  • How to use JQuery to truncate the contents of option tags?

    - by George
Hello! Please take a look here: http://www.binarymark.com/Products/FLVDownloader/order.aspx What I am trying to do is to get rid of the prices inside the option tag. On that page you can see a drop-down box under Order Information, Product. I want to remove the prices from all the options that contain them in that box, so get rid of " - $75.98" for example. I am not used to JQuery, but I realize it would be possible - just not sure how to do it, so your help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. George

  • Drop down table and jquery

    - by Marcelo
    Hi, I'm trying to make a drop down table using jQuery, with a similar code like here: (from the topic: Conditional simple drop down list?) <body> <div id="myQuestions"> <select id="QuestionOptions"> <option value="A">Question A</option> <option value="B">Question B</option> </select> </div> <div id="myAnswers"> <div id="A" style="display: none;"> <div id="QuestionC"> <p>Here is an example question C.</p> </div> <div id="QuestionD"> <select id="QuestionOptionsD"> <option value="G">Question G</option> <option value="H">Question H</option> </select> </div> </div> <div id="B" style="display: none;"> <div id="QuestionE"> <p>Here is an example question E.</p> </div> <div id="QuestionF"> <select id="QuestionOptionsF"> <option value="I">Question I</option> <option value="J">Question J</option> </select> </div> </div> </div> And the jQuery part $(function () { $('#QuestionOptions').change(function () { $('#myAnswers > div').hide(); $('#myAnswers').find('#' + $(this).val()).show(); }); }); My problem is, when I finish to table the part of "myQuestions", and start to table the part of "myAnswers", the dynamic part of the table doesn't work. In this case, the myAnswers part won't be hidden, it'll be shown since the beginning. I tried to put everything in one table, then I tried to create a different table for myQuestions, then another table for myAnswers and it didn't work. Does anyone know where am I mistaking ? Sorry for any mistake in English, I'm not a native speaker. Thanks in advance.

  • How can I center something if I don't know ahead of time what the width is?

    - by zeckdude
I am trying to center a paragraph tag with some text in it within a div, but I can't seem to center it using margin: 0 auto without having to specify a fixed width for the paragraph. I don't want to specify a fixed width, because I will have dynamic text coming into the paragraph tag and it will always be a different width based on how much text it is. Does anyone know how I can center the paragraph tag within the div without having to specify a fixed width for the paragraph or without using tables?

  • Overlapping images w/ image maps obstructing each other

    - by Hamster
Information: The images have large transparent sections, so each must be overlapped to create the needed effect. Specifically, the clickable portions of each image are in weird trapezoid shapes meant to be pressed up against each other. Images have image maps with large portions being overlapped by the transparent portions of other nearby (trapezoid) images. I don't expect any change in z indexes will solve this... Combining the image files into a larger single one to overlay a single image map for each section seems less than ideal, especially since I may need to re-order or rename them later and such. Never mind hover animations and other possibilities down the road. What would be the best workaround?

  • how to get the latitude or longitude in HTML 5

    - by steven spielberg
few month ago i write something to get the latitude or longitude from google API. latter i get the database from drupal for latitude or longitude to most of city in worlds. but the problem is that the same city name can be found two or more times in a area. like Firozabad in India and bangladesh both. Agra in UP and agar in Rajasthan. means the confusion in name by user if they found two city by same name they are confused. i hear that HTML 5 support latitude or longitude of the visiter but i need latitude or longitude where they are born or city they want to use to fill a form. how i can get the latitude or longtiude from API like google and some other. the process is that: user put the location in textbox for getting their latitude or longitude. for right thing i want to show them all location [if same thing found more then one]. they can choose the right location and after click they can get the lati and langitude. how i can do this using any API.

  • Does style="color: #FFF;" render as #F0F0F0 or #FFFFFF?

    - by Dolph Mathews
When defining colors using "shorthand hexidecimal" (style="color: #FFF;"), is there a defined method for expanding the shorthand? (style="color: #F0F0F0;" or style="color: #FFFFFF;") Do all browsers use the same expansion method? Is this behavior by specification (if so, where is it defined)? Does the expansion method perhaps vary between CSS 1/2/3? I've observed that "most browsers" expand to #FFFFFF. Are there any other places where this shorthand notation is allowed, but the expansion method is different? I've always avoided using shorthand hex, because I've never known the answers to these questions...

  • Scale div in an upwards direction, instead of down?

    - by Derrick
I have a custom info window over a google map, sometimes these info windows contain an image. When they do, the info window scales down over the marker it is positioned over as soon as the image has finished loading. So the images take longer to load and the div's position has already been calculated by the time the image is finished loading. I do believe there is a way of checking if an image has finished loaded, but that seems a long route - is there not a simple way with JS or CSS to get the div to scale upwards instead of down. Anyone have any clues?

  • What's the best way to write a maintainable web scraping app?

    - by Benj
I wrote a perl script a while ago which logged into my online banking and emailed me my balance and a mini-statement every day. I found it very useful for keeping track of my finances. The only problem is that I wrote it just using perl and curl and it was quite complicated and hard to maintain. After a few instances of my bank changing their webpage I got fed up of debugging it to keep it up to date. So what's the best way of writing such a program in such a way that it's easy to maintain? I'd like to write a nice well engineered version in either Perl or Java which will be easy to update when the bank inevitably fiddle with their web site.

  • Float over two elements

    - by eWolf
My problem is rather complex to explain, so I'll show you an example: http://ewolf.bplaced.de/misc/float.htm I want to have a floated element (the blue box) to be be placed over two other elements (red and green) and I want the whole thing to be fixed-width and centered (done by the box with the black border) while the background of the red and green box should fill the whole width. I'm actually not quite sure if the way I've done it now is XHTML/CSS valid, but it works - at least in Firefox. In IE6, the green box expands to fit the whole blue box - how can I fix this in IE6 or find another solution to show it correctly in all browsers?

  • CSS to create curved corner between two elements?

    - by Tauren
My UI has an unordered list on the left. When a list item is selected, a div appears on the right of it. I'd like to have a curved outer corner where the <li> and the <div> meet. See the white arrow in the image below. To extend the blue <li> to the edge of the <ul>, I'm planning to do something like this: li { right-margin: 2em; border-radius: 8px; } li.active { right-margin: 0; border-bottom-right-radius: 0; border-top-right-radius: 0; } Is there a better way to extend the <li> to the edge of the <ul>? Obviously, I'll include the webkit and mozilla border radius CSS as well. The main thing I'm unsure about is that outer corner underneath the bottom right corner of the active <li>. I have some ideas, but they seem like hacks. Any suggestions? NOTE that the <ul> is indicated in grey, but it would be white in the real design. Also, I'm planning to use Javascript to position the <div> correctly when an <li> is selected.

  • jQuery shifting blocks of content to top on click/toggle

    - by JEBR0
I have blocks of content that are toggled on/off via jQuery and I want to have the most recent one clicked to shuffle to the top of the content area. There are 4 that can be enabled and if you do it in a random order, or even intended order, it is hard to tell which one you just opened if it's not in the view window. Here is the page for reference http://jonrcoulter.com/
