• CakePHP: Same model, set up per form validation rules?

  I have a single model in CakePHP that has multiple forms on different pages of the site that I would like to validate differently even where the field name is the same - I have discovered that you can set 'on' to create|update which has been a handy discovery but I am wondering if there is any other way of explicitly declaring rules based on the form that was submitted? Just to rephrase for clarity, form a and form b contain fields of the same name, but if form a is submitted the fields in question should be validated differently than if they were submitted from form b. Possible?

• Calling web service from seems to hang

  I am trying to call an asmx web service from an Android app. Just literally started some Android development today. I've been following various solutions I have found on the net and on here and it seems it is more difficult than anticipated. I have tried various solutions and using KSoap2 seems to be the easiest way to implement this, well it would be if I could get it working. • Trigger the change event of a textbox in jQuery

  I have an asp:TextBox with asp:RegularExpressionValidator to validate if it's a number. Obviously an onchange event will be attached to this textbox while rendering. Also I add a change event at $(document).ready to make some calculation when the value is changed. <asp:TextBox id="myText" runat="server" /> <asp:regularexpressionvalidator id="myRev" ControlToValidate="myText" runat="server">*</asp:regularexpressionvalidator> $(document).ready(function(){ $('[id$=myText]').bind('change',function(){ //do something }).change(); //force the change event at the very beginning }); My function will be executed later than the .net generated js because of the register time. But the .net js throws an error. I traced in the js: function ValidatorOnChange(event) { ... } and found that all of event.fromElement,event.toElement,event.srcElement are null which causes the exception. Did I do something wrong? • Properly maintain sorted state of Array/Set

  I'm trying to get data out of my MOC and then create some new objects based on those objects, and put it all back together, while keeping my sort state. The securities come out of the MOC in proper order. And everything seems to be fine until I do the assignment to the game at the bottom from setWithArray. The documentation says that setWithArray removed the duplicate objects, if there are any. I'm wonder if that's messing up my data, but I don't see a good alternative. The data is ultimately being pulled out into a UITableView. When I add items to the game manually, then they stay sorted, so I don't think the breaking of the sort is beyond the scope of what I've included here.   Hi There, When I try to run my site it gives error as Internal Server error, when I refresh the page I get my result properly.The error page looks like this: Internal Server Error The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request. Please contact the server administrator, [email protected] and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error. More information about this error may be available in the server error log. Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.   I am getting a field clash in my models: class Visit(models.Model): user = models.ForeignKey(User) visitor = models.ForeignKey(User) Error: One or more models did not validate: profiles.visit: Accessor for field 'user' clashes with related field 'User.visit_set'. Add a related_name argument to the definition for 'user'. profiles.visit: Accessor for field 'visitor' clashes with related field 'User.visit_set'. Add a related_name argument to the definition for 'visitor'. what would be a sensible 'related_field' to use on visitor field? This model basically represents the visits that take place to a particular user's profile. Also should I replace any of the ForeignKey's with a ManyToManyField? The logic is a bit confusing. • Is there a version of postActionEvent for KeyEvent (specifically for a JTextArea)?

  I'm writing a program that contains multiple JTextFields and 2 JTextAreas within an input panel. I have a submit button on the bottom. I have it set up so when a user types something into each field (including the JTextAreas) and hits the Enter key, it updates a text file, and when they press the submit button it updates the file then outputs a new version of it in the local directory. If the user presses Enter in any of the fields, it validates their input, however, I want to re-validate all fields when they press the submit button. Each field (again, JTextAreas included) has it's own validation check within its ActionListener or KeyListener (for the JTextAreas). It's easy enough to use postActionEvent() for the JTextFields, but is there a similar method for the JTextAreas to force fire a KeyEvent? I don't want to duplicate code and consume memory by re-writing the validation for those 2 Components inside the ActionEvent for the JButton. Unfortunately, I can't provide a sample because I'm writing the program on a classified machine (PC).

  After reading about the new Arabic URLs, and with more languages to come, how should URL validation be done for internationalized applications? Does the validation change at all and will existing solutions break? Is regex still a good approach? If so, what would that regex look like? If not, what's a good strategy? What are some good resources to read more on the topic? I ask this because it has the potential to cause a good many localized applications to have to be rewritten if they have to validate URLs at any point.

• Changing where a resource is pulled during runtime?

