  I haven't been able to use the "clear scr" command in a while, as I get the following error: root@server:~# clear The program 'clear' is currently not installed. I did some development with the ncurses library a while ago, so I've no doubt broken something.

• why is mailgraph not updating ?

  I just installed mailgraph on a Linux Ubuntu 10.04 box monitoring Postifix. Everything seems to be working fine, but the graphs are not always updating. When I refresh the web page or close the browser and come back later, the graph updates and moves to the left, showing new time, the the data line is not drawn. Sometimes it does not update for several hours. I had started, stopped and restarted mailgraph-init and that doesn't seem to make a difference. Any ideas?

• E-mail message of failed lock not identifying affected Lotus Notes documents

  I have a user who was sent several messages to his Outlook account with the following subject: Changes made to the database xxxx have NOT been incorporated into the database. There was a conflict detected. Your changes may be found in body of this message. A document link to the original document is attached to the end of the message. Unfortunately, besides the link, the body of the email is blank and the link URL is of this form: Notes:///482567CC001B4104. The link seems to be making reference to the database replica ID and clicking on the link opens up the database and not directly to the affected document. I'm finding that the message is not very useful in terms of identifying the affected document. Can anyone advise me on the ways to identify the affected documents or configure the system so that it would identify/link the affected documents?

• SharePoint Server Search Not Crawling

  Hi there, we recently moved some sites into a new farm, everything seems to be doing fine, but the search for reasons I can't identify are not crawling the migrated content. We're getting this message in our crawl log for every document: http://xxx/sites/...announcements The object was not found. (The item was deleted because it was either not found or the crawler was denied access to it.) Of course the first thing I suspected was the crawler access account, so I logged into SharePoint with the account and was able to access via that URL just fine. I tried upping permissions (even all the way up to Admin) but to no avail. Thoughts?

• Reporting Services 2008 R2 export to PDF embedded fonts not shown

  Hi, I have installed a font on the server that hosts Reporting Services 2008 R2, after that I've restarted the SSRS service, and sucessfully deployed a report with a custom font. I can see it using the font on the web, when I export it to Excel, however on PDF the font is not visible. If I click on File - Properties - Fonts. I'm presented with a screen that shows me a list of fonts on the PDF. There's an a icon with Helvetica-BoldOblique Type: Type 1 Encoding: Ansi Actual Font: Arial-BoldItalicMT Actual Font Type: TrueType The second one is a double T icon with the font I'm using and a (Embedded Subset) sufix. Its a True Type font and ANSI encoded. However the text is not using this embeded font, If I select the text and copy to a word document (I have the font installed) I can see the text in the font, however not on PDF, what's wrong here?

  When all of the following conditions are true, excel will open (most of the time) but will not open the document itself. No error is displayed. This only occurs with Excel files, Word and powerpoint do open perfectly. Conditions : OS is "Windows 7 Professional 64-bit" office is "Office 2007 Ultimate". excel file is in .xls (2003 format) excel file is password protected excel file is in "My Documents" (or a subfolder of it) file is double-clicked from explorer under Windows 7. Following options do open the excel file as it should : right click and selecting the (bold) open action single click the file and pressing enter moving the file to the desktop and double-click it. non password protected files do open from the same directory. Actions taken not resolving the problem: - reboot - repair office installation - system restore does not work because of Antivirus application installed (message from system restore, using "Symantec Internet Security 2010") Anyone any idea ?

  I am running on Windows 8 and installed Lubuntu 13.04 in VirtualBox. I cannot login to DD-WRT in Virtualbox. I can login to DD-WRT on Windows 8. I have used the same credentials and tried many times, but to no avail. How can I login successfully to DD-WRT in VirtualBox? I have even tried searching on the Internet but I could not find any relevant solutions. Additional Information: Using Chromium ( I have tried it on Firefox and it does not work ) Enabled secure shell: but it still does not work.   I have a Maintenance Plan that is suppose to go through the BACKUP folder and remove all .bak older than 5 days. When I run the job, it gives me a success message but older .bak files are still present. I've tried the step at the following question: SQL Maintenance Cleanup Task 'Success' But not deleting files Result is column IsDamaged = 0 I've verified with the following question and this is not my issue: Maintenance Cleanup Task(s) running 'successfully' but not deleting back up files. I've also tried deleting the Job and Maintenance Plan and recreating, but to no avail. Any ideas?

• Editing .bash_profile file not taking effect

  I need to put export PATH=$PATH:/opt/lampp/bin to my ~/.bash_profile file so that mysql from command line works on my system. Please check mysql command line not working for further details on that. I am working on a fedora system and logged in as root user. If I run locate .bash_profile then I get these:- /etc/skel/.bash_profile /home/sam/.bash_profile /home/sohil/.bash_profile /home/windows/.bash_profile /root/.bash_profile So, I modified the /root/.bash_profile file like this:- from PATH=$PATH:$HOME/bin export PATH to PATH=$PATH:/opt/lampp/bin export PATH But, still the change is not taking effect - Opening a new console and running mysql again says bash: mysql: command not found. However running export PATH=$PATH:/opt/lampp/bin in console makes it work for that session. So, I am doing something wrong with the .bash_profile file. May be editing incorrect one or doing the edit incorrectly.

