  • jQuery autocomplete that retrieves items from a database

    I want to provide autocomplete for users when they are filling in a text box. The values for the autocomplete should come from a mysql database that I use with the application. Can you please recommend a plugin or two that would be best suited to this. I can see that there are a number of options out there. But I was hoping that based on the answers it would be clear that one or two plugins are considered to be the better ones, and I would only have to choose from those. Thanks,

I believe it's possible to return pair values, with the pipe separator, such as........ Microsoft|10 Oracle|20 Sybase|30 And indeed this seems to work, but I don't know how to access the 2nd argument.

So I guess it doesn't send the changed cookies at all.. And for some reason I don't see the request in my Live HTTP Headers window... A few things to point out is that the title is coming from a variable escape(global_Current_ProductCode) variable=productcode in the case above it is LB30X40ES The height and weight, price and product id used in the second markup must be from the first markup. Note that these change depending on the product loaded. These are not constants. I would guess the first thing to do was to add the thickbox class. Then I am lost as to what to do next. Basically I need to open up an thickbox iframe with the modified markup.

The slideshow part seems simple enough, however I have a series of user decisions that I'm not sure how to approach. In flash, if the user makes a decision, I would just store this in a variable or shared local objects, is this the same for jQuery? i.e. mix regular javascript variables with the jQuery?

    I have an event handler that needs to do something to one of its children, based on some saved data. So what I'm currently doing is something like this: // Get the ID of 'this' item_id = $(this).attr('id'); // building a selector like $('#item1 .child_3') $('#' + item_id + ' .child_' + spVal).addClass('blah'); But this seems a little cumbersome. I've tried: $(this + ' .child_' + spVal).addClass('blah'); and it doesn't work, which doesn't really surprise me. Is there a better way to do this then the successful way I've outlined above?

  • Jquery image slider window resize scaling issue

    Hi, I have created image gallery slider, the images of which scale with the window size. My problem is I can't seem to create the right formula to ensure that the slider is at the right position when the window is scaled. If I am at the first image and the slider 'left' offset is 0 then the scaling works fine and my offset is correct, however when I am on image two and my slider is offset by say -1500 and then the window is resized, the slider is then at the wrong offset. Taking this into account I figured I could just add / subtract the new window size difference from the slider offset and therefore have everything in the right position. I was wrong. It works for the first two images but then If I am at the end of my slider on the last image I get a nice big gap between the end of the last image and the border of the page. Can someone please show my where I am going wrong please?
