• Linq sql Attach, Update Check set to Never, but still Concurrency conflicts

  In the dbml designer I've set Update Check to Never on all properties. But i still get an exception when doing Attach: "An attempt has been made to Attach or Add an entity that is not new, perhaps having been loaded from another DataContext. This is not supported." • Load binary file using fstream

  I'm trying to load binary file using fstream in the following way: #include <iostream #include <fstream #include <iterator #include <vector using namespace std; int main() { basic_fstream<uint32_t file( "somefile.dat", ios::in|ios::binary ); vector<uint32_t buffer; buffer.assign( istream_iterator<uint32_t, uint32_t( file ), istream_iterator<uint32_t, uint32_t() ); cout << buffer.size() << endl; return 0; } But it doesn't work. In Ubuntu it crashed with std::bad_cast exception. In MSVC++ 2008 it just prints 0. I know that I could use file.read to load file, but I want to use iterator and operator>> to load parts of the file. Is that possible? Why the code above doesn't work?

  I have a similar question of how to check if you are in a transaction. Instead of checking how do i allow nested transactions? I am using Microsoft SQL File Database with ADO.NET. I seen examples using tsql and examples starting transactions using begin and using transaction names. When calling connection.BeginTransaction i call another function pass in the same connection and it calls BeginTransaction again which gives me the exception SqlConnection does not support parallel transactions. It appears many microsoft variants allow this but i cant figure out how to do it with my .mdf file. How do i allow nested transactions with a Microsoft SQL File Database using C# and ADO.NET?

• Read nested Lua table who key is a System.Double

  Using C# and LuaInterface, I am trying to read a nested table, but am getting a null LuaTable when I try to open the key containing the table. The .lua file: DB = { ["inventory"] = { [10001] = { ["row"] = 140, ["count"] = 20, }, [10021] = { ["row"] = 83, ["count"] = 3, }, [10075] = { ["row"] = 927, ["count"] = 15, }, } } I can successfully foreach the entries under inventory, by opening that table with: LuaTable tbl = lua.GetTable("DB.inventory"); foreach (DictionaryEntry de in tbl) ... What I cannot do is open an inventory item and enumerate its entries the same way. Is this because the key is a System.Double type? This fails: LuaTable tbl = lua.GetTable("DB.inventory.10001"); foreach (DictionaryEntry de in tbl) with an exception, because tbl is null. Effectively, once I enumerate the keys (inventory items), I then want to drill down into the nested table and work with those contents. As you can see, I am not able to get a reference to the nested table the way I am doing it.

  I am dealing with an interesting situation where I perform many database updates in a single transaction. If these updates fail for any reason, the transaction is rolled-back. IDbTransaction transaction try { transaction = connection.BeginTransaction(); // do lots of updates (where at least one fails) transaction.Commit(); } catch { transaction.Rollback(); // results in a timeout exception } finally { connection.Dispose(); } I believe the above code is generally considered the standard template for performing database updates within a transaction. The issue I am facing is that whilst transaction.Rollback() is being issued to SQL Server, it is also timing out on the client. Is there anyway of distinguishing between a timeout to issue the rollback command and a timeout on that command executing to completion? Thanks in advance, Ben

  I am using Joda Time library to convert my String dates to a real date, because this seemed like the easiest solution to do this. • PATH and CLASSPATH in Windows7 7 / Eclipse

  So I would like to set PATH and CLASSPATH system variables so I can use javac and java commands in the command line. I can just compile and run java programs in eclipse but I would also like to be able to run them through command line. This is where I have Java installed: C:\Program Files (x86)\Java jdk1.6.0_20 jre6 And this is where eclipse stores my Java projects: D:\java-projects HelloWorld bin HelloWorld.class src HelloWorld.java I have set up the PATH and CLASSPATH variables like this: PATH: C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jdk1.6.0_20\bin CLASSPATH: D:\java-projects But it doesn't work. When I write: java HelloWorld Or: java HelloWorld.class I get error like this: Exception in thread “main” java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: HelloWorld The error is longer, that's just the first line. How can I fix this? I'm mainly interested to be able to run compiled .class programs from the command line, I can do compiling in the eclipse.

  Hi, I launch Blackberry ESS in standalone mode. However I don't have Outlook Express on my computer. Instead I have Outlook 2007 on my computer. I set up an email account in Outlook 2007 which uses 'localhost' as its pop3/smtp server. The port numbers I used are the same as those in http://www.blackberryforums.com/developer-forum/5590-sending-receiving-email-device-simulator.html. However I got the following exception. 'UnknownHostException:pop3.server'. I am wondering if Outlook 2007 works with ESS.

• Doing Forms With Just Windows SharePoint Services 3.0?

  For the most part my organization is happy with WSS 3.0 (no upgrading to MOSS) with one exception, there is really just one form we'd like to put up somehow. It's fairly big form (basically change requests for IT services, on paper it's easily 2 full 8.5 by 11 pages). We thought about Custom ASP.NET coding as a separate stand-alone page or maybe as a web part. What have other people out there done? MOSS and Infopath is not really an option as it really is too expensive for us at this time. Thanks in advance!

• Bind a users role to dropdown?