  I have a website that goes out to multiple clients. Sometimes a client will insist on minor changes. For reasons beyond my control, I have to comply no matter how minor the request. Usually this isn't a problem, I would just create a client specific version of the user control or page and overwrite the default one during build time or make a configuration setting to handle it. Now that I am localizing the site, I'm curious about the best way to go about making minor wording changes. Lets say I have a resource file called Resources.resx that has 300 resources in it. It has a resource called Continue. English value is "Continue", the French value is "Continuez". Now one client, for whatever reason, wants it to say "Next" and "Après" and the others want to keep it the same. What is the best way to accomodate a request like this? (This is just a simple example). The only two ways I can think of is to Create another Resources.resx specific to the client, and replace the .dll during build time. Since I'd be completely replacing the dll, the new resource file would have to contain all 300 strings. The obvious problem being that I now have 2 resource files, each with 300 strings to maintain. Create a custom user control/page and change it to use a custom resource file. e.g. SignIn.ascx would be replaced during the build and it would pull its resources from ClientName.resx instead of Resources.resx. Are there any other things I could try? Is there any way to change it so that the application will always look in a ClientResources.resx file for the overridden values before actually look at the specified resource file?

• replace values in form.data when form fails validation

  Hi I have a form field which requires a json object as its value when it is rendered. When the form is submitted it returns a comma seperated string of ids as its value (not a json string). however if the form does not validate i want to turn this string of ids back into a json string so it will display properly (is uses jquery to render the json object correctly). how would i do this? I was thinking of overwriting the form.clean method but when I tried to change self.data['fieldname'] I got the error 'This QueryDict instance is immutable' and when i tried to change self.cleaned_data['fieldname'] it didn't make a difference to the value of the field. • White Screen of Death (WSOD) in Browser

  Here's the specs: ASP.NET 3.5 using ASP.NET AJAX AJAX Control Toolkit jQuery 1.3.2 web services IIS6 on Windows Server 2003 SP1 SP1 SQLServer 2005 SP3 Site is SSL Here's the problem: I'm getting the White Screen of Death (WSOD) in pretty much any browser (at least FireFox and IE 7/8). We have an application that uses one popup window for updating records. Most of the time when you click on the [Edit] button to edit a record, the popup window opens and loads the update page. However, after editing records for a while, all of a sudden the popup window will open, but it stays blank and just hangs. The URL is in the address bar. Loading up Fiddler I noticed that the request for the update page is never sent which leads me to believe it's some kind of lockup on the client-side. If I copy the same URL that's in the popup window into a new browser window, the page generally loads fine. Observations: - Since the request is never sent to the server, it's definitely something client-side - Only appears to happen when there is some semblance of traffic on the site which is weird because this appears to be contained within client-side code - There is a web service being called in the background every few seconds checking if the user is logged on, but this doesn't cause the freeze. I'm really at a loss here. I've googled WSOD but not much seems to appear related to my specific WSOD. Any ideas?

• Is there are standard way to store a database schema outside a python app

  I am working on a small database application in Python (currently targeting 2.5 and 2.6) using sqlite3. It would be helpful to be able to provide a series of functions that could setup the database and validate that it matches the current schema. Before I reinvent the wheel, I thought I'd look around for libraries that would provide something similar. I'd love to have something akin to RoR's migrations. xml2ddl doesn't appear to be meant as a library (although it could be used that way), and more importantly doesn't support sqlite3. I'm also worried about the need to move to Python 3 one day given the lack of recent attention to xml2ddl. Are there other tools around that people are using to handle this?

But I have custom validations as well, and I would like to add more different custom validations in the descendants. These custom validations would depend on the class. To prevent my application against CSRF attack, I validate the secondary id before I allow the user session to work off the subsequent page. Recently, while working with session replication mechanism implementation, I observed that on session failover, the generated secodary id is lost and the user get re directed to the login page/default page. Any suggestions on how I can ensure that the my generated secondary token id is not lost from the replicated session?

• iPhone - Problem with in-app purchases

  I've created iPhone app with in-app purchase. Now, I'm in testing phase. I created provisioning profile com.satyam.testapp In iTunes connected I created the application and uploaded the images, screen shots, desscription etc. I also created two id's for in-app purchase. One is com.satyam.testapp.book1 and the other one is com.satyam.testapp.book5 I created test account also for verifying my in-app purchases. Using com.stayam.testapp i created developer test profile and using the same in my developed application. I logged out the itunes app store account in my iphone. Now i started running my application on my iphone. Its saying that no items are there to purchase. But its not even asking me for credentials where i've to enter test account username and password..... how to debug it? • Have Microsoft changed how ASP.NET MVC deals with duplicate action method names?

