  • delta-dictionary/dictionary with revision awareness in python?

    - by shabbychef
I am looking to create a dictionary with 'roll-back' capabilities in python. The dictionary would start with a revision number of 0, and the revision would be bumped up only by explicit method call. I do not need to delete keys, only add and update key, value pairs, and then roll back. I will never need to 'roll forward', that is, when rolling the dictionary back, all the newer revisions can be discarded, and I can start re-reving up again. thus I want behaviour like: >>> rr = rev_dictionary() >>> rr.rev 0 >>> rr["a"] = 17 >>> rr[('b',23)] = 'foo' >>> rr["a"] 17 >>> rr.rev 0 >>> rr.roll_rev() >>> rr.rev 1 >>> rr["a"] 17 >>> rr["a"] = 0 >>> rr["a"] 0 >>> rr[('b',23)] 'foo' >>> rr.roll_to(0) >>> rr.rev 0 >>> rr["a"] 17 >>> rr.roll_to(1) Exception ... Just to be clear, the state associated with a revision is the state of the dictionary just prior to the roll_rev() method call. thus if I can alter the value associated with a key several times 'within' a revision, and only have the last one remembered. I would like a fairly memory-efficient implementation of this: the memory usage should be proportional to the deltas. Thus simply having a list of copies of the dictionary will not scale for my problem. One should assume the keys are in the tens of thousands, and the revisions are in the hundreds of thousands. We can assume the values are immutable, but need not be numeric. For the case where the values are e.g. integers, there is a fairly straightforward implementation (have a list of dictionaries of the numerical delta from revision to revision). I am not sure how to turn this into the general form. Maybe bootstrap the integer version and add on an array of values? all help appreciated.

  • Iphone resizing images

    - by Greg
Hi all, As far as I have read, scaling a big image to draw it on the iPhone is very slow [1]. I really need to do it fast and I wonder why zoom goes so fast on the iPhone while code scaling is so slow. Any idea? By the way, any fast way to do scaling? [1] For instance: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1282830/uiimagepickercontroller-uiimage-memory-and-more Thanks for your time. Greg

  • CGContextDrawPDFPage doesn't seem to persist in CGContext

    - by erichf
I am trying to access the pixels of a CGContext written to with a PDF, but the bitmap buffer doesn't seem to update. Any help would be appreciated: //Get the reference to our current page pageRef = CGPDFDocumentGetPage(docRef, iCurrentPage); //Start with a media crop, but see if we can shrink to smaller crop CGRect pdfRect1 = CGRectIntegral(CGPDFPageGetBoxRect(pageRef, kCGPDFMediaBox)); CGRect r1 = CGRectIntegral(CGPDFPageGetBoxRect(pageRef, kCGPDFCropBox)); if (!CGRectIsEmpty(r1)) pdfRect1 = r1; int wide = pdfRect1.size.width + pdfRect1.origin.x; int high = pdfRect1.size.height + pdfRect1.origin.y; CGContextRef ctxBuffer = NULL; CGColorSpaceRef colorSpace; UInt8* bitmapData; int bitmapByteCount; int bitmapBytesPerRow; bitmapBytesPerRow = (wide * 4); bitmapByteCount = (bitmapBytesPerRow * high); colorSpace = CGColorSpaceCreateDeviceRGB(); bitmapData = malloc( bitmapByteCount ); if (bitmapData == NULL) { DebugLog (@"Memory not allocated!"); return; } ctxBuffer = CGBitmapContextCreate (bitmapData, wide, high, 8, // bits per component bitmapBytesPerRow, colorSpace, kCGImageAlphaPremultipliedLast | kCGBitmapByteOrder32Big); // if (ctxBuffer== NULL) { free (bitmapData); DebugLog (@"Context not created!"); return; } CGColorSpaceRelease( colorSpace ); //White out the current context CGContextSetRGBFillColor(ctxBuffer, 1.0, 1.0, 1.0, 1.0); CGContextFillRect(ctxBuffer, CGContextGetClipBoundingBox(ctxBuffer)); CGContextDrawPDFPage(ctxBuffer, pageRef); //!!!This displays just fine to the context passed in from - (void)drawLayer:(CALayer *)layer inContext:(CGContextRef)ctx. That is, I can see the PDf page rendered, so we know ctxBuffer was created correctly //However, if I view bitmapData in memory, it only shows as 0xFF (or whatever fill color I use) CGImageRef img = CGBitmapContextCreateImage(ctxBuffer); CGContextDrawImage(ctx, tiledLayer.frame, img); void *data = CGBitmapContextGetData (ctx); for (int i = 0; i < wide; i++) { for (int j = 0; j < high; j++) { //All of the bytes show as 0xFF (or whatever fill color I test with)?! int byteIndex = (j * 4) + i * 4; UInt8 red = bitmapData[byteIndex]; UInt8 green = bitmapData[byteIndex + 1]; UInt8 blue = bitmapData[byteIndex + 2]; UInt8 alpha = m_PixelBuf[byteIndex + 3]; } } I have also tried using CGDataProviderCopyData(CGImageGetDataProvider(img)) & CFDataGetBytePtr, but the results are the same?