• HP Blade ILO not responding in chassis ILO

  I have just started at a new company and I am inspecting their current server config. The HP 480c blades in a c7000 chassis aren't responding to ILO, although the chassis ILO is working fine. I have a feeling the last sysadmin configured the blades ILO as static IPs and it is not responding correctly. The servers are sitting in a datacenter and I'm hoping to be able to fix this remotely. Is there a way that I can change the ILO static IPs for the blades remotely? If not and I do have to go onsite, how do I change the IP addresses of the ILO for the blades? (Sorry I'm not very familiar with HP servers) thanks for you help!

• Perl program not getting executed in xampp

  I am very new to CGI programming in Perl. In order to learn it i installed xampp 2 days back. But I am unable to execute my perl code . The code goes as folows: #!/usr/bin/perl use CGI; $co = new CGI; print $co->header, $co->start_html(title=>'CGI Example'), $co->center($co->hi('Subhayan welcome to CGI')), $co->end_html; Have saved the code in a text file named : Subhayan1.cgi and kept it in the folder cgi-bin under xampp folder in C drive. When i try to execute this through my web browser typing : "http://localhost/cgi-bin/Subhayan1.cgi" it comes up with a "Object not found page". I checked the apache configuration file under : xampp/apache/conf/httpd.conf. I checked the entry : ScriptAlias /cgi-bin/ "C:/xampp/cgi-bin/" It looks like pointing to the correct directory. What is the issue here can anyone help please???

• Chrome not selecting correct language for Help tab

  When I click Help in Chrome, a new tab appears with the Google help links etc as expected, but I have a message saying: "This Help Centre is not currently available in your language...", etc. The drop down box at the bottom is not selected correctly for en-GB (my location). Instead it is set at the first language on the list. This happens if I am signed in to my Google account or not. Selecting English from the drop-down works ok, so no great drama. Just wondering if anybody else sees this behaviour? EDIT: Using current stable build 8.0.552.224

  Related to : Cmd-Tab does not bring iTunes to foreground There people claim that command+h will continue to work, but the behavior I'm seeing is: Launch a full screen Terminal instance (or anything else really) Launch a fresh iTunes command+h to hide it command+tab back to iTunes, this works and the main app window is given focus command+tab to Terminal command+tab to iTunes What I expect to happen: the main iTunes window is brought to the foreground and given focus. What does happen: The application menu bar shows iTunes, but an additional command+` is needed to bring the main app to foreground. I thought it might have been related to a Chrome interaction, since I'm usually commmand+tabbing between my browser and everything else, but that does not seem to be the case. I do have two "plugins" running: last.fm scrobbler Alfred app mini itunes player interface Not sure if either of those create some phantom window or something that is mixing something up. Versions of stuff: OS X: 10.6.5 iTunes: 10.1.1 (4) last.fm: can't find it, but it's recent Alfred: 0.8 (89) So after that big long rant, anyone else seeing this behavior?

We have a very old application based on Omnis7 that needs to create and read/write files on drive C: when running as a restricted user. In Windows XP to give this permission is quite trivial using cacls. cacls C:\ /G Everyone:(C) The equivalent icacls in Windows 7 will not work. icacls C:\ /Grant Everyone:(M) I have also tried the following. icacls C:\ /Grant Everyone:(F) icacls C:\ /Grant Domain\user:(F) trying to create file with a restricted user gives this C:\>copy nul text.txt Access is denied. 0 file(s) copied. After applying the icacls permissions above the result changes to this. C:\>copy nul text.txt A required privilege is not held by the client. 0 file(s) copied. Is this an issue with the way I am applying the permissions? Or is Window 7 being extremely strict?

  I opened port 25374, this is eMule TCP port, then I use canyouseeme.org to check if it is really opened. I got the weird problem : when eMule is running, canyouseeme.org see my port. I got the message : "Success: I can see your service on xxx.xx.xxx.xx on port (25374) Your ISP is not blocking port 25374" When I close eMule then check the port again on canyouseeme.org I got : Error: I could not see your service on xxx.xx.xxx.xx on port (25374) Reason: Connection timed out But when I turn off the windows firewall I got a different error : Error: I could not see your service on xxx.xx.xxx.xx on port (25374) Reason: Connection refused Can anyone please explain to me why it happened like that and how to make the port always opened ?   I have troubles to connect from macos to reach windows shares and I hit some general problem with my macos. When I try to telnet to 445 port to my windows share server the macos throws "Operation not permitted". • Dell Dimension running Fedora12 does a "Sleeping Beauty" and I am not am not a "handsome prince"!