  I might be missing something here, but in ASP.NET MVC 4, I can't get the following to work. Given the following controller: public class HomeController : Controller { public ActionResult Index() { return View(); } [HttpPost] public ActionResult Index(string order1, string order2) { return null; } } and it's view: @{ ViewBag.Title = "Home"; } @using (Html.BeginForm()) { @Html.TextBox("order1")<br /> @Html.TextBox("order2") <input type="submit" value="Save"/> } When start the app, all I get is this: The current request for action 'Index' on controller type 'HomeController' is ambiguous between the following action methods: System.Web.Mvc.ActionResult Index() on type ViewData.Controllers.HomeController System.Web.Mvc.ActionResult Index(System.String, System.String) on type ViewData.Controllers.HomeController Now, in ASP.NET MVC 3 the above works fine, I just tried it, so what's changed in ASP.NET MVC 4 to break this? OK there could be a chance that I'm doing something silly here, and not noticing it. EDIT: I notice that in the MVC 4 app, the Global.asax.cs file did not contain this: public static void RegisterRoutes(RouteCollection routes) { routes.IgnoreRoute("{resource}.axd/{*pathInfo}"); routes.MapRoute( "Default", // Route name "{controller}/{action}/{id}", // URL with parameters new { controller = "Home", action = "Index", id = UrlParameter.Optional } // Parameter defaults ); } which the MVC 3 app does, by default. So I added the above to the MVC 4 app but it fails with the same error. Note that the MVC 3 app does work fine with the above route. I'm passing the "order" data via the Request.Form. EDIT: In the file RouteConfig.cs I can see RegisterRoutes is executed, with the following default route: routes.MapRoute( name: "Default", url: "{controller}/{action}/{id}", defaults: new { controller = "Home", action = "Index", id = UrlParameter.Optional }); I still get the original error, regards ambiguity between which Index() method to call.

• Validation errors from Google App Engine Logout link

  I am making a web page using the Google App Engine. I am validating my pages, and found that the logout link that is generated by the call to the users api (in python) users.create_logout_url(request.uri) does not validate as XHTML 1.0 Strict. The href in the anchor tag looks like this: /_ah/login?continue=http%3A//localhost%3A8080/&action=Logout Including a link with this anchor text throws three different validation errors: *general entity "action" not defined and no default entity *reference to entity "action" for which no system identifier could be generated *EntityRef: expecting ';' Here is a dummy page with the anchor tag in it, if you want to try it on w3c validator.Dummy Page. The logout link wont work, but you can see how the page is valid without it, but the actual text inside the href tag breaks the validation. Any thoughts on whats going on? Thank you!

• Parsing and validating arbitrary date formats in ruby (on rails)

  I have a requirement to handle custom date formats in an existing app. The idea is that the users have to do with multiple formats from outside sources they have very little control over. We will need to be able to take the format and both validate Dates against it, as well as parse strings specifically in that format. The other thing is that these can be completely arbitrary, like JA == January, FE == February, etc... to my understanding, chronic only handles parsing (and does it in a more magical way then I can use), and enter code here DateTime#strptime comes close, but doesn't really handle the whole two character month scenario, even with custom formatters. The 'nuclear' option is to write in custom support for edge cases like this, but I would prefer to use a library if something like this exists.

• Getting a UIImage from MySQL using PHP and jSON

  I'm developing a little news reader that retrieves the info from a website by doing a POST request to a URL. The response is a jSON object with the unread-news. E.g. the last news on the App has a timeStamp of "2013-03-01". When the user refreshes the table, it POSTS "domain.com/api/api.php?newer-than=2013-03-01". The api.php script goes to the MySQL database and fetches all the news posted after 2013-03-01 and prints them json_encoded. This is // do something to get the data in an array echo $array_of_fetched_data; for example the response would be [{"title": "new app is coming to the market", "text": "lorem ipsum dolor sit amet...", image: XXX}] the App then gets the response and parses it, obtaining an NSDictionary and adds it to a Core Data db. NSDictionary* obtainedNews = [NSJSONSerialization JSONObjectWithData:responseData options:kNilOptions error:&error]; My question is: How can I add an image to the MySQL database, store it, pass it using jSON trough a POST HTTP Request and then interpret it as an UIImage. It's clear that to store an UIImage in CoreData, they must be transform into/from NSData. How can I pass the NSData back and forth to a MySQL db using php and jSON? How should I upload the image to the db? (Serialized, as a BLOB, etc)

• WCF cross-domain policy security error

  Hello everyone, I am using VSTS 2008 + C# + WCF + .Net 3.5 + Silverlight 3.0. I host Silverlight control in an html page and debug it from VSTS 2008 (press F5, then run in VSTS 2008 built-in ASP.Net development web server), then call another WCF service (hosted in another machine running IIS 7.0 + Vista). The WCF service is very simple, just return a constant string to client. When invoking the WCF service from Silverlight, I got the following error message, An error occurred while trying to make a request to URI 'https://LabTest/Test.svc'. This could be due to attempting to access a service in a cross-domain way without a proper cross-domain policy in place, or a policy that is unsuitable for SOAP services. You may need to contact the owner of the service to publish a cross-domain policy file and to ensure it allows SOAP-related HTTP headers to be sent. This error may also be caused by using internal types in the web service proxy without using the InternalsVisibleToAttribute attribute. Please see the inner exception for more details.