  • OperationalError "unable to open database file" processing query results with SQLAlchemy and SQLite3

    - by Peter
I'm running into this little problem that I hope is just a dumb user error. It looks like some sort of a size limit with a query to a SQLite database. I managed to reproduce the issue with an in-memory DB and a simple script shown below. I can make it work by either reducing the number of records in the DB; or by reducing the size of each record; or by dropping the order_by() call. I am using Python 2.5.5 and SQLAlchemy 0.6.0 in a Cygwin environment. Thanks! #!/usr/bin/python from sqlalchemy.orm import sessionmaker import sqlalchemy import sqlalchemy.orm class Person(object): def __init__(self, name): self.name = name engine = sqlalchemy.create_engine('sqlite:///:memory:') Session = sessionmaker(bind=engine) metadata = sqlalchemy.schema.MetaData(bind=engine) person_table = sqlalchemy.Table('person', metadata, sqlalchemy.Column('id', sqlalchemy.types.Integer, primary_key=True), sqlalchemy.Column('name', sqlalchemy.types.String)) metadata.create_all(engine) sqlalchemy.orm.mapper(Person, person_table) session = Session() session.add_all([Person("012345678901234567890123456789012") for i in range(5000)]) session.commit() persons = session.query(Person).order_by(Person.name).all() print "count =", len(persons) session.close() The all() call to the query result fails with the OperationalError exception: Traceback (most recent call last): File "./stress.py", line 27, in <module> persons = session.query(Person).order_by(Person.name).all() File "/usr/lib/python2.5/site-packages/sqlalchemy/orm/query.py", line 1343, in all return list(self) File "/usr/lib/python2.5/site-packages/sqlalchemy/orm/query.py", line 1451, in __iter__ return self._execute_and_instances(context) File "/usr/lib/python2.5/site-packages/sqlalchemy/orm/query.py", line 1456, in _execute_and_instances mapper=self._mapper_zero_or_none()) File "/usr/lib/python2.5/site-packages/sqlalchemy/orm/session.py", line 737, in execute clause, params or {}) File "/usr/lib/python2.5/site-packages/sqlalchemy/engine/base.py", line 1109, in execute return Connection.executors[c](self, object, multiparams, params) File "/usr/lib/python2.5/site-packages/sqlalchemy/engine/base.py", line 1186, in _execute_clauseelement return self.__execute_context(context) File "/usr/lib/python2.5/site-packages/sqlalchemy/engine/base.py", line 1215, in __execute_context context.parameters[0], context=context) File "/usr/lib/python2.5/site-packages/sqlalchemy/engine/base.py", line 1284, in _cursor_execute self._handle_dbapi_exception(e, statement, parameters, cursor, context) File "/usr/lib/python2.5/site-packages/sqlalchemy/engine/base.py", line 1282, in _cursor_execute self.dialect.do_execute(cursor, statement, parameters, context=context) File "/usr/lib/python2.5/site-packages/sqlalchemy/engine/default.py", line 277, in do_execute cursor.execute(statement, parameters) sqlalchemy.exc.OperationalError: (OperationalError) unable to open database file u'SELECT person.id AS person_id, person.name AS person_name \nFROM person ORDER BY person.name' ()

  • How to speed up Cygwin?

    - by tester
I have been running drush scripts (for drupal) with cygwin on my relatively fast windows machine, but I still have to wait about a minute for any drush command (specifically drush cache clear to execute). I'm quite sure it has something to do with the speed of cygwin since my fellow developers (who are running linux) can run these scripts in about 5 seconds. Is there a way to make cygwin use more memory and/or cpu per terminal?

  • Adobe Acrobat Pro 9.0 on Windows 7 print to network share gives error

    - by Archit Baweja
I've recently upgraded a client's workstations to brand new computers, with Windows 7 Professional. The server is still Windows Server 2003. The server has 2-3 file shares that get mapped to users' workstations as drives. The client has also upgraded from Acrobat 6.0 to 9.0 Pro. Since the upgrade, when the client tries to print to the Adobe PDF printer (aka convert something to PDF via the printer interface), it gives an error in the queue if the file is being saved on the network drive. If I instead provide a local path, the file "prints" fine. Additionally, if I change the Adobe PDF printer's settings to "don't spool, print directly to printer", it prints to the network share fine, but then it resets that setting every time. Things I've checked for: Permissions on the network share. The user and the computer has full access. We even gave the "Everyone" ibject full access. Reinstall Adobe Acrobat Pro 9.0 Run updates to upgrade to 9.3.4 Has anyone else bumped into such a problem? The support fellows from Adobe are just taking me around in circles. They don't seem to have a clue either.

