• Are Fortran control characters (carriage control) still implemented in compilers?

  In the book Fortran 95/2003 for Scientists and Engineers, there is much talk given to the importance of recognizing that the first column in a format statement is reserved for control characters. I've also seen control characters referred to as carriage control on the internet. To avoid confusion, by control characters, I refer to the characters "1, a blank (i.e. \s), 0, and +" as having an effect on the vertical spacing of output when placed in the first column (character) of a FORMAT statement. Also, see this text-only web page written entirely in fixed-width typeface : Fortran carriage-control (because nothing screams accuracy and antiquity better than prose in monospaced font). I found this page and others like it to be not quite clear. According to Fortran 95/2003 for Scientists and Engineers, failure to recall that the first column is reserved for carriage control can lead to horrible unintended output. Paraphrasing Dave Barry, type the wrong character, and nuclear missiles get fired at Norway. However, when I attempt to adhere to this stern warning, I find that gfortran has no idea what I'm talking about. Allow me to illustrate my point with some example code. I am trying to print out the number Pi: PROGRAM test_format IMPLICIT NONE REAL :: PI = 2 * ACOS(0.0) WRITE (*, 100) PI WRITE (*, 200) PI WRITE (*, 300) PI 100 FORMAT ('1', "New page: ", F11.9) 200 FORMAT (' ', "Single Space: ", F11.9) 300 FORMAT ('0', "Double Space: ", F11.9) END PROGRAM test_format This is the output: 1New page: 3.141592741 Single Space: 3.141592741 0Double Space: 3.141592741 The "1" and "0" are not typos. It appears that gfortran is completely ignoring the control character column. My question, then, is this: Are control characters still implemented in standards compliant compilers or is gfortran simply not standards compliant? For clarity, here is the output of my gfortran -v Using built-in specs. • addChild, etc. using NSTreeController and NSTreeNode (snow leopard)

  I have a setup with an object (OTNodeDatum) (OT for OutlineTest) to be the represented object in NSTreeNode. NSTreeNode is the Class shown in the attributes page for NSTreeController. I have document based app, no core data. On MyDocument init, I set up content with an NSMutableArray containing one item, an NSTreeNode with a represented object which contains a single property (yes, name). Add button, Add Child button, Delete button, hooked up via interface builder to the NSTreeController add action, etc. It works up to a point. When I do an add, I get a new blank line which I can edit, but the inserted text goes away when I leave the cell. When I do a delete, things get deleted. When I do add child, nothing happens. I think I have to subclass either NSTreeNode, or NSTreeController to get the right behavior in terms of adding children and adding a new represented object in addition to adding a new tree node. IS this on the right track? If I subclass NSTreeController would I just override the add, addChild, to get the right thing to happen? And what could I mess up? I can't seem to find any guidance on this, although I've spent a long time looking. Thanks. John V

• After rich:extendedDataTable sortby,otheractions are not getting executed

  I have a RichFaces UI which are having sidebar menu and sidebar had 8 links. I am using Seam @DataModel and @Factory and hibernate criteria to populate all the 8 pages. In all the pages i have sortby functionality which is working fine. I am able to get all data in all the 8 pages and I can freely navigate around all the links/xhtmls. But if in one of the xhtmlpages if I do sorting or groupby after that I am unable to navigate to other pages.If I select any other link the same last query which is executed for sorting is getting executed. Is this an issue? or do I need add any configuration. Please help me in solving this issue. • .NET 4.0 Implementing OutputCacheProvider

  I am checking out the OutputCacheProvider in ASP.NET 4.0 and using it to store my output cache into the MongoDb database. I am not able to understand the purpose of Add method which is one of the override methods for OutputCacheProvider. The Add method is invoked when you have VaryByParam set to something. So, if I have VaryByParam = "id" then the Add method will be invoked.   Hi, I have a list in which I'd like to keep several head pointers. I've tried to create multiple ListIterators on the same list but this forbid me to add new elements in my list... (see Concurrent Modification exception).   Does anyone know if there is a way to "transform" specific sections of values instead of replacing the whole value or an attribute? For example, I've got several appSettings entries that specify the Urls for different webservices. These entries are slightly different in the dev environment than the production environment.   Hi all, Say if I have an array and I want to check if an element is a part of that array, I can go ahead and use in_array( needle, haystack ) to determine the results. I am trying to see the PHP equivalent of this for my purpose. Now you might have an instant answer for me and you might be tempted to say "Use IN". Yes, I can use IN, but that's not fetching the desired results. Let me explain with an example: I have a column called "pets" in DB table. For a record, it has a value: Cat, dog, Camel (Yes, the column data is a comma separated value). Consider that this row has an id of 1. Now I have a form where I can enter the value in the form input and use that value check against the value in the DB. So say I enter the following comma separated value in the form input: CAT, camel (yes, CAT is uppercase & intentional as some users tend to enter it that way). Now when I enter the above info in the form input and submit, I can collect the POST'ed info and use the following query: $search = $_POST['pets']; $sql = "SELECT id FROM table WHERE pets IN ('$search') "; The above query is not fetching me the row that already exists in the DB (remember the record which has Cat, dog, Camel as the value for the pets column?). I am trying to get the records to act as a superset and the values from the form input as subsets. So in this case I am expecting the id value to show up as the values exist in the column, but this is not happending. Now say if I enter just CAT as the form input and perform the search, it should show me the ID 1 row. Now say if I enter just camel, cAT as the form input and perform the search, it should show me the ID 1 row. How can I achieve the above? Thank you.