  Dell Dimension 2350 with a Pentium IV processor and integrated video and network chips running Fedora12 does a "Sleeping Beauty" and I, apparently, am not am not a "handsome prince"! The system puts video and network to sleep and it will not wakeup. I have heard of this problem on laptops, but this is a tower. Any ideas or help is appreciated. I tried to ping the network card from another system and ping fails. The logs indicate that the system continues to be active. Pressing keyboard short-cut keys makes the disk light blink but neither the video or network card comes alive. Failing all else, are there any Linux commands that I could schedule in cron to pulse video and network adapters hourly that will keep them awake? Or, should I wait on Fedora13? Before this machine, I built a Dimension 2400 with Pentium IV and it had the same problem. Fedora9 on the same hardware is fine.

• Revo 3610 not doing hdmi handshake

  I am having a problem with my Revo 3610 witch is connected to my tv via hdmi. For some reason will it not do the hdmi handshake with the tv, so my tv does not think that there are anything in the hdmi port. I have tested the tv and it works find, with my laptop and dvd. It dose work some times, but this time have it failed for 2 days in a row, and i have tried rebooting, turning the tv off and on, and so on nothing helps. I can trick the TV to listen to the HDMI with connecting with my laptop and then change the hdmi back to my revo, this on the other hand results in the image going thoug nicely but there are a big fat "Check signal cable." on the screen.   I'm trying to get a scheduled task to run on Windows Server 2008. It has been working fine for months, and then hung, so I killed it, and now I can't get it to start. (In case it's not obvious, I'm not a Windows sysadmin by any stretch of the imagination. I inherited responsibility for this system, more or less.) The error it gives is: "The user account does not have permission to run this task". The task's "author" is "A". The task's "When running the task, use the following user account:" is "B". And my user is "C". All of A, B, C are members of the Administrators group, so I'm a bit puzzled as to why it thinks I don't have permissions to run this. Ideas?

• How to check that image sizes are ok or not

  I am having many image files in one folder. Mostly there are jpg, but some png, bmp, gif, tif also (but jpg is most important if others are not possible). There are also many xml files in same folder with same names as image files are having. So there is something like this: 1.jpg, 1.xml, a.png, a.xml, 3g.bmp, 3g.xml... All xml files are having only 1 line: <IMGRES WIDTH="1234" HEIGHT="567" /> (of course numbers are not same). I am looking for some easy way to check all image sizes and confirm if they are same as in xml or not. So I want output like: imagename, xmlwidth x xmlheight, realwidth x realheight, match/error Is this possible in only Windows with no other software installed?

• laptop does not boot

  I have hp probook 4520s lap. But now it does not boot. When I press switch on button fans are working but it shows black screen. HDD light just blink one or two times when start but it will not continue. And usually web cam light should blink one time when startup but it doesn't. I connect to different monitor but couldn't see a output. This lap bought 3 months before but it doesn't have international warranty. Therefore I can not do anything.   I have VPN access using OpenVPN and try to create a safe machine that does not leak traffic over non-VPN interfaces. Using the firewall UFW I try to achieve the following: Allow Access from LAN to the machine's web-interface Otherwise only allow Traffic on tun0 (OpenVPN-Tunnel interface when established) Reject (or forward?) any traffic over other interfaces Currently I am using the following rules (sudo ufw status): To Action From -- ------ ---- 192.168.42.11 9999/tcp ALLOW Anywhere # allow web-interface Anywhere on tun0 ALLOW Anywhere # out only thru tun0 Anywhere ALLOW OUT Anywhere on tun0 # in only thru tun0 My problem is that the machine is initially not able to establish the OpenVPN-connection since only tun0 is allowed, which is not yet established (chicken-egg-problem) How do I allow creating the OpenVPN connection and from this point onward force every single packet to go thru the VPN-tunnel?

• Photoshop not loading fonts correctly

  I'm running Photoshop CS4 on WinXP and I have been sent a PSD as well as the needed fonts. I have installed all the fonts I got into the Windows fonts directory. When I open up the PSD in photoshop it tells me I am missing some fonts, then when I go to click on some text it tells me you are missing Roboto Bold or Roboto Regular. I check the font dropdown list in Photoshop and I see Roboto and that's it, not sure if that is correct or not? I then go to the windows fonts dir to confirm all the fonts are there and they are. See below.. Now I'm not sure if it makes any difference that the PSD I believe was made on a MAC & I'm on a PC?

• Executing symbolic link to exe - "The specified path does not exist"

  When trying to execute a symbolic link which points to an exe file (on Windows 7), the "Open with" windows appears. When renaming it to a ".exe" file, it says "The specified path does not exist. Check the path, and then try again.". Symlinks to other destinations seem to work fine. I know that because hard links are a reference to the file's inode, they do not have this issue. But because of their disadvantages (like replacing "target file" not possible), I avoid hard links. And Windows shortcuts (lnk files) aren't filesystem links. Although I haven't had any trouble with them yet, I'd rather avoid them as well. So is there any way to execute a symlink?