I have c# application which write files to sqlite database. It uses entity fraemwork for modeling data. Write file to blob (entity byte[] varible) with this line: row.file = System.IO.File.ReadAllBytes(file_to_load.FileName); //row.file is type byte[] //row is entity class table All work correctly when files size is less. When size more 300Mb app throw exception: Exception of type 'System.OutOfMemoryException' was thrown. How I can write to blob direct, without memory varibles?

  • How to build OpenSSL in release mode with symbols?

    - by twk
I generally build my openssl libs by doing this: perl Configure VC-WIN32 ms\do_masm nmake -f ms\ntdll.mak nmake -f ms\ntdll.mak test For debugging minidumps, I'd like to get a pdb file for the 2 dlls (while still building them in "release" mode). I've added /Zi to the CFLAGS part of ms\ntdll.mak, but I still get "Binary was not built with debug information" when I look at the in-memory modules in the visual studio debugger. Am I missing a step? Thanks

  • How to update a user created Bitmap in the Windows API

    - by gamernb
In my code I quickly generate images on the fly, and I want to display them as quickly as possible. So the first time I create my image, I create a new BITMAP, but instead of deleting the old one and creating a new one for every subsequent image, I just want to copy my data back into the existing one. Here is my code to do both the initial creation and the updating. The creation works just fine, but the updating one doesn't work. BITMAPINFO bi; HBITMAP Frame::CreateBitmap(HWND hwnd, int tol1, int tol2, bool useWhite, bool useBackground) { ZeroMemory(&bi.bmiHeader, sizeof(BITMAPINFOHEADER)); bi.bmiHeader.biSize = sizeof(BITMAPINFOHEADER); bi.bmiHeader.biWidth = width; bi.bmiHeader.biHeight = height; bi.bmiHeader.biPlanes = 1; bi.bmiHeader.biBitCount = 24; bi.bmiHeader.biCompression = BI_RGB; ZeroMemory(bi.bmiColors, sizeof(RGBQUAD)); // Allocate memory for bitmap bits int size = height * width; Pixel* newPixels = new Pixel[size]; // Recompute the output //memcpy(newPixels, pixels, size*3); ComputeOutput(newPixels, tol1, tol2, useWhite, useBackground); HBITMAP bitmap = CreateDIBitmap(GetDC(hwnd), &bi.bmiHeader, CBM_INIT, newPixels, &bi, DIB_RGB_COLORS); delete newPixels; return bitmap; } and void Frame::UpdateBitmap(HWND hwnd, HBITMAP bitmap, int tol1, int tol2, bool useWhite, bool useBackground) { ZeroMemory(&bi.bmiHeader, sizeof(BITMAPINFOHEADER)); bi.bmiHeader.biSize = sizeof(BITMAPINFOHEADER); HDC hdc = GetDC(hwnd); if(!GetDIBits(hdc, bitmap, 0, bi.bmiHeader.biHeight, NULL, &bi, DIB_RGB_COLORS)) MessageBox(NULL, "Can't get base image info!", "Error!", MB_ICONEXCLAMATION | MB_OK); // Allocate memory for bitmap bits int size = height * width; Pixel* newPixels = new Pixel[size]; // Recompute the output //memcpy(newPixels, pixels, size*3); ComputeOutput(newPixels, tol1, tol2, useWhite, useBackground); // Push back to windows if(!SetDIBits(hdc, bitmap, 0, bi.bmiHeader.biHeight, newPixels, &bi, DIB_RGB_COLORS)) MessageBox(NULL, "Can't set pixel data!", "Error!", MB_ICONEXCLAMATION | MB_OK); delete newPixels; } where the Pixel struct is just this: struct Pixel { unsigned char b, g, r; }; Why does my update function not work. I always get the MessageBox for "Can't set pixel data!" I used code similar to this when I was loading in the original bitmap from file, then editing the data, but now when I manually create it, it doesn't work.