  I am trying to associate Contacts with Classes but as two different types. Current_classes and Interested_classes. I know I need to enable polymorphic but I am not sure as to where it needs to be enabled. • Adding Mysql Columns in Rails Rake

  I have a rake file that does a series of calculations on a database. Basically it adds usage on equipment regularly. At the end of the day it needs to add that days total to a monthly total table and update that same table. i use the following simple concepts: To get data from the database is pretty simple: @usages = Usage.find(:all) time = Time.new for usage in @usages sql = ActiveRecord::Base.connection To insert it into the database: sql.execute "INSERT (or UPDATE) into usages ## add values and options as per MySQL But how do I: take a column from a database, add all of its values together that have a common value in another column, (i.e. if column x == value y) and then insert it into another column in another table, say dailyusages?   Suppose I have two lists that holds the list of source file names and destination file names respectively. The Sourcefilenamelist has files as 1.txt, 2.txt,3.txt, 4.txt while the Destinaitonlist has 1.txt,2.txt. I ned to write a linq query to find out which files are in SourceList that are absent in DestinationFile list. e.g. here the out put will be 3.txt and 4.txt. I have done this by a foreach statement. but now I want to do the same by using LINQ(C#). • How to bind an ADF Table on button click

  Coming from ASP.NET I'm having a hard time with basic ADF concepts. I need to bind a table on a button click, and for some reason I don't understand (I'm leaning towards page life cycle, which I guess is different from ASP.NET) it's not working. • Import CSV to mysql

  I have created a database and table. I have also created all the fields i will be needing. I have created 46 fields including 1 that is my ID for the row. The CSV doesn't contain the id field, nor does it contain the headers for the columns. I am new to all of this but have been trying to figure this out. I'm not on here being lazy asking for the answer, but looking for direction. I'm trying to figure out how to import the CSV but have it start importing data starting at the 2nd field, since I'm hoping the auto_increment will fill in the ID field, which is the first field i created. I tried these instructions with now luck. • Google Script / Spreadsheet -- Shared permissions with Installed Trigger onEdit

  Using an installed trigger inside spreadsheet to call onUpdateBilling(). Purpose of this script is on edit, based on content of column "billed" (i.e. "d") will highlight the entire column the predetermined color. Page running script is shared with collaborators and they have been given edit access. My expectation at this point is the script should be run with owner permissions. My shared users are unable to run the script with the given error "You don't have permission for this action." Reached my limited knowledge and googlefu for this workaround. Any help to allow operation to my collaborators is appreciated.   Hello, this is my first question here, though I've being reading this forum for quite a while. Most of the answers to my doubts are from here :) Getting back on topic. I'm developing an Android application. I'm drawing a dynamic layout that are basically Galleries, inside a LinearLayout, inside a ScrollView, inside a RelativeLayout. The ScrollView is a must, because I'm drawing a dynamic amount of galleries that most probably will not fit on the screen. When I scroll inside the layout, I have to wait 3/4 seconds until the ScrollView "deactivates" to be able to scroll inside the galleries. What I want to do is to reduce this time to a minimum. Preferably I would like to be able to scroll inside the galleries as soon as I lift my finger from the screen, though anything lower than 2 seconds would be great as well. I've being googling around for a solution but all I could find until now where layout tutorials that didn't tackle this particular issue. I was hoping someone here knows if this is possible and if so to give me some hints on how to do so. I would prefer not to do my own ScrollView to solve this. The scroller is not locking up. But sometimes, when it stops scrolling, it takes a few seconds (2/3) to disable itself. I just want it to be a little more dynamic, is there any way to override the listener and make it stop scrolling ON_ACTION_UP or something like that? I don't want to use the listview because I want to have each gallery separated by other views, now I just have text, but I will probably separate them with images with a different size than the galleries. I'm not really sure if this is possible with a listadapter and a listview, I assumed that a view can only handle only one type of object, so I'm using a scrollview of a layout, if I'm wrong please correct me :) Also this activity works as a preview or selecting the pictures you want to view in full size and manage their values. So its working only with thumbnails. Each one weights 40 kb. Guessing that is very unlikely that a user gets more than 1000~1500 pictures in this view, i thought that the activity wouldn't use more than 40~50 mb of ram in this case, adding 10 more if I open the fullsized view. So I guessed as well most devices are able to display this view in full size. If it doesn't work on low-end devices my plan was to add an option in the app preferences to let user chop this view according to some database values. And a last reason is that during most of this activity "life-cycle" (the app has pics that are relevant to the view, when it ends the value that selects which pictures are displayed has to change and no more pictures are added inside this instance of this activity); the view will be unpopulated, so most of the time showing everything wont cost much, just at the end of its cycle That was more or less what I thought at the time i created this layout. I'm open to any sort of suggestion or opinion, I just created this layout a few days ago and I'm trying to see if it can work right, because it suits my app needs. During this two operations, I can add also tags! I think of use an Html.ListBox() helper to list all tags, and so I can select multiple tags to add in a post! The problem isn't during the add mode, but in the edit mode, where I have to pre-select post's tags! I read that I have to use a MultiSelectList and so in its constructor pass, tags' list and tag's list(pre-selected value). But I don't know how to use this class! When I update a detached Categories item (that doesn't contain any Hibernate class as it comes from a dto converter) I notice that Hibernate will first delete ALL employer wages instances (the collection link) and then insert ALL employer wage entries ONE-BY-ONE :(... I understand that it has to delete and then insert all entries as it was completely detached. BUT, what I don't understand, why is Hibernate NOT inserting all the entries through bulk-insert?.. That is: inserting all the employer wage entries all in one SQL statement ? How can I tell Hibernate to use bulk-insert? (if possible).
