eg: http://localhost/blahblah/apps/category.php?pg=1&catId=3021&limit=5 (this will cause the category.php page to be hit and # of product displayed limited to the value selected by user) 2.)Once the url is hit, it reloads but i DONT want the value selected to reset back to the default (which it currently does). I want it to reflect the users selection after page reload. 3.) Also, when i move to the next page (pagination), i would like the state to be carried ova to the next page (ie. remembering the user selection).

  Most websites tend to have either a solid color as background, or a small image that is repeated. Why aren't more websites using a large image (such as a photo) as background? I can think of the following reasons: 1) Problems with different screen resolutions. Too small and gaps start to appear on the left and/or right side for higher resolutions, too big and lower resolutions only show part of the image. 2) Bandwidth. Although this is unlikely to be a problem for most websites. Are there any other reasons why such backgrounds are not being used more often?

• Using jQuery to disable CSS inheritance

  Is there a way to use jQuery (or generic javascript) to disable CSS inheritance on a block level? For example, if I am pulling in an external resource via javascript, say pastie.org, they will have their own CSS that my CSS overrides. I would like to place the embed code into its own container that has CSS inheritance disabled. This is not my own CSS structure, so I can't rename IDs Classes or inline anything to make it work, the holy grail of inheritance blocking is my last resort.

• Overlapping images w/ image maps obstructing each other

  Information: The images have large transparent sections, so each must be overlapped to create the needed effect. Specifically, the clickable portions of each image are in weird trapezoid shapes meant to be pressed up against each other. Images have image maps with large portions being overlapped by the transparent portions of other nearby (trapezoid) images. I don't expect any change in z indexes will solve this... Combining the image files into a larger single one to overlay a single image map for each section seems less than ideal, especially since I may need to re-order or rename them later and such. Never mind hover animations and other possibilities down the road. What would be the best workaround?

• Java regex replace multiple file paths in a large String

  So a Regex pro I am not, and I'm looking for a good way to do this. I have a large string which contains a variable number <img> tags. I need to change the path on all of these images to images/. The large string also contains other stuff not just these img's. <img src='http://server.com/stuff1/img1.jpg' /> <img src='http://server.com/stuff2/img2.png' /> Replacing the server name with a ReplaceAll() I could do, it's the variable path in the middle I'm clueless on how to include. It doesn't necessarily need to be a regex, but looping through the entire string just seems wasteful.

• can't click on input element behind div element

  On my site: http://alsite.com.br/solalev/ I have some elements on the bottom of page that I can't click through. Above the elements is a div called push.. I use this div to make the footer always stay on the bottom of my page even when the content is smaller... (I dont know if I do this right.. but it has worked).. So.. on Chrome and Firefox I can't click.. but on IE this works.... I use this: .push{ pointer-events: none; } but nothing happens...

On that page you can see a drop-down box under Order Information, Product. I want to remove the prices from all the options that contain them in that box, so get rid of " - $75.98" for example. I am not used to JQuery, but I realize it would be possible - just not sure how to do it, so your help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. George

I have a simple MVC application and my view is missing one thing I could really use. I want to select a local file just to retrieve it's filename.   I have a downloader program that download pages from internet . the encoding of each page is different , some are in UTF-8 and some are Unicode. For example : &#97; that shows 'a' character ; pages full of this characters .We should convert this encodings to normal text . I used the UnicodeEncoding class in c# , but they do not help me . How can i decode this encodings to real characters? Is there a class or method that converting this ? Thanks .

  There is a website I am trying to pull information from in Perl, however the section of the page I need is being generated using javascript so all you see in the source is: <div id="results"></div> I need to somehow pull out the contents of that div and save it to a file using Perl/proxies/whatever. e.g. the information I want to save would be document.getElementById('results').innerHTML; I am not sure if this is possible or if anyone had any ideas or a way to do this.