  • Cannot connect to local network shares when connected to VPN. Error: "the user name could not be found"

    - by Nick G
I keep finding that on our small company LAN (7 users, 3 servers) that some servers keep becoming "not accessible" for the purposes of file sharing. They display the message "\SERVER is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. The user name could not be found". But I don't know why "the user name could not be found" as all the machines are on the same domain and the PDC and BDC seem to be behaving OK. EDIT: VPN seems to be the cause: It turns out I can see the server if I use the IP address (\\1.2.3.4\ etc) or the FQ active directory name (eg \server.domainname.local) but not if I use the server name on its own or a mapped network drive originally created from the "short" name. Oddly though, my machine has no issue resolving the server's DNS name as I can ping the machine name OK and it immediately comes back with the IP, however nslookup seems to fail. It seems to be a problem with how Windows looks up machine names when connected to VPNs. When I'm connected to a VPN, windows seems to use the DNS assocated with the VPN and not the one on the domain controller. This behavior to me, seems incorrect as surely that would mean connecting to any VPN would break any ability to lookup local machine names for servers and printers etc. So I guess the real question now is, how can I make my machine still search the local Active Directory DNS (the PDC) even when connected to a VPN? More info in my comments below.

  • Preventing Windows version of Vim from destroying other file systems permissions

    - by dborba
I am currently using the windows version of gVim to edit source files on a networked drive mapped to a linux system, as well as local files created in cygwin. The problem is that the windows version of gVim destroys the original file permissions on the respective systems. IE: Files on cygwin are defaulted to 077. When edited by the windows version of vim they are saved as 777.This problem doesn't even occur when using ms-notepad (as well as all other editors I've tried), so I am not quite sure why gVim does it. A possible solution would be to use cygwin's gVim for everything, but that's rather cumbersome as it requires running an x11 environment to support it, and it causes some problems when running some commands from within gVim (or vim for that matter) when working on the networked drive. Any ideas how I might be able to maintain the existing file permissions? Edit: This morning while on a different machine the problem with cygwin did not occur. Cygwin & gVim were the same version, however the other machine is running WinXP while the machine the problem is occurring on runs Win7.

  • WebDAV through Apache2 permissions/missing files

    - by Strifariz
I have a WebDAV setup on Apache2 on a server running Debian 5.0 (Lenny), which I am accessing through a mapped network drive under Windows 7. The setup appears to run fine, I receive no permission errors when copying a file to the share the first time, but the file never shows up in the directory (it's invisible, doing a ls -lha on the directory as root on the server also shows no files. When attempting to copy the file once more I am informed that the file already exists though, and I am asked if I wish to overwrite the file, when selecting "Yes" to this, I receive a permission error saying I'm not able to write to the folder. My logs aren't reporting any access violations of any kind, what could be the problem? • How do I grant a database role execute permissions on a schema? What am I doing wrong?

    - by Lewray
I am using SQL Server 2008 Express edition. I have created a Login , User, Role and Schema. I have mapped the user to the login, and assigned the role to the user. The schema contains a number of tables and stored procedures. I would like the Role to have execute permissions on the entire schema. I have tried granting execute permission through management studio and through entering the command in a query window. GRANT EXEC ON SCHEMA::schema_name TO role_name But When I connect to the database using SQL management studio (as the login I have created) firstly I cannot see the stored procedures, but more importantly I get a permission denied error when attempting to run them. The stored procedure in question does nothing except select data from a table within the same schema. I have tried creating the stored procedure with and without the line: WITH EXECUTE AS OWNER This doesn't make any difference. I suspect that I have made an error when creating my schema, or there is an ownership issue somewhere, but I am really struggling to get something working. The only way I have successfully managed to execute the stored procedures is by granting control permissions to the role as well as execute, but I don't believe this is the correct, secure way to proceed. Any suggestions/comments would be really appreciated. Thanks.

  • Windows XP SP3 client over NAT to a Windows 2008 R2 SP1 file server disconnection

    - by Patrick Pellegrino
we just transferred a pilot group from our old(!!) Netware infrastructure to an Microsoft infrastructure. Since then, our users got problems accessing their files. They all experience disconnection from the mapped drives. The file server is access via a WAN connection by a firewall (Sonicwall) between both network and we do NAT. All clients have Windows XP SP3 and the file server is an Windows 2008 R2 SP1. On the file server I got many Event Id 2012. Many post over the Internet suggested a problem between the SMB protocol and NAT. We need a short term fix to continue to transfer users from Netware to Microsoft after what will work to remove the NATing. I found this MS KB http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2444558 that suggested a kind of workaround for Windows 7 clients but I can found anything for Windows XP. Anyone can help me with this ? We don't want to stop the project and do a network job before migrating. Regards. Update: Our few Windows 7 computers doesn't seem to have this issue.

  • does Entity Framework have a caching mechanism like DataSet/DataTables have?

    - by Greg
Hi, does Entity Framework have a caching mechanism like DataSet/DataTables have? In other words if you start using EF is it really just a way to easily get data in/out of the database without providing an additional caching layer like DataSet/DataTables did where you have an in-memory representation (on-line/off-line) and which at some point you could say to "persist all changes to database"