  Hi... I'm trying to bind a selected user's role to a dropdown-list. The purpose of this is to be able to change said user's role. I'm attempting this inside a formview hooked up to a linqdatasource which contains a row from the aspnet_User table. The dropdown list is hooked up to a linqdatasource of all the roles in the aspnet_Roles table (with DataValueField="RoleID", DataTextField="RoleName"). I figured it would be possible with something like: SelectedValue='<%# Bind("aspnet_UsersInRole[0].aspnet_Role.RoleID") %>' But this throws a parser exception, about the bind call not being correctly formatted. The roles are there, they show up when I remove the "SelectedValue" Can anyone point me in the right direction?

  After a bit of searching, I've found that it's possible to instantiate a WTForms object in web.py using the following code: form = my_form(**web.input()) web.input() returns a "dictionary-like" web.storage object, but without the double asterisks WTForms will raise an exception: TypeError: formdata should be a multidict-type wrapper that supports the 'getlist' method From the Python documentation I understand that the two asterisks are used to unpack a dictionary of named arguments. That said, I'm still a bit confused about exactly what is going on. What makes the web.storage object returned by web.input() "dictionary-like" enough that it can be unpacked by ** but not "dictionary-like" enough that it can be passed as-is to the WTForms constructor? I know that this is an extremely basic question, but any advice to help a novice programmer would be greatly appreciated!

  Hi, i'm trying to 'load' the following project into visual studio 2010 but im getting errors about dynamic link libraries not being found. I have manually referenced them but it doesnt like them. The project is: http://www.codeproject.com/KB/DLL/EasyHook64.aspx 2nd link down (EasyHook_2.5_Beta_Source_Code), and the project im wishing to load is EasyHook_2.5_Beta_Source_Code\Examples\ProcessMonitor The two dlls plus 1 executable i need are found in the first link (EasyHook 2.5 beta binaries) and named EasyHook.dll, EasyHook32.dll and EasyHook32svc.exe I've been trying to do this all night but i wonder whether its because im using VS2010 and .NET 4.0?? I'd be so appreciative if someone could have a go themselves just to see if its my setup or they get errors to. The error i get is: Unable to load DLL 'EasyHook32.dll': The specified module could not be found. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x8007007E)

  Hello I must create a custom media player within the application with support for mp3 and wav files. I read in the documentation i cant seek or get the media file duration without a custom datasoruce. I checked the demo in the JDE 4.6 but i have still problems... I cant get the duration, it return much more then the expected so i`m sure i screwed up something while i modified the code to read the mp3 file locally from the filesystem. Somebody can help me what i did wrong ? (I can hear the mp3, so the player plays it correctly from start to end) I must support OSs = 4.6. • Robust C# Plugin System

  I am writing a tool which communicates with more than one version control system, either subversion or clearcase, and has various utilities which can be plugged into it. I though of using MEF to load the version control providers, and utiilities, both of which have interfaces definied for them. I've started to use MEF for this. But if loading any plugin fails (on half my clients machines, the ClearCase COM bindings won't be present, so loading will fail, on the other half SVN won't be installed, so the SVN plugin won't load) though, MEF throws an exception and no plugin works; I was hoping that the rest of the plugins would load. [ImportMany(AllowRecomposition = true)] public IEnumerable<IVersionControl> RegisteredProviders { get; private set; } Instead, if any providers fail to construct themselves, then RegisteredProviders is null. Is there a simple way of configuring MEF to achieve this (reporting exceptions but loading other instances), or do I have to change the interface to delay their intialisation failure until after MEF has instantiated the objects?

• Cascading S3 Sink Tap not being deleted with SinkMode.REPLACE

  We are running Cascading with a Sink Tap being configured to store in Amazon S3 and were facing some FileAlreadyExistsException (see [1]). This was only from time to time (1 time on around 100) and was not reproducable. Digging into the Cascading codem, we discovered the Hfs.deleteResource() is called (among others) by the BaseFlow.deleteSinksIfNotUpdate(). Btw, we were quite intrigued with the silent NPE (with comment "hack to get around npe thrown when fs reaches root directory"). From there, we extended the Hfs tap with our own Tap to add more action in the deleteResource() method (see [2]) with a retry mechanism calling directly the getFileSystem(conf).delete. The retry mechanism seemed to bring improvement, but we are still sometimes facing failures (see example in [3]): it sounds like HDFS returns isDeleted=true, but asking directly after if the folder exists, we receive exists=true, which should not happen. Logs also shows randomly isDeleted true or false when the flow succeeds, which sounds like the returned value is irrelevant or not to be trusted. Can anybody bring his own S3 experience with such a behavior: "folder should be deleted, but it is not"? We suspect a S3 issue, but could it also be in Cascading or HDFS? We run on Hadoop Cloudera-cdh3u5 and Cascading 2.0.1-wip-dev. • Automatic Schema Validation using NHibernate/ActiveRecord

  Hi, let's assume I have a table of Products with columns: Id, Name, Price and using NHibernate (or ActiveRecord) I map the table to the POCO: public class Product { public virtual long Id { get; set; } public virtual string Name { get; set; } public virtual double Price { get; set; } } Now if someday a new column named ShipmentPrice (let's assume it's double too) will be added to the Products table, is there any way I can automatically know that. For saying automatically I mean adding code to do that or getting an exception? (I assume I don't have control on the columns of the table or a way to know of any changes to the table's schema in advance)
